A very fresh-smelling floriental-type, very light and crisp and vaguely cologne-like at first sniff, with a nice, warm, slightly woodsy/spicy dry-down. In terms of the dry down, you don't really smell anything unless you put your nose right up to where you've applied it. I pick up a fair amount of citrus and patchouli, enough that it smells like a lighter, crisper version of Prada edp on me.
Very non-offensive. Unlike most of Chanel's other fragrances, this one doesn't nauseate me at all, or make me worry that I'm nauseating someone else. It's a nice alternative for warmer weather. However, the staying power is a bit iffy at best. It faded from my wrists after three or four hours, but I got faint whiffs of it coming from my "decolletage" (put that quote marks because that's the location where I dab perfume, but I don't exactly have anything substantial enough to warrant an unironic use of the term) throughout the day. It faded away completely after about five hours. I'll keep trying out my sample. It might be worth investing in a full bottle if I stay positive about this one.
For reference, some other fragrances I dig: Philosophy Amazing Grace; Jo Malone Black Vetyver Cafe; Des Filles a la Vanille Toi...Mon Ange; Ava Luxe Turkish Vanilla; I Profumi di Firenzi Ambre del Nepal; Fresh Sugar Blossom.

Nice summery scent. Citrus, lemons and a touch of soft floral. Lightweight and cool. Much better than the original Chance.

Thank goodness this is not yet another pineapple drenched scent. I'm a big lover of fruity florals and I was very pleased to discover this original take on the theme with an upfront strong scent of lime, which is a note more commonly found in masculine scents. If you simply spray this fragrance on a tester strip and take a quick sniff, you may mistake this for an aftershave, but that impression in far from complete. On the skin, the lime begins to fade back until the drydown is complete an hour or two later where it merges with the other scents. None of the scents are distinct, but the impression is a creamy, soft floral, with fruit that is bit sweet but still mostly tart and a dab of wood in the background anchoring the scent. I don't get the chypre that other reviews have mentioned - this is worlds away from the the heavy classic chypres like the origianl Miss Dior and Este Lauder's Knowing. Actually the scent reminds me most of Incanto Charms. The scent lasts very well (about 6 hours)- I'm fine with it as an EDT, and I have the kind of skin where most scents meet a quick death. It is dry and hot as I write this (over 90!) and this is very refershing. I think this will be one of my most worn summer scents. I hope that this scent proves popular and Channel makes a lotion to go along with it. For reference other crisp fruity florals I like: Stella Sheer, Incanto Charms, Incanto Dreams, and Pleasures Exotic.

Omg, this version of the original is GORGEOUS! I'm not good at describing scents but this is a lighter version of the original with sweeter and fresh notes for spring/summer. The drydown is best. Very fresh and pretty. This is a pretty scent. Imo, decribes a very feminine woman. Lovely.

A few months ago I bought Coco Mademoiselle. I'm in love with it ever since. I like this kind of "heavier" fragrances. However, with summer on its way I wanted a "lighter" fragrance. Not easy, since I don't particulary like fresh perfumes, the don't seem to work with my body chemistry.
When I told the lady in the shop I adored Coco Mademoiselle she recommended me tot give the new Chance a try. I wasn't very excited (I absolutely dislike original Chance!), but decided to give it a try... and I was amazed. With Chance eau fraiche Chanel definitely has a light and fresh fragrance on the market. It's fresh yet still has the typical Chanel accents.
I would say: If you like Chanel, go and try this one!!
Liked it over then, am tired of it now. I guess it has te do with the fact that it is a lighter fragrance, and that just seems to be so not for me... Will finish my bottle, but not by it again...

I hate the original but this is nice. Nothing too groundbreaking, just a slightly peppery floral for summer. Probably won't splurge on it but will use up my decant.

I was very curious when I saw this out - a summer 'Chance' may have been just perfect for sticky summer days when the original is wonderful for balmy summer nights. However, 'Chance Eau Fraiche' is just exactly like any other new summer scent released recently. The original, luminous 'Chance' just glimmers at the base, but is completely smothered in layers of disgusting, sickly green fruits and alcohol-y scents. Oh, Jacques Polge, what have you done?

I am not the fan of original Chance but was curious to smell this. Honestly, I have expected something much more fresh. On my skin this one is "mild", very "tea-like"...yes, maybe even a bit "herbaceus" like someone said in a review, with the slightest chypre touch. Not very fresh, not exactly "summery" as I expected. There are jasmine and patchouli notes in it, and usually I don't get well with jasmine notes. It is something in the "middle" for me between fresh-cool/summer scents and warm/fall&winter scents. Relatively good but nothing special, or...hmmm, maybe to say: relatively decent but quite common. I have a sample at home, I was wearing it once and that was enough for me. Have not wish to wear it again. I would not buy.

