I barely get pimples so when i do get one, i freak out. i bought this hoping it could help but it did the opposite - it made things worse and gave me more pimples.

Works wonderfully, although I am not sure about in 8 hours. I had a large pimple that I have been trying to get rid of for days and with 2 applications of this product, thank God, is now finally gone!! So far, this gel has not dried my already dry skin out, and in certain spots I use quite a bit over a large area. Finally something that actually works!! RECOMMEND!!

In my opinion, this product does help with swelling and redness even though it takes a whole lot longer than 8 hours. Sadly, though, it dries out my skin like nobodies business! Lotion usually helps when that happens so it isn't too big of a problem.

This works pretty well for the amount the price of about $8-9.It soothes the soreness of the pimple and the itching that comes with it. It does not dry out my skin and I usually combine this product with tea tree oil so my pimple can heal faster.
The only downside is if I use this product in the morning and apply make up after (especially foundations/concealers), it makes my make up all clumpy and the product peels. I only use this product at night time because of this. The product does go on clear.
Would recommend, but only as a night treatment! Still on the search for an amazing spot treatment :(

Long story short, I was very disappointed with this product.
I paid $8.00 for it at wal-mart (It is 15mL, or 0.5 FL OZ for Americans) and let's just say it was not worth my 8 bucks at all. This product states to reduce pimple redness and swelling. Well, I guess it kind of reduced swelling, but it made my pimples even MORE red, and completely dried them up. So I basically walked around with dry, red spots on my face.. lovely picture, I know. Not only did it do that, but it caused me to breakout even more. I would not recommend this product to any of my friends, and I most definitely won't be purchasing it again.

I used to have constant acne on my forehead, by my eyebrows (ack!), on my chin -- everywhere! I started getting into the habit of using a face wash, and it cleared me up. However, every one in a while I'd get one or two pimples, so I went to the store and bought this product along with Persa-gel 10. I used persa-gel more often because it had more product at that time, but now I used it because it works better. I put it on at night, and in the morning the pimples I had are basically gone. This works too, but it takes a longer time to really work. I love both products though. <3

Scary in its potency. Made me wonder for a while what exactly in it that enabled it to erase zits as thoroughly as Stalin's doctoring Trotsky out of photographs, then I chalked it up as another one of life's mysteries as I was too lazy to read the ingredients list.

After using this for a few weeks, I broke out in horrible gigantic cysts, some of which started as weird tiny bumps (never had that happen before). At first I didn't notice, because it did seem to shrink individual pimples, but I was getting more and more and more of them. So basically, as a spot treatment, it seems to make individual pimples heal quickly, but then three more pop up in their place! My skin has never looked so bad, and this is the ONLY change I've made to my regimen. Maybe my skin just doesn't like salicylic acid, I dunno, all I know is I'm left trying to fix the damage that this stuff did to my poor face!
UPDATE: It's been 2 months and I STILL have the tiny bumps on my jawline that resulted from using this.

I have mixed feelings on this spot treatment. I have very clear skin, so whenever I get that "occassional" pimple that wants to pop up out of nowhere, it's super noticeable. 2 nights ago I literally woke up with 2 pimples (almost next to each other) on the bottom of my chin. How they got there, idk. But, needless to say, I went out to look for a spot treatment. I've never used a spot treatment before, so I didn't really know what to expect. I came across this one, & since it's from Neutrogena, (a company I trust), I decided to buy this one. I was skeptical of this miraculously making my pimples look less noticeable in 8 hours tops....& I was right for being skeptical. This definitely does not make your pimples less noticeable in under 8 hours, & this definitely does not make your pimples go away completely (but I wasn't expecting that anyway). This isn't a miracle. But, I will say I put this on again before bed & in the morning they were a little less noticeable. They were pretty much still the same size, they just got less red. That was pretty much the only thing I noticed. Honestly, the old toothpaste remedy (which I'm sure you've heard of) works better for me at drying my pimples out much faster. I also want to say that I agree with another reviewer that said this is by no means a miracle product, this is more of a "better than nothing" product. I do believe this can possibly stop your pimples from becoming larger & overall worse than they already are. But, as far as making them less noticeable in 8 hours, not so much. I think this works, but it takes longer...more like 2-3 days. I love Neutrogena products, but I'm not into false advertising. No where on the box should this say "8 hours." I also want to add that I would only delicately put this on the actual pimples that you may have, not over a whole area of your face. The price of this wasn't too bad either, $7. I'm still not sure if I would buy this again since I have mixed feelings on it, so I may try something else next time. I will still use up whatever is left in the bottle I have. Overall, this didn't particularly help my pimples lessen, but it didn't make anything worse either. This wouldn't be my go-to if I had to really get rid of a pimple asap. If anything else changes, I will update.
**UPDATE:** I noticed this does stop pimples from becoming larger, or worse. It takes a few days though. Honestly, since this stopped my pimple in its tracks & didn't irritate my skin....that's good enough for me:) This still isn't a miracle product & it DOES NOT make your pimples go away overnight, BUT this is the best I've found so far. I'm changing my rating from a 3, to a 4...& I probably will purchase this again.

