Even when I think of the scent of this product, my stomach turns. Pachouli, maybe? All I know is that I won't be using it again.

Only use when hair looks dull/dry. Adds moisture and sheen to texturized natural(afro) hair. And has a lovely smell. I just love essential oils. Can be greasy if you use too much. The bottle will last for ever. ****UPDATE: ***** Discovered Organic Root Simulator's 'Carrot Oil'. So haven't purchased this lately.

This stuff is wonderful. I use it on my baby daughter's hair which is a huge soft, thick, and curly afro. It moisturizers her hair w/o making it greasy, and everyone who holds her says "Ooh she smells so good!" I sniff her all day long after applying this to her hair.

I just received this product and I must say I'm pleasently surprised. I have thick, fine textured, natural hair. I used it on my dry hair last night and my hair soaked up the moisture. I can't wait to see how it works on my wet hair. And the scent...it reminded me of when I was a little girl and my mom would grease my scalp. It smelled similar to the product she used at the time...Ultra Sheen maybe? I love the scent. I think I'll use this instead of Healthy Hair butter.

I love Carol's Daughter's "Hair Balm". I use it after I wash my hair. It gives my hair an infusion of moisture and makes it feel so soft. I definitely will use it again.

I'm a little torn with this one...the reason I like it is because it makes my naturally dry, course hair super shiny and soft. The downside, like with the majority of Carol's Daughter's products is the smell---to me it's a cross between Nag Champa incense and an funky smelling candle. My boyfriend hates the smell, but I can tolerate it a little more. Prefer it to hair butter, which is way too thick and lemony. Hair balm is my second favorite after Mimosa Hair honey in terms of moisture and softness and sheen.

I ordered this product after seeing the testimonials from Jada Pinkett Smith, *raving* about it. It's a little greasy and actually makes my (unrelaxed) hair pretty heavy - so I tend only to use it when wearing my hair in ponytails. It doesn't seem to penetrate well either. I've resorted to using it on my son's hair.

I have unrelaxed African American hair -- 3b & 3c texture, and the other day I used this after wet-setting my hair. Once my hair was dry, I first used Paul Mitchell's Gloss Drops, but that did not give me enough moisture and sheen. So I smoothed through a dollop of CD's Hair Balm and that did the trick. Added just enough moisture and sheen and left my hair smelling heavenly. It smelled like the previous reviewer said -- a bit like a vanilla-scented candle.

This was one of the CD products that the smell did not want to make me hurl.
My boyfriend said I smelled like a candle. LOL

I love this! When I first got it I opened it anticipating this wonderful scent and was quite disappointed! It didn't smell anything like I imagined. But I put some on my hair anyway to see how well it worked. I liked the texture of the product and it made my hair soft with a beautiful shine. And then later in the day I was sitting in my office and my hair fell forward around my face. Wow! It really smelled nice. I was sniffing it all day. And then tonight my husband came home and hugged me and he wouldn't let go. I asked him what he was doing and he said, "You smell so GOOD!" This from a man who *never* comments on my scents. I'm really liking this and will definitely repurchase. So far it's my favorite CD scented product too (as someone said below).

This is just too oily for me, but didn't seem to absorb into my hair. I have had no luck with CD products and this is the last one I'll spend my money on. I also hate how CD uses so much wax in her products.

Too heavy and greasy for my hair and yet it didn't seem to penetrate.

My relaxed and highlighted hair adores this product. I used some on damp hair, rub in a small amount, and then did a rollerset on my hair. WHen i took the curlers out, my curls were very moisturised and defined. The products is rather heavy so I notice it is slightly irritating my face so I did not give it a 5 but i will buy this product again but only use it sparingly.

This works great for my past the shoulder length, highly processed hair. I can only use a tiny bit on my hair when it's dry. It makes my hair super shiny, the ends of my hair aren't brittle anymore and it smooths my hair. The smell is amazing! I have the tendency to really load this in my hair because I love the smell so much but I end up looking like a grease pit. I use this on my body in the winter & it makes my skin glow! Sometimes the oils in this separate so I do have to occassionally shake the bottle.

A bit oily on my texturized hair but worked great on my cornrows. Overall great moisture is achieved from the hair balm. My favorite scented hair product from Carol's daughter.

I love this product!!! This is a kind of thick blend of natural fragrant oils that can be squeezed out of the bottle. A little goes a long way and it leaves incredible long lasting shine and the scent is gorgeous!! I love the smell. Not for fine haired ladies, this would work best on coarse or chemically treated hair.
