Does anyone think this fragrance smells just like sugar? I could almost detect a sugar cookie. I let it dry. Not for me. I tried.

I ordered two sample vials online: one for a swapping friend, and another, for myself, out of curiosity. Now, I don't wear perfume, usually, and this blew me away. It is sweet, but not sticky-sickly so. As it is an oil, it doesn't burn the nose like alcohol-based fragrance. The floral is not too floral, the incense not too vanilla or woody. Incredibly well-rounded, no bitter sting in the top, no disappointment in the eventual mellowing on the skin. I detect no musk in this scent--it seems to be as advertised--gardenia,
muguet, and nag champa. I think one could skillfully mix this from oils already available and save the pricetag. I could be wrong, though. It does not smell like artificial fragrance oil, and for the price, it better not be. Really, Monyette deserves the hype.

When I first tried this (in the roll-on bottle) I thought "ho hum, another floral scent." I'm not a big fan of florals, but I thought I SHOULD have at least one in my fragrance wardrobe.

As it developed, however, it became less of a straight floral, and seemed to pick up a little character. Since I live in Florida, I like beachy type fragrances, in THEORY, but I find the ones that are ozonic fragrances to be simply unbearable to wear. This seems like a summery/beachy fragrance that fits me better than the more traditional ones. I still like Jil Sander's SUN, but this one seems more wearable off the beach.

Update: I still lvoe this, but I'm having to save it for when I'm totally alone, because my daughter told me it "stunk" and my boyfriend said it smelled like his grandma's closet.

I think I would buy it again. I may be a little hasty in writing a review, since I just applied it for the first time about an hour ago. It's not exactly what I was expecting after reading these reviews (these reviews are what prompted me to purchase 2 sample vials). It is very nice, but a little too tropical for me. I keep looking for something that truly smells like the Jersey beach (I know, why on earth would I want that? But I love the true seashore aroma.). A little too floral for me, but still very nice. Wish there was a little more Nag Champa because I can never get too much of that.

I LOVE this scent. It is a creamy, buttery gardenia/nag champa blend. It starts out strong but is perfect about 10 minutes later. It lasts ALL day too! The best word to describe it is smooth. It is floral but has enough of "other" smells combined to eliminate sharpness or headache inducing qualities like many florals have. I do not think it is "tropical". I would wear it year round. It would be a nice pick me up "reminder of summer" scent in the winter. The only negative is that it is too expensive. The price is too high but the scent is as nice as all the hype claims it to be.

I really, really wanted to like this. After reading the reviews today, I made up an excuse to leave work early and dashed to Bendel's to get it. And I can't stand it, much to my disappointment. On me, it smells exactly like Kusco-Murphy Beach Hair, a product I threw out because I couldnt' stand the smell! I only smell a kind of rancid suntan oil scent - I'm not getting the nag champa or any of the other interesting notes so I guess it's not right for my body chemistry. A woman at Bendel's was nearby when I got to the counter though and she fell in love with it and bought it on the spot though!

Monyette is amazing. On me, it runs the range from gardenia, to warm buttered toast, to coffee, to cinnamon and then back to gardenia. It's the most lush, creamy, dense, wonderful scent I've ever experienced. Now, if only it weren't so hard to get and so expensive! It's quite definitely my current HG.

I bought this based on the raves on productville and the fragrance board. It is a ravishing mixture of lush tropical florals with a creamy coconut/vanilla/suntan lotion scent. The notes are tahitian gardenia, french muguet du bois, and nag champa. It has superb staying power that is subtle and not overwhelming. It comes in a beautiful unique hand painted bottle. My bottle has blue and pink flowers with a pair of birds nestling in a huge peony. It has a tiny cork stopper and comes in a fabric box for storage. It is a lovely addition to any perfume bottle collection.

Deliciously creamy and unique Monyette Paris is simply gorgeous. It is the only creamy floral I've ever smelt and as such is quite unique. Unfortunately I wore it in very hot weather a few times and all with a hangover, so my nose kind of turned and now all i can smell is the oiliness of it. (To some this is a bonus). It's not for me, but I still appreciate its lovliness.

Monyette Paris is what I hoped it would be. I was expecting it to be like Child and hoping it would not be. What a lovely fragrance. I was forced to purchase the 1/8 roll on because they have been out of the larger sizes forever.
Notes of gardenia, lily of the valley and nag champa & incense. The gardenia does not smell like a real gardenia to me, but it is not the headache inducing gardenia one might expect from an oil. I never smell any of the incense so it must be in a very minute quantity as a fixative. I really do not like lily of the valley and I wish it had a little less of it. The lily tends to increase the longer I have it on and this one really lasts a long time. I think this may have been even better had they used casablanca lily (a more tropical smelling lily) instead of lily of the valley. Monyette last all day and into the evening on me.
It is a wonderful tropical scent that reminds me of Key West on a warm, summer night. A mixture of suntan lotions, beach, and tropical flowers in bloom.
It just takes a tiny bit, don't over apply this one or it is overwhelmingly sweet. I do not like the roll on bottle. It's generic looking. However the pictures of the larger sizes look really pretty. When they get those back in I probably will get one.
I do think it is a bit overpriced simply because it does not contain especially expensive fragrance notes but it does just take a minute amount and the stayiing power is fabulous. I can't say whether the oil changes as time passes as do some of Annick Goutal fragrances as I have not had it long enough.
I gave this 4 lipsticks for one reason. Even though it is a lovely fragrance, it is not earth shattering in originality and that is one thing I always look for. I love to find fragrances that smell so unique that one would never confuse them with another. To me, that is truly one of the marks of a great fragrance.

