Over the years I have purcahsed numerous MAC lipsticks but tend not to use them after a while as they either dry out my lips or I just go off the colour. I have dark pigmented lips that look two toned! I put this lipstick on and voila! it evens out my lips so they are overall a natural colour. The thing is I bought this some time back and used it now and then, but in the meantime I was purchasing God knows how many other lipsticks and treaments i.e lip lighteners, Dior, Lancome E Lauder. Expensive to cheap, I tried so many all in order to solve my lip problem.

I had an old Maybelline moisture whip mochachinno colour which I really liked, but the lasting power was not good. I went to the MAC store in Westfield shopping centre and this really helpful SA matched this shade to the Maybelline one. If only I had just stuck with that I could have saved so much money, as nothing has matched it. Although this can be drying, (I just add a little gloss), it is also one of the only colours that stays on my lips even after eating. Taupe is one of the few lipsticks (of any brand), which I actually may finish and would definitely re-purchase.

No I couldn't buy Taupe because it was too red and not enough of a neutral brown or taupe. i was heartbroken :( LOL It's a shame though but at least I found a couple of MAC LE lipsticks that will give me more of what I'm looking for! I'm an NC45

I'm a pale girl. I wanted something that would stand out without being too garish. I absolutely love this shade because it's dark enough to be different but great for everyday. Would definitely buy this over and over again.

Don't care too much for this color. It looks way to dark for my pale skin.

Got this on recommendation from fab hairstylist, who said it suirs everyone.

She was right - I'm very very fair, red-brown hair/ green eyes and it's ideal for me on it's own for daytime, with gloss for evening.

This has been a regular color for me for 15 years. When I first bought it, the girl at the counter said it was her "vampire" lipstick because she said it makes you look dead, but in a good way. Haha. Why do I remember these things? Anyway, it's perfect for balancing a bright or dark eye look while still defining the lip. It's very polished looking and next to Viva Glam III is the lippy that gets the most compliments.

I love this lipstick. It is a nice brownish nude color. This lipstick is good for a neutral makeup look and its good if I have bright eyeshadow because it balances out because my lipcolor is not bright but my eyeshadow is bright, But my lips feel dry after wearing this. It is the perfect nude lipstick for my tan skin color.

Mac's "Taupe" is my favorite brown/red tone lipstick of all time. When I first purchased "Velvet Teddy", the color was too nude for me and the brown pigment was weak. Taupe is like an intensified version of Velvet Teddy, a wonderful combination of dark matte brown with the slightest hint of red (mostly brown). The lipstick itself is of great quality but can also be a bit drying (I leave it like this since it looks pretty). Mac's vanilla scent is a plus! Absolutely a marvelous, SEXY color for the fall/winter.

I'm a NC30, and the shade and matte finish are perfect for making my lips look natural, clean, and smooth. It covers up all the minor imperfections of my bare lips. Nobody can tell on first glance that I'm wearing lipstick, which is what I was going for. It does feel a bit dry, but I took the advice of applying lip balm first, and it worked like a charm. This will last me forever, but yes when I run out I would definitely repurchase.

I really find the name of this shade frustrating. It's not 'taupe'. Taupe doesn't have terra cotta in it! Ahhhh!

Anyway! Once I get past the name it's awesome. :)

On my light/medium olive skin it's a medium shade. It's like my natural lip colour but with added warmth so it warms up my whole face.

It's matte and can be drying. Lip balm first and it's perfection.

For reference, I'm an NC45.
Though this is a matte formula, it doesn't feel as dry as matte lipsticks that I have. In fact, it feels kind of waxy.
The color is a nice nudish pick me up kind of color. On my complexion, you can definitely see some orange undertones, but seeing that I have strong yellow undertones, it works out very well. Taupe is my "safe" color. I can wear it to go grocery shopping, or with a deep smoky eye.
I usually line my lips with cork and with a clear gloss it's super nice. I would also recommend wearing it with Revealing lip-gloss, that makes it a super glossy nude!

I'm with my 5th on this lipstick. Really love the red-brown combination. Not to dark nor to light. Perfect on my skintone. Gives a peachy radiance on my NC35. And the matte didn't dry-out my lip. Sometimes when the lippie reaches almost the end of the tube, I dig it using a finger and dab it on my cheek using blush brush..Woala..Got a creamy peachy blush on the go. Definitely my kinda lippie.

This is a terracotta shade of lipstick. I am NW 20 and it is maybe a tiny bit too warm for me. I find cooler or brighter colors enhance my skintone better. However it is nice in a way it is polished and matte and lasts long time compared to those glossy mess lipsticks on the market these days. The Spice lip liner is PERFECT for this. I think Ill give this to my MIL, she is also tired of all those greasy drugstore/department store lipsticks and will be thrilled to try this.

I'm already on my 4th tube of this lipstick! If you like browns or bronze, then you can't go wrong with this color. It doesn't make you look pale, and it's definitely not nude, but it gives the right balace of red and brown together.

I've repurchased several times. Nice warmish nude for those who don't want their nude l/s too pale. No frost, semi-matte finish, lasts very well. I wear it with ivory, light warm corally pinks, and turquoise type colors.

I first purchased Taupe in 2001 and had to repurchase in 2003 because I lost my first tube. I love this lipstick to everyday. It's a nice alternative to nude for me (olive C4). I have pigmented lips and this color reads orange-nude on me- very warm and clean. I will continue to purchase Taupe in the future if I ever run out.

NC42, Asian skin. I love MAC lipsticks but hardly find any that suit my skin colour, for some weird reason im never satisfied. Taupe wont stand out, its a neutral colour, goes on splendidly and staying power is superb frankly! Brownish hinting towards orange on my deeply pigmented lips.

MAC lippies are high pigment so i get to see colour when i wear them!
