I love Maybelline mascaras and I am often time impressed with their formulas and their mascara wands. I am a BIG FAN of the Volum' Express Colossal mascara (yellow tube) and decided to give this one a go when I finished that tube.
This has a curved/flexible wand which makes application to the lashes easier and distributes the product evenly to coat each lash.
The formula is very wet and very black which I am okay with. It was easy to build up drama on my thin lashes and it really defined my eyes.
It dries pretty crusty however, I did not experience any smudging or flaking. Removal is quite simple with warm water and mild cleanser.
I like this for volumizing and thickening my lashes, however it is not enough to lengthen my lashes therefore, I prefer the Colossal!

This is a pretty good mascara, but it is a rather high-maintenance one, too. My lashes did end up looking thicker, longer and a bit more curled than my normally straight, Asian lashes look. But, I'm not sure the time and effort involved with getting that effect is worth it. The first time I tried this, I applied it right out of the package, kinda just slapped it on, not even sure which part of the brush I was using. I kept wondering why everyone kept mentioning a "spoon shape" and using the "flat part of the brush" vs. the "edge of the brush." It looked awful. Clumpy lashes, mascara on my lids, ick. Then, I remembered reading on a blog that the formula improves as it dries out, so I put it away for a couple of weeks, went on YouTube to unearth the mysteries of the brush's shape, and then tried again. Okay. So, the whole waiting thing is the first part of the high-maintenance comment. Here's some more evidence: 1) You have to offload a ton of mascara first, either by scraping it off on the edge of the tube, or wiping it off on a tissue first. 2) You do get better results by using the flat part of the brush (think the part that would correspond to the back of a spoon), but if your vision is like mine and you only wear glasses (which of course you can't be wearing while applying eye makeup), it may take a bit longer to find that shape and hold it towards your lashes accordingly. 3) I needed a lot of time for lash combing afterwards to get rid of residual clumping. This is not ideal in the mornings when you're in a rush since metal lash combs and speed are not compatible for me. In terms of holding a curl (so very important for us straight-lashed people), it was fair. Yes, it wilted it, but not all the way. I'd say my lashes were held out perpendicular to my face. The smudge factor wasn't bad. Not great, but not bad. It did start to smudge halfway through my day, but not in an overtly obvious way. Unfortunately, it tended to leave those little balls of mascara at the ends of my lashes. Using a lash comb usually helped with this, but again, it took slow and careful movements. Now, I have other mascaras that give me the same effect, but for cheaper and/or with less effort involved, so I wouldn't repurchase. Note: I try to avoid eye makeup with parabens as I'm 98% sure they're the ingredient that make my eyes burn. Thankfully, the washable version of The Falsies does *NOT* contain parabens, though the waterproof one and the Black Drama shade do (both the regular and waterproof). HTHS.

I LOVE THIS MASCARA! I'm my second tube of it, and I have no complaints! It makes my lashes look super full, and long! Plus it doesn't clump up!

UPDATE: Now that came hot and humid days (finally) to Paris, this mascara after 4-5 hours leaves gray smudges under my eyes. It still makes my lashes look gorgeous so I guess I will come back to it when its gonna get colder...
I am really, really surprised by this mascara. I tried chanel, ysl, dior, givenchy, lancome mascaras and never ever bought cheaper mascara. Until I got tired of clumps, drag queen like lenght without any volume or dry mascara dots under my eyes.
I grabbed it in supermarket and I didnt expect it to better. It gives me volume, doesnt clump, doesnt lenghten too much (thats something I DONT want) and doesnt crumble after some hours. I like the brush too, doesnt smear it on my eyelid. Awesooome. I read reviews saying that you can feel it on your lashes but I dont feel it.
Packaging is a little tacky and theres no luxe factor but Im using it everyday and looving it :)

Despite the lack of good reviews, I actually really like this product. I've tried a whole bunch of other mascaras including L'Oreal's Voluminous and Telescopic, NYX's Doll Eye and Benefit's They're Real... out of all of them, this is my favourite one. It gives you the right amount of volume, so long as you know how to properly do it. It also lengthens and it keeps the curl for a long time. It also doesn't irritate my eye like the Telescopic does, which is such a neausance.

Nice and waterproof but still smudged on the outer corners. I smile a lot so my eyelashes touch there and smudge. I don't like the finish. It's too shiny for me. Otherwise it doesn't clump too much, it is a very dark black for having bought the darkest color, it's one of the more volumizing mascaras, and it doesn't relax my curl considering I bought the waterproof version.

