After hearing so many good reviews of this I decided to give it a try as I was in need of a new moisturizer and my skin has been terribly dry lately. Unfortunately, this moisturizer has dried out my skin even more and it's as if it's not doing anything for me. I think it's because of the salicylic acid in it so while I can't use it right now, I'll be keeping it in hopes that it will be of better use in the summer when my skin isn't so dry. So basically I wouldn't recommend this if your skin is in need of good hydration because it just doesn't give that.

PROS: Works wonderfully for my acne prone teen. Helps control flakes without increase in acne.
CONS: May not be moisturizing enough for someone who is not truly acne prone and is more along the lines of being very oily.
ALTERNATES: Clean & Clear Acne Control Moisturizer seems to be better for my teen who is acne prone, where this may be better for someone who is very oily but not acne prone.

I wanted to try this moisturizer out for a long time and I got it on sale! I have very very acne prone skin that is very sensitive and this stuff is pretty good.
It is a light cream texture, almost gel-like and instantly absorbs into the skin. With 0.5% salicylic acid it helps treat acne pimples. It does not irritate my skin however I don't see it helping any of my acne problems.
With such a small amount of the medication, it's almost useless, they should increase the amount of medication so it can really be effective.
It lightly moisturizes the skin so I only recommend this for combo-oily skin types and it is a great moisturizer to layer with as well.
I would recommend this and repurchase because of its light texture and handy pump but I didn't see an improvement on my skin.

This is my all-time favorite moisturiser. I have been using it for over a year now, and I don't think I will be switching from it anytime in the near future (if at all!)
My skin tends to break out with most moisturising products, but I have had no adverse reactions with this one. It isn't the richest or the creamiest one out there, so I wouldn't recommend this for very dry or dehydrated skin. However, if you have combination to oily skin with occasional dry patches, it is more than enough.
It's absorbed very quickly into the skin and doesn't leave any sort of greasy residue. I also have no fear about putting it on active breakouts since it contains salicylic acid to help them heal. Plus it just feels really cool and refreshing. Some people might even say it's a little tingly, but it doesn't bother me.
The only thing I would suggest is to cut the tube in half when it seems to have run out. I discovered enough product there to last me a whole extra week! But apart from that, I really can't fault this product at all and highly recommend it.

This has saved my skin so many times. It's the perfect epitome of the saying, "don't fix what isn't broken". I've been using this since tenth grade, and I'm now in my second year of university. I'm pretty stubborn when it comes to skincare. Whenever I see something that fancies my eyes, I immediately try them on my skin and that's a trait that I'm not really too proud of. Twice I've had horrible reactions to other moisturizers and this brought my skin back to its normal condition in a week or two. I only use this every other night since I also use another product from C&C to keep my breakouts at bay. That other product is pretty strong so I try to not use them in conjunction. This contains 0.5% salicylic acid and the other product is Persa-Gel which contains 5% benzoyl peroxide. Both are known and proven to be one of the best over-the-counter products to treat pimples. Give this a try! It's very affordable so even if it doesn't work for your face, maybe you can use it on your neck or hands since its smell isn't offending at all.

This product is pretty bad. I can say it does make my skin silky smooth in some areas, but in other areas, within seconds after applying, all of my dry patches re-appear no matter how many times i apply the product. I would not recommend it if you have dry skin areas.

Over the years, I've tried a lot of clean and clear products. I've found some that I can't stand and some that I absolutly love. After I mentioned to my friend that I thought my lotion was breaking me out, she reccommened this one, saying it helped her skin a lot. I finally had the guts to stray from my very strict skincare routine (acne.org regimen), and found a new, less time consuming one. Now I cleanse with cetaphil cleanser for normal to oily skin (EDIT: lately it's been the acne.org cleanser- not perfect, but removes my makeup way better) morning and night, use the neutrogena acne stress control power clear scrub whenever I feel like I need it, then use this moisturizer both morning and night. If I have any blemishes that annoy me, I'll put persagel 10 on them at night, and a thin layer in the morning under my makeup. I really like this moisturizer because I feel like it lets my skin breathe. It leaves me with soft skin and a nice tingly feeling that goes away after a few minutes. It has an almost cooling effect on my skin. The packaging is a rectangular four ounce white bottle with a purple pump and purple and pink writing on the front. It's pretty unattractive to me because I'm not a fan of purple and pink together, but the pump dispenses a nice amount of product. I use about four pumps for my whole face, then massage it in. It doesn't dry me out, but I do think it helps with acne. If you're looking for a moisturizer that does the job while helping with acne, this is a really nice product. I believe it was around five or six dollars at my local Target. Most moisturizers make me break out, but this one doesn't. And that's always a plus.
UPDATE 1/16/13: I sweeear this has been breaking me out! It makes my skin silky and nice, but moments after applying this my skin gets really red and irratated, although it doesn't feel irratated at all. I've been trying the cerave moisturizing cream which is nice for now, but I haven't been using it for long. I think I just have horrible luch with moisturizers.

