I bought this product thinking it would give me sheer coverage, similar to a tinted moisturizer. I have extremely dry skin with some breakouts. This product is way too heavy and cakey on my face. In fact, I think it dries it out even more. It clings to the dryness and makes my face look like a dry, makeup caked mess. I think Smashbox tinted moisturizer a is much better product. I normally love all MAC products but I will not buy this product again.

If you are looking for sheer, non buildable coverage, and if you have normal to dry skin, then this would suitable for you. My skin is very oily with minor imperfections, so this foundation did not meet my needs as far as coverage goes. It also made my skin feel very greasy. For a tinted moisturizer, it didn't have a lightweight feel like others that I've used, such as Laura Mercier (which I would definitely recommend). Also, MAC has very unrealistic shades for their foundations. Their foundations are either very yellow in color or very pink. There is nothing in between. Most people have atleast a little pink in their skin. Having a very yellow foundation can make your skin look pale and sallow, which was what this foundation did to mine. So, all in all, I think this foundation is okay. Nothing special. If you have any imperfections or if your skin is oily, then I would not recommend this for you.

This product is for daytime makeup. If you don't want your face to look like having heavy makeup outdoor under sunlight, this foundation is for you. It makes your face look natural, sheer and fresh.
If you want to look good but not trying too hard or showing desperation or insecurity, this thing works the best for that reason. It's like you don't want to look stupidly overdressed and you don't want your face to look stupidly overdone for certain days or activities.
However, it doesn't give you a lot of coverage. So this product is for people who don't mind showing some freckles and don't try to cover flaws on their faces completely.
If you have many areas on your face you really want to hide, then don't buy it. It won't cover up for you. You might wonder why using this product if it doesn't cover. The purpose of this product is not to cover things up completely. It's for giving you a natural look as if you have natural healthy glowing skin, people can't tell you are wearing makeup. Yup! It gives you fresh glowing skin, it evens your skin tone a little but not covering flaws completely. Just like all the makeup, it makes your face reflect light (brightens your face). Your face does stand out because it's brightened but they don't know you are wearing makeup.
I don't mind wearing this for night time makeup either. It might not be a super obvious look for night time, it still brightens your face enough for the dark. It's still better than a dull face (no makeup) not reflect any light at night at all.
I found one totally matching my skin tone. You can't tell I have something on. I give it 4 stars because it would be nice if it's al little bit heavier to cover just a little bit more, just a little bit, not too much, tiny little bit. It would be perfect if it could do that.
The product will be discontinued soon. So if you like the product, stock up. I checked my new bottle, the expiration date is two years from now. You can buy enough bottles to be all set during these two years if you enjoy this product.

My husband bought this foundation for me a couple of years ago, when I had a MAC mu play around with colors on my face. She went all out and my husband ended up loving the look, so he wanted to buy everything she used. Which, included this sheer foundation.
I normally do not use liquid foundation. For the most part, my skin is pretty clear, but it can use something to even out the skintone. I only use this on the weekend to go out or to go to an event (I really do not have the time to put on makeup).
Once I have the foundation on, I put some sheer powder and it gives me a nice air brushed look. When I wear this, people are always complimenting me on my skintone and skin. I use an NC45 in both the foundation and powder. Like many posts have said, this is probably for a person who doesn't need too much coverage. Now, someone said that this is to be discontinued.....now I'm going to have to fugure out how to preserve this liquid foundation!

I didnt really get what i wanted. If you already have skin that fabulous, buy this. It will even out your skintone. But for me this didnt work at all, i love MAC but it doesnt give any coverage. I used to wear it under my makeup as a primer! It was rather expensive for not a lot, but as always the packaging was lovely. (:

I love MAC Select Tint for my dry, sensitive skin. A lot of foundations out there are super drying and irritating, but despite MAC's claims that it's oil free, it seems to hydrate my skin and keeps it from looking dull.
I purchased it for $30CAN in NC20. Select Tint is more of a moisturizing foundation as it has more coverage than a typical tinted moisturizer. The bottle is a soft, squeeze design and it makes dispensing easier than typical foundation bottles! I just squeeze a little onto the hand I'm not applying it with and use my foundation brush to apply and blend. It effectively covers redness and helps conceal blemishes and bags so you don't have to overdo the concealer.
It blends easily and wears the whole day! I've been through tons of foundations and tinted moisturizers and had yet to find one that didn't wear off by the end of the day. MAC is long-wearing, even under warm conditions and doesn't streak when you sweat!
Because my skin is sensitive, I usually react to a lot of products out there and Select Tint doesn't have any of the irritants that a lot of makeup has.
Definite HG!

