Pretty impressive for Sephora - I usually hate thier 'brand' products (other than the professional brushes and nail polishes) - for example, their eyeshadows and eye liners are hoRRible!

I wanted to have a compact foundation for a trip so I'm not carrying around a loose mess everywhere - Pur Minerals is a pretty good compact mineral foundation but their colours are very pink.

I bought Sephora Mineral foundation on a whim - and then checked the reviews and realized that I actually bought a makeup gem!

Coverage is on the lighter side (compared to BE and Pur Minerals) but the colour match is great and it is easy to use.

Will re-purchase when it runs out.

This is a good mineral foundation, however it doesn't last very long. After a few hours, it's pretty much all gone. That's the only reason why I gave it a 4/5, because other than that, it's a a great product. It doesn't turn me greasy and it doesn't make me look cakey. It doesn't really give as much coverage as I like though, but I guess that's my fault for choosing mineral makeup. To get a fuller coverage, I apply liquid foundation first, then put this over it. Together, they give me full coverage without looking cakey or heavy at all. Also, this compact is great because it contains no talc or parabens, which is a lot healthier for the skin and the body than products that do contain these ingredients.

For color reference, I'm NC25 and I got D25, which is a perfect match. I would definitely buy this product again :)

Im not a big foundation wearing kinda gal, however, I really like this. I wear it on nights out when I want a bit more coverage. Kepps my face semi-matte (which is what I want), doesn't feel heavy, doesn't look chalky at all. LOVE that is doesn't contain talc. Would repurchase.

perfect coverage works great as a foundation and a concealer i own bare minerals in matte and this comes really close to that but bare minerals looks more natural but this actually gives more coverage ! i swear and its cheaper i like both i use this for winter because bare minerals doesn't have that streak if i were to sweat or cry perfect for summer but this is gives more coverage but heavier

Looks great when you first put it on. I used a powder brush to apply instead of the sponge. For some reason this made my whole face look shiny after a couple hours. Back to EL Double Wear powder. FWIW, D30 was a good color match on my med-beige skin.

This powder goes on nice and matte in the beginning, but after a couple of hours, my face looked shiny and oily. I will be returning it and going back to their matte powder.

I've been using this since last December. I purchased D10 for my MAC NC15 skin tone. Even though it's the right amount of yellow and the right tone, the color is a tad darker than I'd prefer. I also tried the R15 in the store and it seemed a bit lighter and more cool-toned. I may go back and try it again to see if I could make it work. As for overall performance, this powder provides medium coverage that is able to be layered for fuller coverage. It doesn't get cakey like BE does and it actually looks better throughout the day as it blends with the natural oils on my face. In the morning after I apply, it usually looks a bit chalky until it starts to "settle" in. I've tried applying it with a flat-top kabuki, a full-size kabuki and the enclosed sponge. I actually prefer using the included sponge because it's super soft and is quick and easy to use. I do have to wear a setting powder with this. Even though it's not shiny like a lot of other mineral makeups, it still has a slight sheen from the mica. The best thing about this is that is doesn't break me out. My skin is very reactive and acne-prone and I have no problems with wearing this all day.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this product. I initially bought this for a trip, since I needed a new compact and I hate carrying a container of powder foundation and a brush on trips. It turns out that I now use this pretty much on a daily basis even after my trip is over!

The first thing I want to say is that the I am in love with the sponge/puff it comes with. I usually apply the pressed powder with a fluffy face brush, but this one is double sided and it felt so soft that I gave it a try. One side is white and it's labeled for "light coverage" and the other is a slightly more coarse black side and it's labeled for "heavy coverage". I recently found out that Sephora sells these puffs one for $6 each and I'm ecstatic that I can buy more when this one wears out (which it's already almost there since I use it daily!).

Now onto the product...the powder is super buildable and I can apply it heavier with it still looking natural! It stays on my face the whole day (8am - 6 pm) with a tiny touchup in the afternoon and keeps it smooth. The whole nasty chemical-free ingredient list is a plus and makes me feel better using it haha. I'm a lightly tanned Asian matched perfectly to a D25 and it accommodates my slightly darker summer skin too!

If I could give this a 4.5, it'd be for the slightly annoying double compact in which I have to take the puff out of the compartment beneath the powder, flip back up to the powder, and then flip to the mirror and then flip back up to get some more powder...haha but the actual product is so worth it that I can forgive it and give this a 5! :)

Good product, good coverage, not my color! I went to sephora to buy this compact and they matched me to D25, light (their lightest shade for rose undertones). Sadly, it is too dark. But I love the product, it mattifies for most of the day, easy to apply ( I apply with a kabuki brush) and covers all my PIH, no concealer needed!

