I got this as a sample with my order and decided I would give it whirl. It did soothe my blemish, but there was no noticeable difference in the amount of time it took to clear up, or in the redness. Meh.

HG for me, I use this under my makeup everyday. It heals current breakouts and I put it where I feel zits coming up too. It works great for me, I'm surprised to see so many neutral and negative reviews.

First time experience:

I bought this online and when I opened it there was a layer of brown liquid of top of the cream. Since I read this from another review before, I wasn't surprised or freaked out. I just used a spatula and stirred it up.

So.. my first experience was great despite being grossed out by the brown liquid! I like how the cream conceal my red, inflammed acne area and make my cystic acne feel much less painful after application. Perhaps my skin tone matches the colour of the cream well enough for it to be a good concealer for me! I'm really happy to find something that helps conceal my pimples without having to use cosmetics that I'm afraid that will worsen my skin condition. There are no miracle done after the first application after I wash off the cream though. My acne are still red but they seem less irritated. Like as if they're starting to heal already. Also they are much less painful then before!

I also feel that the cream keeps my oil production in control. My face felt less oily through the day at the areas where I applied the drying cream. However, i really hate the smell. It totally smells like old tyres or car oil. If it doesn't help clear my skin after some time of diligent use, I don't think I will repurchase it because of its smell. But if it does help my skin condition, i think i will put up with its smell! Anything to get those acne away from my face!

I'm glad to see that this worked for other people, but it didn't necessarily work for me. I used to get a few red, angry pimples from time to time and needed something to put on them at night to help dry them out by morning time, since they're hard to cover with makeup. I would only dab it on the pimple, not my entire face, and by morning time, the affected area would look slightly better, but not what I was hoping for. I think even if I hadn't put anything on it, it would still pretty much look the same. The amount in the container is very generous (although its pretty pricey), so I did like that, BUT since it is called 'drying cream', and I only used to it a few times a month, 6 months later, it pretty much dried itself out in the container and I couldn't even use it anymore and ended up having to throw it out. Would not buy again. If acne is an issue for you, I would recommend starting an entire regimen, like Obagi. That's what worked for me.

Great product! What can I say that hasn't already been written? I usually use the M.B. drying lotion on my acne, but if I have an awful erupted area, this is excellent because it can be dabbed on the area and worn under makeup providing treatment throughout the day.

Ok, so it smells a bit weird. But it works so I put up with it.
I use it mainly at night and it clears up little under-skin bumps and whiteheads beautifully over the course of a few days. It can also be worn under makeup - if you're pale like me - if you don't mind smelling it every now and then, but I've found just wearing it at night gets me the results I need. After other MB products clearing my acne and managing any little pimples that pop up now and then, this has taken care of what I've always found the hardest to shift - under-skin bumps. My forehead, which was clear before I stupidly tried Clinique, is now back to clear and smooth again. Worth a try, just block your nose!

I just love this product. It's done wonders on my cystic acne. I'd like to think it works even better than MB's drying lotion. The product is drying so you really need to moisturize well though. I use the drying cream every night, a thin layer over all of my face and a slightly thicker layer on my pimples. But every morning I scrub carefully along with using two kinds of moisturizers (since it's winter right now) and it all keeps the dryness at bay. My skin's looking better than it has in months. Right now I have one pimple on my face. ONE! I had loads a few months ago. But the drying cream along with some other acne products from MB have transformed my skin over the course of a couple of months.

The drying cream isn't a miracle product. And I doubt it's for everyone. But if you have oily and acne prone skin it can do wonders for you if you use it regularly and have a good skincare regime going on otherwise. In other words you you need to wash your face carefully two times a day, use a toner, use a moisturizer and use something to prevent acne like the buffering lotion or the drying cream along with a good moisturizer. And you need to scrub your face at least a couple of times a week. Do all of that and your skin will clear up in time. It has for me anyway.

This is my HG acne spot treatment! For me, It works better than BP & SA. I use this when I feel one of those cystic acne pimples. I apply it at night with a cotton swab directly to the cyst & rub it in gently. It has a calming, soothing sensation, but it doesn't burn at all. After only 1 use it shrinks & drys up cystic pimples. I also use it to treat & heal erupted blemishes as well. IMO, the Drying Cream does a better job than the Buffering Lotion. It also doesn't flake off or burn like the Drying Lotion does. For me it also has slight concealing properties, but it isn't a concealer, so don't use it expecting it conceal . A tiny little bit of this stuff goes a long, long way. It is pricy for a spot treatment, but to me it's worth every penny, especially when I don't have to replace it very often. I will definitely keep buying it, & I highly recommend it!

