Almay's products are underrated. I used to use this mascara in high school back in 2007 and 2008 and put it aside. I recently purchased this mascara again to give it a shot and it reminded me why I loved this mascara so much!! I do use two coats of the mascara on both top and bottom lashes for best results. Sometimes I'll even use another drugstore volumizing mascara as my first coat and then use this mascara as my second coat for the finishing touch.

I love this mascara!! My mom had it first a long time ago and I borrowed it and have basically used it everyday, ever since. I've heard that some people have issues with the shape of the brush but I don't have a problem with it. My lashes aren't really an issue for me either though. they don't require curling and are average density and length. I think the product does do what it says: One coat, Triple affect. When I'm really in a rush getting ready, I can get away with doing one coat on each eye and it looks great. The formula is thicker and drier and very pigmented so it really adds a lot of thickness and volume very quickly. I like my lashes to be very dramatic so I usually do 2-3 coats, especially for evening wear. During my work day, I do get some smudging under my eyes, but I'm starting to think that that is unavoidable no matter what I use bc I've tried other mascaras and waterproof formulas and nothing has helped. (I'm a hairdresser and I'm shampooing and blow drying hair all day and the steam and heat seem to melt whatever I use! I never had an issue with this until I started doing hair.) I love Almay because I have sensitive skin and allergies to certain ingredients in beauty products and I know that they are an affordable, high quality product and this mascara doesn't disappoint!

I love this mascara! I wear contacts and this hypoallergenic formula is sensitive to my eyes and doesn't flake off into my contacts mid-day. I own this mascara in EVERY color. lol. I have ventured into trying other mascaras, cheap and expensive, and I always come back to this one. It makes my lashes long, full, and dark. It does dry out in the tube quicker than other mascaras, but honestly, mascara should be replaced monthly anyway to keep bacteria growth down.
Cons- doesn't come off easily (nice raccoon eyes after a shower)
Pros- nourishes my lashes and makes them look healthy and bold

This is the absolute go to mascara if you have sensitive eyes, wear contacts or both! I struggled for years to find a mascara which wasn't irritating and contact lens safe yet still gave volume and length. This mascara does it all!! Its gentle, removes very easily and can be layered easily to build from a natural to a more dramatic look. When I wear it I often have people ask me if I'm wearing false lashes!

The mascara has worked well on my lashes. It is definitely not "one coat" you do need to build it up. But it provides nice volume and doesn't clump. I haven't noticed any flaking either. I feel like the tube does begin to dry out a bit quicker than other mascaras that I use.

I was always curious about Almay, you never hear or see much about them.
I'm really glad I purchase this mascara, the brush is a bit odd and reminds me of a toothbrush. It has slightly stubby bristles on one side and the other side has slightly longer bristles. The formula is creamy and drier than traditional mascaras such as loreal voluminous which allows it to hold a curl effectively. This is fanstastic for people who need a a fair amount of volume and length and can hold a curl. I used to use ONLY waterproof mascaras because of the waxy formula was the only thing I could find that would keep my curl from dropping, however I noticed my lashes were starting to fall out. I have average, sparse and thin eyelashes and this mascara will be my go-to for a VERY long time.

A few years ago, I had a horrible ocular rosacea flare-up, where I looked like quasimodo for about a month. Once it was cleared up, I started wearing mascara again, and this was my first try back. I picked almay because of the hypo-allergenic properties. The brush was a bit fussy, but I got the hang out of it after a few tries. This is definitely not a "one coat" mascara, as I had to apply multiple coats to get the desired volume effect (my eyelashes are on the puny side).
However, if you are in need of a mascara for very sensitive eyes, this one will work. I used it for about two years to be safe, then moved on to other brands I prefer.

This mascara is okay. The brush has a short bristle side and a long side, it takes a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to apply it without it appearing clumpy. It is a wet formula, I have noticed that throughout the day this mascara can smudge onto my upper brow (I have long lashes that touch the top of my eyelid) which is annoying.
I like that this mascara is safe to use while wearing contacts, and that it does make my lashes appear long. I think it's got a good formula but the brush is just really unwieldy and the mascara doesn't have fantastic staying power.

