I bought this for an emergency because I was under the impression that it was a great basic mascara, what a nightmare. It was all clumpy, it flaked, I couldn't get a natural decent looking coating and for the life of me I couldn't get it off even with removers. Then when I grudgingly went to use it a second time it so completely clumpy that I had to throw it out.

Overall good mascara; applies easily, doesnt clump, and makes my lashes look longer, thicker, and darker. Also holds a curl well. The only problem is that it tends to flake after half a day. Would repurchase, unless i find a mascara that does not flake.

I love it! I was surprised by the many negative reviews but I realize all cosmetics do not work the same for all people.

It did indeed lengthen and make my lashes dark brown. I never wanted volume. In fact I shy away from volume because it seems IMO that mascaras which volumize also can get clumpy and flake. I guess my lashes are somewhat long but they are non-existant because they are two-toned: red and blonde. This makes them look like they exist!

It stays on well and does not flake.

I have a somewhat oily eye area so this may be the reason some have problems removing it or it being too dry but not a problem for me

I've used it for years. Great value! It works on my eyelashes. I can go for a natural look or put an extra layer at the ends of eyelashes for a sexy dramatic look. It will smudge some, but it is not a big problem. I like the brush because I can get very precise with the coverage. I guess everyone just has to find what works for them.

NEVER, EVER AGAIN!!!! I normally buy Maybelline Volum Express Turbo, it gives great volume but length also. I can't believe Great Lash is rated #1 in different magazines, etc. It SUCKS! It gives some volume, NO length, is dry, clumpy and I have to pile it on to get any results. I only bought this because they were out of my Turbo, I guess if a gal has naturally thick or long lashes this would be fine, or someone who doesn't want alot of lash, but I do. My eyes are my best feature so I need some lash. This should be called "loser lash".

I don't why this is highly regarded by MA's, editors and fashionistas. I found this product to be very drying and hard to remove. had to use vaseline, a no-no for my acne-prone skin. I lost a lot of lash before I gave up on this altogether. I

I purchased this after reading all the great reviews here at MUA..... Hadn't tried it since my disappointing experience with it when it first came out in the '70s (gasp - my age is showing) I thought maybe it had improved with time & the price was right at $3.50, so what the hey..... Maybe the problem is, I don't have any lashes to speak of to apply it to - they have always been sparse & short, years of mascara use have only made it worse. Using this wasn't much better than going without mascara, plus I had raccoon eyes in no time - even tho this is supposed to be waterproof??? It's back to my Max Factor 2000 Calorie.

the first time i put it on, i found that it clumped easily and it was very dry. i guess it worked though because my lashes looked longer and thicker. but when i run out of this, i think i'm going to purchase a different one.

I LOVE this mascara! It's the only one that I'll actually use everyday. It doesn't clump on me and if I put it on too clumpy, I just brush it out right after I put it on.

It's really easy to get off: Just use the Oil of Olay with aloe or the Philosophy purity for your face on your eyes. Rinse with a wet washcloth without scrubbing hard and it easily comes off-Even if it's waterproof.

Have this in soft black and I really like it. For me it gives soft, un-smudgy natural looking lashes! Removes easily with baby oil in the evening. Plus it's inexpensive. Satisfied.

so many bad reviews here about that, I dont know. it is very good for my lashes, I have long fine lashes and this mascara works very good for them, it also doesnt smear,so waterproof, plus, it gives some nice volume to them. I use it in black, that looks very nice on me then. I think it is the best cheap mascara, in any case, and I would buy it again than spend money for an expensive one which does nothing good.

This mascara has really stuck to its name. It does create a great lash effect. I always have thin straight lashes, but after I 1st use my eyelash curler and then apply it, my lashes look so sexy. I usually wear a bit of eye makeup, and I'm a HUGE perfectionist when it comes to my lashes and eyeliner. This worked wonders for my eyelashes. My eyes stood out beautifully and there were no clumps or smudges. The waterproof kind REALLY held on to the form of my lashes as soon as I applied it. It dries fast so if you use a comb right after, you might get a little back on the comb. Otherwise, this is an excellent mascara that I still love to use. It is cheap, but it works great!

This mascara is not so great. I found that it smudged, and flaked (this stuff BURNS when it gets in the your eyes). Plus, it really didn't do anything for my lashes. It darkened them, yes, but not anything else.

This is a pretty good product, the instrcutions seem a little confusing, they say that it is actually important to pump the brush before application,.... over all it is a good mascara, I love how it desolves well with makeup remover, yet blackens every lash.... This will serve as my weekend mascara

Usually I prefer high-end mascaras, but since this one is supposed to be a makeup artist staple, I decided to give Great Lash a try. I usually like to use a waterproof mascara, because when you curl your lashes, the fibers in waterproof mascara hold the curl all day. This was not so with Great Lash. I found the forumula to be very thin and not thickening or lengthening in any way. I also didn't like the brush-I was suprised by how small the brush was. I had to apply 3-4 coats to get the same effect as I would with, say, Definicils. Very disappointing. If you're looking for a subtle mascara you might like this one, but for a dramatic effect it has nothing to offer.

Yikes. Wonder why makeup artists supposedly rave about this product. Used it on a client and it gave her raccoon eyes. Good thing she didn't give a fuss about it. :(

Although it did thicken my lashes it made them very clumpy and feel heavy and sticky. Would not get it again!

I was a little confused about the reviews on here. The magazines go crazy for Maybelline Great Last, but the majority of reviewers hated it. I read through most of the reviews, (took me a long time) decided to go out and purchase a tube for myself to see which side I am going to pull for.

I noticed a lot of readers had problems with flaking, let mascara dry completely, only a few seconds, take an eyelash comb and go through your lashes. Perfect. Took out clumps and flakes. By midday, still no flakes.

The other thing, it does make your lashes slightly hard, but it does curl and lengthen. I have yet to find a Mascara that works that doesn't harden my lashes. I can deal with the hardness. It doesn't look fake, spidery or clumpy.

Taking this off -- I usually take a rag, wipe under my eyes and gently buff my lashes. Don't pull, don't rub, don't do anything but gently buff. Remember, this area is delicate. After that, I wash my face and that does the trick.

Overall, for the dirt cheap price and staying power, it's worth it. Don't expect a miracle product, but it's definitely one that shouldn't pass you by.

Well, I am just stunned by all the negative reviews. This is my HG and always will be. I have tried so many different kinds of mascara, including the somewhat pricey stuff from Lancome, Chanel, Clinique, and Urban Decay, as well as L'Oreal and Avon, and that's just in the last year. I have never found anything that remotely approaches this. I get no clumps whatsoever -- it's very natural-looking -- and "waterproof" doesn't begin to describe the staying power. ("Teflon," maybe.) And the super-low pricetag leaves me more money to spend on my ridiculous but essential $40 concealer. I wonder if this is a mascara best suited to people who are already pretty happy with their lashes; they're one of my best features and too much augmentation sends me right into Jennifer-Lopez-fox-fur territory. Maybe this explains the reviews? Oh well, ladies, stay away from this stuff if you like -- it just means more for me!
