THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZING.
I am the one in the pictures up there with the rainbow hair :3 which I did myself, with Beyond The Zone Color Jamz dyes.
Reviews on these seem to be split between people who,
a. used manic panic and didn't like it, and then liked these
and b. people who have used manic panic and these and prefer manic panic.
They both have their pros and cons, but overall, Beyond The Zone is my favorite.
WHAT I DID
To begin with, my hair was bleached a light, slightly coppery yellow about two months before I did this. First I mixed my colors, I have Not So Shy Violet, Tipped Up Turquoise, Wild Red, and Yellin Yellow, I would have just bought Huckleberry Blue instead of the two separate blues, but sally's was out. So, I mixed equal parts of the Violet and Turquoise, and got, as you can see, a really dark blue color. I mixed mostly Wild Red with maybe 30% Violet and got a really dark purple. To make my green I mixed mostly yellow, with maybe a quarter turquoise. To make orange, I used yellow and just the tiniest bit of red, probably, 5%. I also mixed in some yellow with Wild Red to get my red color, because I had read reviews that it turns out pink, but with a bit of yellow in it I didn't have that problem.
Next I separated my hair, put the dye in, put foil around each individual color, put the whole thing in a shower cap, and went to bed, with the heat in my room turned up to around 75. (I think I slept for around six hours.)
When I woke up, I washed the colors out with FREEZING COLD water, one by one, and then rinsed them some more all together until the color was completely clear. Then I just styled as usual.
PROS
Colors are a lot brighter than I dared to expect them to be.
Staying power after one wash is AMAZING, compared to manic panic, I see zero change in the colors of my hair.
Didn't stain my bathroom at all, whereas with manic panic I had a blue spot on my sink for a few months.
Price is really good, and for a rainbow, that was one of my main concerns.
I have read complaints about the packaging, but I think it's case by case, because the only bottle I had trouble with was the Wild Red, so I'm assuming that one was just a fluke.
I get tons and tons of compliments, and people amazed that I did this myself, but it was really pretty easy, and I wish everyone who wants to would just try it :)
CONS
These dyes run like they're being chased by a bear. You MUST wash your hair in cold water, and even then, you have to be quick to dry it, because you can very lightly stain your skin. But honestly, that is the ONLY con with these dyes, they are amazing.
SOME TIPS
Never condition your hair when you wash it the night before dying, the color really won't stick as well.
Don't mix conditioner with these dyes, I tried that in my strand tests, and they don't work very well.
When you wash your hair wash the part that has this dye in it first, in cold water, then wash the rest, and it shouldn't run.
Blow dry your hair immediately after it's been wet, because the colors from your wet hair can stain your skin.
Wait as long as you can after dying to wash your hair, the color will stay better the longer it's in your hair, and yes there is still dye in your hair if you don't use shampoo after the water runs clear.
Heat really helps too.

aaaaaabsolutely love this stuff. i was blonde for a bit over the summer and decided i wanted to tint my hair a really light, sheer pink. i mixed this dye (in party time pink) with my conditioner, put it on dry hair for 25ish minutes before rinsing out completely. the lightest highlights i had prior to this were a perfect, super-light-yet-noticeable pink - the rest was a relatively subdued sheer cotton candy colour (which looked really pretty in the sun). after having the blonde dyed back to an orangey red (close to my natural colour), i mix outrageous orange with a tiny bit of party time pink (maybe 1/5th the amount of orange) and put on dry hair before shampooing every two-three weeks to add some dimension between trips to the salon. i get more compliments than i can count. however, this stuff probably works so well for me because i only wash my hair once a week - people who wash daily may not love it so much.
something i think that is important to mention - this is just a semi permanent dye, with no developer or lightener of any kind, and it is NOT SUPPOSED to be mixed with these things. if you're putting this on hair that has any kind of colour to it, the result is going to be a subtle tint as opposed to a bright, vibrant shade - the only way to get a bright colour is to use a dye like this on hair that has been bleached to nearly white. do your research first and you can easily avoid the disappointment of an outcome other than what you had imagined. giving a product a hyper-negative review simply because you don't understand the product's intended uses and possible limitations is not exactly helpful.

This product did not work on me! I purchased the Raspberry Kamikazi color and did not bleach my hair before applying. Then I waited for almost an hour and rinsed until the water ran clear. After I blow dried my hair, there was no color in it! I have brunette hair and I was upset. Wouldn't try it even with bleached hair.

I am SOOOOO happy with my results!
First off is the price: Manic Panic from Sally's is $8.99 while Color Jamz is $6.29.
Second is the quality: I've used MP for a year and it's all faded IN A WEEK. I've had Huckleberry Blue in for a week so far with NO FADING.
So, before I used Color Jamz I had white hair for a while and decided to change it up. I've been really wanting that true blue color ever since I started dying my hair but MP's blue colors are either too dark, turquoise (not what I was looking for), or too pastel. I saw Huckleberry Blue and decided to give it a whirl. I put it on my hair twice (the first time I mixed it with conditioner because it looked too dark. BAD IDEA. It turned out a silver-ocean blue color. The 2nd time was the pure product) and got that BEAUTIFUL true blue color I've always wanted. I think for the price and the quality, it's a full 5. I couldn't be happier with this product <3!!!!

