Well....my use for this as I need more moisture is for my sons. My oldest is 8.5 and my youngest 3. They have dry skin in the winter and it itches them so this is what they get on their face each night. Their skins is beautiful.
Yes....I know they are young but they deserve it and it works where as nothing else had for them.

I have used this on and off for several years now. It works well for me in the winter, I have slightly dry and sensitve skin. Although I'm constantly looking for a new moisturizer because the price of this is quite high to me at $55 for about a 1-1 1/2 month supply. Also, the new packaging has a pump, and is extremely hard to open, I always feel like there is more product left in the bottom that is being wasted. I probably will buy this again, but am looking for a cheaper moisturizer that is as good as this one. I also love the way this smells-very clean and the texture is creamy.

A plain mineral oil based moisturizer. I once bought it when my skin was very dry and damaged, but it was not very helpful at all. Like one of the reviewers, I felt that this cream did not provide enough moisture for me. Like gentle night cream, it's rich but not hydrating (it just coats the skin: I have this problem with many mineral oil based creams). However, this cream has a very nice finish (nourished but not too greasy), and felt nice on skin. If your skin is not very dehydrated, it can work. IMO, in clarins gentle range, their repair serum is the best product (for me it really made a difference).

I've used this a few times & I always seem to use it as a back up when my skin is really dry. I think if I ever came accross a moisteriser that suits my sensitive skin better than I probably wouldn't use this again!

This came in a great package, love the innovative dispenser. The cream was ok. Sat on top of my skin and fet oily. Needed a seperate SPF also which was a pain. The mild scent was not too overbearing, but a very ordinary cream for the price.

This is, and has always been a perfect shoice for sensitive skins. I sold this line in the 80's and it was a constant best seller. My account executive, who was a man, swore by this stuff. I had a faithful following with the Gentle Day and Night creams. Ultra soothing, and especially good for men! This was years before the Clarins Man line. I's still use this over the Man line any day! If you're sensitive give this one a shot. It's been reformulated over the years, and it still maintains it's following!

I have sensitive combination skin and this is one of the few moisturisers that actually works without irritating my skin. It absorbs quickly and leaves my skin wonderfully soft. I even like the smell.

I have rosacea and sensitive skin. Like so many moisturers that are for sensitive skin, Clarins seems to assume that "sensitive" equals "dry". I have an oily T-zone and this cream made that area incredibly greasy. The product comes in a jar with a top you press down on and the cream comes out of a hole in the top, so that it isn't exposed to air; I liked that. I wish I liked this product more; it didn't irritate my skin at all, but it is just too heavy for me. I even tried the "lighter" version of this, and it was still too oily. I switched to the Sothys line of skin products for rosacea/sensitive skin, and those are more suitable for me.

Not recommended for snesitive and dry skin. Once I used this in morning and gentle night cream at night. My face was immediately dehydrated after applying this cream. I stopped using it. I gave it another try when weather got warmer. But the result was the same. So if you also have dry skin, this might not be the right moisturizer for you. But gentle night cream is not bad. As for day cream, I would recommend Multi-Active day cream(provention plus) for dry skin, which is much much better than this one.

I'm using a sample of this.I like the way this cream feel: it's moisturizing enough for winter, sinks in quite fast and leaves my skin soft. Because it doesn't have spf, I'd use it mostly when ging out at night (it has an anti-pollution filter)

I have been using mine now for about 4 months and there is still no sign of it running out. There seems to be lots in the 'airless jar' but a disadvantage is that you can't see how much is left. This is a shame but overall this moisturizer is an excellent bread and butter product. As soon as I put it on my skin feels more comfortable. Compared to other moisturisers I have used (Clinique Dramatically Different for instance) it takes a little longer to sink in but it doesn't give me the 'sting' effect that other moisturisers do. And I can vouch that it is definitely gentle. This is one of the best moisturisers I have used and I can't see myself switching anytime soon. The final bonus for me is that when I'm travelling I can go to a clarins counter anywhere and ask them to give me a sample size to take with me - and they always will!

Got this as a sample. I still think the Gentle Night Cream beats this one hands down. It soothed my face and made it exceptionally soft. This one is too expensive for me to pruchase when I can wear the Night one during the day if I need to. Prefer the Multi-active Day cream to this one for daytime. And no sunscreen.. what's that about?

The perfect moisturizer for dry, very sensitive, and young skin. can be followed with a heavier moisturizer in dry seasons.

I likes the smell. But it's too oily & thick(i'm normal/combo) It doesn't make me break out. So i guess it's better to use it in winter & best for dry skin.

since it's summer time i have to watch out for occasional chin zits. i'm indoors on many days, so i decided to splurge on this. and wow! i like how the bottle makes it so that you only get out the desired amount, so if just your chin is dry, you can just use it on that. its smell is soft, and it goes on and absorbs really well, not greasy or heavy. i even put it on when i have a zit or something, along with my zit gel, and it doesn't irritate. i love clarins!

I have been using this product for years with very good results. I have dry/sensitive skin and find this a very soothing product that is one of the few moisturizers that does not break me out. For me the product soaks right in, but it does leave a healthy glow and makeup application is improved. I DELIGHT in the fact that this product does NOT have sunscreen. Although I live in Florida and must be very careful that my fair skin does not burn, I have never had good luck with any creams that contain sunscreen in them. If I need sunscreen, I would just as soon put it on separately after my moisturizer has soaked in. I buy makeup with SPF 15 and apply it after Gentle Day Cream has been applied. My skin feels great and I get compliments on having nice skin. I didn't get that when I was younger because my skin was so easily irritated, red and blotchy. Thanks to Clarins sensitive skin care line I get more compliments in my late 30's than I ever did as a teenager or even in my 20's. This regime works for me.

My Mom passed a GWP tube of this Gentle Day Cream for me. I have tried few Clarins skincare items but not impressed. So, I did not expect any amazing or great result.
I used it in the morning. The cream is creamy (of couse, as suggested by its name) but not heavy. It is hydrating and makes my skin glowing. After few hours, my skin is still so smooth and very soft. I like it very much but the only cons is the SPF protection is too low (SPF6) to be used as day cream. I wish it provides higher SPF so I could use it everyday! (Note: I have sensitive normal skin in summer)

I have been blessed with good skin (i.e. I have makeup optional skin) and can't comment on whether this is a gentle cream (since I don't react to most products). However, this seemed more gentler than their regular facial moisurizers (not as heavy, less noticable fragrance, etc.). Overall, this is a very basic cream that does nothing other than hydrate your skin. There are no fancy ingredients and no sunscreen so I just put Shiseido's spf 55 cream on top. This is a nice, gentle cream. A bit overpriced, but most department store brands are! For some reason, my skin really like clarins and I always come back to this! This comes in an airless jar, which is great since I don't have to use my fingers and risk contaminating the cream! Retails for $55 USD.