I initally loved the creamy, suntan lotion-like scent of this fragrance. However, it soon developed a sharp, almost metallic note on my skin, which was no doubt the muguet de bois. Then an hour after application--poof! It was gone!

Ack! I can't believe I'm absolutely ADORING a gardenia scent! I can't stand cloying gardenia, and Monyette is anything BUT. Right out of the bottle, the gardenia is there like a 500 pound gorilla in your nose, but it *quickly* becomes tempered by a vanilla/creamy note (a verrrry mild nag champa, I'm guessing), and the lily (muguet) becomes VERY prominent and remains so, almost overtaking the gardenia on my skin. Monyette evolves into a creamy, semi-tropical, buttery floral scent that is just plain gorgeous. I love nag champa, but its heavy and rich incense smell is not evident here at all--that was sort of surprising to me (HOW do you hide nag champa?!?)--the nag must be what ties this all together without being obvious. Lasting power is all day. My husband says it reminds him of the smells of summer from the tourist city he grew up in (Ocean City, MD); suntain oils with different scents, all warmed by the sun and exuding and a little sweetness from the sweet treats avail. on the Boardwalk. Wonderful stuff, I've never been big on summer scents until this one. This is a mucho hyped fragrance that, for me, goes well beyond its hype...pleasantly surprising! If you sample it, DO give it a few minutes to warm on your skin and exude its real character. I put it on, thought YAWN, and literally 10 minutes later that creamy and sweet whatever-it-is started wafting up from my wrist and I wanted to chop my arm off and marry it.

Starts with a big burst of gardenia which dries down into a sweet, light musky, incense-like smell. My husband likes it, as does the woman I work with who hates perfume. Makes me feel like I should be lolling around dewily on thick satin cushions with too much kohl on my eyes. Maybe I should be...

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! Oh, this is great stuff! The Nag Champa in this is beautifully mellow and balances the green sweetness of the gardenia perfectly. Very sexy and lasts forever (I can get about 12 hours out of it). Definitely one of those fragrances you can wear across season. I share victoriaf's concern regarding the cork stopper and its ability to maintain the fragrance's integrity, especially since it is an oil. Still, I'm going to buy the biggest bottle I can get! I'm thinking I may decant it into an amber glass essential oil bottle and display that lovely bottle on my vanity! A new staple for me!

This is a gorgeous, lush, exotic type of scent in a long lasting oil. It reminds me lounging in a hammock surrounded by creamy white gardenias in full bloom with a hint of coconuts and vanilla smoldering in the hot tropical sun.

I'm blown away! THIS is what south Georgia in August smells like! Hot, sultry, sweet, tropical -- this smells exactly like a gardenia bush to me. Not an alcohol-blended high-fashion cocktail of gardenia, but real living gardenia hot in the sun, its thick velvety white petals drooping and browning, its center buzzing with bees and oozing nectar. I'm swooning! (Thank you, Pressman, for the introduction. Little did I know when I saw the innocuous-looking beribboned sample vial that it would open onto a summer paradise. I expected Paris in the spring!)

I purchased a sample of this from Luckyscent.com and it was love at first sniff! I purchased a bottle right away, and have to agree with the other reviewers, it is truly a very long lasting perfume oil. Gardenia is one of my favorite floral scents and this one did not disappoint me. Sexy and voluptuous are two adjectives that come to mind when I think of this scent. I highly recommend it to gardenia lovers as well as lovers of white flowers in general. Definitely worth sampling. And the hand painted bottle is gorgeous!

Yum! Goodness, I couldn't stop smelling myself when I was wearing this! I must have looked very strange (not to mention narcissistic) to passers-by when I was testing this one!

By the way, I don't think of this as "big night out" sexy, as Luckyscent does, probably because I can see myself wearing this all the time (during the day). It totally goes with the weather in Los Angeles, because it is a "warm" rather than "cool" fragrance. However, I totally get the "reel him in" part of the marketing copy. This isn't bold enough in my mind to be a "big night out" type of scent, however, when you want him close, this is IT! Ignore this point if you're in the tropics, then it is indeed big night out sexy...

I got this in the roll on for $40, which isn't hand-painted, and which won't spill everywhere. But I can see myself going back for a bigger bottle. This is one of the most amazing fragrances I've ever tried!

By the way, DSH has a Monyette-type scent called Bonnie, I have it on order and will report on the similarities/differences once I get my samples. Conclusion: Get Monyette, Bonnie is not a substitute (see more in my review of Bonnie.)