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!! its a wast of money

Well, i decided to read reviews to see what people opinioned about using purple passion on hair that is red( maybe a little bit fadedred) and i read many have complaints and trouble with having a nice red. i agree that candy apple red and wild red dont really work as well but with the 4 years i have using this product i would say that the best color for a bright intense red would be the Crimson Red, so before you give up on color jamz try the crimson red first, you wont be disappointed.
The Raspberry Kamikaze i ddnt have much problem with it before because the color was actually dark like the display and it lasted long it was so beautiful but now that it has a "improved more vibrant color" formula it comes out brighter and lighter, which i dont like much anymore..but i DID work everyone sorry to say it doesnt anymore=/ i will post pictures of my raspberry hair so you can see the difference of the product before and will also post a pic of crimson red.
Purple Passion, Bubble head red and turquoise has always worked fine with me, just read instructions, apply heat, leave for longer than recommended, and after washing out: dont shampoo much and dont use so much hair spray, for it will fade ur hair ..hope i helped=)

I have used Beyond the Zone many, many times. I've never once had a single problem with it, other than I've always managed to get my color to last longer than what it's supposed to. Which, isn't a problem to me. I've never really had the colors bleed. It didn't stain my white towels when my hair was wet. The color has always taken extremely well. I'm not really sure what I do differently from other people, or if there's anything different at all. I suggest this to anyone who asks about hair color, and I continue to use it myself.

Because of Beyond the Zone's candy apple red, I will never use Beyond the Zone products again. I decided to dye my bangs red for my brothers wedding to match my dress. The wedding is in a week. My hair is pink. I am a girl who hates the color pink. So when I began to apply this you can imagine my terror when it went on my head hot hot hot pink. I told myself it would wash out red. I was wrong. My bangs are pink. I start school in 2 days. I'm attending a wedding in a week. Unless you want a color you weren't expecting, don't buy this product. Now I can only hope my mom will take me to sally's to buy manic panic.

So in the 3rd picture you can see the two colors i used, i used crimson red and tripped up turquoise.
Bullet Pointed key points
-The great thing about Beyond The Zone is that they have an amazing color selection
-Pretty decent pricing compared to other brands
-Fades right away
-Bleeds when wet
-Darker colors don't have much of a problem with staying put. {the red} but lighter colors washed away quicker {turquoise} which is weird....it should be the other way on how the color wheel works with dyes.... {red fades faster than blue, maybe i didn't bleach my hair light enough?}
My experience...
So i've been dying using splat and i decided i wanted to choose more interesting colors and choose this brand without knowing the pros and cons during that time. My hair is BLACK like asian black hair should be lol and i had to bleach it several times before dying my hair {i've done 9bleaches so far and i'm suprised my hair isn't fried but it is pretty light {4th picture}} i parted my hair in half and put in the dye over night so its xx amount of hours {sorry it's not much help?} but the point is that i put it in for a LONG time. When i washed it out it looked like the picture you see c: i was happy until It started bleeding every shower....it lasted a week probably a week and a half at most before i had to redye. It became a hassle and i wanted it gone....so i bleached it out {yay?} the red turned lemonade-ish pink and the turquoise disappeared.....so yes .... it wasn't very fun to use this.
The bleeding process {ew that sounds like actual blood...lol no but hair dye bleeding} the red faded pretty nicely however the turquoise faded ugly T: it looked like pee on my head lmfao, {thats the reason i had to redye my hair often with this}
One time i decided to go to the beach, and i came out looking like a rainbow....{5th picture} how fun? :\ nope....

Worst Hair dye ever!! I bleached my hair in order to use the turquoise dye. I dyed it and only a couple strands of my hair got dyed. I even used the Beyond the zone bleach and it wasn't enough and strong enough so I had to use something else. If there was an option for zero I would put it. I am very disappointed. I look like a freak!!!!!!!!!! >:(
P.S. Not only should you not buy it don't even use it if it's free!!!

