Honest to God--without seeing so many good reviews from MuA members and also from Paula Begoun's cosmetics reviews, I don't think I will EVER set my eyes on this dirt cheap loose powder !! I have used Bobbi Brown, QUO( both are too grainy)Clinique ( fine texture, but can't find exact color match) Lancome ( fine texture but poor oil absorbing ability )Cover girl ( the worst transluscent powder--it looks quite patchy on my face),and I was just about giving up finding the right loose powder before I found this holy grail. The color looks quite natural( not scary white), the granule is fine and it controls oil like nobody's business, plus it is dirt cheap. It is perfect for touch-up during the day--Seriously, what else can you ask from a loose powder?!

The only reason I took off two lippies is 'cause of the packaging. The cover of the case cracked on me in a week. Other than that, this stuff is pretty great. YOu can't go wrong with the dirt cheap price and the great texture.

My experience with this powder began with half of the product spilling out when I was trying to take off the adhesive paper over the holes. Thank goodness it got better after that! In fact, this is my HG powder! It makes my face look smooth and flawless, something NO powder has been able to do. And it's ability to keep shininess at bay is amazing... I had given up on my Ideal Balance foundation because it made my face so oily, but not when I use this powder! I do hate the packaging... the foam sponge has an odd, rubbery smell, and is very cheaply made. But substitutions are very easily made. I would recommend this powder to anyone with oily or combination skin.

This is probably the only loose powder I have liked so far and I have bought many in the past (e.g. Coty Airspun face powder, PF Aqua powder, CG, etc.). I have been using this for about a week now and I have not experienced any break outs. I bought mine in Translucent and boy does it do a great deal on absorbing oil and reducing shine.
Another thing I do have to mention is to be careful when dusting it on b/c esp. if you have dry, flaky skin like me, [sometimes] it'll accentuate dry patches but that doesn't happen that often, at least for me - just moisturize really well beforehand.
Update: I no longer use this. Up until a few days ago, these little red bumps started popping up on my face (there areas where I dusted on the powder like in between my eyebrows, cheeks, cheek planes, temples, etc.) and I couldn't figure out why but then I finally realized that the powder was the culprit. *Sigh ... that's too bad, it really did a good job absorbing oil and reducing shine. This would've been my HG if it didn't break me out and since it's so damn cheap.

I like this as well as any loose powder. I wish it came in a nicer package. My face has been breaking out lately and I can't determine whether it is my powder or my foundation so proceed with caution (although I think it may just be my foundation).

I love this powder!! It makes my skin look flawless. I bought 2 a light color to use now and a darker one to use after I tan. The reason why I gave it a 4 is cause I think I'm breaking out cause of this. Obvousily it ain't stopping me from using it :-\.
UDATE This is definitely going up for swap/raok. I tried to work with this cause its such a great powder but this is the cause for my skin breaking out :(

I have found my holy grail loose powder! I was looking for an oil controlling powder that still looked natural, and stumbled across this little gem. Lightly dusted over my foundation, it gives a flawless, natural finish that honestly keeps oil slicks at bay most of the day. I don't have a problem w/ this being too "light" because I have an almost porcelain complexion at the moment. The packaging does suck - that little sponge thing inside is useless, toss it - but for less than 3 bucks for an AWESOME powder, who cares?!?

I gave in and bought this powder after reading the rave reviews and I'm so glad that I did! It definitely sucks up the oilies that I have and leaves my skin looking flawless. Great buy and it's so cheap!

MAJOR RAVE!! MUA reviews have enticed me to try some drugstore cosmetics. This product is wonderful. I have tried several other more expensive powders, and none compare to this. It blends right in and doesn't look ashy or white. It smooths my skin, hides my pores, and controls oil. I also got the pressed powder. I would tell anyone looking for a powder to run and BUY THIS!!!

Little can be said about this product that havent been said before... but this product rocks! It sets my concealer, and doesnt look like i applied a powder mask to my face. I have to admit.. the cap is horrible.. as you can just pull it off instead of screwing it down, and the little foam puff is almost joke-a-ble as they thought people might use it.. but if applied right with a brush or 'puffier' puff.. it looks amazing!

I have found my HOLY GRAIL. After I put this on I was like DAMMMM (excuse the langauge) I look good. Flawless, even skin tone and glowing. I couldn't believe it. Listen, if you don't have it .....please run, no I mean fly out to your nearest KMART, Target or Walgreens and purchase this NOW!!!!!! Everytime I pass a mirror I'm like WOW!!! I can't wait until tomorow when I get to put it on again.

*Thump*...that was Ben Nye's Neutral Set powder being knocked off the top of the "Effective, Inexpensive Loose Powder" heap. NYC's loose powder ($2.50) "no colour", and unlike Neutral Set, doesn't leave me with an initial ashy cast, and feels lighter on.
[In all fairness, Ben Nye is a "theatrical/studio" makeup line.]NYC's loose powder works well at controlling oilies, though I do touch up with the pressed powder mid-day (super-oily skin), *and* works well as a setting powder for cream powder shadows without changing their colours. A great and easily located find. Also, Transulent works for me, despite my being an NC41.

I bought this powder on the recommendations of MUAers. I have to say it is just an okay powder IMHO. I bought this before the pressed powder in translucent(see review, I LOVE it)because I couldn't find the pressed in the same shade. I much prefer my SK loose powder or my beloved BE Mineral Veil, but for the price, I can't complain too much.

I took all your recs and decided to pick this up. It was dirt cheap (around $2) and it works! It soaks up shine and makes my skin look amazing without making me break out.

I'm changing my review of this. I wanted to love this, I swear I did, but after wearing it for 4 days my usually crystal clear skin had developed several pimples. I stopped using this powder and sure enough my face cleared up. Looks like I'll be sticking to my MAC Blot Powder. Oh well!

i left a msg at the mua board and ask u ladies which loose powder is good, and many of you told me that the dirt cheap NYC loose powder is good. so, i decided to give it a try! the powder is not finely milled, but it glides on smoothly! super nice! i brought mine at target for only $2.44 +tax! the only thing i don't like is the thin powder puff and the lid, it comes off very easily! will repurchase again for this excellent powder! i got more than what i paid for! =)

I left my good powder at home last summer while at the shore- and the only store was a Wal Mart. NYC had cheap powder I figured I wouldn't mind ditching at the end of the week.
It came home with me wrapped in ziploc bags. This has a great texture and is truly no color; I have super oily T zone that it controls the oil well and a super dry cheek area where it does not cake or flake.
The packaging isn't great- forget using the wimpy little foam applicator and use a powder brush or a good puff, but it gains back its lipstick for only being $2!

All I can say is WOW! New York Color is another great cheap makeup line! This powder was great, it disappeared right into my skin and controlled shine really well. Plus it's the cheapest loose powder I've ever come across-what an awesome find, this'll be my staple from now on.
Would highly recommend!
