I used to have a lot of flaky, scabby, itchy spots on my scalp and was constantly picking at them without thinking. At least once or twice every day I would pick off a flake about the size of an eraser head. Since starting to use this a week ago, I have completely stopped picking at my head, presumably because my scalp is no longer flaky and itchy. This product is a godsend!

Keep in mind, I haven't tried any of the cheaper dandruff shampoos so I don't know if this is really special. The scent is not great, but it's fine. I love the smell of fresh ginger but this is more of a cooked, sweetened scent. It doesn't lather very easily (and I *hate* to use a lot of shampoo) but I think the extra effort to massage it all through my scalp and hair only adds to the clarifying effect. My hair feels EXTREMELY clean and soft (not oily soft-- CLEAN soft) afterwards. It was so drying that my hair, which usually air dries into heavy waves, actually dried into a fine tangly mess until I realized I needed to carefully untangle it with my fingers first. My thick, heavy hair has never been this fine and soft. I love it!

Update: I've now been using this for more than a year and a half. It works so well that I forgot how bad my hair used to be. I ran out a few weeks ago and started using various shampoos that I found around the house (Nexxus, a Lush bar, Shisheido). Almost immediately a thick layer of grease built up on my scalp, I became a dandruff machine, and the itchy, scaly flakes came back with a vengeance. No thank you!!! I learned my lesson and repurchased this shampoo.

Update 2: I've now been using this for about 2.5 years. Trust me, I have NEVER stuck with a hair product this long. Look, this shampoo isn't for everyone, but if you suspect you have seborrhoeic dermatitis then try it. It contains Piroctone Olamine which is not a common ingredient in American shampoos. I believe this is the cheapest Piroctone Olamine shampoo available.

Unlike others reviewers I didn't find it a miracle product, I still have a itchy scalp and some flakes, it's not a bad shampoo it cleans and it's soft but didn't solve the problems it should, I won't buy it again.

This product has changed my life - no exaggeration. After suffering itchy scalp and / or flakes since I was a teen, I was resigned to the fact that I'd never really find a miracle product. Over the last 15 years I've spent a fortune on every kind of shampoo you can imagine - medicated, natural, SLS free, organic, tea tree, moisturising, I could go on. A few managed to control it but it would always come back. I am no fan of the TBS as in my opinion, beneath the 'Fair Trade Shea Butter', lies the same old rubbish as in any DS brand; mineral oil, SLS etc. I bought this after reading the miraculous reviews on MUA and after the first use, I have no had so much as a tickle on my scalp. On top of this, it leaves my hair fabulously clean and silky (I still use conditioner) and I don't have to wash it so often. As I know all too well, different shampoos work for some and not others so this may not be your HG product but it's certainly mine and if, like me, you've suffered the constant torture of an itchy scalp, I urge you to give it a try as it may just work!

I tried this product out because I have dermatitis on part of my scalp and nothing seemed to help it. At first, I hated the smell of this, it made me want to barf. But after I got used to it, it didn't bother me at all. It has helped my dermatitis a lot. I use it in conjunction with a medicated shampoo from the doctor. What I like is that it doesn't strip my hair of too many natural oils but it cleans really well still. I've been using it in the summer and leaving my hair to air dry and it looks nice when I use this shampoo.

This shampoo gives me soft and fluffy, clean hair. I still need a conditioner though. The shampoo is soothing to the scalp. I don't get dandruff and maybe it's because I rotate this shampoo among my other favs. I find it does help if you have an itchy scalp. The ginger is good for your hair.

I don't mind the smell at all... this product didn't just take care of flakes but also stopped my hair from falling. Since the first wash I could notice the difference, and it left my hair clean, soft and shiny, even without using a conditioner.

I was really suffering with big flakes and after reading reviews here, decided to purchase this shampoo. All I can say is WOW! it worked immediately! Thank goodness. Sure, its not that best shampoo in the world, but if you have flakes and are willing to splash out a bit more than drugstore prices - buy this - its great.

This isn't my favorite shampoo, only because it doesn't seem to leave my hair quite as soft or clean as others out there, but WOAH does it smell amazing. It smells just like candied ginger slices or ginger beer - spicy, sweet, and crisp. Unfortunately, the smell doesn't linger, but it's great while you're in the shower. I'm hoping the honey shampoo will perform better though - this stuff just doesn't clean my scalp and leave my hair soft like I'm used to. Maybe it's just too mild.

