i bought first 2 187 brushes and then i discovered 188: it's so much better to apply your blushcreme on a small area. gives yuo more control and perfect blending. brilliant

I agree with pretty much what everyone else has already said. Even if you own the 187, you should try this brush. I thought it might have been redundant to have both the 187 and the 188. And I thought that it might be too similiar to the Flirt skunk brush. It's as dense as the 187 but smaller. It's great for applying blush just where you want it to go. Great control and makes for easy to blend blush. I also really like this for cream blushes as well. This is my new favorite blush brush, and the 187 is now for bronzer, loose powder, and buffing. Try it out.

I love it!! I have three 187's (one for foundation, one for blush, one as a finisher) so I was on the fence about this--did I really need it??? Well, yes, I really did (and do) !! I agree with the previous reviewer, it was a lot smaller (brush head) than I had anticipated but that's why I need it...works great in the tiny areas around my nose and near my eyes. I've used it for application of dark shadows (perfect for an all-over wash of a pigmented shade) and I also love it for concealing...I need a couple more !!

I have to say at first i thought this was alot smaller then expected,i knew it was a smaller version of my 187 however i didnt know it was this small! (the actual brush, not the handle)
once i used it i realized it was love!
it gives me control over how and where i want my blush to show/be,and i love it!
i can now say that i need both my 188/187 and not feel guilty for having two of the same type of brush, because they truly do serve diffrent purposes!

At first, this brush and I stared at each other, trying to figure each other out. I also have the 187 and absolutely loved it for both foundation and blush application. My first attempts at using the 188 were a little awkward because it didn't cover as much surface area as the 187, but after a few adjusted flicks of my wrist, I realized that that was actually the beauty of this brush. It gives me maximum control and allows me to place blush just where I want it. It has the same duo-fiber design as the 187 so it picks up the perfect amount of pigment and I'm able to buff the blush onto my cheeks to give any blush color that "airbrushed" appearance. I now reserve my 187 for foundation only. Thumbs up!

I finally found THE HG blush brush for me! It might sound weird because everyone use a skunk brush to make the blush look less pigmented, but I use it to make my blushes look more pigmented! Yay it makes all my blushes look so pigmented and well blended like the blushes I see in the pages of beauty magazines. I don't have the 187 brush to compare it but I have the feeling that are different, I believe that the 188 is better for blush because it's a lot smaller and I can control the application of the blush and apply it exactly at the spot I want which are the apples. And I believe that's how it makes it different than other skunk brushes and how it make my blushes look more pigmented, because it's small and big and fluffy, it controls the color at one spot and then you can blend it. It's also perfect for the Mac MSFs (Mineralise Skinfinishes), because I apply the highlighter exactly on the apples and the shimmers are not all over my face.

I've fallen in love with my 188! This is so great for applying foundation. Really blends in foundation and powder too. I still love and recommend the 190 for foundation, especially for creme foundations like Studio Tech. But the 188 is absolutely best for liquid, imo. I think it's worth the price - I feel that way about anything and everything MAC! :P

i have the 187 and the 188 i do love the brushes but i did buy the 188 for my foundation.

I dont think i really like this for foundation though. I like my 191 better it doesn't absorb as much product and it seems to get into areas by my nose that the 188 has trouble reaching.

I am glad i bought this cus i do love the brush. it's great for powder and cheek products but i don't think i will continue to use it for my foundation.

I like it. I use it for my darker MSF's (Metal Rock, So Ceylon)and NARS Laguna.. and it gives the same, airbrushed effect that the 187 gives with foundation, only it's more convienent for bronzer since its smaller and I can apply it without it covering my entire face. I would buy again.

I already have TWO (yes TWO!) of the 187 and I bought the 188 specifically for blush application. It's great! I use the 187 for bronzers, mineral foundation, liquid/cream foundations, highlighters and the 188 for blush. It is the perfect size for the cheeks.