I have Asian lashes and they are quite thin and sparse so I'm looking for lots of volume in a mascara. My lashes dont end up looking like spider legs after a few coats of this, and it builds quite well. The black is probably not the blackest black mascara I've seen but it does somwehat makes my lashes look full, separates my lashes well. The formula is quite dry for my liking but I guess the dry formula makes it easy to build without being clumpy... I have not experienced any flakes and it stays on pretty well through out the day, but it doesnt hold my curls quite well however and the dry texture actually makes my lashes feel slightly brittle. I like the wand as it is actually quite small, its easy to apply and gets to the corner lashes well without smudging. Removal is also a breeze I have not lost any lashes while removing this. All in all. a decent mascara but I have seen better ones...

Got this on clearance at my grocery store. Love it. Works even better then the other One Coat mascara that i was using. Makes my lashes long without making them all stiff and gooky looking. Would repurchase.

Love this mascara it actually really lengthens. And thickens your lashes plus it conditions and I think it has made my lashes grow a lot faster. I have made this my new favorite mascara that I simply cant live without!:))plus the wand is actually really cool.

The formula is great: it does not smudge on me like the One Coat Thickening. I would have thought the formulas were the exact same, but I guess not. I don't love the brush, but I tend to use the short bristled end with success. It gives me a fairly dramatic look. I am not able to remove it all with my regular cleanser, but it comes off with a bit of oil.

I love this. It makes my eyes look big and bold without looking over done. I love how almay is allergy free. This is the only brand of mascara that doesnt make my sensitive eyes water or burn. I feel like this makes my eyes look very flirty.
The only issue I've had with it is making sure to get it all off at night. I have the hardest time. I think it is a good thing and a bad thing because they last all day though the toughest weather but its not good for me sleeping in it. Make sure you have a good makeup remover with this one (I dont even have the water proof one!)

I also bought this on emilynoel83's recommendation (she gives great reviews!). I’ve had the pleasure of purchasing some of the products she reviewed and agreeing with her. However, this is not one of them. If you like long, brittle, dry and clumpy lashes, this is your go-to product.

I bought this on a recommendation I saw on YouTube because the user compared it to the Lights Camera Lashes mascara by Tarte and because I have sensitive eyes and also because Almay is a brand I can always count on not to irritate my eyes. While it did add a ton of volume and made my lashes very thick and black, it unfortunately weighed down my lashes. When I first put it on, I like the job it did as far as lengthening and thickening. Also the color pigmentation is excellent, one of the blackest blacks I've seen. But unfortunately the formula does not hold a curl and my problem child lashes ended up pointing down, weighed down by the mascara. This formula is not for me, but I can see it being a great mascara for those that don't need to curl their lashes and want volume. I so wanted this to work for me but it didn't.

I have been using this mascara for about a year and a half and I love it! I use blackest black and it is black! It doesn't flake or smudge and it stays for most of the day. I use this for daytime/work mascara. The wand at first was tricky to figure out, but I do 1-2 swipes of the short side to lengthen and then I build on top with the longer side to thicken. I find after too many coats it can start to clump, so I only do 2-4 swipes to avoid that. I did notice when I first started using it that it seemed to dry out fast, but I realized I wasn't twisting it closed tightly. Once I started consciously twisting it closed tightly I no longer had that problem.

I bought this on emilynoel83's recommendation (who I LOVE). Not liking this mascara at all unfortunately. As others mentioned, it dries out quickly but what I especially don't like is how it seems to actually weigh down my lashes. When I first put it on, it seems to do a decent job lengthening.. but after a minute, my curled lashes are pointing down, weighed down by the mascara. So far nothing has beat L'oreal Telescopic Carbon Black for me.

As other reviewers have said, this product worked well for about a week. The first couple times I used it, I was impressed by how it lengthened and volumized my lashes.
The more I used it, the clumpier it got. Not so bad to where I would stop using it because of that. What made me stop using it all together was how it BURRRNS!! Holy man! It didn't bother me the first week, but as time went on, it felt like I was pouring lemon juice in my eyes. No thanks. This was the first mascara I've ever used that's made my eyes burn so badly.
Will not buy again.
