I had two initial impressions of Mitsouko. The first was, "Wow, that's quite an in-your-face oriental scent." The second, after it began to settle was, "What is that memory that this keeps trying to jostle out of my brain." I kept smelling and I kept thinking. Finally, it hit me... it reminded me of the scent of a slightly wet, dirt road and trees in full summer bloom at night. I don't know why, but, it brought back a memory from YEARS ago of when I visited the Jacob's Pillow art center in Massachusettes. It makes me remember walking to see a performance of the Red Shoes and I can recall the heavy scent of a previous rain still hanging in the air, crickets chirping in the late summer evening, women with expensive fragrances walking around me to get to their seats. However, for about 3 hours before it settled on me to that earthy fragrance, it was abit too straightforward and womanly. I kept wondering if the people around me were thinking "That is some strong perfume."

Osmoz.com described this as a fruity chypre, and I didn't think I'd like it - normally I'm not a big fan of woody fragrances. I was surprised to find out that I like this one, the bergamot is very distinctive in the top note - green, fresh and slightly bitter with a zing. Then, the heart develops, I smell fruity spiciness, the fruit is supposed to be peach and I thought I smelled cinnamon, which I suprisingly adore in this. The drydown is a sexy, woody, mossy smell - definitely not a hot weather fragrance, but it's not too warm either. Very sensual but subtle, I agree that this is a very distinctive smell. I really like it, but since I can't imagine wearing this to work, I am still on the fence whether I should buy it.

The scent is totally unique (in a good way) and I can try to describe it as a spicy green but you really have to smell it to understand. It doesn't have this annoying powdery dry down that so many fragrances have and it lasts very well. Just when you think you really love this scent, the heart notes kick in and you fall for it all over again as it mellows out into a distinctive but soft smell

If you want to wear this during the day you can do so without any problems, just make sure you spritz it on a little while before you go out as it can be strong when freshly applied.

My new signature scent!

Mitsouko is quite simply one of the most
magnificent, feminine and sexy
fragrances of all time. Very French, dressy evening fragrance.
Completely unique. If you ever
get a whiff of Mitsouko, you will
never forget it. I wish I had
more places to wear this one...