Please do not compare the 188 to the Flirt brush. That's like comparing a BWM to a Kia. Basically the 188 is the smaller version of the 187. The head looks very small but it's actually the perfect size for applying blush. I use the 188 for blush/contour and the 187 for bronzer, powder and blending. They make a great combo.

The only negative thing about the 188 is the price. I would not pay retail for it. Luckily I got mine on ebay for about half of retail. Lucky me! It's the best blush brush MAC makes, better than the 168, especially for paler girls like me who can't wear too much blush without looking like a clown.

After purchasing 187 for the application of MMU and fallin in love, I knew I had to have 188 for mineral blush. Once again I am thrilled. This brush picks up and deposits the color flawlessly to my cheeks. My Alima blush was already wonderful on it's own but it's amazing how the right tool can create perfection! UPDATE: This brush is too small. I replaced it with another 187.

Sorry to spoil the party but I compared this to my Flirt skunk brushes ($6) and not only are Flirt's a little bit bigger, but they are nearly as soft and easy to use for pigmented blushes as this, and I found that MAC's is just too small for blush application. This brush is so tiny! It's a pricey little brush and if you have money to burn, go for it, but I really don't see much difference between the $34 and the $6 version, except that the $6 version is better. Go figure.

EDIT: I LOVE THIS BRUSH. It's small but perfect for precise blush application. I was an idiot.

I didn't know what I was buying when the SA sold me on it along with the mist blush. I couldn't imagine using my fingers for the spray blush. I am also a newbie when it comes to applying blush. This is perfect application. like other reviewers have said, swirl on the apples of your cheeks. It's so easy a great! I'm so glad I bought it. It's a brush you've never seen before but after you've used it you'll wonder why no one made this brush before. I use it for my cream blushes, it works so much better than my fingers!

I love this brush and hope MAC make it permanent. I use it to swirl on cream blush on the apples of my cheeks and also for cream bronzer. I've use other cream blush brushes, such as MAC's #192 and Laura Mercier's one, but this is the best. Choose your blush colour well and you'll ge the most beautiful cheek colour and application whether that's a bright pop of colour or subtle glow.

I use this by swiping the tips of the brush over the product to pick up colour and then swirling the brush on the apples of my cheeks or along my cheek bones (depending on what i'm applying). Even strong colours go on seamlessly without any edges. If colour seems strong just keep swirling gently over the colour and the shade will blend in. I think I'll pick up a back-up whilst I can!

this brush is great if you are a dummy when it comes to blush like i am. it is very soft and easy to use. the small size of the brush gives great control so you just get the apples of the cheeks and not a big splotch on the face, like i normally get with other blush brushes. i love it and will repurchase when this one needs to be replaced. but i don't really like the cost!

A very nice brush for precise application of blush. I apply using a circular motion and my cheeks have a natural looking flush. My local store is almost sold out already.

Kinda expensive but this is a dream brush to swirl blush onto the cheeks, blush goes on light-as-air giving a glow from within look. Prefer this to the #129 which picks up too much colour for me.

Much better than the #187 brush too for getting foundation to the hard to reach areas like the sides of nose.

Awesome brush! I love it! Works just like the MAC 187 brush. Feels just like it, applies blushes (powder, cream, and the new MAC Studio Mist blushes) in the same flawless natural looking way but with more precision. Since it has a smaller head, you have better control. Perfect for contouring.

I was afraid that because the head is smaller than the 187, I'll end up with a small streak of blush on my face. But surprisingly, my blush came out natural looking.

With the 187 brush I apply blushes in one sweep. With the 188, I use small strokes which I think is good because I can apply color just where I want it.

I like this brush for Studio Mist foundation and for cream blush. The size of the head is smaller than the 187 so it helps with getting a more precise application. I purchased 3 days ago and have used it 3x... it seems to shed a bit more than I like and if it doesn't stop, I'll exchange it. I like the brush itself a lot though I think it's quite pricey.
