I wanted to try an all natural mascara because I have sensitive eyes. However, I also have very fine thin eyelashes. This mascara didn't do much. It was hard to tell I was even wearing mascara. It also takes a while to dry so I had to go back with a q-tip and clean up my upper and lower lid after application. It doesn't flake or smudge, but really not worth the high price. Too bad.

I wanted to try a natural mascara as I have quite sensitive eyes and some mascaras make my eyes sore, however this does not disappoint. It gives clean non-clogged lashes for a natural look. If you are looking for a volumising mascara this is not for you, but it will make them look longer.
The mascara itself is a little runny and does take a few minutes to dry but it never clumps or flakes. It is quite expensive at £18 a tube but worth every penny!

I'm on my second tube already and absolutely loving it. Gives full, lush, long lashes and is buildable at any stage. I have found however that my second tube is drying somewhat faster than my first .. might have been a bad batch but this is not enough to put me off repurchasing a third time. Drawbacks? the price .. a bit hefty but then you pay for quality natural ingredients and save yourself on the nasty chemicals found in regular mascaras. Lovely smell of roses too.

HG! This mascara creates volume, length and lushness for me. It doesn't cause my eyelashes to fall out, removes easily. doesn't flake or run and is a nice rich color without being too harsh. I apply it and keep my eyes open wide(yet I still blink I just try not to let the lashes touch under my eyes) while its drying which for me takes about five minutes. This is the first mascara that doesn't turn gunky in the tube and on my lashes. I love it!

I like this product for exactly the reason, other don't. I don't want thicker or longer lashes, just some more color! It works fine for me, doesn't clump and stays put.
It is very expensive though!

the positive: it has a true black color and it's organic
the negative: it takes forever to dry. It almost doesn't give any volume, it smudges and fades so fast..
and when i'm bicycling to school and it rains just a little bit it melts away completely.

I finally got round to doing this review! This is my go mascara for the following reasons.
-i love dr. hauschka--lol
-doesnt irritate my eyes at all
-extremely natural looking
-clump free!
-flake free!
-just a good basic mascara.
its not particularly thickening, or lengthening its a mixture of both a classic NORMAL mascara, which is hard to find these days. The brush is a bit long, and kinda thin. It's not to thick which is great in any parts of the brush, it thins out towards the tip which makes it easier to apply to the lashes closests to the inner corner of my eye. it's easy to remove as well, no fuss. I like using this when i'm in a hurry (no messy clean up!), or if im going for a natural look. It gives a clean, well groomed eye :) that's also flirtatious! I know that i've had this for OVER a year, i dont use this that often, but often enough to tell you what I think about it. It has a watery kind of feel to it not waxy, and it doesnt weigh my lashes down.
It's a pretty good mascara, I definitely recommend this to everyone, because it doesn't irritate eyes.
For reference, I had relativley long lashes, but they're thin :(

Natural is definitely NOT always better or safer. I had to throw this mascara away after two days because it irritated my eyes so much! It's very flaky and crackly and smudged around my eyes almost immediately, sort of dusty like an eye shadow. It has no staying power. What a shame -- it was expensive :(

I started out loving this mascara. My friend had purchased it for me as a gift when I was trying to stick with more natural cosmetics. The scent was strong but did not bother me, and I liked the packaging and brush. The formula was very thin and it didn't do too much for volumizing or curling, but I felt that it did make some difference in making my eyelashes stand out a little more. I have thick, pin straight long eyelashes that don't really hold a curl despite whatever mascara I am using so I didn't knock off points for that. My friend also purchased this for herself, and since she is very blonde it made her eyelashes look amazing, so I feel like this is better suited for people with lighter eyelashes. However, the biggest downfall of this product is that I think that it irritated the skin around my eyes. While using this product, I developed eczema type patches on my eyelids that absolutely drove me crazy. It didn't occur to me that this "natural" mascara could be the culprit. After the product ran out in about four or five months (lasted a long time, even though I know you should toss mascara after three months or less) the eczema patches cleared right up!! I went back to using more commercial drug store mascaras that were not at all natural and haven't had the problem since. I guess this just shows me that natural products aren't always better, but I may be just weird as I haven't heard any other complaints like mine about the product. It might work for you, just try at your own risk!

I like this mascara but I have to confess I like Gabriel's better. I agree with most of the reviewers here: this mascara is thin! There is absolutely no thickening whatsoever - even with multiple coats applied. (It just made my lashes stiff, not thicker.) There is some lengthening but not enough to comment on. Having said that, this is a nice, natural everyday mascara. The smell is amazing - like roses! - and the thin consistency does make application easier than any other mascara I've ever used. The same thin consistency also means no clumping! I've never used a mascara quite like this. One reviewer said it was like a lash tint and I would generally agree except this was even easier to apply and had a wonderful scent to boot!