I've been getting a few acne bumps around my nose on my cheeks on both sides recently. This has never really happened before.. Has to be one of my worse acne experiences.. Maybe a reaction to some product? So, I looked around my house for some acne solution and found 2 tubes of these sitting around. One from a magazine, one my sister had bought. I looked up the reviews here and was skeptical about it but still decided to give it a go. The info on the tube saying it would work in 8 hours did not buy me. But I was still convinced by some reviews that said their acne magically disappeared the next day. On my first Night, I applied it and the next morning the acne weren't all gone but they kinda flattened and dried up to the condition that I could scratch it off. I tried to scratch of off but they weren't ready. So I gave this a go for two more consecutive nights and my acne gotten worser. Now I have more spreading. I stopped using it. This was supposed to work within 8 hours.. I have it 24 hours (3 days) and it made my acne bad so I am disappointed. Would not repurchase. Glad this worked for others though.

Good spot gel...I found that it works well on white heads. I put it on at night and it's gone by morning.
But unfortunately, it does nothing for my cysts.

It didn't work at all for me would not recommend it.

This is my go-to when I need to clear up a pimple FAST. Apply once every 8-12 hours, and even the scariest zit will be gone in under 2 days.
The tube is very small (0.5 oz) but if you use it sparingly it will last a very long time; about a year in my case. Expensive, but a must have for emergencies!

Hallelujah!!! I get terrible little annoying whiteheads all the time on my nose. Acne gels never work for me, so I usually just use concealer (I use desert escence spot concealer) and just leave them be. Lately they have been getting worse, so I decided to pick this up @ my local CVS. I love this stuff! It works literally over night! All of the pimples are GONE like magic! It does dry your nose out a little bit, but if that's the tiny price you have to pay for beautiful, clear skin, just dab a little lotion on after. Yay! :)
P.S. The package is a little bit on the small side, but that's ok.

Ok...longtime lurker here. I got off of birth control pills about 6 months ago. To prevent the dreaded "breakout" off the pill, I had been taking several vitamins (evening primrose, dong quai, fish oil, etc). For 6 months, my skin has been fantastic.
Until a month ago.
For whatever reason, I got the breakout from hell on my forehead. It was awful. Whiteheads everywhere that would not go away. Over the past month, I have used several products. Acne face washes, Burts Bees products, even Mupirocen (which I had handy). NOTHING WORKED.
Desperate, I went to a Walgreens on Friday. Picked up this product. Six days later and using nothing else, my skin is almost completely back to normal (I say almost because I have a few spots still a little red but healing). I am hopeful by this Friday (one week) I will be completely clear. I am about 85% clear right now, and after the past month, I'll take it.
Others have noted the drying effect of this product. I did not really have this issue. I find, in fact, this product works best after washing with nothing else on my skin (no lotion, make-up etc.). I am so very pleased with the results! Not very expensive, and really works like a charm!
***(THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE. I UNDERSTAND THIS MIGHT NOT WORK FOR OTHERS, BUT FOR ME, THIS STUFF WORKS AND IS NOTHING SHORT OF AN ACNE-KILLING MIRACLE)***

Okay this product was the final straw with me ever purchasing another product (another product that deserves zero lippies from me) from Neutrogena! Every product I have purchased from them, including this spot treatment, has made me breakout like CRAZY!!!! I liked the fact this spot treatment didn't sting when applied and it dried quickly but that does not override the breaking out factor of this product. Thankfully I now have an acne regimen that will clear my face up quickly after using this. I guess it is needless to say I will not purchase this again.

I was on the neutrogena website looking at spot treaments, and read a bunch of really good reviews on this product. I went to the store and bought some, and put it on my zits before I went to bed. When I woke up, I was very unhappy with what I saw in the mirror. My zits were bigger, inflamed, itchy and super red. At first, I thought "wow, this spot treatment sucks!" Then, I thought maybe I could be allergic to the salicylic acid. So I googled "allergy to salicylic acid" and sure enough, the symptoms were itching, irritation, stinging, dry, peeling, and redness. Everyones skin is different, so if this product made your acne worse, then you are probably just allergic to the salicylic acid in it. Instead of getting upset, try a spot treatment with benzoyl peroxide. That will be my next step as well! Gave 3 lippies because it works great for some people. Hope this helped ladies.

Didn't work at all!! Really oily and gross- SO not worth the money. I will not be buying again.

The gel didn't really clear out my skin, infact, I got even more breakouts from it! I've only used it for about a week or so, but I couldn't continue using since my skin was getting worse. I gave it to my cousin and she seems to be doing fine with it. It definately didn't work for me, although it might work for other people.
