This is an excellent lotion that delivers what it promises. As the third step in the Jan Marini 5 step program it resurfaces, helps clear up and control my acne and used sparingly as a spot treatment a few times a day is better then any other product I have tried. I apply this lotion first and then a layer of the Age Intervention Transition Lotion, as I'm 35. These two products have done more for my breakouts and the over all surface of my skin then all of the other products that I have tried in the past. I have had acne for about 10 years (I'm 35) and it's mostly hormonal. There is no noticeable smell and the lotion is absorbed into the skin quickly. A little goes a long, long way and two pumps covers me from neck to forehead.
When you first start this lotion or the cream, use only one time per day (generally night is the best time) and allow your skin the ability to build up a tolerance. I had a mild amount of redness (nose, chin and cheek areas) which resolved itself after a few days. Some stinging but nothing painful and that to went away after a few days. I use this twice a day now and have been for the last month. Love it! I wish I had found this skin care line years ago. I paid $60.50CDN for it.

By using this treatment, it's like you're getting a nightly facial while you're asleep. The first week was a bit rough because of the stinging sensation and dreadful peeling. But after my skin acclimated to this product, I would wake up each morning with soft, smooth skin. This is really HG for me.

I had a very painful cystic acne breakout from an allergic reaction to Bare Essentuals (please see my review on BE for more info). Believe me, I did a lot of research and tried various treatments, even including lasers and chemical peels. Then I found this Jan Marini Bioglycolic Bioclear Cream, which stung a little in the beginning and caused some purging but after reading all the positive reviews, I stuck with it and I'm very glad I did. It's a heavier cream from what I am used to but I use it nightly and wake up with improvements every time. My cystic acne is almost gone, the red leftover marks are fading well and the scars are less visible although I think I'll need to try something more drastic for the scars to fully disappear. I still have some very light purging but it is a world of difference from before. Now when I touch my face, it's smooth and there aren't hundreds of big painful red bumps everywhere.
I use the cream (at night only, too heavy for day) along with the Jan Marini Bioglycolic Facial Cleanser (morning) and M.D. Forte III Cleanser (night) and I try to do biweekly Lactic Acid and Glycolic Acid peels and finally my skin is SO much better. It still has a bit to go but I am so relieved and impressed with the improvements so far. I normally had to use a pound of makeup to try and cover-up all the acne marks but now I just do light spot cover-ups.
I'm on my 2nd jar of the cream now. I've been using it for 3 months. I think my skin is pretty strong to handle all the chemicals (cleanser & peels) but I would caution others to build up the tolerance. The first week or so I did alternating days with the Bio cleanser and now I use it daily and once in a while when my skin gets a little dry, I'll skip a day. I still get some light monthly hormonal breakouts but it's nothing compared to the BE makeup reaction. For me, this cream has been working well, it could also be due to my overall skincare ritual but I really feel like this cream has been and is now an important part of my daily routine.

I have combi/sensitive/acneprone skin; So far, I've only been using the Bioclear wash and Bioclear cream at night and I am incredibly happy with the results. I experienced mild 'purging' as I was told I would but it all went away within 2 days or so.
2 pumps of the wash cleanses my whole face. I apply with dry hands on dry face and let it sink in while i brush my teeth etc. afterwards I use damp hands and massage in some more and wash off. Leaves my skin feel smooth and soft.
The cream is more like a gel-based cream, and you only need a tiny little bit; it sinks right into the skin and moisturizes and controls oil as well. I wake up to smooth glowing skin and for the first time I don't have to wake up to new blemishes on my face!

After reading the amazing reviews for this product, I decided to take the plunge. I ordered the Lotion from Dermstore.com, and it arrived very promptly. The first few days of usage, I broke out in a scattering of whiteheads but after a week, they quickly cleared up. My skintone is more even and best of all, I have no breakouts! Right before I began using Bioclear, I had several stubborn clogged pores on my jawline that had been on my skin for a long time and a few breakouts on my chin. But the Bioclear Lotion cleared them right up! This product is very potent, so I recommended using the tiniest amount when you began using it. I did experience some dryness and flaking for the first week, but it eventually went away (with the help of MB's Healing Cream). If you plan to use this product during the day, please apply a liberal amount of sunscreen about 15 minutes after you apply the Lotion.
( I wrote and posted this review under a different screen name, but wanted to re-add it under my current name :) )

I use Bioclear cream, which works perfectly, no breakouts at all. Full hydration all day. Only one concern, the smell of the cream...Anybody else has a problem, with the smell too? I reckon, like an off cream..

The Bioclear cream is not so good, but the Bioclear lotion is very good. Opt for the lotion if want to buy this product

Am on my second bottle of this and love it. since using this, my skin is clearer and I suffer from less breakouts. I use this about 4-5 times a week only as if I use it any more my skin can get red and irritated from it. especially around my nasal lip area.
A little goes a long way and my first bottle must have lasted 6 months. I use about 2 pumps for my whole face and follow up with other Jan Marini products too. I love this line, but esp this and her cleanser. This has also helped to fade away some stubborn acne marks.