I wish they had lighter shades!!!!

Note: I went back and bought their other compact, because they have a lighter shade, D15 I think. It is not mineral makeup, and does not cover as well. But the color matches better, but not perfect. So I'm not happy with either, but in terms of product, go with the mineral powder, it is much better.

So this is my first review on Makeup Alley. I purchased this compact because I had grown tired of all my past foundations. I had been using BE for years and it didn't cause me to break out more, but it did not work with my oily skin. By the end of the day, most of it had come off or looked cakey. I read about Sephora's mineral compact on here and I decided to give it a try. It is excellent. The color matches perfectly and last all day. I find myself only having to do an extra little touch up on my acne marks by the evening. I would definitely buy it again.

Best foundation I have ever used! And it actually comes in a shade that matches me perfectly and doesn't make me look orange (unlike MAC Studio Fix Fluid). I have moderate acne and scars, and this foundation does a wonderful job covering everything up, without looking caked on (also unlike MAC Studio Fix Fluid). The coverage is buildable too, so if you don't want too much, that's also an option. The little sponge that comes with it is just amazing! It also leaves you with a matte finish, so it is perfect for those who have oily skin. And, it's easy to throw in your purse or makeup bag and apply it in the middle of the day. It even comes with a mirror to make application that much easier. I took one lipstick away for packaging cause I dropped it once, and the lid broke off... so it was more my bad than Sephora's. And it is moderately priced, so I can't complain at that. But overall, I am in love with this foundation. I don't know what I'll ever do if I can't get my hands on it... nothing else really compares. Highly recommended!!!

This is my first day wearing it, but it was love at first application! I had spent about an hour at CVS trying on different foundations. I couldn't find ANYTHING that didn't have a pinkish undertone. Since I have a yellow undertone- not working for me. Went to the mall and wandered into Sephora- immeadiately picked up two of their compact that complemented my coloring. Had the girl at Sephora apply it....my skin looks FLAWLESS. I have active acne and dark acne scars, and I literally look almost picture perfect. The girl who did the application said she even switched from MAC and she was a devotee! No difference in coverage she said. This is my second day wearing it. If it doesn't break me out this will be a definite keeper. It goes on silky smooth with a normal kebuki, and the powder blends well, no cakiness. Before I was using physicians formula and this is 500 times better.

Well, I have been on that search for a mineral mu and I believe I have found it! I tried BE, Every day minerals, Urban Decay, and the list goes on and on. I don't get nearly as oily as with the other brands, and my skin feels healthier. I have been wearing MAC for ages and I know its horrible for my skin, but it just seemed to work. Overall, I would buy this again. I took of a lippie because the color range isn't that great unless you have yellow undertones.

I was looking for a pressed mineral to use everyday, I am use to using Jane Iredale but it was getting pricey and I wanted a bit more coverage. I wasn't planning on buying this one really but I was at a Sephora looking for a cleanser and end up buying this foundation. When I tried this on at Sephora, I was really surprise that this mineral foundation gives really good coverage and the finish is quite creamy and non cakey for a mineral foundation. I read the ingredient and found no bismuth oxychloride, I'm trying to avoid ingredients that has the potential to irritate or causes acne to my skin. I went ahead and bought R20 since it seems to match me in the store, but I think I need to exchange to D25 because R20 is a little bit more pink than my skintone. I've been using this foundation everyday for almost 2 weeks, I even wear it at the gym, and it doesn't run after sweating for an hour, the coverage is still good. So far I haven't had any irritation or any additional acne since using this foundation, I'm so glad that I tried this since the price is reasonable at $22. The only thing is that I wish they offer more shades selection.

Update June 2010:
So I've been using this foundation everyday for a while now, I think I've used up at least one compact. This foundation doesn't seems to irritate my skin or causes more acne, which makes me happy because I really like using this foundation because it's so convenient to use and re-apply. For color reference I'm using D25, though it's not an exact color match for me but it's the closest one, in other foundation I used/uses the following colors:
Laura Mercier "Real Sand"
Jane Iredale Pressed and Loose Base "Warm Silk"
MUFE Face & Body "Alabaster Beige"
Diorskin Nude Hydrating Makeup "021"
Mac Studio Fix "NC 30 or NC 25"
Mac Studio Tech "NC 27"
Merle Norman Luxiva Ultra Powder Foundation "Ultra Neutral"
Merle Norman Luxiva Smart Finish Compact Makeup "Natural"
Bare Escentual Mineral Matt Foundation in "Golden Medium"

Update: August 2010
I'm still using this foundation, it is still great and it doesn't cause any breakout or allergy on my face. Though I think I'm still on the lookout for another mineral foundation that have better sun protection, but still love the finish and lasting power of this foundation.

