Shroom is a pale champagne shade with a hint of yellow. It's one of the "satin" shades so the finish is slightly shimmery. Good for hightlighting and the brow bone! I prefer Phloof over this one, but it's a good basic shade.

Like the girl below me, I'm late to the party for this eyeshadow as well. The sad thing is, I wish I would've never shown up to that party....
I'm somewhat of a MAC eyeshadow newbie, and about a month ago I bought a 4-pan palette from MAC's site, and this was one of the shades I bought to fill it. I was going to go with Dazzlelight in the beginning, but I chose Shroom over it because of its mass popularity. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with the piles of great reviews on here, and say that I absolutely HATE this shadow. Terrible quality for the price, and I thought I did my research well when selecting this, because I can't afford to just collect MAC at my leisure, and just have unloved products sit in the back of my m/u drawer. Shipping is too much of a hassle when returning something, and my nearest MAC store is about an hour away.
Moving on from my poor girl rant lol. This looks like an everyday basic neutral highlight, not too light to use as a wash on the lid, which was what I essentially bought it for. I wanted it to perform well not only as a highlight, but I was expecting it to be pigmented enough to load up onto my brush without difficulty and use it on my lid, because I tend to go light on the lid. I don't know, maybe I was expecting too much from this? The texture of this is so stiff and dry, that it's almost impossible to load up onto a brush. Goes on my lid in patches no matter what brush I use, isn't smooth at all, and when packed on my eyelid, the shimmer makes my eyelid look crepe-y and scaley. Bad, just... bad. And I NEVER skip on primer, so I don't know why this won't show up on my NW15 skin. Maybe I got a dud, but it doesn't matter. I'm going to review that dud as is. I think this shade is EXTREMELY overrated for what it is, has poor color payoff, and bad texture. It also can pull slightly grey even on my cool toned skin.
The one good thing I will say is that I do somewhat like this as a browbone highlight, because it's subtle, not frosty, glittery, or stark at all. It just glows on the brow bone, in a 'Hey, I'm here, but I'm not trying to be obvious' kind of way. Again, maybe something to do with the sheer pigmentation, but I do like it for that function. Maybe I'm just so used to my buttery soft UD shadows, that I feel like MAC is overall inferior, and not up to par with them?

SHROOM! I love this color! I have resisted buying this shade for literally years. To me it looked SO frosty and who needs to resurrect that 80's faux pas?? But it keeps winning beauty awards as fan favorite and the ladies can't be that wrong. So I bought it and I love it. This is an excellent barely there everyday neutral that add's some glow to the eyes. The satin finish is elegantly pearly, not a sign of frost in sight. I've arrived at the party a bit late but so glad I got there eventually. Cheers!

Shroom, how do I love thee? I've repurchased this little gem 3 times, which says a lot for me. I am pretty pale, NW15, and also have to wear conservative makeup for work. I like to use NYX JEP in Mocha very lightly on the lid then apply Shroom on top. I love the color! Shroom is not chalky or glittery. Since I wear it pretty much everyday, it takes about 2 months to hit pan. I buy the refill pans from the MAC website and it is $11.00 this way. Will most def repurchase!

Good, neutral base colour that works well with my colouring.
Very forgiving, buildable, work-friendly and it lasts well on me with no creasing. As if all that wasn't enough, it's multipurpose (highlighter, eyeshadow) too !
It's quite expensive though, which is why I've marked it down a little, but on the whole, I like it and will buy it again as in the case of eyeshadow, I have found that you tend to get what you pay for.

I actually really like shroom. I wore it as a highlight with bamboo for my crease, mulch for my lid, and purple and black for my outer corners for my junior prom and it turned out pretty well and I'm no jr. make up guru. I also wore this last night for my lid color with sketch on the outer corner to my military ball and I got a lot of compliments. :) Just remember, before you buy a product, test it out! It's free!

It's meh. Not very pigmented, just another light champagne-y gold color with shimmer. It's a very hard e/s too, so you have to really work at getting product on your brush. I only use this as an inner eye highlight nowadays.

