Fantastic full cover foundation! My color is 1N Ecru it is a perfect match. I tried this based on all the raved about youtube reviews. I am in between MAC NC15 & NC20. If you are a true NC15 this will be a tad too dark, and if you are a true NC20 this is a tad too light. I have horrible dark circles and always layer 2 or 3 high end pigmented concealers on top of my regular foundation. With this foundation, I only need 1 concealer because it knocks most of my under eye circles out. It is truly long lasting, sweat proof, and stays in place. You only need a tiny amount for the entire face. It gives a nice matte finish and can cover almost anything I would say. This can feel both lightweight and heavy depending on how much you use. For instance I could layer on MAC studio fix fluid and it never felt heavy or looked like makeup. If you use too much of this it will feel masky and kind of settle into pores. This is one of those foundations where I would recommend a setting powder because it doesn't feel soft until you set it with powder. I tested this foundation's non transferring claims and it passed with flying colors. I can take a tissue and blot any of my foundations, including mineral makeup and the foundations always transfer to the paper. If you press a tissue all over your face with a firm press the tissue remains white. No distinct scent, kind of like Revlon color stay, a mild natural fragrance. I'm very acne prone & have sensitive skin that turns red easily, no problems yet. Will update this review later. I am beyond pleased, and always thought Estee Lauder foundations were too dark and for older skin types but its working for me. Also 3 people bought this same foundation while I was waiting to get helped, they were all 30-65 so I think this foundation works for all skin types and ages. The coverage is buildable so start off with a small amount. It looks dewy the first minute but it dries matte. Cant wait to try the double wear light as well. 5 Stars but know this is an extremely full cover foundation! Makes your skin look flawless, and photographs beautifully! Has spf 10 too!

I don't know why I haven't rated this earlier... I like this foundation! It is one out there that keeps oil under control but at the same time doesn't emphasize all dry patches and looks very natural (if applied with fingers and sparingly!) The main factor of liking it so much is, of course, staying power! This stuff stays on for very long time! Have never broken me out, doesn't transfer on clothes and stays put even after swimming! I am 2N1 (NC 25) desert beige in it. And you get very good product for what you pay for! The main with this foundation is to moisturize very very well before applying it! I have normal/combo skin mainly, it tends to be oilier in summer and more dry in winter. I have to put a lot of moisturizer in winter and a bit less in summer but still have to put it on!As I mentioned even though I do have more oily skin in summer I still have to put some moisturizer under the double wear, otherwise dry patches and tight skin guaranteed.

I love Estee Lauder Double-Wear Foundation! I have been using this now for 2yrs. I've tried Lancome, Clinique, and Elizabeth Arden and others. This foundation gives me a very flawless finish and lasts and lasts! Sure, it's a little pricey but you get what you pay for, right? I do wished it had a pump...that's the only thing I can find wrong...is that there is no pump, lol. I have had many, many compliments while using this foundation. I will try different foundations, but always go back to Estee Lauder! Love it!!!
Update: 12/2/12....I am still using this magnificent foundation. Yes, I have tried others at Sephora, Ulta, Mary Kay, and Lancome but I ALWAYS come back to Estee Lauder Double Wear. I get so many compliments about how flawless my skin looks while wearing this. A little goes a long way, by the way! LOVE IT!!! I have even got several friends hooked on it!

this is my new HG foundation! i was in love with the Clarins mattifying foundation for about 2 years (used bare minerals before that), but after reading so many great reviews of this foundation, i just had to try it!
i got very lucky and the sales assistant helped me choose a shade that is perfect for my skin tone, but when she proceeded to apply it to my face, after trying to get me to buy some other gel cremes and oil reducers and applying them too liberally to my face, she ALSO used WAY too much foundation. i was shining like crazy under those neon lights!
however, i realized right away that this was her fault and i bought the foundation anyway and now i am in love! its stays on for very long and there is only minimal shininess at the end of the day. i don't even have to use more than a light swipe of translucent powder over it!
its always been such a hassle for me to find a proper foundation for my oily skin, but this one really does the trick - especially with Clinique pore minimizer underneath.
the price is very acceptable, but the packaging could get annoying, but i'm sure i'll be able to get most of it out with the end of a skinny make up brush so i'm not too worried.
THANK YOU to all of you who write these fantastic, detailed reviews of the products on this sight!!!!

I tried this foundation about 6 or 7 years ago and hated everything about it.It looked pasty on my skin and it felt so heavy, like wearing a mask.
Fast forward to July 2010...I stop by my local EL counter to look around for a new foundation and the SA recommends I try DW(the # 1 seller at the EL counter) and I told her I'd try a sample just to see if I liked it better now.I'm so glad I did.I had to find a method of applying this so it looked good on my skin and I figured it out. I have to mix the DW with a couple drops of argon oil and then apply with a sponge. This looks very natural and it wears all day with no problems at all.I never even need powder.I wear Desert Beige (NC25) and it is a perfect match for me.I am so glad I gave this another try.

