This cleanser smells divine. A very nice, clean and herbal scent.
It cleanses really well, removes all of my makeup (foundation, concealer, blush etc). When i go over it with a cottonpad soaked in toner afterwards, there's nothing coming off my face. You have to use it correctly though, otherwise it won't work. Clarins advises to use their suction-cleansing method, which feels soothing when applied in the evening, but is kinda time consuming in the morning. But that's okay with me.

The way i use it is: i warm the cleanser in my hands, apply it all over my face and neck, lay hands flat against face and lift them off quickly. Do not massage! i'll do this for like 6-10 times. Then i'll take it off with a damp tissue and follow with a toner.
Afterwards my skin feels clean, but not tight at all. My skin is glowy and best of all, it didn't break me out.

The only downside of this product (besides the high price ofcourse) is the packaging. You can't really control the amount of cleanser coming out, there's always a little bit too much product coming out, even if you barely squeeze.

Overall, great product, little pricey, not sure if i'll repurchase (cause i always want to try new stuff).

Overall this product works and is recommended.

I wasn't a fan of the application though. I was advised to apply this in a patting motion over my face then rinse, which is easy enough but time consuming when you're in a rush or are tired. Also I prefer a product I can use in the shower too.

However, whilst using this as part of an overall Clarins skincare regime (with the Toning Lotion with Camomile) my skin was noticeable improved. Before, my skin had some dry patches and blemishes. After use, my skin was soft and even, and glowing the following morning after use. I use this after already using a make-up remover.

At present I won't buy this again immediately as I prefer a product I can use in the shower too, but if you can offer time for skincare regime then the outcome is worth it. I will try other products and return to this if I cannot find a faster alternative.

I'm always on the lookout for a gentle, effective cleanser and this is gentle but it's not effective. On the plus side, it's smooth and comforting and doesn't irritate my rosacea. However, it doesn't remove makeup and it doesn't rinse clean. I'm not a fan of cleansers that leave a film on my face even after I've rinsed with water.

Love this! I'm on my second bottle. My skin is very dry and therefore I cannot wash it twice a day so I use this with a cotton ball and tone after with matching Clarins toner. I use this in the evening and I wash my face with foaming cleanser in the morning. I love the way it smells and feels. It's very gentle but does enough cleansing for me (I don't wear heavy make up). Will continue to repurchase cause I'm addicted to the silky feel it gives my skin.

Wanted to love this, love the smell and texture. But it is too heavy for my skin. Even the Clarins lady said it was wrong for me. I am breaking out and my cores are clogged. It also does not remove makeup like Avene Sensitive does. Back it goes.

I've been using this on and off for years. Always go back to it when my skin acts up. Smells nice and very gental on my dry sensitive skin. Never breaks me out.

I bought this on sale, because Clarins had their "double the size for regular price" sizes on sale. I liked this cleansing milk- it cleans beautifully and removes all makeup (even waterproof mascara) without drying or stripping my skin. However, for the price and by product comparison alone, the La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Milk is a better product, and so I'll stick with it. I would definitely use this if the LRP was discontinued, though, as the texture of the two cleansing milks is remarkably similar- rich, without being so much so that it causes skin problems to my very acne prone skin.

EDIT: 27th June 2012-I do not use this anymore as I've chosen to go for more natural skincare and actually love the Trilogy cleansing cream.

This review is for the Alpine Herbs Cleansing milk-normal to dry skins-
I've known this product for years and I always come back at some point to it, like you would towards an old trusted value when you need something that works and it's comforting (I go away from it sometimes as I'm very curious about all the products out there available to try!)..... It's very important to use the method Clarins explains on the leaflet otherwise it won't work properly and you will get uncleaned pores and maybe break out... used properly I think it works wonderfully to take off even the very lasting Double Wear foundation I use... the cotton with crealine lotion I use afterwards to finish my cleansing routine almost comes clean, which means nothing's left on the skin after the Alpine Herbs cleansing milk suctions! My skin is supple and never get red or irritated or tight, and believe me, I 've got sensitive skin. Not all Clarins products work well for me, but this one does, and I love the comforting smell of this cleansing milk, it's not as empowering as many of their products (I hate the multi active range for that!) and I actually look fwd to use this milk at night before going to bed, it feels really pampering... I'll update if anything changes, but I doubt it... ask for a sample first (Clarins are very good at giving samples), use the right method, a small amount, and I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do... ;)

This is pricier than I would usually go for, but Clarins has so many cream cleansers and I have wanted to try it for a long time. So as a special treat I got this cleanser. I love everything about it-- texture, subtle scent, ease of use, and most especially results! My skin is perfect when I am using this. The bottle is pretty large and I am hoping that it lasts me a long time. If these results continue, I will definitely be using this for a long time! I follow the method they recommend in the package followed by wiping it off with a damp washcloth. Voila! Clean, happy skin.

