The product is highly expensive if we were to compare prices and results. Apart from that I like the scent from the ingredients not overpower yet subtle.Still it was a splurge for unseen results.

This Toner is the worst one I ever tried, it burnt like hell and i got dry patches just after a few days. My skin is not overly sensitiv and no Toner ever did this to me. The bottle is crappy, too, I dropped it accidently and it instantly cracked and most of the toner splashed over the bathroom floor.

This toner was one of the worst I have used. It is very expensive, almost $20 for a 5oz bottle. I was hoping it would act as a weightless moisturizer, but I didn't notice an improvement at all. After using the toner twice a day for a month, without any noticeable results, I would not recommend this product. Don't let the price act as an indicator of quality, such a waste of money.

There is some mis-information about this product in some of these reviews. This product DOES in fact contain alcohol (check the ingredients, its the 3rd one listed), so as you can imagine the alcohol content is pretty high. This doesn't make it evil though, alcohol in beauty products acts as an astringent - it helps reduce oil and inflammation and balances the ph level of the skin. Alcohol should only be avoided if you have sensitive (will irritate) or dry (will dry out more) skin. This toner is ONLY for people with combination/oily skin (I wouldn't even use it or normal skin). Also never use it on broken skin or any wounds - it will sting.
As for the scent, as another reviewer pointed out Origins doesn't use synthetic fragrances, what you are smelling is just plants and essential oils (the very first ingredient listed is lavender). Personally, I would rather use a product that smelled natural than had an artificial perfume in it (which can irritate and clog pores).
A little pricey yes ($38AUD) but a decent toner for combination skin to set a matte stage for moisturising.
For non-alchololic toners in origins, try A Perfect World Purifying Toner (oily/combination skin) or A Perfect World Moisturising Toner (normal/dry skin).

Omg...I got these red spots on my face after I use the product. I have used a clay cleanser and the Nude and Improved foundation from Origins, and I am pretty satisfy with these two products. But the United State Balancing Toner is a major disappointment. It smells weird, and it dries out my skin. Not a recommendation for those of you who have combination/normal skin.

First of all, this toner smells like grandpa's cologne but 10 times stronger. I don't think I'm a very sensitive person at all, but the scent was so overwhelming that it made my eyes water. Aside from that, I do think it made my skin softer. However, I wasn't able to take the cotton pad near my eyes to remove leftover makeup like I've been able to do with other toners.

I like this, I have bought several bottles in the past. Could be harsh on sensitive skin though.

This stuff is too harsh for my face. :( I'm switching back to my Origins Organics Purifying Toner. More expensive, but so much better. This stuff makes my face feel tight, not clean, and it's just icky.

There seems to be some misunderstanding about this product. It is not meant to change skin overtime it is a day to day tonic that helps to balance and refresh, purify, and even out skins PH.
Also Origins uses NO synthetic fragrances at all. Every single scent is plant based, hence the higher prices as alot of rare plants are used.
Either way, I use all 4 Origins tonics, depending on how my skin feels that day! I love Options but I love that Origins is also conscientous about the earth, animals and environment. The packaging is recyclable, no animal testing....just a great line!!

As with many Origins products I have purchased in the past, this toner is very over-priced for the results I have seen. It slightly moisturizes my skin, and does an okay job of prepping it for makeup. But after using it for a good 6 months, my skin has seen no improvement or change. It does have a slight perfume-y scent that may make some nervous, but it has not broken me out :). Perhaps the only pro for this toner?

I am on the wall about this product. It does not make me break out, and it does not dry out my skin so most days I skip my moisturizer. I do worry about the perfume-y scent, I try to stay away from scented face care, as they have added chemicals that clog pores & cause breakouts. And I don't think I could afford to re-purchase this. A lot of Origins' products are a bit overpriced for me, so I'm hoping to find a more affordable substitute. It's a nice toner, and I will finish the bottle.

I LOVE this toner. My skin has a mind of its own :) I'm a grease-ball one day, a rough patch the next, and this toner overpowers it all. After applying, my skin always evens out to a soft, healthy looking canvas (neither dry nor oily) ready for some makeup! (Great at removing makeup, too!) Moisturizes, has a lovely scent, will repurchase again...and again...and yet again!

I use this every day to balance out my skin. It heals breakouts as well, but I wish it was alcohol-free, although it uses a plant-based alcohol.

I switched immediately!

My skin isn't particularly sensitive, but this stung like crazy. I used it because it supposedly replaced their Tuning Solution, which I used to use, but I didn't find it comparable.

I recently purchased a second bottle of this and I must say I'm disappointed. When I got my first bottle, it was pretty good. The Glucosamine in the toner really smoothed my skin, if only for a while. It felt like Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 which also relies on Glucosamine to exfoliate, (the Lotion 3 and 4 contain Salicylic Acid to exfoliate instead)which is not surprising given that both Clinique and Origins are owned by Estee Lauder and that United State is marketed for combination skins, skins that will be classified as a Tye II by Clinique standards. However, my second bottle doesn't contain it. It doesn't even mention it in the product description anymore! Now, this is just a mildly irritating toner which removes cleanser residue with nothing special. In fact, it is as astringent-feeling as Oil Refiner, but Oil Refiner has more obvious oil-foiling benefits than United State.

This stuff is loaded with alcohol and irritating oils. It will def clean your skin- but at what price?? It burns and irritates and eventually leads to those little red bumps that are synonymous with 99.9% of all Origins products. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Origins basher- it just bothers me that they put so little thought into products by ruining some great formulations with irritants, then completely overcharging you for them.

This product was not worth the price. It is a decent toner but you can find better options for about half the price at the drugstore.

TRIAL PERIOD: Tried sample only twice.

MY SKIN TYPE: Combination dry skin with occasional breakouts.

EFFECTIVENESS: WOW!! I was sooo impressed after it went on my skin! I noticed the pores on the tip of my nose were COMPLETELY sealed shut, it looked like they disappeared. I have NEVER seen any toner I tried do this before. Usually I can still see the pores.
TEXTURE ON SKIN: Skin feels TOTALLY smooth and slippery! One of the smoothest I've tried in toners.
SMELL: Scent is not light but the scent does evaporate after a few minutes of application. Smells like alcohol & herbs. The smell of a toner is important to me since it's gonna stay on my skin and is the ONLY 1 reason why I'm not sure if I will put it on my permanent list but I'm soooooo impressed with its effectiveness that I just might buy it. Gosh, this toner would be soooo perfect if it weren't for the alcohol smell, but then again the smell is gone after a few minutes.

CONTAINER: I prefer the 1-way spray action for toners because nothing goes in, it only goes out, and I can just spray it on the cotton ball because I don't want to see dead skin cells floating in the bottle later on which usually happens and who knows what else could be floating in there after usage. Maybe some dirt/bacteria that the cotton ball was suppose to take off, too.
