I love this flat iron! Got it based on the reviews here and could not be happier. I bought it on ebay for a quite reasonable price, it worked out to about $85 including shipping to Canada. I have gone through my share of flat irons, and this one is definitely the best I've ever tried. Love the blue ceramic plates, love the temperature control, love how fast it transforms my puffy/frizzy hair into shiny silky and healthy looking hair. Also, I have noticed that my hair stays straight for longer. Now, I do my hair the night before and go to sleep. When I wake up in the morning, my hair is still straight, no kinks!! That is truly amazing. Also, it heats up and cools down really fast. Great flat iron, give it a try!!!

yes yes yes. to all that rated this high you are right. both my stylist either use this one or the regular one inch haistick which i really recommend a one inch because you can get closer to the roots. sometime customers think its expensive but i always tell them both my stylist had them for several years and myself included and they keep them on 8 hours at a time and they havent blown. wipe them with alchol to keep them clean. heat protectants build up on them. This flat iron heats up quickly, is pure ceramic, and has a temp control. its 1 1/4 iches and I think its a little longer. I wouldnt go any wider for a flat iron cause you should flat iron with small sections. Oh and never never never have damp hair. even if the flat iron says wet dry people! go ask your stylist :)

Best flatiron EVER! I got mine on ebay this week and am amazed at how sleek it makes my hair. I had been using a Conair flatiron before and the HAI is 100x better. I have tons of frizz and nothing seems to tame it but this flatiron is miraculous. It heats up so quickly and straightens the hair in one shot...with the Conair I always had to go over the sections of hair multiple times to get it straight - then I'd worry about the damage I was doing to my hair! Wish the HAI had been a little cheaper but now that I have it, I can't live without it!

I have tried several different flat irons (including CHI) and this one has to be the best one I've ever used. My hair is thick, coarse and long and this smoothes it out perfectly. Yes, it's a little on the expensive side, but it's a professional product that delivers results. I don't know what I'd do without my HAI flat iron.

This is a great, dependable flat iron -- at a pretty decent price. It gets my hair straight and it stays straight, no matter what the humidity is (even in the awful summers in NYC). And it gets my wavy/curly/thick/coarse/frizzy puffball of hair to a more naturally straight, mostly frizz-free look than the "just stuck your finger in an electric socket" obviously flat-ironed look that the Chi gives. I've had mine for 2 years with absolutely no probs, so the reviewer below did get stuck with a bad one. Even tho I would buy again if it did die, I'm probably gonna go for a GHD 'cause of all the raves I've seen on the hair board. Before this one I had a MaxiGlide, which was completely horrible. It tore clumps of hair off my head, never got my hair all that straight and if the humidity was above 1%, then my hair reverted back to being a wavy/curly/frizzy puffball. I tried the original Chi (without the temp control) and returned it because it left me with bizzarro hair -- straight frizz and flyaways sticking out everywhere -- not a good look!

I bought this flat iron from folica.com about 7 months ago and until about a month ago I had no problems with it. Last month I started to notice the blue paint (i.e. the ceramic coating) started wearing off of the flat iron. I didn't realize it was actually the ceramic coating that was coming off until I mentioned it to my hair stylist and put two and two together on why my hair hasn't been straightening very well lately. I don't know if mine is defective, but I would think from all the rave reviews and the price I paid ($80) for it, the flat iron would last longer than half a year.

I love my Hai flat iron.. It has been the best flat iron that I have ever used. I have tried many. When I first started out using the flat iron (nearly 8 years ago) I started out with a cheap one "Helen of Troy" that I bought at Sally's Beauty Supply. I laugh now when I think that I even owned one. But, I then found the CHI flat iron. It worked. But I soon discovered the T3 which was a $170 flat iron.... I was not impressed with the T3... But, then I met my boyfriend who is a hairstylist. He gave me the HAI Convertable swearing that it is the best on the market....IT REALLY IS..... It heats up so fast and not only that the heat is more consistent with adjustable temp. settings. (170*-390* F) I have one at his place and one at mine. I even bought my mother one for x-mas. I did however venture out and bought the Sedu ionic ceramic tourmaline flat iron. It was cost me about $125 and I was bummed at how it left my hair. I have a lot of hair not to mention curly and I like to rock it in a mod a-line.. So, I need a good flat iron. Thus far the HAI Convertable is the best. I am in cosmetology school as well and I ONLY use the HAI Convertable and the HAI Stick. The HAI Convertable retails at beauty supply stores for $129 but I have bought my last two on Ebay......

I've used a Hai in the past, along with a Chi and a Solia. Very disappointied in this, especially after the rave reviews. Getting a new straightener is always exciting for me, and after the first couple of uses of this one, I knew it was going back. It was on par with the Solia I'd had for two years; it did not straighten like a new iron. I have auburn hair with ugly waves that I've straightened for years. This iron just didn't do the trick - I'd put it on the same level as Conair. I had to go over each section multiple times on the highest level and my hair is not that coarse. I've got the Sedu on order at Folica; we'll see how that goes.