I've been using this off and on for a few months, along with the bioglycolic facial cleanser. I don't think it's had that much of an effect on my skin, except leaving it with a shiny plastic look. Not sure if I can explain it, but I definitely couldn't use this in the day or my face would be an oil slick. Didn't work for me so I won't be repurchasing.

HG Alert! I finished the pump which I never do with most skincare products. It is a bit shiny and does sting as others have commented but this has made my sensitive acne prone skin super clear and almost transparent. My skin is much clearer and much more hydrated. Just love this and the entire line in general!

I have been using Bioclear lotion as one of my steps to the Jan Marini Skin Research skin care management system for almost two years.
I don't know how I ever lived without this. I no longer have breakouts.
my pores on my nose is much smaller and skin clearer.
Great resurfacer for acne, hyperpigmentation and sun damage.

This product is very drying, which makes acne -prone oily skin even oilier inside (reaction of the oil glands), and flaky dry outside. I used up the whole bottle and yes, it did dry up some pimples, but overall skin appearance, especially the oiliness, didn't improve at all. I am now using Olay anti aging - anti blemish moisturizer and LOVE it.

This product is pretty good if you're willing to go through the horrible breakout period......it definitely made my skin smoother, got rid of all the little bumps I had on the side of my face and forehead...however, I did have to go through 2 MONTHS of horrible breakouts..even cystic acne, which I don't usually get.

I used to use this over a year ago, it may have been smewhat effective I suppose alongside bioglycolic cleanser. I remember it was rather pricey for such a small bottle. I also remember it stung (bareably) and it made my face SUPER SHINEY- NOT a good look. I could only ever apply nightly as its not user friendly for day time/outside wear unless you like the idea of letting others view thier reflection in your greasy face!
UPDATE March 2010:
I dont know what i intially found greasy about this time ago when i used it before because having recently tried it again, i just found it drying (minus any stinging). Any breakouts that i'd go to bed with the night before are still there the next day so to me this is ineffective. This is one product i can honestly say i've never seen a good enough difference with (not like with the cleanser) and for the amount you get its ridiculously priced.

I'm using the serum and I love it. I've been using this since March 7, 2008 and it has kept me clear all month, even through my PMS. I have a cluster of spots on my left cheek that is fading. It's great that I don't have to use hydroquinone which makes my skin look worse. I love the texture of the serum as it sinks in and makes my skin soft. It doesn't dry my skin and my skin is acne prone, yet dry. I use the entire Jan Marini line and it really works.

I have tried everything for my mild but persistent acne, and this cream is the only thing (other than a mild cleanser like dhc deep cleansing oil) which has helped. I've definitely tried other AHA/BHA treatments but this one is different. I've been using it about 2 years and it has reduced the frequency of my breakouts and speeds up the healing of anything that does pop up.
some observations:
1. It stings. A LOT at first.
2. it makes me shiny.
3. i tried the bioclear lotion for a few weeks , but it made me break out.
4. doesn't do much for my blackheads, but really helps with inflammation and pimples.

I wish I would have liked this more than I did, but the initial purging period went on...and on...and on. It got to the point where it wasn't purging - it was just making me break out.
To its credit, it did quickly clear up the pimples it caused. :)
I'd still recommend others try this, as most people have great results and I'm in the minority.
Advice if you do try it - - do NOT pick your face while using this product! The brown, slpotchy marks the arise as a result aren't worth it!

I am new to MUA and Jan Marini Bioclear. was using Darphin Clear White Brightening cream and Serum, forom which I developed the worst break out ever!
I had slight blamish marks before, but after Darphin for a month, my blemishes hav increased in regulrity and size. I therefore did my research and decided to try Jan Marini.
It has been three days now and I seem to have broke out a bit more, but will be patient for a month or so. I am using theBio Glycolic Oily Skin gel, both day and night. At night , I am using th Bio Clear Lotion and Transformation Cream as a moisturiser.
In the day time, I am using the Deleor moisturing emulsion, so watch this space. i will update and hopefully, I will join the Jan Marini followers. Fingers crossed!

This did not work for me. I have tried several different glycolic products, and I have come to believe that my skin just does not tolerate them. This, like the other glycolic serums I have tried, just gave me awful cystic breakouts:( Oh, and the pump broke after one day. Come on people...dont put an expensive product in a crappy package.

I LOVE this product! I have worked for many spas both medical and day, I have tried everything! Obagi, Skincueticals, IS Clinicals, Clinique, Lancome, Nuetragena, Proactive, Replenix you name it I tried it. Everything always had sooo many steps and products involved it was quite exhausting. I had a really bad breakout happen due to the use of another product. It pigmented my skin and I had breakouts. I went on the bioclear and the jan marini sunscreen only, I had amazing results within 1 month! Extremely happy will continue to use.
