This is definitely a HG product for me. I use this moisturizer immediately after getting out of the shower and under my foundation. It makes my foundation go on smoother than any moisturizer I ever tried. For a moisturizer it really does act like primer so you can skip a step by using this. I also use this at night as a nightly moisturizer. It keeps my face hydrated and oh so soft when I wake up in the morning. I think this a perfect moisturizer you can use all year long. Its hydrating for winter and light for during the hot summer. As for the packaging I think its really hygienic due to the unique pump. Just one pump and its enough for your entire face. The price is little steep, but this is definitely worth it for all the benefit you get when you use this moisturizer.

I was overtaken by a huge skincare emergency about 4 weeks ago (I know I'm being overly dramatic here, but trust me, it was bad at the time!). Overnight, I developed 6 to 8 really bad breakouts on my cheeks due to a combination of factors (hormones, falling asleep with a heavy foundation on, etc). I sent my husband out on an emergency Sephora run to get Kate Somerville's EradiKate - which is nothing short of a miracle in a bottle. Long story short, my face has finally cleared up, but it's definitely dry and flaky with the weather turning cooler. I bought this moisturizer yesterday and have used it twice already, and literally, I had to wash it all off just now! Minutes after applying it both yesterday and today on my face and neck, I developed hives and a burning/itching feeling. I thought yesterday was just a bad skin day coincidence, but minutes after putting it on this morning, the same thing happened! While my facial skin is somewhat sensitive, my neck skin is not sensitive at all. The irony is that while Kate's EradiKate saved my skin, this moisturizer ravaged it. This is going straight back to the store, and the quest for my HG non-comedogenic, light moisturizer continues :(
Edit: This has given me by far the worst allergic reaction I've ever had to any product (and trust me, I've used hundreds in my life!). 24 hours after having used it yesterday, my hives have turned into hundreds of little boils all over my face and neck that are insanely itchy and painful. Thank god my brother-in-law is a dermatologist - I'm getting a topical steriod and oral medication prescribed ASAP! Be warned if you consider buying this :(

I am on my fifth jar of this moisturizer and I did not realize I had not left a review yet. This is my HG moisturizer. I have combination skin, but my t-zone is super oily and my cheeks extremely dry (with eczema). My skin is also very sensitive and products tend to break me out or give me blotchiness/rashes. This moisturizer goes on incredibly smooth and moisturizes really well without being too greasy. This does not irritate the eye area either. I love how it sinks in -- really quickly without stickiness. The packaging is extremely sanitary, but could be more travel friendly. This product does not break out my skin like so many other moisturizers have. This is pretty pricey ($65 for 1.7 oz) -- definitely not the most expensive I have used, but certainly not cheap. I can't find anything comparable that is cheaper so I keep purchasing. I can't really comment on the anti-aging properties. I haven't noticed any difference in my skin, but perhaps it is preventive in nature.

Been using this for about a week and my skin has never been so greasy. Funny it's an oil-free moisturizer making me oily. I have combo skin and usually with other creams they sink right in leaving my skin matte and fresh. After applying this moisturizer my face is super shiny and oily; it's as if i never washed my face in the first place. On top of that this has caused small bumps in odd places. A high price to pay for a moisturizer that doesn't improve your skin in any visible way.
Usually i have very little acne.. maybe 1 or 2 over the span of months and right now my face is covered in bumps and blackheads ugh!. Will be returning this product immediately and purchasing my old moisturizer.
on a side note my skin texture is a lot smoother and amazingly soft but that's thanks to the ddf 10% glycolic toner i also just purchased.

Oil-free moisturizers never seem to be just right. Some feel too greasy (Murad) while others feel too light (Boscia). Kate Somerville's is just right. It is lightweight but definitely hydrates and dries to a smooth, almost powdery feel. At $65 it isn't outrageously priced, however, the packaging can be a little annoying.