I am not loving this. My hairdresser uses this on me and it's fine. But with me at home. Nope. It doesn't straighten as well as the sedu, chi or Solia so back to Folica it goes.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Its a bajillion times better than my chi. My hair definately feels nicer and not so burnt. This does not catch and rip out hairs that way the chi did. It also makes my hair uber shiny and straight with out making my hair flat and unhealthy feeling. I also must rave for folica.com i got a free styling tool mat and a tote to boot!!!

This was my first flat iron purchase...I have pretty straight hair already, so it doesn't take a lot to flat iron my hair. This did a decent job of straightening my past-waist length hair. And it didn't fry my hair at all. It was pretty easy to use. But I kept thinking about the BaByliss Nano Titanium that my hairstylist used on me, and how that iron made my hair look like silk. I also found out that I got ripped off on the price of the HAI (I bought it at a salon that charged 129 bucks, then found out that Folica.com sells it for 79 bucks!!). So I returned this iron and bought the BaByliss instead...So glad I did! The BaByliss blows this one out of the water...Even so, this is decent, and if you get it through Folica, you'll get a great price.

I'm absolutely amazed I haven't already reviewed my HAI, considering how much I adore it! I originally bought it as a Christmas present for my sister in 2004, but her best friend beat me to it and gave her a CHI. I figured I'd keep the HAI as a present to myself, and I'm so glad I did. I've used the CHI (actually, 2 different models---standard and turbo---my sister's original died this summer and I bought her a replacement) and I prefer mine. The CHI is a very good product, but at least for my hair, the HAI seems to take less time and fewer passes. I have bra-strap length, semi-thick, very wavy hair, and I can get it done in under10 minutes, 15 if I'm going for a 100% sleek, perfect look. Love it!

This flat iron is the best. I used to take 40 min to straighten my thick, curly hair.. and it still never was STRAIGHT.. or shiny.. or long-lasting.

Now? I can flat iron in 15 minutes and it is shiny, straight, and lasts for days.

I LOVE THIS IRON!

I had to give this four lippies because I haven't tried very many other irons. I use this one pretty regularly, and I have a lot of fine wavy hair. Most users say they have thick, wavy hair, so it was hard for me to pick an iron. But this one has not let me down. I learned how to curl my hair with this iron from watching a video on YouTube.com and this is awesome (a tool that can do more than one thing is great). I haven't had any problems with the swivel cord, and it still heats up the same as it did when I first bought it.

Definitely worth trying. You can get a great deal on it a Folica.com (just in case you were wondering).

EDIT** So I just went to Folica.com and purchased the 2.25" ceramic iron and it works just as good. It is better for my hair and easier since it's getting longer. Plus right now you get a free rubber heat mat to protect your counters. WooHoo!

I hate to be the lone dissenter here, but I'm just not that impressed with this. =( My Solano Sapphire is SOOOOOOO much better (it's a "scissor" style, as opposed to a clamp, and I find I much prefer that).

Too bad I got it off eBay and not Folica, otherwise I'd return it.

Absolutely adore this flat iron! In the past I've used the HAI Stik and the Solia 1 1/4" iron. After my Solia bit the dust, I decided to try the raved about HAI Convertible. This iron definitely outperforms the Solia. It gets my thick, wavy, fine hair straighter quicker and at a lower temperature than the other 2 irons. I don't have any issue with tugging or ripping of my hair and I don't notice any breakage issues either due to overuse. I would purchase this iron again in a heartbeat. EDITED 2-29-07: After less than 6 months of use the ceramic started to peel off of this iron. I am in the process of returning it for a replacement, which I am told they will do. Still disapointed that it didn't last longer and that I have to pay to return the darn thing. Purchased the GHD Styler as my replacement and it kicks the HAI's butt.

Hi everyone! I was hoping you could help me out. Because of all the rave reviews I ordered this iron- I got in on Amazon for $50 from a dealer named "Discount Jungle". I received the iron with no packing slip or receipt, which made me a little skeptical. Anyone who still has their iron's box or remembers what it looks like, could you help me? The one I got is blue-ish, with a city skyline with random metallic windows on the left, A circle on top that says "Hai Classic", a picture of the iron on the right and the word "Convertable" in metallic coppery-orange on the bottom right half. Did I get the right iron? The box does not say "solano" or anything on it- did I get ripped off? Please let me know ASAP, thanks so much MUA!

WOW! That is really all I can say. I purchased this after reading all the reviews and now that I have it......I couldn't be more pleased. My old flat iron (that I paid $125.00 for- it's a cricket) didn't do 1/4 of what this does. My hair was straight in about 5 minutes and I have already had 4 compliments on it today (and it's only noon!). I used to spend about 30 minutes to flat iron. Now it SERIOUSLY takes about 5. I purchased mine on amazon.com and paid about 55 bucks. I can't believe that I struggled for so long with a crappy flat iron (and I didn't even know it was crappy until I bought this new wonderful one!). WOW!!! You won't be disappointed.

LOVE IT! I have long wavy thick hair, and this makes it look beautifully straight! In fact my mom just said that my hair doesn't even look real when I use this. It makes it really smooth and not frizzy like my old hot tools. The best flat iron out there. One question though....How the heck do you curl with it?
UPDATE: I learned how to curl with it:) Just go to youtube, they have some pretty good videos that show u how to do it.
