I bought the shampoo and the conditioner together hoping for some serious volume. I have thin hair, but a lot of it, so it looks like thick hair. This definitely did prevent it from falling flat. I like it much better than the conditioner. The smell is nice (like salon), and it doesn't work half bad. It gives me volume, but not in-your-face kind that I was expecting. However, I would get it again because I like the scent and it doesn't leave my hair feeling parched unlike the conditioner.

This product did add volume to my hair, however, it makes my scalp so dry that I feel like I have to scratch it and add extra moisturizer. I would not buy again because of this.

I used this for a long time, but recently I was at a salon and one of the stylists told me this shampoo is actually bad for your hair (I don't remember exactly what she said). I don't remember it giving me much volume.

I find the shampoo works really well. I have very oily hair so usually have to shampoo every day. The shampoo cleansed it and left it nice. The conditioner needs work though, I think they make it too light because they want volume.
I'd reccomend using this, and a moisturising conditioner to balance out like I do.

What can I say about Matrix. Through out the years I try other products but I always seem to go back to their products. Right now I like the Amplify line as I have very straight hair and it gives it little bit of lift which is much more than I get from other products.

Got this and full size matching conditioner on sale for $10 at Trade Secret. Have been using Aussie Volume and I can say that I really like this better. My hair is highlighted and I have a very oily scalp, but after using this, my scalp has become less oily and my hair feels nice and full. Will continue to use this as I have not come across anything of higher quality!

Probably one of the worst shampoo and conditioners I have ever used.It made my hair so dry.I think maybe its drying because the shampoo is a gel? What ever it is it does not work well with my hair.I have fine hair but it is a little dry so I need something more moisturizing as well but the conditioner didnt help.I would not buy this again. At least it smelled good.

I have thin straight hair so I wanted to test out Amplify after reading some good reviews about it on the web. The smell is decent. After a couple of uses, it not only did not make my hair seem any thicker, but also began to dry out my hair and made it look fried and tangled. It's still in my closet now since I don't want to throw it away (it's the priciest shampoo I've ever bought) but I don't want to use it either. Oh what to do?

My hair is straight and fine, but I've got a good amount of it. When I decided to grow my shorter layers into a longer bob, I wanted to find a shampoo that would give me more body and root lift. That's why I decided to try Amplify.

The first time I used it: wow! My hair had so much body and fullness. So, naturally, I continued using it. Within a couple of weeks my hair became so so so dry, felt like straw, and stripped the color. I've never experienced anything like it.

Right before trying Amplify, my hair was maybe a little on the dry side--though all my life I had oily hair, the kind of oily hair that I'd have to wash at least once a day, the kind of oily hair that thrives on clarifying shampoos several times a week. But because of spending time in the sun this summer, highlighting, and letting the layers grow out instead of snipping off three-quarters of an inch every month, however, it had become drier. In fact, I could sometimes skip a day of shampooing once in a while.

After it dried my hair, I stopped using Amplify and deep-conditioned, which helped some, but my hair is still dry and a bit damaged largely because of the Amplify. I'd use conditioners after shampooing, but they weigh my hair down because my hair is fine, so I rarely use them or if I do, I condition before shampooing. I'm experimenting with hydrating shampoos now to see if I can find a way to fix the problem Amplify seems to have caused.

If your hair is oily/not highlighted, Amplify might be a great shampoo. But if you have dry or highlighted hair, it may be problematic.

Love, love, LOVE it! This is my new HG of shampoo (and conditioner). I have highlighted hair that's generally pretty skinny and anemic-looking. I went to my local beauty-supply store for a recommendation of shampoo (I'd used TIGI's Superstar line, and while I liked it and its 'bigness' at first, it later began to leave my hair really dry), and the BA checked my hair and suggested this. I was a bit skeptical because of the claims she used to sell me on it, but I was pleased to see that Matrix makes a color-treated-hair version of this product. I scooped up the shampoo and conditioner and gingerly took them home, thinking that after aaaaaaall the shampoos and conditioners I've tried, and after all the disappointments I've experienced, this one wouldn't be much different. Man, was I ever wrong. It's like it makes each strand of your hair 300-percent bigger. So far (two months now), it's been moisturizing, hasn't hurt my ends (actually, I saw my stylist for a cut a week ago, and she said my hair's in 'excellent shape, even though it's color-treated'), and leaves my hair soft, full, and easy to style. I haven't tried any of the styling products yet because I have a ton of others that I'm kind of unwilling to part with (a large amount of them being Paul Mitchell goodies), but I am thrilled with this shampoo (and conditioner). The scent lingers after shampooing and conditioning, which I really like, too. I've seen a lot of negative reviews for these products on the boards, but in my experience, well, it's my new HG. :)

Horrible product! The pretty blue bottle and fresh scent suckered me into buying it but once I had used it for about a week my hair was left brittle and dry with an itchy scalp. The conditioner is no good either. I will definitely not buy this or the conditioner again.