I gave a similar review to Nars Sheer Glow, as I combine these two foundations for the perfect color and coverage. I start with clean skin - no primer or moisturizer, as I have combination skin against a subtropic backdrop (think 90+ degrees with suffocating humidity). I take a damp sponge and stipple Estee Lauder Double Wear (in Ecru) on my face. I dab on thin layers until my melasma/rosacea/freckles fade, then I apply Nars Sheer Glow (in Ceylan) to combat the slight cakeyness and pink tones of DW. I can't use one without the other, but the bulk of the job is done by DW. 16-hr days, and the stuff stays put. Through various temperature changes, perspiration, eating, cheek against my phone, etc. Can't say enough for the staying-power of this foundation. I wouldn't say it's stand-alone perfect, but no other foundation comes close. I do set this w/MAC prep+prime powder, and the usual countouring/highlighting stuff - but if I didn't use DW as the very first step, everything would melt off in 2 hrs. The coverage alone is worth 5 lippies because I'm complimented on my (terrible) skin on a daily basis. No one believes that I have blotchy skin. Really, my face is a myriad of reds, brown spots, and pinks; there's no way a little Sheer Glow and Laguna could cover that. I have DW to thank.

Update: Ok, so I have been using this foundation since Oct 2010 (it is now May 2011), and I have to edit this review a bit. At first I loved this foundation.. but my opinion has changed over the past several months. While I love the fact that it does not break my skin out, it is long-wearing, and provides good coverage, I have found many things I do NOT like. First, the color selection is very limited for someone like myself with YELLOW undertones.. 4W1 is too light, 6W1 is too dark, and a mixture of the two still doesnt give me the right color. It gives me this faux-tan/orange look. Also, While my skin does look nice in dim lighting, my flaws are emphasized in regular lighting.. & the foundation looks flat out CAKEY in natural and indoor lighting. In general, my pores appear larger, my dry spots are exaggerated, and my skin looks almost kind of dull. Also, my skin does not stay matte with this foundation any more than it does with a natural finish foundation.. I switched back to MUFE Mat Velvet+ this wknd and have not had to blot once today and I have been wearing it for 5hrs already.
LOVE this foundation! I have very oily skin and this product stays on great all day long- even thru my mid-afternoon naps on the weekends. It does not help with oil control, which I do not believe it claims to, but it also does NOT break me out- which is a total plus. I switched to this foundation about 2 weeks ago from Lancome Tient Idole, which I also loved, but was dissapointed in the longevity of the foundation. Double Wear does last all day long, and also has a nice matte finish. If you have dry skin it may be too matte for you, but for all of you ladies with oily/combo skin types, want medium-full coverage, and are acne prone..check this out!
Oh ya, I only gave it 4 lipsticks because the packaging could be better.. there is no pump!

This foundation has not failed me. I'm used to foundations claiming to be transfer resistant under any and all conditions, only to find that they don't work for me. I sweat at the drop of a hat, particularly in this extremely humid and warm climate. This foundation hasn't budged on me in the least, I am extremely pleased! I am still not too sure about its feel on my skin, however. I get the sensation of the foundation "holding" on to my skin. It does have a tendency to make my combination skin feel dry on my forehead, even after I've removed it, and find that I have to take care to concentrate my moisturizer in that area afterwards. Do take advantage of a free sample before biting. ETA: after putting this formula, and Double Wear LIGHT to the test over a series of days, I still really like the regular Double Wear but have decided that the Light version works better for me.

This has been my favourite foundation for a few years now. It is full coverage so if you have good skin I wouldn't recommend it (unless you're going for that particular look). I have awful skin - very uneven skin tone, spots, old acne scars etc - so I need as much coverage as I can get. I have tried so many foundations and this is by far the best I have tried. It blends easily and looks amazing in photographs - my skin looks flawless! People always comment on my skin when I'm wearing this foundation and are shocked when I say that I have bad skin and that it's all Estee Lauder's work. If you are very pale then the shade Shell will be perfect for you (it is lighter than MAC) but I seemed to have caught the sun over the past year and that is too light for me, so now I use shade Ecru which is still pale but not as white as Shell. I keep trying other foundations "just in case" they are better and they never are. Definitely recommended (oh - and I also recommend Double Wear Light too for when my skin isn't so bad - still good coverage but less 'full on' than regular DW).

Okay, my original review of this makeup was that it was absolutely horrible. Period. When I went to the restroom at Wal-Mart with this stuff on, I looked in the mirror only to be terrified. My pores looked like craters and fine lines I didn't even know I had were showing. I almost cried. I immediately set my cart aside and went home. But weeks later, I was determined to make it work since it works so well for others. First of all, I'm convinced if you want full coverage (aka you don't sheer this out), you need the EXACT shade of your skin color or it will end up looking like a mask. You can't get away with even the slightest shade difference. I need to, need to always moisturize (then wait 5 minutes) and use a primer beforehand. I find that the best way to apply this for me is with a damp cosmetic sponge; the ones that expand when ran under water. I need to apply a very thin layer at a time. Then I set it with a powder. But no matter what, Revlon Colorstay out beats this anytime.
