I'm sad to write this review, as LRP is one of my favorite skincare brands, and the Toleriane line has been wonderful for my dry, sensitive skin.
With that said, LRP Toleriane Ultra was a disaster for me.
I started using it, thinking it would be great for my dry, sensitive skin. Right away I noticed my skin would flush after putting it on. But I thought it was just from the rubbing. Then my skin would sting and flush after putting it on. Still, I thought I was having a reaction to the water in the hotel (in Mexico City).
Finally, after 1 1/2 weeks, my face was all dry, peeling, red, and broken out in rashes. Thinking the Toleraine Ultra was not moisturizing enough, or soothing enough to combat the hotel water, I finally switched to another moisturizer.
Now after 2 weeks, my skin is back to its normal condition. And it finally dawned on me that Toleriane Ultra was the culprit all along (it was the only thing I changed in my routine and then taken out).
So sad it didn't work for me. But the new moisturizuer I'm using, Lush Celestial, is working wonderfully.

Has alleviated dryness quickly, tone looks way better; huge drawback is I'm seeing cloggage. Apprehensive of the Dimethicone since any silicone-based product always breaks me out; this isn't an exception. Will give it another week to see how it goes.
Price - $34 for 40ml CDN. Pricey for me.
Packaging - lockable pump dispenser is great.
For reference: fair, sensitive, eczemaic skin, combination, dehydrated, Asian.
EDIT: After a week of use, this has broken me out in flying colours. Every pore on my face is clogged. Will not repurchase.

Been using this moisturizer for about 2 weeks now and I'm loving it so far. It's good for my oily t-zone and not greasy at all despite it having oil in it. I have ultra ultra sensitive skin and this is actually soothing my redness and possibly dryness that I was unaware of. Great buy and cool packaging.

I didn't expect this to cause any breakouts, but it did. After dealing with a really bad bout of acne from another moisturizer and finally getting my skin under control again, I decided to look for something made specifically for sensitive skin. I'm really disappointed that this just made the problem worse, and within two days I was dealing with another really terrible bout of cystic acne. It seems squalane is the culprit for a lot of people that have tried this line, and I'm guessing this is the reason I my skin reacted to it too. Aside from that, no matter how little of it I used my skin would be incredibly greasy within an hour.

After having used this moisturiser for nearly half a year I feel it is one of the best options out there for people who have extremely sensitive, reactive, and allergy prone skin like mine (with mild psoriasis and I suspect rosacea thrown in for good measure!!)
Initially I balked at the high price for what is a small vial of cream, but a little goes a long way with this stuff, and the hygienic packaging with a "lockeable" dispenser top is fantastic. My skin remains smooth and clear after using this moisturiser; there's no stinging or resultant rash or blocked pores, and it absorbs quickly, making it a good base for makeup.
The only "drawback" (and it is a minor one and very much dependent on your geographical location) is that during harsh winter months when central heating and cold weather wreak havoc on my skin, I have to alternate using this with something more moisturising (in my case German brand Stiefel's Physiogel cream--another highly recommended product.)
All I can say is that if you're in the market for a moisturiser with a short ingredient list that doesn't include a lot of the nasties most people are avoiding now and is friendly to difficult skin, this is very much worth a try. Staple for me.

AMAZING STUFF. I was on a steroid cream for years ( 2 careless dermatologists, now I have thinned and hyper reactive skin), so I have the most sensitive skin, not even the dermatologists (6 so far trying to fix steroid addiction) could find anything to apply to my face from cleanser to moisturizers. I reacted to everything. I seriously tried it all, from drugstore to $100++ big name brands, even presriptions-all made it worse (Avene for Intolerant Skin was the best but nothing healed it like the Toleriane Ultra), over the now almost 7 months of cessation of topical steroid cream. My skin was bright red, very rough texture, irritated, broke out (never had acne before), blistered in places, flaky and so dry. It burned and itched badly. Even cool water hurt. So I read about this product, tried a spot, no reaction. Day 1-3 applied about 3 times a day, by day 4 (day 4 until now, 14 days of use, apply twice daily) my skin was significantly less red, no bumps/blisters/rash, and smooth skin. In 3 full days of use it fixed every single problem. My current dermatologist is shocked. I have been using it for 2wks and he takes pictures each visit, so in comparing the difference is stunning. My skin is healthy, soft, smooth, supple, and has a healthy (not greasy) glow. This product is my savior.

My. Favorite. Moisturizer. Ever. I have used them all, this one is so gentle, not greasy, fragrance-free, doesn't burn, and makes my skin feel nourished but not shiny! Bought at Walgreens, how convenient!

I absolutely love this moisturizer. It's an incredibly basic product that sells itself by what's NOT in it, instead of by what IS in it. It is nothing fancy, no fancy acids, vitamins or antioxidants. My skin gets incredibly sensitive at times, especially during the winter, and I'm also dealing with roseacea and this moisturizer is a godsend. Applying this to my skin is almost an instant relief. It is very moisturizing and because it doesn't contain anything that irritates my skin, it also seems to relieve the redness I tend to suffer from. Even though I love the idea of moisturizers that are loaded with all kinds of ingredients that benefit my skin, sometimes all those antioxidants and vitamins cause redness and make my skin burn and this moisturizer is exactly what my skin needs at those times. Would repurchase.

