Great silvery brown, very smooth, the glitter gets stronger after a few hours. I do not usually like too much glitter in my es, but I combine Topaz with the matte Paris by night for the outer eye area and as eye liner (also LM), and this gives a gorgeous combination. I am a light brunette, dark green eyes, beige to yellow skin tone.

I've had this shade for years. I don't know why I originally bought it. It is much too sparkly for me. But, I finally found a use for it. I apply it only to my bottom lash line over BB Smoke to soften the line. It gives a little drama to my summer neutral eye - LM Buttercream as wash, BB Wheat from upper lash line to above crease and BB Smoke to line up and lower lash line.

This color stood out when I was purchasing a LM concealer today. I tried it on and had to have it - love the velvet sheer taupe with a hint of rose/mauve that feels so silky when you put it on. You can dress it up or down and pair it with a variety of different shades. I am giving it a 4 because I don't like the packaging. But it's striking on and will go well with a variety of different shades. Looks a lot like Mac's Satin Taupe. I would probably buy this instead of Satin Taupe when I run out because I love the texture of this more.

Got this in a palette with Deep Night and Pearl, and let me just say Topaz is awesome. I have about 50 eyeshadows mostly MAC, but this is one of my absolute favorites. It's neutral but very unique and really brings out the light green tones in my brown eyes, I think because it's got some pink and bronze to it. The quality is unbelievable as well. Love LM shadows but they are so expensive ($20 compared to $10 for MAC) and small color line.

Horrible color on me. I am very pale (lighter than a NW15) have light blonde highlighted hair and brown eyes, and this was just a miss for me. This color is sort of a rose, brown, peachy taupe if this makes sense as I see all these colors in Topaz ....... it is more of a warm toned color versus cool but on my eyes, it made me look flat and sick like ........ I had the same reaction when I used MAC's Satin Taupe ...... these colors simply don't work for me.

In my quest for the perfect taupe I bought this and as much as I wanted it to be "the one" ...it just wasn't. I felt the color and texture were just ok, nothing terrible persay...just meh. I think this had a little too much purple undertone for me and my yellow undertones. If you have tried Topaz and felt the same way...try Chanel Safari...it's now my HG taupe es.

When I got it home this didn't seem to be what I had chosen in the store but I like it anyway. In the store it had looked rather darker and distinctly mauve. I was looking for something that sort of colour to complement my green eyes.
When I got it home I found it to be rather lighter, a sort of beige/taupe but there is a distinct hint of mauve, although no way would you actually describe this as mauve. In any event, I have worn it several times and find it to be a really good everyday sort of eyeshadow. It looks natural and not too overdone during the day.
The actual shadow is a solid powder and glides on smoothly. I have applied it at about 6 o'clock in the morning and it certainly stays through till lunchtime. I confess that by about 7 in the evening it really is beginning to fade and probably needs retouching. But not bad nonetheless!
Good solid LM compact with mirror in lid. My only complaint with these is that, if you have several LM products, you can't easily see which is which because the compacts all look the same.

Beautiful shadow, but not for me. I find that this tends to be a bit too dull and grey on my lids. This could be because I typically use lighter colors on my eyes, but I think it's just a bit too grey for my tastes. An LM MUA at Bloomies in Soho put this on my eyes paired with sandstone and stormy grey khol liner. It was a bit rushed and I went for all three; once I got home I realized this wasn't the right look for me, so I think I'll be going back...going to check out gold dust and patina as a combo...for reference I have medium olive toned skin and olive green eyes.

I really can't descibe the colour - it's sorta a mix of pewter, brown, and a hint of purple. Love the colour anyway. I have brown eyes, and sorta use it for a subtle smoky look. Went out with a bunch of girls, and decided to carry on through the night. All the girls used my eyeshadow, and it pretty much suits everybody. Probably best on my blue-green eyed friend. Really made her eyes pop!!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet, as it is my HG and go-to e/s shade. It is a brownish greyish taupey shade with fine gold/pinkish shimmer. It truly is a unique color, and would look great on most skintones. For reference, I am LM rose ivory (silk creme) or warm ivory (oil free). I would recommed applying with the LM eye color brush; the denseness of this brush makes the e/s have a very metallic finish and brings out the colors best.

So unique! In certain light it looks like a shimmery brown. In others, it looks like a greyish taupe. I see bits of gold and pinkish shimmer in this too. Stays on all day. I use this in the crease, on the lid or as a liner.

A gorgeous taupey shade that will go with just about anything. I use this on my lid from lash to crease. The pigment is great, it applies smoothly and evenly with little to no "fall out". I love Laura Mercier eyeshadows in general!

This is such a beautiful eye shadow that brings out my blue eyes. It's sophisticated and professional looking as well. The color is so natural it makes it look like it could be skin's natural shade in shadow. The texture is silky and creamy almost decadent. It's an essential for me and I'll keep buying it as long as they sell it.

This may actually be my favorite eyeshadow ever (it's a close contest between this and Stila Golightly). The color has been well described in many of the other reviews--cool taupe with a hint of rose. Yes, the color is similar to many other taupes out there (especially Mac Satin Taupe), but this one has some undefinable quality that makes me think "wow" every time I wear it and that sets it apart from the rest (and I wear a LOT of taupes). Plus the texture is perfect--so soft and blendable.
I'm NW20, dark brown eyes.

Topaz is a cool taupey colour that has a hue of pinkyness to it though you cant really see it. Its like Mocha Cup from Estee Lauder. Anyway, its a great lid or crease colour with frost, and its a great everyday neutral. LM shadows have an incredible pigment.

I got this as a gift for Christmas. It was one of the must-haves on my Christmas list after reading all the great reviews here. I tried it out for the first time yesterday and whilst it is early days yet, I really like this. The pigment is really good; it's one of the fist shadows I have ever got where the colour actually shows up. I thought it might be a little dark but it looked great. As I say it's early days and I need to try it out with other colours, though it looks great on its own, but I am really pleased with this.

Muted taupe with a touch of lavender (or is it rose? Hard to tell with this color) and a pale gold sheen, neither warm nor cool as a result. Makes for a pretty, understated daytime eye, but nothing particularly "wow!" as I've seen similar colors everywhere (MAC Satin Taupe, Patina, TiGi Taupe, etc.) It's quite versatile, though, and can be worn sheerly as a simple wash, blended into the crease with a lighter color on the lid (I like using Bare Escentuals' "Nude Beach" glimmer) or layered for a more smoky look. Texture and pigmentation are superb and the size of the pan is pretty generous. I'd be interested in checking out more LM eyeshadows.

This is a beautiful complex colour. As you can probably read from the other reviews, this is such a varying shade depending on the person's skintone, paired shadow, and lighting. For me, I use this mostly going out. I'm a MAC NC30, LM Sunny Beige with black hair and eyes. This on me is a beautiful shimmery taupe with a hint of amethyst undertone. Sometimes it can look golden taupe but thats only when the lighting is very bright.
The quality is sublime. Like all other LM shadows, this is butter smooth and glides on. It's so easy to blend and look professional. Its very silky. I can't recommend LM e/s enough! They're not as vast as Shu shadows but the quality does stand to be the same to me.

This came in my holiday book from LM and I really like it. It is a very versatile color-you can use it in the crease, on the lid, or mixed with basically any other color. I wear this to work pretty regularly-it is neutral and has enough sparkle in it to make me look awake. Will repurchase after I run out.