This smells nothing like the original Chance fragrance (which I do not like). Chance Eau Fraiche is a sparkling lemony-limey-sporty scent. It is a very bubbly, fresh scent. Very watery and crisp in a lemon-lime way. Because of it's crisp quality it borders on masculine, but I think what keeps it solidly on the feminine side is the soft floral undertone and the sweetness. Men's cologne is typically crisp in a dry, woody/earthy way, whereas Chance Eau Fraiche is crisp in a sweet lemon-lime bubbly 7-Up on ice in the summertime way. The initial spritz is a bit sharp, but within about 15 minutes it dries down to a sweet, watery, bubbly, sparkling scent. It morphs into a scent which brings to mind a tall cold glass of 7-Up on ice, on a hot summer day. It's exceptionally cool and refreshing. Would be a wonderful pick-me-up summertime fragrance. 5 lippies :)

I haven't bought this yet but am seriously thinking about it. When the SA told me this was coming out a few weeks ago, I wasn't all that excited because I think the regular Chance is so so. This new version is quite nice, especially for a spring fragrance and lasted on my hand for about 5-6 hours. I'm not good at identifying scents but it has a nice fresh spring smell. In my opinion, the HG Chanel fragrance will always be Coco Mademoiselle (I can wear that any time any place), but this is definitely one of the nicer new fragrances out there and worth considering. I only wish it came is as a smaller size since I don't think this would fare that well as a winter fragrance. I am tempted to wait to see how it sells. Perhaps if is is a hit Chanel will make a variety of sizes as weill as lotion and shower gel. But I do like this, so I will probably break down and get it :)

I was not impressed by Chance Eau Fraiche. I was so excited to try it because I love Chance, but I was disappointed because it seemed so common. It smelled to me like SOOO many other fragrances out there, and not at all original. I'll stick with wonderful Chance.

I really like this fragrance!!! I kept spraying this on everytime I went to the mall and just loved how it smelled. I got a sample and couldn't stop wearing it. I finally caved and bought a bottle. This is such a nice spring scent and it lasts pretty well on my skin. It is fresher than the original Chance. I prefer this over the original only because I get too much patchouli from the original. Some have said this smells masculine, I don't think so. There is nothing masculine about it on my skin. My 3 year old DD hugged me yesterday and said "mommy that is my favorite smell ever" :) This one is a keeper for me.

This scent is amazing. It is clean, fresh and classy at the same time! I agree with some of the reviewers below on how masculine this smells. I've always liked men's cologne and how refreshing some of them smelled so this one suits me just fine! I didn't realize this was a new one, but I was at Sephora today and I just had to have it. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist the whole day :). The scent lasts a long time on your skin, which is a huge plus! Price is a little steep, but it's extremely worth it. One of the best fragrances I've ever smelled and that is saying a lot since I'm so picky with perfumes. I can't wait to wear this one tomorrow!

I bought this recently after trying a sample and not being able to stop sniffing the little sample card! Coco Mlle is my signature scent. I loved Chance Eau Fraiche as it reminded me of a "greener" version of Mlle.
Those that like the floral aspects of the original Chance may not like the Eau Fraiche version, because it is a lot more masculine. Upon first spray, it smells a bit like aftershave, but then warms into a classic warm floral, more like the original Chance.
I love the packaging of this and would definately re-purchase. (Hopefully they bring out the twist and spray for this!)

I already own Chanel Chance so I was attracted to this smell when I saw this beautiful light green liquid in the same bottle that Chance comes in. Chance is a lot more elegant I find than the Eau Fraiche. This scent is perfect for spring/summer. When I first sprayed it on I noticed it smelled similar to D&G Light Blue, but then a smell similar to Chance but a lot more lighter and fresh started to emerge. I smell more lemon in this and not as much floral as Chance.
I appreciate this smell more than Chance because I think this is more appropriate for day wear; Chance is more for evening wear. This scent is somewhat more younger smelling but not so much so that 13 year olds will be wearing it. It is more understated but doesn't smell cheap or like all the other perfumes out there. Fresh, yet elegant enough without coming off snobby is how I would describe this smell. The staying power is average; I can barely smell a trace of this on me after 8 hours, but it did last most of this morning on me.
So far I will give this a 4 because it's not my favorite fragrance I own but it's definetly a new scent I will be wearing for spring/summer.

By chance (haha) I was purchasing some liquid eyeshadow at the Chanel counter (love those, too by the way!) and was given a sample of Chanel's upcoming fragrance, Chanel Eau Fraiche. WOW! I immediately LOVED it! The timing is great (March) because this is a wonderful spring/summer scent. It is truly 'fresh' and light. I knew I had to get a bottle so when Macy's got it in I went the next day (3/20 - yeah, I liked it that much!) Of the 12 bottles the Chanel counter got the previous evening, only 6 were left! I'm glad I got mine when I did ($75 - although I see this fragrance is available online now, too). I'll say right now that perfumes are so personal that I know it won't agree with every single woman, but for me, I'm definitely planning on making this 'my' scent for the next 5 months! Another AMAZING fragrance by Chanel.
From the 'Now Smell This' blog: "The scent was developed by Chanel's house perfumer, Jacques Polge, and the notes include citron, water hyacinth, jasmine absolute, white musk, vetiver, amber patchouli and teak wood."
From Chanel.com: "CHANCE EAU FRAÎCHE, the newest incarnation of the unexpected fragrance, now takes on a sparkling freshness. The unexpected floral bursts with a lightness and zest as notes of citrus, Water Hyacinth and Jasmine Absolute are highlighted and energized with woody notes of Amber of Patchouli and Fresh Vetiver."
Currently, the scent is only available in an Eau de Toilette spray (can be sprayed more liberally and all over the body) and only in a 3.4 oz size. The Chanel rep. told me this is most likely to see how well the scent is received and then Chanel might develop more products (ie: Eau de Parfume, body wash, lotion, etc.) I hope so! If others enjoy this scent as much as I do, perhaps they're not far behind!