Toleriane Ultra is probably the most basic moisturizer I've ever used, but it's also one of the best (for reference, my other favorites include Avene Hydrance Optimale Riche, Avene Rich Compensating Cream, Lush Celestial and L'Occitane Almond Apple Velvet Concentrate). I'm amazed that they managed to come up with such a wonderful product with so few ingredients. I'm not usually picky about the contents of my skincare - fragrance, parabens, silicone - as long as it works for me and I see no adverse reactions, I'm good. And this does work wonderfully. My skin is quite dry, so the first thing I look for in a moisturizer is... well, heavy duty, continuous moisturizing, which sounds kind of obvious, but is in fact not that easy to find. Many creams will just sit on the skin, giving me that heavy, slathered-on feeling, but not get rid of any tightness. Toleriane Ultra sinks in and keeps my skin moisturized for a long while. The best thing about it is that it's a great multitasker - I've used it in the summer (two pumps), in winter (three pumps, mixed in with a few drops of facial oil at night), as well as on my eyelids and under-eye area. The company claims it has soothing properties and in my experience it does - it will calm any mild irritation caused by external factors (sun, wind, cold, etc). I've also used it to soothe mild irritation on my eyelids caused by eye makeup which hadn't agreed with me. My boyfriend also uses it to moisturize after shaving, since it helps with razor burns.
However, this is pretty heavy duty stuff, even though it has the texture of a lotion rather than a cream. It does leave a slightly greasy residue, which my dry skin drinks in within 5 minutes, but it may not sink in that quickly on oilier skin.
The packaging is pure genius. It comes in a pump bottle, which encases a clear plastic bag which in turn holds the actual product (hope that makes sense!). LRP claim it's this method that allows them to leave out the parabens. As you go through the product, you see the plastic bag becoming emptier, which makes it easy to keep track of how much you have left.
This costs about 18 euros in Europe. I consider that a fair price, especially considering many of my expensive, but ill-fated dabbles in luxury skincare (Lancome HydraZen and Chanel Precision, among others). This is simplicity at its best. Great little moisturizer to keep in your cabinet, even if you don't use it daily and enjoy experimenting with your skincare as much as I do.

I have used LRP's Toleriane line for several years now, and this is one of my favorite products they offer. The best use for this I have found is as an eye cream. It really keeps my eye area supple and moisturized without any stinging, irritation, or anything unpleasant. Most eye creams, even the ones geared towards sensitive skin, leave my eye area rough, red and blazing. This is so soothing, plumping and wonderful. I use it a.m. and p.m. Additionally, when I have a particularily irritated or dry spot on my face/neck/chest, this helps it instantly. Both my children have reactive, sensitive skin as well, and when they have an irritation or redness, they both ask for "mommy's magic cream" to help their skin....this is indeed "mommy's magic cream"! It is a rather small amount for the price, but the pump is great, and there appears to be a plastic bladder inside of the tube which allows you to get all the cream out as if deflates. It really lasts a long time, since it is so rich.

The entire Toleriane line is fantastic. Ingredients are basic, nothing smells or stings. My skin developed some redness a few years ago and it tends towards being dry, and I use the Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser (the milky one) and this moisturiser and they make a fantastic combination. My skin is dry enough that it sinks in quicky and doesn't feel greasy at all. I've repurchased several times, although if I could find an organic alternative I would be happy to replace it.

I'm a long time user of the LRP line and I think this product is the best so far. Love the packaging, texture, no scent and beautiful results. I'm going to be sticking with this one for a while. Thanks to LRP for their research and effort to help those with sensitive skin.

This is my first review ever to write on makeupalley simply because i don't use a product long enough to review it. I have very difficult skin sinds the age of 14 (i am 24 now) and tried almost everything available. In only a couple days of use I can notice if a product is right for my skin because it responds immediately. This product is simply amazing, it is very moisturizing yet it is not clogging my pores! I always assumed I needed a gel moisturizer because I have very acne prone, sensitive, dehydrated skin. When I put enything heavy on it, it will clogg emidiatly en leave me with horrible red bumps on my face (and my skin tone is very white, northern Europe like) Also my skin has aged too soon because of al the wrong moisturizers en irritations of them. But when it is not possible to moisturize those areas enough it is not a pretty view. But I think this moisturizer is it for me, it is simple amazing. If you can't stand natural moisturizers like me (natural oils ar deadly for my skin) you must try this! My skin is looking better then it has ever done without zits and just soft eventoned skin. So don't be fooled if you think your acne prone, oily skin can't handle it because it is amazing.

