I really prefer this over the original, very harsh formulas. Doesn't make my skin feel tight or dry and doesn't leave my face red. Not a bad deal either, about $10.50 for 6.7 ounces. Will have to see however, if I like it better than my Olay Refreshing toner and Estée Lauder's Re-Nutriv Softening Lotion toners.

the best toner ever! It moisturizes the skin and makes it purified and glowing.. I have combination to oily skin and my skin loves it!
I like the fact it has no significant scent (I prefer fragnance-free products) and its very gentle to the skin. Will definetly buy it again and again

My holy grail toner! This never breaks me out, is gentle, fragrance-free, and soothing. It's actually pretty decently priced for Clinique skincare, too. This is the only good toner Clinique makes because it's alcohol-free and doesn't burn or sting. I'm on my third bottle already and will continue to buy this product. The slight amount of salicylic acid it contains is good for acne prone skin, too.

I use the Mild Clarifying Lotion after cleansing with my Glytone Mild Cream Wash. When I apply this with a cotton ball, I love how it takes off the last traces of makeup but doesn't dry my skin out like the other Clinique toners do. Instead, it makes my face feel more clean and refreshed. I follow with Clinique DDMG, and I'm done. This is my own "3-step", and I couldn't be happier with the results. Using this twice a day helps my combo, acne-prone skin stay clear and healthy. I'll buy this toner again.

In general, I don't use facial skin care very often. I like when I remember to use this. Like all Clinique products, it's fragrance free. I love that it is so mild without alcohol or acid. It doesn't feel like my skin is burning when I put it on. Should probably use this more than I should, but for my normal/combo skin, it deflakes very well after cleansing. It makes my cheeks clearer than before. Packaging isn't great, rather this be in a pump or even a spray. I don't think toners are all that necessary, but if I had to keep buying one, this would be it.

I can't recommend this product enough if you have sensitive skin! I'm not a fan of Clinique's 3 step skin care line, but this is an exception! This toner is alcohol free and contains salycilic (spelling?) acid and aloe vera. Just enough sa to keep my t-zone pores clear and the aloe vera is very soothing. If you are looking for an effective toner for normal to dry skin that's sensitive then you must try this one!

This product is great! The mild version is alcohol-free and contains some salicylic acid (although I do not know the pH of the toner to know whether the salicylic acid would be effective). I would suggest this toner to anyone.

UPDATE 5-7
I'm still loving this product! Helps a bit to keep breakouts at bay and makes my skin look all glowy and smooth, with pores reduced! A HG for sure!
NICE! As the name implies, MILD is the key word in this toner, which soothes, calms, lightly hydrates, and clarifies using 0.5% BHA, without alcohol or fragrance. I can see this toner being perfect on ANY skintype.
Usage
Depending on your skintype, what other products you're using, and personal preference, it can be used 2X/day to once/week. I've been experimenting, and I prefer it in the a.m. after washing my face with my usual Sage Facial Shampoo Regular. Then I follow up with my Clinique MSE.
After a few weeks of use...My foundation (NARS Oil Free) goes on smoother with a lesser occurance of flakies, and my skintone is more even and brighter, and my old red marks from past zits have lessened a tad. I still use my higher % BHA product (Sage MSSR 2%), but I use it less -- approx. once/week, rather than 2-3/week.
**I have acne-prone/combo-oily/sensitive skin**

I wanted to edit my initial post from 2005. I've now been using this product for a couple of years now and no longer have any problems with it. It does a good job of exfoliating my skin and keeping it soft.
I bought this product because I was having very dry flaky skin, partially due to the winter weather and partially due to overdoing BP to fend off a premenstrual breakout. I also do get blackheads on my nose and thought that if this got rid of the flakes on my cheeks and the blackheads I would be thrilled. Well I was loving this product for the first 3 or so weeks of use (I'm now on week 5), but at around week 4 of use, my previously clear skin broke out in tiny whiteheads all over. I have now read that BHA can do this to some people with sensitive skin. I decided to see if this passed and used the toner for another week, but have not seen much improvement and am discontinuing use today. I really wanted to like this product and thought I found a miracle in the beginning, but now I just think it's not for me. I think I'd rather have the occassional flakes than little bumps all over my skin any day.

