Nauseatingly sweet and unplesantly cheap smelling brew. Smells like a sickening car air freshener. Pass.

This is my first Jo Malone. We were looking in King of Prussia mall at Neimans. Love that mall and that store. The sas were wonderful. I got a few things and there was a table of Malone fragrances. She said try this one and I was smitten. I bought the small one and love it. Put it on tonight and dh likes it too. Very nice and easy to wear and a bit different from all my flowery ones. Love the smell, great. I hope it is not LE< ♥♥

I love Jo Malone in general and this fragrance has become one of my favorites. (I also wear pom noir in the winter and white jasmine and mint or nectarine in the summer). On first sniff, I thought this would be too masculine, but it is actually warm and sexy with a powdery, feminine drydown (not unlike Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist on the finish). I started with a small bottle and upgraded to the big bottle; I hope this becomes a permanent part of the line and they make the body products (Ho Malone's bath oils and body cremes are both better than the fragrance IMO).

I so wanted to like this fragrance. I have the Lotus Blossom and Water Lily and love that but this was a huge disappointment. The first spritz all I smelled was cedar. As it dried down the fragrance became softer, almost a little powdery and smelled so feminine. But waiting to get to that point is awful. I got a headache waiting for it to dry down and frankly I don't want to have to wait. Not for me.

I've always been intrigued by scents of wood / incense - I love the smell of both of them IRL, however when translated into perfume, often they become too strong and sharp, losing the soft warmth of the real thing. I was very curious about CdG incense series, however they turn acrid on my skin, the burnt-wood (and not in a pleasant sense) and chemical aspect was just too overwhelming. I was gun-shy about this fragrance at first - was at NM, wasn't planning on buying anything, plus I was still on cloud nine with Nutmeg & Ginger and Nectarine Blossom & Honey.
But the sweet SA talked me into it and it was love at first sniff. I can list at least 50 perfumes whose top notes I adore, only to discover that I loathe the rest of the scent once it's developed on my skin - however, I'm so glad to discover that this is true love, I've worn it daily for almost a week and I love it more each day! It captures the soft yet dry, sweet yet subtle, scent of wood, which reminds me of being in temples in Kyoto. The cardamom adds a slightly spicy note (and it smells like real green cardamom pods) while the ginger lily finishes the scent with the softest waft of orchid-like scent. The whole effect could easily have been in-your-face and garish, but Jo Malone managed to tame the ingredients and transform them into something soft, elegant and ethereal.
Please, please, please bring this into your permanent collection, because this is too sublime to be fleeting.

I was at Neimanns browsing and had no plans to purchase anything. I started talking to the SA and told her what some of my favorite scents were and she asked me if I'd tried the new Jo Malone fragrances. I had not, so she introduced me to the line (I'd never really paid much attention to this brand before). She let me test a few different fragrances and I immediately fell in love with two of them. One, of course, was Dark Amber & Ginger Lily.
This stuff is really awesome!! So much so that I purchased the 3.4oz bottle. I've been wearing this scent for a few days now and I am still as in love as when I first sniffed it that day in Neimanns. The scent lasts for hours and I find myself sniffing my wrists throughout the day just to get a whiff of this divine scent.
Like one of the previous reviewers, my only complaint is that these fragrances do not come boxed. I hate that! I am so picky about my fragrances and I do not want a bottle that someone has already touched. Also, I always get samples of all all fragrances that I purchase so that I can use the sample first and be sure that I love the fragrance. That way, if I end up hating it and have to return it, then the full size bottle is not doomed to its death. I guess that if I purchase more Jo Malone fragrances and end up hating them, they will be destroyed. I know they write this stuff off in cases such as this, but it still bothers me. Anyway, I just really wish these fragrances were boxed.
Aside from that little complaint.....I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! If it were not limited edition, this would easily be one of my staple fragrances. It is that good!!

It was instant intrigue when I saw the dark bottle and love when I tried the scent. Love it more with each use. Didn't get the coordinating fragrance because it had no scent what so ever after a few minutes on my skin and I did not like the Dark Amber and Ginger Lily as much when layered. Husband says "just ok" but this one is for me.

I just received a card from Saks with a one-use sample in the mail today and I immediately went out and bought a bottle. It smells that good. I am a sucker for amber scents, and various oriental fragrances. I am not a floral perfume person. With the combination of ginger lily however, this fragrance is outstanding. After reading that this scent is a limited edition, I did splurge on the large bottle today as I tend to use up perfume rather quickly. I tend to use perfume before work in the AM and after an evening shower as well. My husband just came home from work and said I smelled really good too...this is a definate keeper and I hope they make it a regular part of their line. The only gripe I have is that the fragrance is sold unboxed. I had to carefully select my bottle because one or two had a scuffed cap or a scuffed front Maybe I am just being too picky, but for $95 for a large bottle, this needs to be boxed and sealed. Since it is a new product, Saks had these on a special display table. People might just come through the store and spray the good bottles as opposed to the sampler though. I think I will write to the company and suggest boxing. The candles come in boxes, so why not this too?

I am in LOVE! I've been on the prowl for a new signature scent and I found it! Of course this has to be a limited edition scent. I cannot stop smelling myself after spraying it! I cannot describe the scent, just go try it for yourself. I love the Jo Malone concept, but never really adored a particular scent that i had to have. Now I am hooked! I stumbled on it at Saks, and the black bottle stood out from all the other scents that are in clear bottles. Thank you Jo Malone! I just hope it stays around.
