This is a matallic silver shatter. It was neat and a really cool effect on the nails. I liked it best over dark polishs like black and navy. I just opened it after probably not using it for a month and like my white is dried out but worse. I dont think thinner will fix this one. Waste of money. :(

Out of all the shatters I have from OPI, this is the one I always go back to... like a top coat... Its not as agressive as... lets say black.. and I really love the shimmery effect it gives with the peek - a - boo clolor.
I also find its most easiest to work with as well... I would diffinatly buy this again and always recommend to to my friends and family.
Diffinatly a must have staple to any Nail poilsh junkie.
If you are having trouble with application and goopiness, please refer to my Black shatter reveiw as it has the practices I use to apply this product.

I paid 16 € for this, way too much, but I knew that this will be sold out soon in my country. Don't own a black polish, but i use My Private Jet underneath and it looks really cool. I was holidaying in India and local manicurist wanted to buy my Silver Shatter at any price, but I didn't have it with me. I really love how quickly it makes my nails look spectacular. I wish I could find gold or coppery shade as well

To me, this is the most versatile of all the OPI shatters in that it is wearable with nearly any colour probably coz its not as in your face like other colours such as black. I had no problems with application and found it shattered nicely. Personally, I think this would be the best shatter to try if there was someone trying out shatters for the first time.

I like it, but it's a little too metalic for me. It only looks good over dark bold colors. I tried it over a bright pink at first and it looked really muddy. Then I tried it over a sky blue and it looked like a total mess. Over dark red, it look cool, but it's just not my tastes. I will use it again, but I don't see my self reaching for it very often. However, I really want the gold one now!

I'm really surprised that the average rating is only a 3.9! I love this shatter color, I also own the black one but I find the silver one a better match with other nail polishes I own. I def recommend this shatter to everyone, it really looks greatt!!

I have the black one that I'm a big fan of but not so much this one.
This one is very shimmery/frosty and doesn't create such a noticeable effect. It's basically patchy and doesn't show up very well. I used it over a baby blue polish thinking it would be a pretty contrast - I was wrong.
On a couple nails, it shattered well but on the rest, it looks like small blobs/patches of silver shimmer. Like someone else said, it is kinda clumpy so you have to work extra fast.
It also doesn't apply very well. It's very difficult to get an even coat because all it is is frost. And when trying to even out the polish, it's already started drying (even faster than the black) and it's just a mess.

also my bottle was almost impossible to even get open. This was the first time I had ever used it and it seemed glued shut. It was SO hard to open, I had to use a rubber jar opener AND the shatter wrapper came off in the process. Oddly enough, there wasn't any crusted polish on the top of the bottle. And it didn't screw back in smooth, so there's just a defect in the bottle itself.

I'm very let down by this. And I could not recommend this to anyone.
I will continue to use it up since it is expensive and maybe if I experiment with darker colors along with different brands of polish, I'll have more success.

Honestly the formulation of this one is very tricky for me. It clumps up rather quickly so when you apply it on the base color, you better work quickly. Secondly the shatter effect stands out more if you are using a dark color like grays, navy blue, black, etc. I tried it on pastels and neons and it looked gross. Get it cheap if you can but I think I am over the crackle craze.

This polish shatters well, but not as well as the black shatter. I like putting this over non glitter or shimmer polishes that are darker. I like the typical OPI brush.

I could not wait for this product to come out. When i found out my local nail supply store had it before the US release date, i paid an extra $1 to buy it. I wasn't a big fan of the black shatter just because it was too messy looking or metalhead for me. but the silver shatter is PERFECT. i like it best with black polish underneath or dark purple. anything dark and matte underneath the silver shatter is perfect. I gave it a four just because the formula shatters in different patterns depending on the formula of the polish underneath. one time, i put the shatter directly on top of the base color and it shatters the way i like it: almost like perpendicular cracks. but when i put a top coat on top of the base color and then the shatter, the shatter cracks in a really messy way.

I don't love this one as much as I love the black shatter... I paired it over black and it looks amazing. I paired it over a lighter shade and.... yeah, not so much. Still playing around with it...

LOVE!! For reference I have OPI Black and Silver Shatter, and I find that both "shatter" beautifully when used in a thin coat over completely dry polish. I'm loving Silver Shatter over dark colours like navy blue. Without a topcoat, it's just "wow, cool". But with a good topcoat like Seche Vite just pushes it into the HG territory - it sparkles so much it practically radiates a glow! I've worn this over LA Girls Rockstar Deep Sea Mica (deep shimmery blue) and OPI Chick Flick Cherry (a classic red creme) as accent nails and both looked gorgeous. Can't wait to try this over lighter polishes.
PSA: Singapore ladies, I hope you're not paying the full retail price of SGD$23 for OPIs at Metro & BHG. Do a Google search and you'll find them for as low as SGD$9 at various beauty supply stores.

