I love the colors of NARS available. They are amazing- it's just too bad the quality is lacking so horribly. This doesnt last well- bottle or nails. It gets very goopy very quickly and is much too expensive for what you get.

Nars Schiap is my very favorite summer color for my toes! It's a little too bright for my fingers, but it's perfect for peeking out of sandals.
I borrowed (umm...okay...STOLE!) my first bottle of Schiap from my little sister, and it lasted 2 years! I'm not even kidding! It's pricey but totally worth it.
It has great staying power, too. If I paint my toes before a vaca, it stays on all week, even if I dig my piggies in the sand! Definitely give it a shot.

Nars' nail polishes are packaged a lot like Chanel's, and the price is in the same league as well. But I find Nars' bottle design to be more elegant, and its selection of nudes/pinks/ivorys is better edited too ('candy darling' is my personal fave). That may sound basic, but the nudes/pinks/ivorys look expensive on, and that's why I haven't felt compelled to find a cheaper alternative in Essie. However, they're on the sheer side, and three coats are required if you want to get the effect as advertised. Despite the praise, I give only a lukewarm rating for two reasons: First, outside the nude/pink/ivory family, the colors are fairly outlandish. They look like something Mac would put out. For Halloween. Second, at $15 apiece I expect the product to be multi-functional, but because it is neither good at filling in ridges or resistent to chipping, you can't skip the base and top coats.

Horrible nail polish, really quite terrible. Did not last at all and started chipping almost immediately. What a waste of money - I will be throwing this out. Never, again.

this is so strange because i have had exactly the opposite experience with Nars nail polish. i put Platoon on six days ago, forgot to do a top coat, and it only chipped yesterday in my art class. i think it's fantastic quality and is one of the longest lasting polishes i have used. weird that i've had a different experience to everyone else - i use Nailtiques protein as a base coat, if that makes a difference.

I am so glad to find I am not alone in thinking that Nars nail polishes are the worst on the market. I have bought every kind of nail polish from the cheapest to the most expensive and never had any polish chip off as fast or completely as Nars. I would NEVER buy another Nars nail polish and think they should be ashamed just to release such a shoddy product.

The trick to taming the chippable NARS polishes is to have a great base coat (I use Creative Stickey) and a bullet-proof top caot (Seche Vite here!). The color are so unique and vibrant that the extra "handling" they require makes them worth it :) 2 of my favorites are Full Metal Jacket and Schiap. A bit expensive for the trouble, but again, isn't anything you love worth the extra effort?

The colors are so interesting and different and, to be honest, I still haven’t found anything similar to the three polishes I bought: Arabesque, Bohemia and Orpheus. Unfortunately even w/ Seche Vite Top Coat and Stickey Base Coat these chipped easily and lasted only a few days. I would much rather buy two OPI or Chanel Polish than these ever again.

Love every one I've ever bought or swapped for! The colors are really unusual (IMHO) and very sophisticated. My top favorites are Transformer (goes with any clothing or makeup color) and Pussy Galore (such a fabulous pink w/gold undertones).
No they don't stay on forever but that's what topcoats are supposed to do!

This polish chips very easily, so I won't buy it again. A better alternative in the same price range is a polish by Chanel. Chanel's polishes last much longer! Otherwise, stick with OPI.

I have this in Jungle Red (I got it a part of a 2 pack with Dolce Vita Lipstick!) and I think it's quite lovely. A real red. Sharp.

Points for gorgeous and unique shades, but nothing will make me purchase these nail polishes again. They chip faster than even the cheapest drugstore polish, and are difficult to apply, as well as taking ages to dry. Sigh. Why, Francois?

Though these polishes chip on me faster than others such as OPI, I'll have to admit that I would buy some again because of the unique colors.

Most of these colors can be found at CVS for much much cheaper. For instance, Arabesque looks just like Maybelline Pink Stars. The staying power isn't great at all, the polish tends to chip off pretty quickly on my nails. They retail $15.

I have Jungle Red -- perfect red for me (LM Sunny Beige, MAC NC30). Doesn't chip for two weeks on my toes, though I have never applied the color myself, my manicurist does.

This is the worst nail polish I have ever used. Consistency is terrible. Plus, I put it on in the evening--by midmorning the next day, most nails had major chips!

I love this polish! I got a pedicure and had them use it on the tosies...a month later, still chip free! Truly amazing polish!! I've tried just about everything, and I will definitely be buying more NARS nail polishes...I love Schiap, beautiful Hot Pink color!!

As I sit in front of my computer, with my toes wrapped with tissue paper, all I have to say is thank God I didn't spend the money on this nail polish. I swapped for this in Pussy Galore, and the color is very beautiful but this is so not worth the money. I usually use either OPI or Essie nail polish, and they much better. This nail polish is extremely thick and the consistancy is just horrible. The minute I put on my top coat, it dragged and clumped the color. If you're looking to shell out the money just because of the color, OPI makes a similar color that is nearly identical called Argenteeny Pinkini and for a little more money, Victoria's Secret make one that is close but a little more on a purpley side called Provacative Pink. Save your money on this one.

the colours (Gimme Shelter in particular) are beautiful but the polish chips extremely quickly, even with a good topcoat. a bit of a disappointment. fyi, Orpheus is easily recreated by mixing black polish with red Sephora glitter - they look identical, even when compared side by side.
i'd only rebuy if there truly was no colour like it in another brand.

Pricey, but without a doubt worth it. I love the color selection Nars has. It has some very unique and interesting shades no other brand has. For example Orpheus is a black polish with millions of tiny red sparkles in it. The effect looks very sophisticated and sexy (not goth or childish) They are long lasting as well. For regular colors (like clear top coat) by all means go for a cheaper brand. But certain colors are well worth the price tag!
