When this first came out a little less than a week ago, I was in Sephora and the very nice and knowledgeable SA told me about it's gel formula that is meant to stay put without flaking or smudging. Since I don't like trying on testers on my face, except for foundation, I just went ahead and bought a tube of this to try it out at home.

Let me just say, I have puny Asian lashes that really don't have length or volume and they're stick straight.

This product was really easy to apply without needing a brush comb since there were no clumps. The staying power is amazing, since most regular and WP mascaras smudge on my oily eye area, tubing mascaras are really the only ones that work for me... I'm happy to say that the staying power wasn't only with the colour staying put, but also holding a curl for my stick straight lashes! Also, the colour of this black is really a true black, the SA said this was an attribute that is due to it's gel formula (which also keeps it clump free)... but wow! It's a real black alright.

However, the biggest downer for me here is that there was no volume whatsoever for me. Sure, this mascara was truly lash enhancing, but I didn't really see much volume to the likes of DiorShow, Lash Blast, Mayb Colossal, Benefit Bad Gal, Clinique High Impact, etc.

So, it's great as an everyday mascara, due to it's staying power, colour payoff, and curl holding abilities... but this didn't really "wow" me at all. The Lengthening version of this mascara was a better success, personally speaking. I'll finish up the tube I have and update if I see any changes, but I will not be buying another tube.

Yay! I'm the first to review this new mascara by NARS. I picked it up on a whim about 4 days ago in Sephora. First of all, the brush is awesome. It's super dense, but not too big or oddly shaped. Just a good old teddy bear type brush that coats each lash giving length, volume and curl. This holds a curl like no other! I like the packaging too, but not worth 25 buckaroos. I'll stick with MAC.