One of my favorite Shatter shades! It looks gorgeous with every single colour I have, no matter what its put on top of. It does clump after a while but I find it gives a different shatter effect once its a few months old and I totally like it. Just be careful with your bottle - make sure its on tight and don't leave it open for any length of time. I still have my black shatter - its well used and still in good condition. This polish lasts 7-10 days with a top coat, brush is nice and applies nicely and is easy to remove. It looks great on both fingers and toes. Totally a easy beautiful self manicure/pedicure technique.

I hope this is permanent - I will definitely repurchase!

I bought this when it first came out. When I opened the bottle it seemed any other normal special polishes. After my first use, the polish got all clumpy and thick. It was to the point where I can't even use the brush. Every time I use it as a top coat, it just ends up clumping and doesn't even dry.

DO NOT AVOID. I repeat, DO NOT AVOID.
there may be soe bad reviews, but hey... i would have given a bad review with my first time using shatter (black). All you need is practice to figure out what amount and how fast you need to paint in order to get the desired effect. some people like thick chunks and some people like skinny lines. Anyway, i love this. it applies on soo smooth! better than black. The shimmer makes it so much nicer too and the silver is a tad sheer so do not use anything too similar like grey as a base. pastels work just fine (which is why the pirates collection came with pastels.) BUT darks and bolds and brights work too!

tips to make the shatter effect work if it is not working for you
1. do not paint over once you painted a spot. do one streak and youre done.
2. ^ this is why you need the right amount the first time. you cannot paint over, or shatter wont work.
3. be messy. you dont need to stress about covering it all. i mean, its going to crack anyway. so just do a streak on the left and a streak on the right of your nail and let nature do the work.
do not put too much or too little polish. put a streak of polish as if you were painting with a regular color.

hope that helps those of you who arent getting the effect they want!

The silver shatter is kind of hard to work with. It cracks better when I apply a very thin coat, but unfortunately, the consistency is making it hard to do so. Need some practice. And also, you have to apply perhaps 2 application of top coat for a nice glossy finish - it looks rather dull when matte. (it dries in matte finish by its own)

Benefit: doesn't matter if you mess up a little bit with the nail, it has cracked effect afterall so neatness is not the point here ^-^

It also dries very quickly so you have to make sure the bottle is closed securely. Since it dries to a hard flaky coat, it's difficult to open the bottle and will leave the place rather messy. I'm not gonna buy this again unless they improve the consistency.

As for the price, all OPI products here is fairly expensive - for just nail polishes ^-^

This is a fun polish if you are ready to change things up. Sure, it's a trendy type of polish, but it's also a fun way to try something trendy without investing a ton of money, like shoes and handbags. It works best with a non-shimmery base color since the Silver Shatter already has its own shimmer. Satin finish polishes work best. I like it best with a bold base color, since the silver tones down the look. The bolder the better actually; light, dark or bright. I wear my polishes with a base coat and top coat, so the color last 4-5 days without chipping (if there is no heavy dish washing).

Such a cool polish, I love the sparkly effect. I'm wearing this over Sephora by OPI (Opening Night) and it's beautiful! Dries faster than normal polishes and lasts forever with or w/o a topcoat. Will definitely repurchase and recommend!

As a reference, this is the only shatter I have tried. After seeing pictures of the different shatters, I knew I wanted to get the silver one. It seems to "go with" the most wide array of colors. It shatters well, and gives a subtle color over lighter, pastel colors(still very pretty)..and looks very nice over really dark colors(currently wearing it over black). It lasts quite awhile too, when applyed with a topcoat. The only problem I see with it, is that it is pretty thick, and seems to get a bit goopy...so I don't see this lasting a very long time. But overall, its a really pretty shatter to get..and if you are looking to change things up, give it a try.

***Edit: I still think this Polish is very pretty, but the bottle completely dried out on me. I have a TON of polish..and have never had this happen with any other polishes. I know I closed the bottle tightly when I was finished, and I keep them in a cool place in my house. So, the polish only lasted me maybe 2-3 months at best(and that's only using it a few times), so I changed my lippies from 4 to 2. Will not re-purchase.

It shatters well, though I would say you need to paint it on a little thicker than the other shatters because it is metallic. I also would say that you need to choose the colour you paint it over (a darker colour) more carefully because it is pale, but at the same time it goes well over more pastel colours, I especially love it over a pale purple.
