I lucked out and managed to get each color from Walgreens on clearance and they have a buy-one-get-one 1/2 off sale and they also let me use my coupons. I only ended up spending about $1.50 a piece for the whole line of colors.

Yes, the colors are much darker than the packaging indicates. I never go by the package anyway, but it is significantly darker than ususal.

I don't have any problem applying the stain. I use a rolling motion across my lips that works great for me. When I want to mellow out the darker colors, I just add a small dab of creamy concealer a shade lighter than my skintone and it maintains the 'stained' look without sacrificing the texture.

I don't find it drying. I do exfoliate my lips and use a tiny bit of lip balm before I apply. When I want the color with a little shine, I just add a clear or sparkle gloss on top.

Overall, I can't beat the price I paid. I would buy again with a sale and a coupon. It's not often I can find a drugstore product that I can wear every color sucessfully as a woman of color.

I really like this lipstain. I got it super cheap yesterday in 'feeling rosy'. It's much, much darker than what is advertised, but I was expecting it. It's almost like the ideal red lipstick (on my lips, which are very pigmented).
It smells glorious too. I used it first in the car and my grandma and mother turned around like 'What IS that?" (then they ended up buying it too)
Lasting power is good, not excellent. I'd say it would last about 6-8 hours if you're eating.
Packaging has been good thus far.

ok i tried touch of toffee which was not as warm as i had hoped still faded pinker then i wanted...in the buff? a bit lighter but still pinker then desired...also tried cover girls flirty nude or whatever and was burnt orange, warm but fakey looking on my lt med yellow skin tone..finally in final desperation got the maybelinne BIT OF BROWN ...PERFECT! gave me the right amount of depth and juicy lip color without the PINK! ive found that HE or lowend all these stains go on or eventually fade pink yuk. however i love the light weight and feel i hate heavy chunky gritty feel of lipstick. also most are uber drying verging on stinging.. maybeline is the least stingin and bit of brown least pink without being orange to date
ive tried
lorac drying and toooo pink
benetint.too pink and sheer for my skintone
vincent longo cupids breath ( warm sheer red)
cover girl ( all too pink or orange
revlon once bitten- burns and stings the crap out of ur lips makes them chapped and damaged!
palladio- in nude 2nd favorite, is a lil drying and only a touch pink, not as juicy color as maybeline,m a lil flat in color
nyc nverending nude- stings drys a lil pink doesnt last as long as others and others im sure
try bit of brown its not brown at all! with burts bees lip shimmer gloss in puckerberry its purrfect! PS 4 those who complain about died out tip the trick is to push down the tip on somthing to get the flow going, im guessing they did that to protect the whole tube from drying out inside. obviously the tip wud dry out based on the nature of the product as it is a liquid meant to dry quickly on ur lips :) still worth the money to have the right color 4 me

I love this lipstain. I have in the buff and its great. Its not a nude color at all, but its a nice rosy my lips but better color- just what i was looking for. Stays for about 4 hours and tastes like candy! also very easy to apply. It does dry your lips out but i know all lip stains do. I would recommend!

I have this stain marker in 3 colors. The color on the packaging does not match what is inside so be warned! The true color is much darker than what you think it will be. Depending on the color this stain lasted 2-5 hours (I expected better). The red lasts the longest, the bright pink a little less, and the lightest nude/pink I bought is gone the fastest. The product smells great like raspberries. Its a little drying but I think that is typical for stains. I don't really like this b/c its so much darker than I was expecting. I think I'll stick to glosses and lighter lipsticks.

okay so i bought this lipstain in wink of pink, thinking it was going to be a pretty light pink color , i even saw the color in a magazine ad & thought it was soo pretty .... WRONG! when i put it on my lips , which first of all was super hard to do. i had to like really push on it to actually get it on my lips, it wasnt even at all and only went in certain places and made my lips look super dry and disgusting ! and the color was completely different from what the tube is, its like a bright berry shade which i did not want at all ! but i will give it credit for lasting a while, it didnt come off of my drink or anything and still stayed. but yeah,i definitely will not buy this again, ill probably try cover girl outlast lipstain which ive heard better things about ...
and its not worth $7.49

I know lots of people don't like this product, but I actually don't mind it. You HAVE to test the colors in the store, because they are way more darker than the color on the packaging. The Walmart I went to didn't have testers, so I took that in mind when purchasing these. I got the shades "Wink of Pink" and "Bitten Berry". I think "Wink of Pink" is a step down from "Bitten Berry", it gives you a natural, hot pink lip although not too vibrant. I really like "Bitten Berry" , it gives you a "I just ate a bag of cherries" look to your lips. It isn't really red, but if were a few shades darker it could pass as red. But it's a really deep pink-berry color, and I find both of them to make my green eyes stand out. I usually use "Wink of Pink" during the day and "Bitten Berry" in the evening, but I sometimes switch it up. You do have to store them upside down so the product inside will flow to the applicator. And be sure to apply lipbalm before you use them! They are pretty drying so without applying lipbalm your lips will feel very chapped and the moisture will be sucked right out of them. The applicator isn't the best, you can see the color on the applicator before you apply it but then after you only swipe it on a few times the color is pretty much gone from the applicator. If you are thinking of buying these I would suggest to purchase a darker pink or red shade, as they show up more :) Overall they give a very nice, natural look to your lips that I think is perfect for the summer!

