My husband received this as a gift, so I'm getting to use it up for him! The smell is strong and weird--I've been thinking about it for months, and I think I've got it exactly--rotting pumpkin guts. The mask is really inconsistant in color--it's mostly flat green, but there are some darker green and blue swirls in it. I love the texture--very creamy and easy to spread around; not so easy to wash off my hands. Since it's so drying, I've taken to applying it just before I take a hot bath, and let it kind of steam my pores. It never completely dries, but I see smooth results anyway. It definitely takes a washcloth to get it all off, though. Stubborn stuff! I'm enjoying it, but it's too expensive to repurchase for un-stupendous. I can't speak for how well it clears skin--I very rarely have any breakouts, I just use it for pore-tightening and smoothing purposes. My jar is now 6 months old and 2/3 gone, and not drying out in the least.

This is my second bottle of this rare earth cleansing masque. I have combo to oily sensitive skin. I love how soothing my face is after using it and you can literally see all of your pores opened up after it. And i'd use some facial scrubs (philosophy) to exfoliate the dead skin and oil on the pores following by putting on rose mask by fresh to tightening and hydrating the pores/face. If you're my skin type, i'd recommend u to try it out first with some samples. Kiehls usually gives generous amount of samples if you ask them.

(The one I got is a jar, not in a tube.) I don't agree with the negative comments either, but i guess different products are good for different skin.
In fact, I love this product very much. Here is my home facial routine: 1. clean my face with non-acid cleanser 2. put on kiehls rare earth mask and you can actually feel and see that your pores are being opened!!! 3. since all the pores are opened, I can exfoliate the dirts and oil embeded in my skin with clearasil acne preventing scrubs. If I have any whiteheads, blackhead I would squeeze them out before/after the exfoliation 4. tighten my skin again with burt's bee pore refining mask 5. apply my toner and have a good night sleep. This routine helps me to clear up my skin, kill and flatten my "period pimples", so that my concealor can cover my acne perfectly the next day!

I dont agree with any of the other negative comments. This masque came off very easily and with no flaking. it did not stain my wash cloth, but this is not a masque you sleep in. it is a masque you use for about 15 minutes. my skin felt clean and looked very healthy. i liked the consistency and i found nothing wrong with the packaging! another great kiehls product

The product is dry yet the coverage is great. I agree the jar package is an annoyance.

Bad product...does absolutely nothing! I have been trying to finish my first tub (i give it credit for being more on the larger size)i have gotten more than 20 uses out of this tub and still after 20 trials no results.
It's so darn expensive thats why i am forced to finish it up. Does nothing for clogged pores etc.
Avon clear skin mask, in my opinion works better.

This masque is very soothing to my skin. I put this on my nose and cheeks last night and left it on overnight. In the morning when I washed it off, I can literally feel the oil coming out of my skin from the masque. However I had to use a wash cloth to clean off the masque cus it sat in my pores as little white dots. The masque did not help with my oiliness, as I've only used it for one night. Compared to Queen Helene Mint masque, this is much more soothing, but to get a good benefit to my skin, I'll use QH masque instead.

This product made my skin worse! I didn't think a mask could make your skin break out but this was horrible. The packaging does not make it easy to use since the mask is hard to scoop up and ends up in your fingernails. I had high hopes for this mask (used it foolishly for 2 months) but my skin hated it.

I love the way this mask feels on my face! It's just so soothing. I have oily skin and this maks sucks the oil right out of my pores. I like mixing this with the Asparin Mask sometimes also and it's ABSOLUTE HEAVEN! I gave it a 4 because the mask didn't end my long term oily skin issues, but it is a nice mask. I definetly will repurchase...

I got some samples of this from Kiehls. I don't like it at all. It really didn't do anything to me. My skin didn't feel clean, clam or refresh afterward. It didn' reduce my pimple or zit or unclog my pore. Even when I apply it on, I don't feel anything special. It is such a useless product. Dont' waste your money.

This is one of the worst masks I've ever used! I got nothing from this at all - no help to my skin, no soothing calm in the bathtub (awful stench), no glow afterwards. Certainly not worth the money.

I use this twice a week and have no complaints. I have very oily skin and the SA recommeded I use this to help. So far, so good. It does leave my skin soft rather than stripped dry when I wash it off. I have no idea what is in this product but it has a slight "jelly" like feel when you touch it in the jar. Its stings a little when I apply it but that fades as it dries. The scent reminds me of pureed veggies....not sure I like that. I do prefer it over sulfur based masques I have tried in the past so if this continues to work, I will buy it again.

This mask was very basic but, okay. The main drawback was that it is a clay-based mask, so it is naturally dry. It is also packaged in a screw-top jar so needless to say, it dries up far before you are finished with the container. I don't think I even got halfway through before my jar was too dry to be usable. If it was repackaged into a tube it would be much better.

At first i was really excited to try this and really thought it would have a great scent like Kiehls hair products. Not so, the scent is pretty bad! But, it didn't bother me too much when i put it on my skin. The directions say to leave on for 15-20 minutes but it was really dry and hard after just 10 minutes so i went ahead and rinsed.
I do have enlarged pores and my skin has been a bit dull looking lately. This made my skin very smooth and seemed to diminish my pores a little bit. Definately helped my blackheads on my nose, though. My skin isn't as oily as it has usually been and my makeup seemed to go on a bit smoother, too. I have a little bit left in the sample pack, i think i'll try it again for the full 15-20 minutes this weekend and see how i like it again. Not sure that it does more for me than m usual, cheapo mask though.

This is the best cleaning masque for me. It sucks white head out while not overstripping skin like Borghese Fango/Active Mud. It even calms down my skin when it's irritated. my skin is soft, clean, and calmed after using it. Definitely buy it again.

A good solid mask, particularly for oily
acne-prone skin. When used 2x a week, it
helps to keep pores clean and appear
smaller. A little goes a long way,
so it's worth the price (like most
Kiehls products). The only drawback is
the color of the mask--it doesn't easily
wash out of washcloths; thus one should dedicate
specific washcloths just for removing this mask.

I brought this in sheer desperation to help calm down the stubborn spots I have on my jawline. This did help immensely over night..however I went totally overboard with this product. I used ut 3 nites in a row (around half an hour a time) and also tried using it as a spot treatment, bad move because it was too much for my skin to handle. I will use it again when my skin has calmed down in a few days. Then I will use it every 2-3 days and ONLY for 20 minutes! If you use this product wisely and dont get over excited by its initial wonders then this potentially is a staple product for anyone with acneic skin.

I got a sample of this one and I swear I won't buy it!!! This product is a nightmare for me. It burned my face and left me a red nose and forehead the first time I used it.Took me 2 days to recover. I have a pretty strong combination skin and not sensitive at all. Really don't understand why this one worked so bad on me.