This is the only moisturiser I use. Since I first tried it I've just stuck to it because it is really good! I love that it's oil free and fragrance free. It's moisturises really well and works great as a base for my make up! This doesn't get rid of break outs, it's not quite strong enough, but it does prevent those annoying blemishes you may get whether it's hormonal or from stress! I would say that the packaging does not get all of the product out, near the end when you think you've ran out it's best to cut the tube and you'll find there's a ton of product still left in there that will last you another week!! Overall I'd highly recommend this!

This works great for me as a non-oily winter Moisturiser. I normally get awful dry patches in winter but not since I started using this. I really love it. But my skin is to oily in summer so that's when I switch to pure aloe very gel. :) stay beautifulZ.

I got this a while ago because my face wash was drying out my skin. I am also very forgetful and so if I wash my face, and forget to a day I get a few zits. But I can go a week without washing it acne free. Literally. So usually I let the water clean it an just use this moisturizer. Works great. My face is only a little bit oily on the hairline and t-zone. This helps with that but it also moisturizes where it's not oily. I would reccomend this to people with dry skin, and mild acne. It truly does what it says!<3

I switched from E45 to dermol as the E45 cream was too rich for my face, the dermol lotion was great I have tiny spots like bumps occasionally, I always thought that the clean and clear will be too harsh on my sensitive skin, the dermol was working well but I still got the odd spots - my dermatologist recommended this due to the salic acid.
The moisturizer is a good consistency for me, not as thin as dermol and not too thick either, it doesnt clog my pores, but leaves the skin feeling clean and clear and also very refreshed, with a nice glow. I have been using the dermol exfoliating scrub and the daily deep pore wash too and my skin appears more brighter and radiant, the blackhead clearing scrub got rid of any marks on my face (does not include any sun spots/freckles) - I dont have blackheads and discontinued to use it- but I can see it working well on someone who does as it opens the pores...maybe to remove the blackhead. Fragrance free.
The product is not too harsh, but some people may find it harsh especially upon their first application, as it contains some sort of menthol so it feels v tingly/may sting some ppl. I dont think this ingredient is necessary, as the product does its job well. If it goes into the eye then its abit like Vicks etc in the eye due to the menthol , not good - so 4 lippsys.
The plastic tube it comes in is strong and you can travel, excellent price.
UPDATE AFTER 2 WEEKS USE: THE MENTHOL I THINK CAUSED ME TO BREAK OUT AND MY SKIN GOT IRRITATED THIS WAS TOO RICH FOR THE SKIN AROUND MY CHIN IE GOT BREAKOUTS THERE AND NOT MOISTURISING ENOUGH AROUND MOUTH/NOSE AREA FEW LINES SEEMED APPEARENT- ALTHOUG KEPT DRY SKIN MOISTURISED. STOPEED USING CANT RISK ANOTHER BREAKOUT- HOWEVER THE EXFOLATOR AND CLEANSER BOTH OIL FREE SEEM TO BE GREAT. THIS IS NOT A BAD PRODUCT BUT THE MENTHOL AGGRAVATES THE SKIN THE OIL FREE CREAM WASH CONTAINS IT TOO BUT AS THAT GETS WASHED AWAY IT DOESNT IRRITATE SKIN TOO MUCH. IF YOU DONT HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN THIS MAY BE A GOOD PRODUCT.