For a while I used the Beyond The Zone Glam Street Glaze in Jaw-Dropping Red and loved it. It was easy to use and every use left my hair just a little redder - not obviously so, but more of a change of undertone, so that my hair kept the same level but developed a nice red tone which shown beautifully in all kinds of light. I still use the Red Glaze periodically to keep up on the tone. (You must understand the difference between 'level' and 'tone' for this to make any sense.)
But that's not what this review is about. I'm writing now about Color Jamz - specifically Color Jamz in Candy Apple Red, which I purchased on a whim about a month ago in yet another attempt at enhancing my hair's red tones. I figured it'd work like the Glam Street Glaze, but faster. And I used it in roughly the same manner, and not following the directions at all. The directions say to bleach your hair out first, then leave the dye in your hair for such and such a time, possibly applying heat, etc. But I wasn't about to do all that, so I just applied the Color Jamz in the shower after shampooing and before conditioning, and rinsed it out thoroughly after leaving it in about 5 minutes max.
During this time, I noticed how crappy the bottle design was. Namely, it's too thick of a plastic to squeeze so the applicator bottle is all but useless. I had to dump the product into my hand to get it out. Also, it stained my palms, nails, bathtub, and shower curtain hardcore.
Now normally I love Beyond The Zone products, but I've got a lot of complaints for this particular one. For one, even though I didn't bleach out my hair first, it still came out freaking FUSCHIA. The swatch and my results were not even comparable. Also, it stuck to my ends but not my roots, which gave my hair a very greasy appearance and overall made me look really trashy.
I also noticed that it had like no lasting power, even for a semi-permanent. The color was completely gone two shampoos later. Of course, I was happy about that, but if your intentions are different than mine, be aware, it doesn't last.
This review is just for the color Candy Apple Red, so the others could be different and I wouldn't know. I have no desire to dye my hair blue or anything else unnatural. Those could work wonders for all I know. Just watch the Candy Apple Red because IMO it sux. I'm not even sure what classification it belongs in; it's too dark to be a glaze, but too weak to be semi-permanent. Temporary maybe?
Either way, I'm sticking to the Glam Street Glaze in Red. That's a nice product for my purposes.

the thing is, whenever you are going for an un natural color it is best to not completely lift/bleach it to white. i read some of the reviews, the people that were happy with the results usually bleached their hair to a orangish copperish color, which would be an ideal target level if you do not want your color to fade fast. This is not actual permanent haircolor! the color molecules are bigger than that, so they need something to grab on to! & when you bleach your hair you open up your hair cuticles, (which are kind of like the pores in your skin) the more you bleach it, the more susceptible it is for the color to wash out faster. another way to improve upon the performance & the lasting power of this product (or any temporary haircolor) is to leave it on longer with some heat. for best results the use of a blowdryer & a showercap & dont forget to think warm thoughts :)

I am 16 years old and this is the first product to actually work in my hair. I have been trying to dye my hair since I was 13 and nothing has worked. Yesterday, I bleached my hair and shampooed it out afterwards, just like the instructions on the dye said. Well, specifically it said a pH balanced shampoo but since I had no idea what that meant, I just used Pantene. I put the dye in once my hair had dried and left in it for about a half an hour.
I had purchased the "Wild Red" and my hair is definitely wild, but it's more on the fuchsia side. However, for the low price and the easy application, I think it was worth it. I'll probably try a different color next time, since I don't exactly LOVE pink, but I actually like the way this looks in my hair. It may have worked better since I just bleached my hair before applying, but it still worked very well!

"TRIPPED UP TURQUOISE" --
So, when I first dipped my toes into the world of unnatural haircolour, this is the first brand I tried. It was easily accessible, and the price was right for a beginner. The results were pretty darned nice for the price.
The formula is nice and thick, so you don't have to worry about making a mess all over the place. The colour turned out even, and lasted two solid weeks before starting to fade. It faded in a rather interesting way, too... instead of going yellow or green, it faded into a light grey with blue tints. Old lady hair ftw!
A few pretty big gripes, though, are on the packaging. The bottle has almost no give, so the applicator nozzle is completely useless. And remember how I said the formula is thick? This is great to reduce mess, but considering the fact that the bottle has little to no squeezability, getting it out of the bottle is a right pain in the rear.
All in all, I liked this colour a lot. If I'm ever in the mood to go turquoise again, I'd probably fall back on this again.

i've used manic panic in the past and those have worked well on bleached hair. i was at Sally Beauty and saw this, and thought it was worth a shot. I followed the directions, and when I washed it off, all the color came off. No difference to my hair. I redyed it and the second time around when I washed it off it became a hint of blu-ish silver, not the "not so shy violet" color I was expecting. I will never purchase from this brand ever!

Okay so i worked all weekend to Bleach my hair white..(wow that was a lot of work.)
Then i used the "Candy Apple Red" and it looked great the first day i used it. I took a shower as i usually would after school and almost all my white/blond is not white or blond again.
I only had the color on for not even 24 hours and it was all gone in that matter of time. Once the rest of this bottle is gone i probably wont buy this again....it kinda sucks.
I would recommend this if you need to dye your hair for Halloween or a play maybe...but thats about it.

My hair is bleached white for my mohawk, put it in, left it for 2 hours (got distracted by a movie) and after the first washing most of it ran out of my hair. I got the Not So Shy Violet, which turned into a royal blue instead of purple like I expected. Two days later my hair is almost back to white. Definitely wouldn't waste the $8 on this again.. because honestly if I wanted something to last only a week, I'd use the spray ins again.

I'm not nearly as immpressed as with manic panic. It's too thick for the squeeze bottle it comes in. The colors are really nice, but not completely true to life.
I've been doing "hot" colors for over 20 years in my own hair and professionally for 17. These are decent but don't last as long as I like. They are good for mixing to create your own color and I reccomend ditching the bottle and pouring it into a bowl and apply with a color brush.