I bought this because I've wanted a tinted moisturizer for quite a while and MAC is the first place I turn for foundations. I wanted something lightweight that wouldn't make me feel made up and that would even out my skin-tone without making me look like I was wearing makeup.
I believe I got this in NC20, although NW20 would have been fine or possibly preferable (I didn't see NW20 on the site at the time), since it's what I normally wear (sometimes NW15). My skin does lean further towards neutral than pink, though, so I can wear both NW and NC and have in the past. While it looks a bit yellow for me in the bottle, it blends in perfectly when it's applied on my skin with clean fingers (I plan on trying alternate methods of applying it in the future, namely a foundation brush and a kabuki brush to see how it looks) and makes me look incredibly natural and not made up.
If you're looking for something with more than sheer coverage, Select Tint isn't for you. Really. It doesn't build well (and, really, tinted moisturizer isn't meant to be built up) and applying it heavily ruins the look of it on the skin. But for me, it's perfect.
I apply Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Powder (100% finely milled silica) to set my Select Tint and it looks flawless but sheer, which is just what I want. I don't have bad skin by any means, but I do have some redness in my cheeks and nose (my nose in particular) and this gives me enough coverage to even that out. I actually think the yellow undertones in the NC20 might be helping cover the redness in my cheeks. I do sometimes get the occasional pimple here and there and this isn't so great for covering them up, but that's a minor complaint and something that doesn't make me love it less.
I like that the bottle on this is plastic (I'm not afraid of dropping it like some other liquid MAC foundations) and the dropper is nice because it allows me to squirt out just a little (you don't need much) instead of pouring it out, but Select Tint is very thin and it's still easy to get more than I want with only gentle squeezing and it's impossible to put back in, hence a rating of 3 for packaging.
I do have to say that it's more of a sheer foundation than a tinted moisturizer, though. The moisturizing factor isn't very high, but that may be due to the very small amount I need to apply to do my entire face. It doesn't dry my skin out like some other MAC foundations have, though, and I've never had an issue with breakouts (again like some MAC foundations have caused) or irritation to my sensitive skin.
I'm very disappointed that this is being discontinued, but I have 4 bottles stashed away (including the one I'm using). Once I run out, I'll figure out what to replace it with.

I got a sample of this to try since I love MAC's other sheer consistency foundation, Face & Body Foundation. But unlike F&B, the Select Tint does not cover as well as F&B and I find that I can only use this on good skin days as I have post-acne scars on my face. Another downside when comparing to MAC's F&B foundation is that Select Tint comes in a similar shaped bottle but a much smaller size, so I would predict that the amount of foundation won't last me very long.
But I have to say that it is moisturising and feels very nice on my skin during drier days, which is a real plus! =)
*UPDATE* To those ladies who love Select Tint and can't live without it, you may want to stock up. I believe MAC is discontinuing this product soon. Says so on their website. Listed under "Picks> Goodbyes".

This wasn't what I wanted! Have to mention that this is not really a foundation but more like something that evens out the skin tone a bit for those fortunate enough blessed with good looking skin. It didn't give any coverage at all. I like Mac products and it's nothing wrong with the product, it just wasn't suited for me so I don't want people to be scared away, just buy it with the knowledge that it doesn't transform your skin from frumpy to flawless.

i use nc50/nc45.....depending on the season, and i adore it. perfect for covering up any small imperfections. it is very light and natural looking. mac is the only line that does not brake my skin out and doesnt clog my pores. i must admit it can get oily, about halfway through the day. so that is usually the time i do a slight re-aplying...then everything is perfect again...saves me from using mosturizer underneath...i luv that it has spf 15...do i dare say that it may have actually helped my skin..

ive been using this for a couple of years now and i always get comments on my skin whenever i wear this. people never believe me when i say im wearing makeup because it blends in so well with your skin! warning - this is only for girls who want slight coverage and have pretty good skin in the first place. so if you want something to turn your skin from ruddy to flawless, this is not the product for you! im usually a nc30 but because its so sheer i can get away with nc40 (mixed in with a tiny bit of moisturiser) which gives me a nicer glow on my pale winter skin. i guess the only con is the cheap looking packaging, but other than that LOVE IT!