This product made the difficult area of my face (chin) break out but the rest of my face soft and pimple-free. My solution is not putting this moisturizer on my chin. It's a great product and it really does fight acne and leave your face soft

I'm in my 30s with only intermittent acne, typically on my chin during TOM. I usually just put up with it and ignore the problem for the few days it's really apparent, but lack of sleep and stress kept it around longer than I'd like this month, so I broke down and went shopping. I picked up this moisturizer because it was on sale for something like $4 at Target. It was so cheap that I thought I'd just toss it if I didn't like it. This, in conjunction with a spot treatment, took care of the acne in a matter of a day or two. But I've kept using this as a moisturizer because I like it so much. It's very light and doesn't freak out my combo skin. It adds just enough moisture and seems to keep my occasional zit at bay. I've never been one to moisturize daily, but I use this stuff religiously two times per day and my skin looks a lot better for it. Only complaint is that the product comes out of the pump very quickly, so it's easy to pump too much out. But it's not like this lotion is La Mer - even if you use a little too much, it's not a huge loss! Really like this product.

I really like this moisturizer! Does it necessarily clear up blemishes? not for me, but as far as oil free moisturizers go it's really nice on my combo/oily skin. it's not borderline too thick for me like simple hydrating light was, and it actually moisturizes, unlike the simple oil free one. Not a miracle acne-clearing product, but I'd recommend it to anyone with oily skin.

I really wasn't expecting to like this moisturizer at all. It has already made such a difference in my skin!! I apply it only at night and sparingly, as it sort of stings at first because of the salicylic acid. I originally bought this because I had a bad bought of acne and was terrified of it getting worse and leaving scars. Because of this moisturizer and a few other face products I've been using, my acne has subsided and my scars are getting fainter! I wake up in the morning with plump, clearer skin every day!! For the price, I will continue purchasing this for a while. i will say that once my acne has cleared up I plan on using a moisturizer without salicylic acid, but for now it is very much needed. Love love love. I have sensitive skin and although it does sting for a little bit, it subsides and I wake up to glowing skin : )

Update 11/1/12 I used this 3 times after writing this review. The first time I applied it tingled quite noticeably and when I woke up I looked fine, no change. After I used this the 3rd time my skin on my forehead was feeling itchy and my blemishes looked worse. I won't be using this again I think maybe this is why. I stopped using this before...This is one of the only products I have not only repurchased but done so about a dozen times. This not only never broke me out but seems the more I used the clearer, softer and positively SILKY my skin was.I consistently used this for years and had the best skin of my life, the only makeup I needed was undereye concealer.I can't for the life of me remember why I ever stopped using this it seems like my skin has never been as good without it as it was when I used this everyday. The only thing I don't like about it is that it contains menthyl lactate which is a menthol derivitive that can be considered an irritant.Menthyl lactate is used as a cooling agent in cosmetics and I've noticed when I wear this moisturizer in cold weather my face feels cooler/tingler than without it.This was definitely an HG for me and hope it still will be now that I'm using it again.Paula Begoun does not recommend this but unless you have rosecea or are sensitive to menthol I wouldn't listen to her in this case.P.S. when I used this I spot treated with Neutrogena 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment and NEVER had any major pimples or breakouts. The same can't be said for when I used the 3-in-1 with other products.

I like what it does to help my acne, but it doesn't moisturize for me. I'm left with my skin feeling tight and dry. However, I will keep using this under my nightly moisturizer until I can find a better solution.

I love Love Love this moisturizer. Whenever I see it on sale or go to Walmart I buy at least two at a time . I started using this when I was in high school over 10 years ago and I've never really broken out or had acne and I'd like to think it was due to my face regimen and good genetics. This moisturizer spreads and sinks into the skin very well but during the winter my face needs a heavier moisturizer so I just add a drop of jojoba oil and that adds the much needed moisture to my dry skin. I would definitely reccomend this as I've used it for over 10 years and I love to use this before I put on primer for my makeup. If I were an anchient Egyptian I would definitely place this in my tomb for the afterlife!

This is going to sound weird, but I kind of wish this didn't work as well for my skin as it does... Whenever I use a product that is going to be absorbed into my skin/not rinsed out (ex. lotions, creams, deodorant, etc), I like it to be as natural as possible. I tried so hard to find a natural moisturizer that would work for me, but without fail, every single one broke me out. I finally caved and just went back to this; I used it when I was younger and it worked great, sure enough my face still seems to just really agree with it for some reason. It keeps all my flaky patches at bay without causing any zits to start popping up. So... I won't award it 5 full lip pies simply because the ingredients list makes me cringe a bit, but the product works really well for me so I will repurchase until I find something better.