Wow, I am shocked. This really got rid of the big flakes I've been having due to dry, overprocessed hair. With the first use, the flakes were gone! Although the price isn't as cheap as drug store brands, it is certainbly worth it - especially if you can get them on a Buy One Get One kind of deal like the previous reviewer and I did. The only thing I don't like about this are the smell and the fact that I don't think it's good for your hair other than at the roots to get rid of the dandruff. I can definitley get over the smell though because this really does the job and I am finally happy!

TBS was having a buy one get one 1/2 on their shampoos so I decided to try out their new ginger shampoo.

Overall, the scent is not too bad- it reminds me of ginger candies. It is moisturizing and makes my hair healthy and shiny.

If you purchase it at the shop, do ask for a pump- it's free

I don't have dandruff but I wanted an efficient and gentle (and clear) shampoo that is easier to get hold of than Aubrey Organics - so I bought this from my local Body Shop. I really like it. It doesn't do anything amazing - it just does a good job and I like the clean, fresh smell. It does what it's supposed to, it cleans my hair and scalp gently. The fact that I'm on my third bottle of it says a lot!! Sometimes, I add a drop of jojoba oil to it for one one wash, or a sprinkling of baking soda, or a drop of essential oil. They all work well. NB: I vary this with other shampoos - currently alternate weeks with this and Tommyguns Pomegranate & Orange Flower Shampoo.

I have bought this product over and over again because my scalp is so sensitive :( My mum has the same problem, and she LOVES this shampoo. We don't have dandruff though, just really really sensitive scalps. Sometimes my scalps even bleeds after washing with a harsh shampoo, it's awful!

It calms and soothes the scalp (and helps it heal in my case). It does dry my hair out if I blow dry it. I do recommend the Olive Glossing Shampoo if you find this one too drying, it's also really good to the scalp, but it doesn't leave a greasy film.

But what I really do love about this shampoo is that there are no silicones in it, so it's a fabulous cleansing shampoo. It really does leave the hair squeaky clean.

I also think it's super cheap, but maybe that's because I'm used to Kerastase lol

I have scalp psoriasis and have to be very careful with anti dandruff shampoos as many of them irritate my scalp even further. This one not only doesn't irritate my scalp but actually does help reduce the dandruff caused by my psoriasis. It also doesn't dry out my hair and leaves it soft and quite shiny. The smell is pleasant (although not amazing) and there is no ridiculously plasticky buildup in my hair even after several uses. Thumbs up!

This is the only shampoo that worked for in getting rid of the flaking dry scalp I had! I had previously tried several different ones including head and shoulders but none of them worked. So will definitely keep on buying this! It's also not drying like some of the other dandruff shampoos.

I really love TBS stuff. I used to hate it. Now I am using all TBS stuff from head-to-toe. Read the reviews here, so since I need some real good shampoo for current hair condition. So I bought this shampoo and Honey conditioner.

The ginger smell really nice. Smell like Ginger tea My fav all time drink), foam up well, less is more. My scalp feels clean and there was 1 pimple on my scalp and it was gone just after 1 shampoo.

Thanks withoutblinking for recommending this shampoo to be used on dogs. My 2 dogs have problems getting the right shampoo for them. It really reduces the itch (Thanks goodness), soothe down the redness and they smell delicious. Feel like biting them. I find this much better than some commercial dog shampoo. Going ga-ga again on TBS stuff

I bought this for my boyfriend because his scalp gets dry and flaky in the winter. He's been using it for about a month and it has worked really well. As long as he uses it every day, there are no flakes to be seen. I tried using it just to see how it was, but it made my (long) hair really flat and limp. It's too bad because I really love the way that it smells. So, that's the only reason it gets a four and not a five.

My dog has terrible allergies and gets really dry skin, so I tried it on her and it has made a huge difference. She's a medium sized chow mix and I only have to use about two quarter sized squirts once a week. The itching is almost entirely gone and her skin and coat look so much better.

I really like this shampoo I bought it because I was tired of using H and S. It worked pretty well no more dandruff I'm not sure if it's because of this shampoo or some other treatment I use with it. Anyway I really like the smell and a little goes a long way I will repurchase but I still want to experiment and see if there are better shampoos out there.

My scalp gets really itchy and flaky, and I've not yet found a shampoo that makes my hair feel really clean. One day I bought this product on a whim. It seems to work, my scalp seemed fine at first. But then I noticed that it really dried out the rest of my long hair. So started using it only on my scalp and use another more moisturizing shampoo for the second wash, (or just using it every other wash and using another shampoo the other times). This made the product last about 6 months, making the price very reasonable. The shampoo has a very thick texture (think honey) which makes it really hard to spread through my hair. That's another reason why I've had to play around with how I use it. I can't stand the smell but learnt to get used to it.