I think this would be a great cleanser for people with dry skin, and when they cleanse their face can tend to feel tight and taute. How ever i have oily/combo skin that is sensitive and i found that this cleanser is just too perfumed for my skin which can be prone to breakouts. The richness of this cleanser made me break out. Its a effective product, but does leave a filmy layer to skin so i would recommend using the clarins suction method or double cleansing- using this as a make up remover then using a wash off cleanser to deep cleanse the skin. I just feel this is a little too expensive to use as only a make up remover. I will probably finish this - using it to remove my make up. However i would not purchase again as i believe i could get a cleanser that works as well for 1/4 of the price. I must say though, how luxurious it feels when using. Hope this helps! x

EDIT:-- Started using this again after a break, i have sensitive skin but my skin is reacting well to this, it looks clearer, cleaner and more even toned, am going to repurchase soon along with toner for oily skin.

This is a pretty great everyday cleanser. My skin is so super dry/sensitive that even the most moisturizing cleansers make it feel tight. But this leaves it feeling-not moisturized, exactly, but at least not stripped. It's got a mild, swedish herbal scent to it, it's milky but not thick, and it cleans pretty well, though I'm not sure I would trust its ability to get off tough makeup, but for regular cleansing, it works like a charm.

This is a great cleanser. I have been using the Clarins line for years, but it wasn't until I tried this cleanser that I started feeling like I truly have exceptional, glowing skin. I was skeptical at first because it seems like it would be oily, but after you wash it off, your skin is not oily at all. I love the scent too - when you first put it on, it feels almost spa-like. I use about a dime-size, warm it up in my hand and use the suction method that Clarins suggests. It feels great when you rinse it off and your skin is noticeably softer. It actually has made my pores cleaner and I'm not sure how. Maybe the suction method? But that is enough of a change for me since I have tried lots of things, from Philosophy's retinol cream to fervent exfoliation and Biore porestrips. I live in Southern California so my skin is exposed to a lot of pollution and sun, yet I have no problems with this cream cleanser doing its job. While Cetaphil also worked really well for me (it kept me from breaking out), the Clarins is the cleanser that actually noticeably made a difference on my skin so that it's soft and smooth. It really is my HG!

Wonderful product, leaves my skin feeling clean but not tight. It feels very expensive when you're paying for it, but it seems to last forever! A very small amount (dime) cleans my face and neck very well. Lovely!

I received several samples of this product along as an airline amenity. I have to say, I am very glad I didn't actually spend any of my own hard-earned cash on this stuff. As a cleanser, it is just terrible. It leaves a "filmy" layer on the skin and leaves a LOT of makeup behind in the process - you definitely need to cleanse your face more than once with this product if you actually want to remove your makeup. Now, if you weren't wearing any makeup and want a gentle cleanser for dry skin, it wouldn't be so bad, since you might enjoy the filmy layer it leaves behind. But personally, I like my face to feel clean after cleansing! I do not recommend this at all, especially considering the steep price.

This is a lovely cleanser for people with dry skin. It has a mild herbal smell, and leaves my skin feeling soft and not stripped. It's creamy and removes makeup well. However, it is no better than some other much less expensive cleansers out there. Cetaphil, cold cream, and OCM (oil cleansing method--castor oil mixed with another oil) are all as good or better than this cleanser. The Olay "Hydrate and Cleanse" line is very similar to this cleanser at a much lower price point as well.

It's a nice cleanser, but for the price, I expect something really exceptional, which is why I remove 2 stars.

This is a very gentle, mild, pleasant smelling cleanser that goes a long way with a bit of warm water. It made my dry skin feel softer and more moisturised than it does from a regular cleanser.