I just started my MAC collection and was under the impression that Shroom was a great 'beginner' colour. After receiving it and trying to work with it, however, I couldn't disagree more. I cannot for the life of me even get this product on my brush, it's such awful texture. I've tried wet, I've tried dry, I've tried my finger - this eyeshadow is terrible. I'm very disappointed that I wasted my money ($15!) on this shadow when I could have gotten something else.
**EDIT** I've changed this from one lippie to three. While my pan of Shroom still doesn't live up to the hype, I have found uses for it in my routine, and the more I work with it the more I seem to be able to pick up product. Still, it's taken a lot of effort for such a highly rated product.

Good texture, not too shimmery. I really like it for highlighting.

I bought this because I wanted a more neutral highlighter than my Dazzle Light, Nylon and Ricepaper. This colour of this is a light cold pink. This could work well on neutral or pink-toned skin, but definitely not on my yellow-toned one... It makes my skin look grey... Looked nice on my arm, but not on my eyes. Should mention, though, that my arm is more of an NW15.
.
The texture of the shadow is very nice - it's a satin, and therefore applies very evenly. It gives a nice pearly sheen. Personally, I think this DID show up on my NC15 skin - I had no pigmentation problems.

I love this color, but to actually get it to show I have to use a base. I'm an NW40 and this applies on too sheer for my needs. Not a bad eyeshadow color though.

Love this colour! I know it's quite sad of me but i adore Kim Kardashians makeup so when i found out Kim's makeup artist Mario uses Shroom on her i just had to add it to my palette! Gorgeous for the inner corners, brown bone and also a highlight for the cheek bones and nose! Deffinately recommend <3

I hate Shroom. I hate it for being so close to perfect and yet not. There is a lot about this that I like, but I just can't wear it. It is very glowy and the color really brightens the eye and is very nice but just the teensiest bit too yellow for my liking. Though it is not right for me, I'm sure it is right for someone. I did take a star away from it for a couple things. First, it makes every wrinkle in my eyelid stand out and though I am not as young as I used to be, my eyelid is not really that wrinkly (btw, I LOVE the reviewer who said her mother had "wiser skin"). And second, it can be so powdery..I hit pan on this faster than any other es I've ever had and I didn't even think I was reaching for it that much. For me, this is so close, yet just not right.

I'm surprised I haven't done a review of Shroom before now since it was my first MAC purchase. That's probably a good thing though because my opinion of it has varied somewhat since I first bought it. Overall, I like it. It's a very subtle color that is close to my skin tone (NW20) so it's not a glaring brow highlight and adds just the tiniest bit of shimmer. The color is so neutral that it goes with anything and can be used as an all over wash or as a brow highlight.
The one negative is the texture of the product - it's hard to pickup any powder on the brush and I often resort to using a spoolie to gently loosen the top layer of the shadow before trying to load my brush. I know oils from the brush can transfer to the shadow and cause the top layer to harden but since I clean my brushes daily and this doesn't happen to other shadows I don't think this is the case. Perhaps I have a dud but I've seen other people indicate the same thing about this color.
Regardless of it's one flaw, I've been using it more lately and I feel certain that I will repurchase. For me, it's slightly more elegant looking than a Matte highlight (Blanc Type or Brule) and not over the top with shimmer. Welcome back to my frequently used list Shroom!

I use shroom literally every time I wear makeup to highlight my browbone. It is a very neutral color and works perfectly on my browbone. It is a subtle color, and does not look stark, which is why I love it so much! It is incredibly easy to put on.

Shroom is confusing for me. I want to like it but I just don't find myself reaching for it. It's a nice highlight. Pretty sheer.

This is a great highlighting shadow. I'm quite fair so the color matches my skin very closely, therefore it's not very vivid.
It does add a great shimmer and helps to brighten up my eyes. It's not too noticeable but when it catches the light, you see it shimmer and the light color. It's very flattering.
for darker skin types this would be even better because the color would really pop. For fair skin types like myself, you might end up a little disappointed but you have to take it for what it is.
It's a great addition to my collection and I would repurchase.

A perfect nude base, just enough (peachy) pigment and soft shimmers to even out the lid when used as a wash. Provides ideal contrast to dark coloured lid line. An everyday staple.