I'm always looking for a great nighttime moisturizer. I have oily, sensitive skin and am very vulnerable to clogged pores and break-outs if I use the wrong products. So oil - free EVERYTHING is an absolute must. I've always heard great things about the Kate Somerville line and this is the first product I've tried from it. The packaging was interesting. It appears to be a typical jar, but remove the lid and there's actually a push top. You push it down once or twice, and just the right amount of moisturizer comes out. This deserves an A++ in my book. I have grown to loathe dipping my fingers in skincare jars. It's just not sanitary! Anyway, it feels very nice on the skin. It absorbs very well and I'm not left feeling greasy. I'm not familiar with algae extract in skincare, so I'm not totally informed on the benefits of it. Hasn't broken me out so I can't complain. This is a good moisturizer that I'm just not particualrly blown away by. It doesn't deserve HG status in my book. The hydration benefits are suffice. It's fragrance free and non-irritating, but I can find other oil-free moisturizers on the market for a quarter of the price of this ($65 for 1.7 oz.) that would provide the same results.

This moisturizer is working great for me, so far. I've been using it, day and night, for about a month now and my skin feels hydrated, calmed and I haven't had any breakouts. Also, I have noticed that my face isn't oily when I wake up in the morning anymore and my face rarely gets oily during the day now. It is winter here so the daily oil issues could change when summer hits.

Love this lotion. I have combo skin, and live in the Chicago (windy, cold, dry city)...the winter is brutal for my skin....makes it dry n' dull, and a little problematic.
My skin doesn't like heavy moisturizers at all. Usually break me out, or leave a funky/thick film. HATED neutrogena, Aveda, eucerin etc.
This lotion is the first one that I have NOTHING BAD TO SAY about! Thick enough to moisturize, but thin enough so my skin drinks it right up. It has algae extract, which could explain the supple look my skin gets with it.
Should be thought of as the Little Black Dress of moisturizers..yes there's plenty of them, but this one fits JUST RIGHT!! Simple, and always a safe choice!

This product is wonderful. Started using the entire line over 2 months ago and my skin looks better than it ever has. The packaging used for the moisturizer is genius. Really keeps your skin smooth and DOESN'T dry it out!!

Love this product. I am over 60, yet still have a lot of oil in the T zone. I love this lightweight moisturizer. I think it is a good substitute for primer. Leaves my face smooth and comfortable. I use it day and night. Great under makeup. I am on my sixth container. Price is high, but if it works I am willing to pay the price. The container is great. Every last bit is gone when the jar is empty. No wasted product.

I just started using all KS products and my skin lookes better than it has since I was a preteen. This is a basic lightweight moisturizer. It isn't overly exciting, it doesn't do anything dramatic, but it keeps my skin hydrated and doesn't clog my pores.

I received three samples of this, along with exfolikate (normal version even though i specifically asked for the gentle one because it doesnt have soybean a pore clogging ingredient! which by the way if you have tried the gentle version please send me a message with your thoughts about it because there are no reviews on it here) and I was so upset when I got home and read the ingredients. ALGAE EXTRACT. A huge pore clogger in my book. So watch out. I have very congested skin by the way. For $65 I would be expecting a better formulation. It doesn't even really moisturize (I tried it on the back of my ear- lol- just to get the feel of the product and have a reason to review it and warn others!) Like most of her expensive products I say ask for samples first!
Update: tried the last sample on my jawline for two days. This is my least problematic area on my face (i have plugged pores in the t-zone and that's pretty much it) and I still ended up with some small clogged pores....
The consistency is nice however. Feels moisturizing but not thick or runny. However it takes a while to soak in, and because of this, it feels like it's just sitting on the skin. Wouldn't recommend, but I still would like to try some of her other stuff!
UPDATE AUG 3 2010: I was browsing the kate somerville website (checking out the nourish daily ingredients) when I checked back on the oil free- and found that it contained dimethicone. Nice. A silicone on the skin which causes those tiny clogged pores on my face - it's in tons of foundations and moisturizers. It gives a false sense of moisture and softness. For the cost, I would expect something better.

This is amaizng. I have tried it before, but took it back. i recently bought it again along with the entire Kate Somerville Collection for acne prone skin and I just have to say that my skin has never been better. This moisturizer is so light, yet very hydrating perfect for summer and I am hoping perfect for Winter as well. The packaging is genius and I am so happy I found this. $65, for 1.7 ounces. Kate Somerville is amazing, and the ingrediants on her list are all high up on the list which means, the product is a genuine product. Definitley recommend for oily, or acne prone skins. Oh and my oil production, has gone down! Amazing.