This lipstain is garbage. The color doesn't even apply well and when it does you get some of the fuzz from the applicator along with it. Don't let the packaging fool you the colors look nice on the lid but are a totally different color on the lip.Its a major fail.

So not impressed with this. Was excited to try this stain and disappointed with the results. One, a stain is supposed to last and this sure doesn't. It started coming off almost immediately when I used it. Two, it flakes off, which is gross. Agree with other reviewers that the color on the package is nothing like what the color actually turns out to be. I bought the lightest pink one and ended up with a deep berry stain. Skip!

I bought the color "In the Buff" because I thought it would add a nice *light* pink color to my lips, but instead it came out really dark, almost like a plum color. I have only used it a few times, and it's already starting to dry out. /: And the color didn't really last that long. Sad, sad. Definitely not worth the $8 I spent.

I bought wink of pink. The cap color looked like it was a nice, light, natural-looking pink. I put it on and it looked very red. A nice shade of red but much to dark for me. The color does not last longer than an hour--then it fades to the color I thought I was getting, but within the next hour is completely gone. So within 2 hours the "stain" is completely gone even without eating or drinking and with or without gloss or chapstick over it. I am not happy with this product and will not buy it again.

I love this lipstick. I swipe this a couple of times on my damp lips and blend out with fingers and then apply a balm. Gives a lovely natural flush of color. Lasts for hours if I don't eat. I have Feelin Rosy and Touch of Toffee but my favorite is touch of toffee.

First of all, the color of the actual product is NOTHING like the color on the cap/packaging. Seriously, what the hell. It comes out A LOT darker. I have Touch of Toffee and In the Buff. Touch of toffee is now completely useless to me because it is so dark and I hate the color. I used it literally once. I bought In the Buff because I thought it would look like my natural lip color, a nice nude pink but NO. Turned out to be a deeper reddish color which I have actually come to like but I wouldn't buy again. The staying power is not good and the formula is drying. I'm never buying Maybelline or Cover girl lipstains again because time and time again, the color does not match the packaging and I have no idea how it will turn out on my lips. Goodbye drugstore lipstains.
Update: This dried out after 3 uses. Minus one point. Now rating this a 1

Everything else about it, simply s*cked.

Not a big fan of this. I purchased the color "Touch of Toffee" and to tell you the truth it was just a waste of money. Within an hour of applying it on my lips the color was gone or half there. I also tried applying this with gloss over and no changes. Not to thrilled about this product.

I bought this lipstain in the reddest color, looking at the outside and thinking, hmm well it doesn't look that red. Then i put it on and found it was reeeally red (Misleading packaging!) Now I tried to use it yesterday but it's completely dried out & I've had it less than a month. Plus when I used it the two times, it didn't even stay on very long after eating. I will not be buying this again. Boo.

When I saw this lipstain in Wink in Pink in my Seventeen magazine, I wanted to run to CVS Pharmacy to get it. So I did and when I tried it on, it didn't look like the color I wanted it to show. In the magazine, it was a baby pink. On my lips, was a dark pink-redish color. I was surprisingly shocked because I was expecting a different color. I still loved the look and scent and will purchase it again. But, I will use this in the summer for a better look.

This product worked great for me....once. It was ok going on, the tip I have to admit was quite scratchy, it was a huge departure from the MAC lipstains that I have that just seemed to glide on.

I exfoliate my lips each time before using a lipstain and have never had an issue with it looking weird on my lips because of catching on dead skin...but this did second time around. It looked bad enough to attempt getting it off, which was quite easy since the stain only stayed on for about four hours.

My biggest issue with these, was the fact that they were completely dried out two days after I had initially opened them TWO days. My best friend got two different colors than I did and she had the same issue. To remedy this and try to get some use out of it I put a little water in the cap which kept it to be moistened. But this was absolutely ridiculous. But then you have to worry about getting stain water on you. You should not have to be struggling to use the product two days after opening because it is dried out.

Bad move Maybelline, you have created probably the worst lipstain ever. If I could give this product a zero I would.

I have this in "In the Buff" and "Touch of Toffee." First of all, for those who complain that the color comes out much darker than the cap suggests -- why don't you try sheering it out? Use your ring finger and blend it the same way you would with Benetint. That's what I love so much about these lip stains. Not only do they smell yummy and apply evenly, but they also have an incredibly easy-to-blend texture that is almost creamy in consistency. The staying power isn't crazy but I appreciate that as well. This is the type of stain that, for the most part, will still be there after a meal but will also come off instantly on a makeup wipe or a cotton pad soaked with makeup remover. Unlike other stains that are so pigmented that they can't be removed even if you scrub, this product is water-based and can be removed without much hassle. It's also non-drying and doesn't make my lips feel uncomfortably tight or peel afterward! "In the Buff" is the PERFECT pinky-nude MLBB color for me and I've been wearing this on a daily basis. The pointed felt tip makes it so easy to get a precise line, and after I draw it on I simply pat with a finger or press my lips together so that it absorbs nicely. "Touch of Toffee" is more orange/ brown and slightly darker, but honestly the two end up looking almost identical on my lips. I don't mind though because the end result is very pretty, very natural, and looks just fantastic with an spf-loaded balm or a clear gloss on top. I LOVE this lip stain.