I was so disappointed with this product! I am always searching for a great volumizing shampoo/conditioner and a friend of mine who worked at a salon recommended this to me. I put off dropping the $30 on the Amplify products but finally gave in, and what a waste!!! As far as volume and fullness, this product didn't deliver at all! I do have color treated hair (highlights) and this shampoo almost seemed to strip my hair of the color and shine. I took it right back to Ulta and got a refund. I have been using Nexxus Diamtress instead, which actually does what it says and gives me fuller looking hair everytime!

Now i feel i have to admit that i bought both the shampoo and conditioner from e bay and have never used the product before so cannot be sure i got the genuine product.

Both the shampoo and conditioner i received were aqua in colour both packaging and product and were of a nice texture.

However, the first time i used the shampoo i accidentally must have got some in my eyes and boy did i suffer. My eyes stung all night long despite several attempts to rinse them with cold clean water. They were red even the following day and the left eye was slightly swollen too. Probably from trying t get the shampoo out of my eyes.

Well i decide to give it ago again a second time being extra careful just incase i was unfortunate the first time. Although i didnt get it in my eyes and therefore it didnt sting i do think it had a stipping effect on my hair colour. It also made my hair look very dull when usually i get comments about how shiny it is.

Oh yeah and does it even do what it says it does. Difficult to say but i could only notice a marginal improvement and that was only when i put my hair up. It felt thicker but i personally dont think it looked it.

My hair is really thick and wavy. I started flat ironing my hair because I hated how thick it was, but over time it made my hair very flat and frizzy. I had tried this line in the past and don't know why I ever quit. I tried it again to see what it would do for my flat hair. It brought out the natural wave in my hair and made it look amazing!! I think this will be my everyday S&C from now on. The smell is strong and it lingers for a while, which I really like. The price wasn't bad either, I got a liter of shampoo and a liter of conditioner for $30.00 I would buy this over and over again!! I would suggest it even if you have super thick hair like I do. I would like this much better if it came with a pump. Update: After a while I got really tired of this and quit using it. I'm now using Redken Real control and like it much better!

My hair is fine and long, and this shampoo didn't help much in the volume department. It feels thicker, but I didn't get any body and my hair feels a bit drier than normal. For what this is, it's a bit expensive, so I wouldn't repurchase.

I have used this in the past and have recently "rediscovered" it. It does wonders for my chin-length, highlighted bob--even in the winter. Normally in the winter my hair is flat and has tons of static. This shampoo seems to give it some body without the static. I like the clean scent, too--not too flowery or sweet which suits me fine. I stock up when they have liter sales at ULTA.

This stuff really dried my hair out if I used it everyday. I have found other shampoos that work much better, without drying out my hair. I do like the Amplify conditioner though!

I have fine, thin hair with an oily scalp. I really need to wash my hair every 24 hours, or for big events, even before then. But, I highlight my hair every 3 months, and wear it long. This means my ends are not oily, and are kind of damaged.

I have found it really hard to get a shampoo that cleans my hair and leaves it feeling light and fluffy, without turning the ends of my hair into a matted, tangled mess. Some of the "clarifying" shampoos will work on your scalp, band your scalp feels temporarily really clean, but the shampoos are murder on the rest of your colored hair, esp. at the ends, which have been colored many times.

This shampoo is perfect. You get the body without damaging the rest of your hair and losing big tangles in your comb.

I use both the color and non color version, depending on how damaged my hair is. It's the best stuff I've ever used. I also use the conditioner, but only up to my ears, and avoid most of my scalp.

I've tried Terax, Paul mitchell shampoos 1 and 2 and some others, Aveda shampure, Kiehls tea tree for people with oily scalp, Tea tree oil shampoo from Body shop, Rusk for colored hair, numerous Pantene brands, Bath and Body Works--voumizing, from Bigelow line, Infusium, Clairol Herbal Essence, Neutrogena brands-esp for fine, thin hair.

This is my favorite by far. If you are worried about the price, watch for liter sales at local stores. ULTA just had one (July) and I got some for $14 per liter.

I do wish that the caps were a little more different than they are currently, to better distinguish shampoo from conditioner. The shampoo and conditioner bottles look a lot alike, and I still have accidents in the shower where I reverse the bottles. The the subtleness of the difference in blue caps can be hard to see before coffee...

This is HG for people with fine, thin oily hair that is damaged.

I got a sample of this by accident (meant to get the conditioner) but oh well. This is nice, not fabulous given the price, but nice. It has a pretty, tropical flower sort of scent, not overly strong nor sweet. Lathers up very well and leaves my very long, straight, normal/oily, virgin hair clean but not stripped or coated. It doesn't seem to be any more 'amplified' than normal. In fact, it's a tiny bit weighed down, but not flat. There's a bit more texture than usual. Overall, a nice shampoo but I doubt I'd repurchase.