Ever since I’ve noticed that my Diorskin Fluide is almost finished and since it is unfortunately discontinued, I began a quest for a new foundation. My skin is oily and, while I do not have heavy acne and I am not breakout prone, I can count on one acne per week. My pores are also very expanded. In spite of this I am not a fan of full and medium coverage foundations. What I require from the foundation is minimal coverage – the foundation simply needs to even-out my skin tone, cover slight discolourations and minimize the appearance of the pores. My MAC shade would be NC-20.
I got this in D25, which is a bit too dark, but it is the lightest shade I can get here. I liked the idea of this being talc free powder and I hoped it would be a great alternative to much pricier Diorskin Nude Loose Mineral Powder.
The powder comes in a round compact. Underneath the powder pan is a dual-side sponge and a mirror (not very practical since you have to flip the foundation pan up and down). Two differently coloured sides of the sponge serve to give various degree of coverage – the white side is for light coverage and the black side is for heavy coverage. I find that both sides apply the foundation too heavy for my liking. Instead, I apply it with a powder brush.
The foundation minimizes the appearance of pores up to some degree, but it doesn’t mask them completely.
It seems more drying than Dior Nude Loose Mineral Powder. It also emphasizes dry patches, and if applied heavily, it can look cakey.
It did not break me out and it didn’t oxidize.
There is 10g (0.35oz) of the product. It has SPF 10.
Ingredients: Mica, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Zinc Stearate , Silica , Phenoxyethanol , Sodium Dehydroacetate , (+/-) : Ci 77491 (Iron Oxides), Ci 77492 (Iron Oxides), Ci 77499 (Iron Oxides).

I have tried so many brands, I always keep coming back to using this. The price is right, it has buildable coverage, and I can use it daytime and night time.

One thing I can complain about is the packaging is horrible. I also have to use another powder for a clean soft finish because this can look a bit cakey if you accidentally use too much.

I knew this foundation was a keeper when an esthetician friend told me my skin looked really good. The texture is velvety, and just glides right on my skin. I like that it perfects my complexion yet looks like I have nothing on. My skin has been really dry this winter and this powder is the only one that doesn't exacerbate the situation and helps diminish any dry skin flakes.

I bought the Sephora complexion kit so I also received the primer, concealer, and brushes to go with it. It was a great bargain but I will definitely repurchase this foundation by itself again. The pink-based shade is just right for me.

I have fairy normal skin, no break out, not oily at all.. but i was surprised how bad my complexion looked after. I was actually so embarassed i washed my face =/

and this powder is super matt, almost a little too matt??
i'm used to the bare minerals.. that broke me out. now i found bumps on my face today too.. AHH!!!!!!!! HORROR!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm returning this

I am so glad that I finally tried this. I got this in a kit, which included brushes and a concealer. I chose the medium kit, which contains D30 shade. I am NC 30 and this is a perfect color for me. I have tried majority of the mmus in the market, from L'Oreal to Everyday Minerals. I have to say that this is the BEST mmu that I have tried. It has a great coverage. The coverage is natural and flawless (although my own skin is uneven because of old acne scars). The shade D30 is a God sent for my very yellow undertone and works great with bronzers and blushes. I do not use the primer that was also in the kit right now. I just apply my daily moisturizer, conceal the flaws with the great concealer and apply the powder with the great brush in the package.... Great foundation and I think this is my HG-

I use this product as a touchup powder during the day. The coverage is excellent and it applies easily. I use shade D25, as I'm really fair. It doesn't make me break out either. The downside is the packaging and the sponge. I hesitated to buy this because the packaging is so bulky. I don't like carrying it because it takes up a good portion of my cosmetic bag and makes it heavy along with the other things I carry. I do like that there's a mirror included, but don't like that it's on the bottom of the case, and that I have to flip it up to get to the mirror. Very cumbersome and not well thought out.

Also, the sponge included with the compact is decent, but I have to be careful not to apply it to heavily because the sponge will drop product on my face in a heavy clump, and my skin instantly gets the orange-peel look. I then have to wipe the excess product away. Not pretty or effective, and when I'm rushing to a meeting or to a presentation, I don't have tons of time to keep fixing my face.

I now keep it in my drawer at work for quick touch-ups and have replaced the powder in my cosmetic bag with a much thinner compact. I'm not sure I'll repurchase.