I bought this because I’m worried about the long term effects of synthetic preservatives and whatever else they put in make-up.
Unfortunately, this mascara did absolutely nothing for me, it was a complete waste of money. I agree with the reviewer who wrote that it shouldn't be allowed to be called a mascara, but rather a lash tint.

If you want to darken and minutely lengthen your lashes without looking like you're wearing mascara, this is the product for you. As others have said, it's impossible to get this mascara to clump. It does run slightly by the end of the day (nothing major) and it smears if you rub your eyes. But the only reason I have rubbed my eyes while wearing this is because it feels weightless on, so I forgot I was wearing mascara. I love how easy this is to rinse off. I wear it when I'm wearing little to no other makeup and being very casual. This is the subtlest mascara I have ever tried. It's nothing I wear every day, but I like it for what it is - an incredibly natural-looking mascara with fewer iffy ingredients than most mascaras, and I appreciate that it hasn't been tested on animals.

I'm giving this a 4 and I won't repurchase, though I realize that it will work well for some others. For me, it was just 'eh.' The formula is lovely to work with - absolutely no clumps, very dark black, never too dry - but the look was way too natural for me. My lashes looked too skinny to pay ~$24 for a mascara. I adore the natural angle and very much appreciate the lack of chemicals. Following the advice of another reviewer below, I tried Dr. H's volume mascara, and love it oodles and oodles. It's one of my HGs now. If this formula doesn't work for you, definitely try the volume mascara.

I think there is not much use in reviewing a mascara, because everybody's lashes are different and mascaras do a very different effect on different lashes, yet I have to say I'm very enthusiastic about this one: it won't bring any dramatic changes to your gaze, because it's not volumising, but sure it gives a good and natural definition to your eyes without ever clumping or smudging (just be careful not to rub your eyes the first ten minutes). Plus, it's supposed to have all natural ingredients in it, which means it shouldn't irritate your eyes.

Of all the mascaras I've tried, I like this one the best, especially for day-time. I absolutely HATE mascaras that clump your lashes together, so I tend to like lighter mascaras better. Anyhow, it smells great and is very subtle, I doubt people will notice you are wearing mascara (a good thing!) because it just makes lashes black (or whatever color you buy it in) and a tiny bit fuller. It just enhances what you've got.The only problem with it is it takes a while to dry, so be careful when putting it on.

Non-clumping, flexible formula, but thats because it is very thin. Still, I love it. Slightly lengthening. Very subtle in Brown. If you really hate clumping mascara this is for you. Also it is easy to take off with a bit of water or lotion. Definitely not waterproof.

I LOVE this mascara. I've tried a few other brands (cheap drugstore, Maybelline, Dior), but this one is really my favourite.
I use it in black, and it gives really good, full, long lashes. The major plus for me is that it doesn't feel like you're made up, it's a very comfortable mascara. It's not heavy or clogging. It smells good too, and rinses off very easily (I'm not into waterproof, so I guess you have to consider that too).
Will definately re-purchase very soon!

great for people whose eyes get really irritated when using mascara. I am one of them! this is one of those products that feels all-natural and is perfect for my already thick lashes. major downside: it smudges! make sure to check often in a compact mirror.

I love this mascara, and would hands-down recommend this to anyone in search/need of a high-quality daytime mascara. I use the product in Navy, and it adds dimension without heaviness to my dark brown eyes. It comes off easily and doesn't cause lashes to break or become brittle. Nice rosewater scent, too. Can't say anything bad about it!!

I've been using Dr. Hauschka's old formula mascara for the past year and didn't think it could be topped. Just started trying out their new volumizing formula in aubergine and absolutely love it! One coat and my lashes are long, thick and black with very subtle hints of purple. No clumpiness whatsoever, which is what I've come to expect from this line.
For those of you who are used to their old [non volumizing] formula, don't expect the lovely rose petal scent in this new forumula. It smells just like most mascaras do, that slight chemical scent? The consistency isn't quite as liguid as the old formula either, so I'm not sure if this tube will last as long as the older formulation will either. My last tube of black Dr. Hauschka mascara lasted me for nearly a year! Yes, I know you're supposed to throw the mascara away after 6 months but I reasoned that if it hasn't dried out and if it still smells good it's still good to use! :)
I'll update this after the tube has been used to let you konw if the new formula is as long lasting in the tube as the old.
So far, I'll definitely repurchase the new formula in aubergine. I also bought a tube of the green/gold and didn't like it as much, if only because I didn't see the "green" on my dark lashes. It's possible someone with ligher lashes will see the benefits from this.