This keeps my skin soft and flake free. I can really see the difference when I run out and don't use it for a couple of days. My skin then feels rough and dry.
It works wonders on blackheads but I can't say it does much for blocked pores, blemishes or past scars. However, this has gained a strong HG status because it keeps my skin looking smooth and soft. My skin: combination to dry and sensitized.UPDATE: Ok, another no-no for my sensitive skin. Apparently I'm allergic to BHA's because this and the Aspirin Mask give me tiny bumps and break-outs. Too bad, felt great, but not for the BHA sensitive :o(

Best alcohol-free toner out there, however I just find a toner to be one extra step in my skin-care routine. I haven't really noticed a difference with or without it, so I think I'll just use up this bottle and not repurchase. However, if you are looking for a toner, this is the best of the whole lot of them.

Not a good choice! Cliniques toners (are far too astringent and harsh. Never again!
This one, is the mildest of the lot.

Brilliant!! I haven't used a Clinique toner for years as I still thought they all contained alcohol... until I recently read about this one on a beauty forum which made me do a double take! I have combination, acne-prone sensitive skin and love using this on any dry patches. It immediately soothes my skin and although it's slightly moisturising, it doesn't make me break out. Will definitely repurchase... again and again!

I was happy using this for a week and then I realized why I stopped using this a couple of years before. It doesn't have enough of a slip to it. Theres too much of a gel consistency to this toner. I like the toners I use to slide over my face easily and quickly, this one doesn't. Also, my face didn't feel really clean afterwards. I did notice some slight deflaking but I could also attribute it to Paula's 1% BHA gel. I will return at my first opportunity.

I found this clarifying lotion to be the best of the bunch that Clinique makes. It doesn't dry out my skin like the #2 does, and has just enough salicylic in it to help keep my blackheads in check. I've purchased this 3x now, and will continue to.

I love this toner! I generally don't like anything in the Clinique skin care line, but this is different because -- shocker! -- there's no alcohol! What a concept. Clinique should just trash those "numbered" lotions and sell only the Mild Lotion; then again, they should trash their entire skin care line, but that's another story. This keeps my pores clear, thanks to the .5% Salicylic Acid, and I will continue to repurchase. I use it in the morning following Eucerin Pore Purifying Foaming Cleanser.

Total HG product! I use this after the Comforting Cream Cleanser and it doesn't suck all the life out of your skin like the other toners Clinique has. I can't believe I didn't try this before and kind of stumbled accross what I call "Clinique's secret regimen". They don't ever come out and say that Comforting Cream Cleanser followed by the Mild Lotion followed by a moisturizer is excellent for sensitive and/or dry skin. They prefer to tout the '1, 2 & 3' 3-steps. This toner is awesome and is soothing as well as mildly hydrating. I highly recommend. After using this "secret regimen" I have found that my skin is glowing and clear. I am in love!!!

I first started using this product a couple of years ago and I liked it. I had gone to the Clinique counter to purchase more foundation (Super Balance) & I was interested in the level 1. The sales person said that there was little benefit to level 1 and suggested the Mild Clarifying Lotion instead.
When I ran out, I did not buy it again and I cannot honestly remember why. For some reason, my skin started breaking out back in December of this year and I still cannot figure out why, so I am going to blame the weather. I remembered liking the clarifying lotion, so I decided to purchase it again when Bonus Time came around late in January. I have been using it for the past couple of weeks and I have noticed a change for the better in my skin!
What I like about this product is that it is gentle on my sensitive skin and that I feel like it is hydrating as it is refreshing my skin. I use this product in the AM and in the PM in conjunction with Cetaphil (sensitive skin formula).
I have combination/sensitive/acne prone skin...
UPDATE 06/13/05
Still using this toner, which has lived up to what I initially said. Summer is here and my skin is producing more oil & it is still working well.