Rediculous! I'm glad it was only a sample. After a light, quick jog in cool weather, I had glaring stripes and clumps across my face (I applied it less than an hour before). I've never come across a product with such poor lasting power. Not even slight migration, clumps! Also, the coverage was nil, the shade was off, and I had several red bumps by the end of the day, as with most MAC foundations I've tried. I absolutely hated this poor quality product, but it seems to work well for some. Try a sample first!

Absolutely not for me!!
I am not a huge fan of MAC ( I know this is overly popular and I may seem unpopular, but I do think MAC is overrated and it's a lot about marketing).
However, being as curious as a cat and as I always like to try new stuff and I trust my fellow MUAer reviewers, I decided to buy some of the MAC foundations (and powders) some time ago on a shopping spree in Milan (as MAC is not found everywhere here in Italy, you need to go to big cities).
Select Tint is an average foundation, I hate the bottle, so cheap. I do not like the scent, I find it unpleasant and kinda medicinal. Classic wide colour range, this is a plus.
It is very easy so spread and apply, this is true. However, it provides little to no coverage. So to me it is more comparable to a Tinted moisturizer than to a Foundation. No coverage, little staying power (holds kind a two hours then gets super shiny). Basically, a useless product.
I swapped it time ago, as to me it was really nil.

I've had this product for a while now... it's more of a sheer coverage foundation more so than a tinted moisturizer. I find that after a while, my face looks really oily and causes it to "melt" off my face after a while (even with a primer)... it's pricey as well (as is with all MAC products)... i wouldn't buy this again i don't think... (if i ever finish the bottle) -- i do like the packaging however as it's very sanitary except for the fact that it oozes out too much for some reason and gets the inside of the cap all messy...

Well i'm not really sure about this just yet, i've used it 3 times now, ( got a sample) and there has not been a major noticeable bumps or reaction, and i can't tell the difference if my bumps were there before or i've developed it!! which really sucks,
Other than that the texture is thin but enough to cover uneven skin tone, i LOVE the colour match and made my skin so smooth and flawless, NC 44 is my match ( using BB Honey, I think Honey is a wee to dark for me)
I'm just going to stop using it for a while and see if the small bumps on my forehead goes away, if they don't then that means it's just my skin being funny and i can go buy this because i actually really love it so much

I love how sheer this product is. Provides some coverage for a more even look without looking "made up". I do have problems with it being too moisturizing. I get oily after a few hours and there is noticeable shine. But I will repurchase.

As everyone else has already stated, this is less of a tinted moisturizer and more of a really sheer foundation. I have this in NC30, which is a bit light, but it blends in pretty well once I work it into my skin (though seeing as summer is coming up soon I'll probably need to purchase NC40 as well to mix colors or something). I've been using it for about a week now and I love it! It's enough to even the skintone but not to cover blemishes, but most of all IT'S BREATHABLE. Compared to the Studio Tech I've been using since winter, this is a nice, lightweight break for my skin. I imagine it will be even better in the hotter summer months when your skin isn't so forgiving to foundations. It does go on a bit sparkly (so strange... my Select Cover-up does this as well) but I always make sure to set it with a bit of Blot powder and then I go over it with some mineral powder. It creates a really soft, flawless look, but still very natural.
I'm not satisfied with the amount of product for the price I paid though. I purchased it online and when it arrived, I couldn't help but feel a little bit cheated; the bottle is so tiny.

Hello...if any of you are lookin for a foundation with good coverage, this is DEFINITELY NOT for you.
As the name states, select TINT, it only acts to even out the skintone, but if u have lots of acne scars and pitholes, you are better off using a full coverage foundation. This product is mainly for girls with relatively good and clear skin whose only problems are uneven skintone.
For me, i love this loads as i don't like to wear full coverage foundation on a daily basis. It makes my face look made up and ready to go even though i don't use a powder over it to set it.
I am on my 2nd bottle now and will definitely be re purchasing it.
