my hair loves this stuff and i think it does a better job moisturizing my hair than cholesterol products. i shampoo my hair thoroughly, put some of this on my hair and scalp and work it through, detangle & rinse, then put my hair up in a towel. when my hair is taken out of the towel, i smooth on a bit more, then let my hair air dry as well as it can. yes, my hair is a bit greasy afterward, but i only do this on days when i don't intend to spend alot of time outdoors. the following day, i shampoo and condition with mane n tail original for the protein content, and afterward, my hair is softer, stronger, the brittleness is gone, and so are my dry ends.
i started doing this before i got a boy-cut in October, and have done this at least once a month ever since i cut my hair. it is now July and i've measured just over 8 inches of growth, my hair is just past my scapular, and i haven't had a split end to speak of--this is with me siliconing the crap out of my hair with a bunch of different hair products, letting it build up, and dry my ends out. it also seems to calm my scalp, which breaks out periodically due to weather fluctuations, overwashing, and trying new/different/horrible hair products.
it's nice on my face, but on my body, it's only okay. i actually kinda prefer the lotion for my body, because this product takes too long to soak in.
it's 5 bucks a jar, it's light and fluffy so with 15 oz you're getting alot of product, and it doesn't smell too strong like other cocoa butter products. i'd buy this product again--in fact, i've gone through quite a few jars in the 10 years i've used this. i highly recommend it.

This is my HG of body butters. Great fragrance, coverage, seals in moisture, overnight foot mask, whatever wherever. Amazing.
Very importantly it does not contribute to back-ne, which many of the heavier moisturizers do to me.
Love you Queen Helene!

Don't let the price fool you! This is an amazing product that makes my skin feel like a baby's. I wouldn't recommend this to someone with extremely oily or acne-prone skin or who can't handle strong scents. But I use this on my face as a moisturizer and to decrease the appearance of any dryness, redness or wrinkles. I put it on before bed because I find that it does take awhile to absorb into my skin. When I wake up, my skin looks better and feels so smooth! This is also a great product for sunburns, stretch marks and scars and can be used all over the body for a variety of purposes. It is easy to find and so affordable. Most women should have this product in their medicine cabinet or vanity!

Great product for an even greater price. The quality is up there with the Body Shop's body butters at a fraction on the price; however, my skin has become sensitive to the mineral oil in this product,so I'm not using it as much.

I have edema swelling in both ankles, feet and mid calves. The swelling and stretching has caused severe dry skin and scaly patches and ashy-ness. I found this at my local Dollar General for $1.
I exfoliated both legs from mid calves down to toes. Got a clump of the butter creme and started rubbing and rubbing and running it in. Wow! The drynes, tightness and itchiness is gone. I can't even get results like this from expensive lotions. The sunflower tattoo on my ankle appears washed out, ashy and very dull due to the dry skin. Now, it looks renewed and rejuvinated, as beautiful today as it was the day I got it in 1994.
This is so cheap and is a total work horse. Buy a jar and let it work hard for YOUR dry skin!!

This is the ONLY thing that worked when I was trying to ween my skin off of a steriod cream. Yes it is oily but that is what you need when trying to stop using steroids. I gave it 4 lippies because it does take a while to absorb, but when you awake in the morning you will notice a difference.

First of all, the main ingredients are mineral oil, water and wax. The cocoa butter is an after thought. Second, its loaded with dyes. I could deal with the mineral oil and waxes if they were not listed first since they do protect skin and seal in a layer of moisture. However, I can not tolerate unnecessary dyes. I know I am personally allergic to Red 33 and I suspect some of the other people, who indicated they experienced hives or allergies with this product, could be suffering from similar reactions from the dyes. Palmer's cocoa butter formula in a jar maybe a better alternative because it does not contain these dyes.

I don't find this greasy, provided I'm in an air conditioned place or a coolish to temperate room when I apply this. Actually, this stuff absorbs fairly quickly on me. I'm not bothered by the packaging because I always use a clean q-tip to get some out. I'm not put off by the smell, kind of like it, but if you're not into cocoa butter scents, don't get this.
Reasons for making my score a two. On the directions on the tub, it says to be applied to the face and the body. Well, it has lanolin in it. While lanolin is perfectly fine for a good portion of people, there are definitely people who have bad reactions with lanolin, especially applied on such a sensitive part as the face. There is also mineral oil in this. I'm not one of those anti-mineral oil people: I've known some people on MUA who've had great results with mineral oil. But, I think the effect of mineral oil in a facial moisturizer varies with people. To blithely say in directions to use as a facial moisturizer a product w/lanolin and mineral oil is simply foolish. The other major reason why my score is a two is because it's not moisturizing enough for sore, dry hands or really tough feet. Yeah, I'll get Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Creme again when money is tight, but not when I have enough money for imported German Nivea or Weleda Skin Food.
Update: With the weather getting cooler and drier, I found this product simply didn't do enough for my feet and hands. I threw it out while there was still close to half in the container. I'm changing it to a NO for the will you buy this again category.