I bought this because the makeup lady at the Nordstroms counter recommended it to me. As another reviewer mentioned, it really is hit or miss for certain pimples. For some pimples, it dries them up (not immediately--usually takes a few days) and although they are still bumps, many never come to a head. I prefer this to them actually becoming pimples because at least this way I don't have deep red-marks. However, sometimes I feel that it creates more pimples around the area that I spot treat but those don't usually come to a head either so it's not that bad. Good amount of product for the price. Would buy again.

This didn't work for me, in fact I noticed more breakouts in the areas I used this. I returned it and got the buffering lotion which I like but dont love. Smells terrible but I could have tolerated it if it worked for me.

it is best used for the erupted pimples. It does sooth the redness and keep them from getting infected. But that is pretty much all I got from this product in 1.5 months of using!!!! It maybe have a little to do with the peeling of acne scars but it's really not much help. Erupted acnes didn't heal faster with it anyway. SO, it really is just a comforting product for me ---- it does NOT conceal, it visbily reduces the redness around the acnes tho, it makes your acne scar peel under makeup. It is NOT horrible which is why i didn't return it when I returned the MB collagen lotion with spf and buttermilk moisturizer---both, BTW, are overpriced for their values and does not moisturize enough or at all.

My favorite MB product, and one of my all-time favorite acne products. It smells a bit weird (sulpher), but it is the only product that manages to dry out my whiteheads and reduce under skin bumps AND soothing my redness and irritation at the same time. It is a bit green/yellow, so I do find that it has a color correcting benefit under or without makeup. A little goes a long way, so it is a very good value. Any salicylic facewash and alcohol based toner with help most acne if used consistently, but this product is seems genuinely unique.

I got this as a sample, and just purchased a new one. It works really well for the deep pimples I get, but the key is to catch them EARLY! Once the pimple gets to the surface, it's too late... I've had the type of acne that's under the surface, that I can feel rather than really see, and after a couple nights using the Drying Cream, it never grew into an actual zit. The smell is pretty strong, but it's the sulfur that does the job so I don't really mind.

I like MB skin care products but I hated this. I purchased it from Ulta and am glad I was able to return it. It does have a funny smell, but if it had worked it wouldn't have mattered. It claims to conceal, which I just don't understand how it could. It also claims to dry up under the surface bumps and pimples and heal erupted pimples, it pretty much failed in all areas.

I have been using this product for 6 months, for under the skin pimples and pimples that are red. I have come to realize this does not work for me, I kept using it because it didnt make anything worse , but it certainly has not made anything better. I feel like it clogged my pores as well in the long run so I will not repurchase.

I really wish I didn't waste my money on this product. It did absolutely NOTHING for my acne. It didn't cover it up, it didn't help heal my zits, it didn't do anything. I want to keep using it so I don't feel like I just threw money out the window. Would never buy this again.

Like others have stated, this stuff really is hit or miss. For some of my deep pimples, it helps clear them up beautifully. But for others, it has no effect. No idea why.
One pro is that you do get quite a bit of product, even thought the jar is small. But, the unpleasant smell of sulfur is a big con. It's only realistic to wear this stuff at home.

I am 36 and pregnant with sensitive skin. All the hormone changes are causing my skin to break out with acne that is in clusters. I tried this product as directed; put it on the trouble spots after washing face and then go to bed. I did this and was hopeful just before rinsing it off in the morning. When I rinsed it off I realized my skin was actually burned where the cream had been. I look sunburned in the areas where I applied the cream. The acne remains and I've been applying raw cucumber to ease the burn and cool off the heat. This product 'may' be effective for drying out acne but should come with a clear warning to those with sensitive skin that it can cause burns. I won't use it again and will continue to treat my skin gently in hopes of calming it down.

To be honest, I also haven't bought the product before but I have been using my TINY sample for the last 3 months (cause yes, it lasts that long!) I use it as a spot treatment for my cystic acne and my white heads and find that it works for both in different ways. For white heads, it tends to "draw them out" and make them a little bit "bigger" in the sense that they're closer to popping. For cystic acne, the effects take a little bit longer to notice, but I can say that it definitely makes a difference. Although it doesn't seem to prevent further cystic acne from popping up, it does help flatten the cystic acne and reduces the pain that tends to be associated with newly formed cystic acne.

I would definitely buy this along with maybe some other MB products, however the price is a little bit steep for me - the only good thing is that it lasts so long!