I've had good luck with Maybelline mascaras in general, before this, I was using the Colossal on a daily basis. The Falsies works far better because it clumps much much less and there's less of a glop of product on the end of the brush (still there, but less bothersome than the huge one from the Colossal). I love how it makes my lashes look "whispy" and very well-defined--again, very little clumping! This does smudge by the mid-afternoon, but I have a very oily eye area and this happens to nearly all mascaras that I try (Benefit's They're Real being the only exception). Washes off very easily. Great everyday mascara for me--cheap, looks good, and little smudging.

I have a love hate relationship with this mascara. When I first put it on I was pretty amazed by the volume and length it gave my lashes but now I think it is so so. The wand dispenses way too much product and I end up with a clumpy mess most of the time. I tend to reach for my other mascara a nowadays.

Love this mascara! I mean I have short and minimal hair on my lashes (Asian's eye, that's why) but I could swipe Falsies on my pathetic hairless lashes to full looking lashes! Usually when you building up mascara, it ought to become clumpy but it doesn't happen to me with Falsies. You can see why I love them now, can't you?

This was the first mascara I ever wore! It made my lashes more fuller, and added more length to them, so that was great :) Even more darker, but the issue I had with it was it had clumps. Ugh! Small clumps, but if you looked close, you could notice them. Prehaps I was using it wrong, but I doubt I was. So I probably won't buy it again.

The first time I used this, I thought it was great: my lashes looked fuller, the colour was dark enough that it stood out from behind my glasses, etc. After a week or two, however, I noticed that my eyes started to get irritated after a few hours of wearing this stuff. I realized it was also too clumpy, left my lashes hard, and was difficult to remove, resulting in quite a few eyelashes being pulled out even when I wiped my eyes as gently as possible. I gave it 2 stars because it did make my lashes appear thicker, but the clumping and stiffness were just not worth the extra volume that it gave me. There are way better mascaras out there for the same price.

This is my HG mascara. This is the best mascara I have ever used. The packaging is pretty and the applicator easy to use. My eyelashes are short, but 2 coats of this mascara works wonders on my eyes. I have used this mascara for about 2 years and will never use anything else.

I've had the falsies two times. One that was waterproof and one that wasn't. I was disappointed by the non-waterproof one because of the flakes it gave me when i applied it. I do want to test this product out again once I am done with the non-waterproof and i will definitely try to test out the waterproof black one to finalize my opinion

This is an absolute HG mascara! I have about five on the go but I always reach for this. I've tried the other volume express mascaras but they're nowhere near as good.
This is a reasonably dry formula and you know it's reaching the end of its life when you get tiny clumps in it but when it's fresh it's beautiful. It separates and omg does it lengthen! I've been asked several times whether or not I'm wearing falsies. In fact, when I got lash extensions, I could barely tell the difference between them and this mascara. It's not too bad on volume either (not fabulous but not bad)
The non-waterproof one lasts all day without a single smudge (as the mascara reaches the end of its life it does flake a little) and its easy to take off (is swipe it gently with Almay makeup remover pads).
At AU$20 it's a little pricey but on par with all the other drugstore mascaras here and Maybelline us always discounted somewhere. Nevertheless I'd happily pay high end prices for this. I have and will continue to repurchase

I really like Loreal Voluminous Waterproof in Carbon Black best for a d/s mascara. That said, I've had an awfully difficult time removing it, even with a good makeup remover such as Neut. Oil-Free. I feel that over time, the LV-W has cause lash loss.
So, trying this, I picked it up in the formula which is *not* waterproof, so as to avoid previous issue. It lengthens decently, but volume is just so-so. It did straighten out my lashes, so had to curl them just a bit after the mascara dried. That way, they seem to hold a lift on my hard-to-curl lashes which are naturally stick-straight.
Will report back on wearability, flaking and removal later.

I think this is one of my favorite mascaras ever. It makes lashes look intense quickly. Definitely a "are those lashes real?" look. So very cool and it does not smudge or flake all day, at least on me, even after a nap my lashes were still mad extreme! It washes off beautifully with no tugging or problems too. It makes the lashes you have look their very best. Love this mascara a whole lot! Absolutely recommend.

I really love this mascara. I've had it for at least 2 months now and it's still going strong (as do all of my maybelline mascaras). I bought the black drama edition but there's not much difference from the original; it gives great volume and definition to your lashes and I love the curved wand shape too. The only problem is that it can be quite messy to apply and tends to clump. I don't really have a problem with this as I can just use a cotton bud to clean up, but I can tell that it would annoy some people. But still, it's a great mascara if you want serious volume.