For the second time this year my skin has gone crazy. My skin becomes really dry, itchy and flaky, and I get these weird little red bumps all over my forehead and around my chin.
The first time it happened this summer, and I think it may have been caused by a Clean & Clear scrub. At the time I knew my skin was sensitive, but I had no idea it could get that bad. The itching would even wake me up in the middle of the night! Luckily I had received a few testers from La Roche Posay, one of which was Toleriane Ultra. It lasted me a few days, but it was all I needed, and within those few days my skin was back to normal.
Now, I have no idea what caused (maybe the change of weather), but this time it was worse. I've been piling on different creams and oils, but within minutes my skin is back to being a desert. I picked up a full bottle this afternoon, and I already see the difference.

This moisturizer is great! First of all, it doesn't contain many of those nasty ingredients like parabens and petroleum-derived products! It's quite lightweight and absorbs to skin easily, not leaving any film. My face feels hydrated and smoothed after aplication and throughout the day.
I only use it as a day moisturizer, so i put it under my eyes as well, and i should say, it's the first cream that doesn't dry out this delicate area (mine is really really dry).
I give it 5 lippies, because it's just great basic moisturizer. But if you expect any other effects like making your face glow - buy something else. It's only function - to hydrate with basic set of good and healthy ingredients. Check it out!
I'll repurchase it next spring, i need something nourishing for winter

I have found my "HG" moisturiser!
I have been using this for a month now - mainly just at night as I use the Dermalogica Skin Recovery with SPF30 during the day.
I am usually a bit nervous about using new moisturisers (or new products generally) as my skin is quite reactive and I can usually tell within a week if something is not making my skin happy.
I have combo/acne-prone/reactive skin, with the usual monthly breakouts.
Since I've started using Toleriane Ultra my skin has been calm, clear and the redness around my nose/chin has greatly reduced. Also, I've noticed that when I do get a slight blemish they haven't been as red or as angry as they usually get.
I should note previously I was using Cetaphil Cream Moisturiser or alternatively Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream at night.
I have tried this under make up during the day, I haven't decided whether I like it under make up or not yet. It certainly didn't make my make up look any worse.
I thoroughly recommend this for anyone with sensitive, acne-prone or reactive skin.

I wanted to comment on the Ultra line not because of what's in it but because of what's NOT in it. Performance-wise, it's a very clean and effective moisturizer very similar to the regular Toleraine lotion. La Roche Posay has removed some very important ingredients significant to not only those with sensitive skin but everyone's skin. In addition to removing fragrances, alcohol and lanolin, which can irritate sensitive skin, it no longer has Preservatives and Parabens.
Preservatives: Contact with air and hands introduces bacteria and mold growth in any lotion. To counteract this, cosmetic companies add preservatives to inhibit organic growth. Toleraine Ultra's unique bag-inside-the-bottle prevents air from coming in contact with the lotion, thereby eliminating the need for preservatives. So what you're getting is a purer product.
Parabens: Scientists are finding that parabens introduced to lab animals leads to anomalies in cellular growth. Oncologists will tell you that cellular anomaly is the first step in cancer development. This explains why you are starting to see many companies advertising Paraben and Sulfate-free products.
So for those consumers who are conscious of the ingredient list as well as the efficacy, I think the Ultra line might be worth a try. I hope they continue to add to this line.

This moisturizer has become my HG! After years of trying hundreds of different brands and types of moisturizers I finally found one ticking all the boxes.
For reference: I have extremely sensitive, fragile, dry, pale Rosacean skin. I can't use any "natural" products because plant oils & botanicals irritate my skin and cause Rosacea flare-ups.
Even Clinique skincare products irritate my skin. My skin also doesn't do well with Eucerin and many other so-called "hypo-allergenic" brands and products.
I already learned my skin does best with brands like Avene, RoC, Paula's Choice and La Roche Posay. Of course not all of their products agree with my particular skin but after lots of trial and error I slowly managed to find the right products for my skin type.
However I couldn't find "the one" moisturizer. LRP Toleriane Riche was a nice one, as well as RoC Enydrial Extra-Emollient. But they didn't fit the bill completely. Enter LRP Toleriane Ultra. What's more to want?
-A lightweight yet very moisturizing cream-fluid
-No scent
-Sinks in quickly
-Suitable for use around the eyes
-Doesn't cause breakouts/pimples
-Provides a great base for makeup
-Transparent bottle with pump dispenser; you can see how much is left and it's great for travelling
-Very economical; I only need 2 pumps for face (including eyes) & neck
-Fair price.
Yes, this is it. I already stocked up because I really don't want to be without it;-) I will most certainly buy again. Try it!
*Update* Sadly Toleriane Ultra is making my Rosacea worse all of the sudden. I now use either Toleriane Riche or Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre.

My dermatologist recommended me this product because I have very dry and hyper sensitive skin. I have various allergies and I needed something that will really protect and hydrate my skin. I must say this product works really well for me. My skin doesn't feel dry anymore and I have no rashes due to allergies (sun allergy etc). The packaging is great! You can see how much product there is left in the bottle and the pump makes it easy to get the right amount of product.
