True to its name, this duo is highly pigmented. The blue color is nice, can be applied light or intense. The brown is okay - nothing special, I like it applied light. When used together, I don't really like how it looks like on me. The colors don't really blend well together. But it has good staying power. Got this on eBay cheap, maybe I'd buy another one in other colors.

Very nice. I must've bought like a thousand royal blue eyeshadows before I stumbled upon this. It is a very vibrant royal blue and the taupe side is a very nice nude color that looks great on my skin. Not much I can say, but its a winner. Thumbs up.
I would rave more but I had actually bought Milani's Blue My mind baked eyeshadow beofre I decided to buy this. And that's the most vibrant, peacocky-blue eyeshadow ever. This is a pretty good runner-up tho! :) NW45.

The blue in this duo is FIERCE!!!! The matte light brown color doesn't work for me, which is why I give it 4 lippies. I wear the royal blue alone and get tons of compliments. It's a rich vibrant color and wears well throughout the day with primer potion.

I'm so surprised by this product. I at first bought it for the dark blue eyeshadow, but ended up loving the taupe color more. The taupe color, since its a few shades darker than my skin tone, makes a wonderful crease color. I wear this color each and every time I wear eyeshadow.
The dark blue I use on the outer corner of my eyes to make them look bigger.
This duo is just great; I highly recommend the taupe color since it goes with everything. I would definitely repurchase. :)

Ok I don't know about the taupe color, really. But I have to give this 5 lippies for the blue color alone. It is the perfect true blue I have been hunting for. I haven't used my MAC Deep Truth since I have this, it's that good. I use it over a primer, and apply it wet using a MAC brush (I think 252) and it looks beautiful. I give this 5 stars for the blue alone. Edit: IDK if this product is being discontinued or what, but I saw it at Target tonight for $1.73 and grabbed up a double, since I consider it my HG blue. Get it get it get it.

The best L'Oreal HIP Duo ever! Thanks to all the fellow reviewers who mentioned using the blue wet as liner. This worked perfectly. Ends up looking somewhere between Navy and the color you see in the pan. The beige is perfect dry for contouring, as an all over lid color or for filling in brows. I actually bought this duo for both colors and will definitely be using both. On sale at CVS now for 75% off.

I bought this just for the blue color. I was really disappointed though. It's not as vibrant when I swatched it than in the pan, and you'll need a good primer to use it. It blends horribly as well - either too much or not at all. I only use the blue as a liner, applied with a wet liner brush.
The brown surprised me. It looks like a muted, dull brown, but it's actually a nice almost-golden brown. It would be good for a neutral look, or as a crease color.
I have the HiP Metallic duo in Platinum, and I was so happy with the pigmentation in that one that I expected this one to be like it.

The blue side of this duo does NOT blend well.
The brown side is a great blending color.
For the money I'm not mad, but because I don't use one of the colors I would not repurchase.

I would buy this duo again just for the BLUE color. It's matte, more lapis and egyptian blue in color. It is magnificent! I bought them at a BOGOF at Ulta.
I find it pretty simple to wear, it's a more packed shadow (like NARS), so using a brush might not be the best idea. Sponge tips are better IMO for application.
I don't use primer b/c i have extremely oily lids, so I use NYX yogurt JEP as base. The shadow adheres well to it and definitely "bright"! As long as you have shadow over the base, there's no creasing for me.
As far as the packaging goes, it's pretty horrific. I don't understand why there's so much plastic going on. I'd much rather have only the duo shadows and none of the bottom compartment with mirror and applicator. That part is basically useless. If they changed that then not only would it save a lot of space but also would be less expensive for consumers.

I love the brown shade of this duo and the blue just as well! The blue looks how it is in the pot, but my only problem is that I have to pack it on a lot on my brush and the staying power holds up for only a few hours. (3/4 hours, max) I would only buy this is if it were a BOGOF.

LOVE the blue and even the other taupe colour. I actually pack on the taupe in my inner corner and then put on a almost similar (slightly darker) colour with some shimmer ontop. Then blend the blue in the crease and outer corner. FIERCE

I think that the blue is absolutely gorgeous. It's a rich royal blue and the staying power is great. However the taupe color sucks. The combo of these shadows is dirty looking and I hate it.

Roaring is a pretty old couple of a duo. It has a taupe and a true royal blue. I was browsing though the HiP line for a few neutral shades but I kept glancing at this duo because of the blue side. Personally I don't have a pigmentation problem with either side from this duo. There are duos from HiP which I've tried that has the infamous issue of one nice colour and one worthless/difficult one but texture wise I find "Roaring" to be of the better duos I've come across.
The taupe is more of a satin finish in my opinion. It's close to matte but not quite because there is a bit of a sheen if you build on it. I don't find it chalky at all and infact it tends to apply much darker and a bit warmer than it appears. I think the common problem with the taupe side is that it might blend into darker skintones easily and not show up but for someone fairly pale as myself this is a really nice shade. The blue is a gorgeous metallic royal blue that isn't too common to come by. It can be used as a lighter royal blue watch or played up to a super funky intense blue.
I find this duo pretty easy to work with. The staying power is fine especially with a base or primer and the colour combo is unique but works very well together. You can have a more neutral look with a pop of colour to a smokey look down to something really fun.
I did a few swatches just because I wanted to show that this duo actually isn't as chalky (for me anyway). I'm a NC15/20 for reference.

The blue has a nice sheen to it and ok color payoff. The taupe is a pale matte and not at all pigmented. Not recommended.

The royal mettalic blue applied wet is incredible (not dry, dry it's useless pale blue). The taupe however is quite frankly, crap. It's terrible. Pale, not pigmented, doesn't blend well at all, no color payoff worth even trying to blend even wet from it. It doesn't blend at all. The brown half is just a waste of space. Terrible quality on that side, but nice bold good quality the dark royal blue half. so I give it a 2.5 Zero points for the brown, and 5 for the blue. Wish it came in a slimmer container though.

Apparently I am in the minority with this one, as I find this shadow duo a bit unfavourable. The colours are lovely in the pan, and I appreciate the somewhat unusual pairing of a taupey shade and something nearing royal blue (I am awesome at describing colours!), but I find the texture a bit chalky and hard to work with. I like the blue side when used wet, but this duo just isn't really doing it for me. I have to say, I'm a bit annoyed how drugstore prices seem to keep creeping ever skyward while the quality doesn't really improve. However, I do appreciate the fiddly packaging of this... hold it upside down to easily reveal a compartment containing two foam tip applicators (for all the good those do...) and a mirror.

Love the blue, it's not too dark nor too light. In my opinion, it looks JUST like Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow Adore

I'm a fan of these shadows, and I'm happy to see some that aren't so shimmery. This one is a taupy brown and a vivid medium blue. I like how there's a mirror and applicator on the flip side. I got two for $6.99 at Walgreens.