Smells like quality dark chocolates without being cloying, absorbs easily and doesn't feel greasy but moisturizes well.

so far I am loving this product! and I've only used it once! Those who say it is too greasy really are over exaggerating. Okay it doesn't absorb all the way into your skin so I would never use it in the morning because there is no way I could put foundation on top of it. But it's perfect as a night cream to keep my face moisturized. There are so many pros to this product. It smells heavenly. It feels heavenly on your fingers when you take it out of the tub. The price is amazing! So much product for so little price! Plus you can do so many things with it! You can moisturize your whole body and face with it and even remove your makeup. I've also heard it's good for anti chaffing. Whenever I'm sitting around I love to just take it out and smell it because it smells so great. Really the only cons are the packaging because a tub is not very hygienic. However, I like the feeling of having products in a tub, especially something I am using as a night cream. Also if your skin is very oily you probably won't like something so thick on your skin as this product. But it's great! I'd recommend it to anyone. Queen helene really is a wonderful line of products.

WOW! What a great find! So one day i was searching in the lotion/shampoo isle trying to find something to include in a care package, to send to my best friend, who is currently in africa. She said to send her toiletries from home and i randomly found this lotion and thought this would be perfect to prevent from any drying that might occur from the intense african heat. Anyways...it ended up being too heavy to include so i decided to try it out myself, i wasn't expecting much for the $8 that i paid but i was surprised. It's got a great absorbent consistency. It's a greasier formula, hence the fact that it is a 'creme' and it does have a lot of nut oils etc in it. I love putting this lotion on right before bed, that way it has time to sink in. And then i wake up with soft supple skin. I also tan regularly and this really helps make sure my skin doesn't dry out between tans. For this price how could you go wrong? This would be especially good for drier skins.

This stuff is really good for dry skin.My feet and elbows get really dry in the winter and this has made them so soft.I had been looking for a good night cream and it says you can use it for your face too.My skin is oily so I hardly use any at all.It makes my skin super soft. Its really cheap too.The only thing I dont like is that its in a tub. When I try and get some product it gets stuck under my nails.

From reading reviews of this product, you either love it or you hate it. Personally, I love it. I have used the Queen Helene Mango and Cocoa Butter Lotion because it was cheap and it worked. But in winter time I suffer from "winter itch". My skin never looks dry or flaky but I get a tight feeling to it. I have used this for a few days, and I slather it on in the morning after my shower and wait a little bit for it to "soak in". This helps my skin stay hydrated all day long and greatly reduces that "itchy" feeling. Yes, it is a heavy cream and little goes a long way. It also smells a little like the beach due to the cocoa butter, but that smells disappears. I have no problem with my perfume interacting with it. The price cannot be beat @ $6 for a huge jar of product.
If you are one of those people, who in winter, feels like your skin is two sizes too tight, then this is the product for you. Available @ Sally Beauty Supply.

I love this stuff, but have to admit that it's not for everyone. My face was getting so dry this winter and my usual moisturizer wasn't cutting it. I started using this at night right before I go to bed and my face is much more moisturized.
It is very greasy, which is why I only use it at night, but I feel that's all I need. It's also great for elbows, knees and feet.

Ive been holding on to this big 15 ounce tub of cocoa butter for probably about 2 years now. I reached for it maybe a total of 4 times. Ive got normal/slightly combo skin that gets a tad dry in the winter. This is made for someone with severely dry skin (not me!!) that doesnt mind feeling like a total oil slick for hours on end after applying this garbage. I dont recommend this at all. This seems to just sit on top of my skin. I hate that oily feeling. Bleck.

I have used this off and on for for the last ten years. It is very different in consistency than palmer's cocoa butter formula. This is a softer consistency than palmer's, so it's easier to smooth on, but it takes longer to absorb.
Now that I am pregnant and winter is nearing, I find that I am using this often to sooth my parched skin and my ever growing belly.

HG product! I have SEVERELY dry skin, severe eczema, in fact. I use this nightly all over my face, and it's the only thing that keeps my face skin baby soft, smooth and hydrated. It is greasy, but as an eczema sufferer, that's exactly what I look for in a cream. I put a generous amount all over my face at night before I go to sleep, and by the time I wake up, it's completely soaked into my skin. I wake up with perfect skin. People always compliment my facial skin and tell me how smooth and clear it looks. My secret is this super cheap cream. It may contain mineral oil, but I believe it's a myth that mineral oil causes clogged pores--I've never had pimple problems with this cream, and I use it every night. Ladies with dry skin on your face: this is the answer to all of your dry skin woes!

This product does come off greasy at first. However, it absorbs into the skin eventually. It does have mineral oil. But for the price, creamy texture and cocoa butter this product is acceptable for daily use.
