I am so happy I discovered this product exists! It has become my BFF. First of all, I love the smell! It smells so refreshing and clean! I love how my face feels after I use this cleanser...so soft and clean. I do use a moisturizer right after so I don't know if it is too drying but I will say my face doesn't feel tight or extra dry or flaky after cleansing and before the moisturizer.

After I started using this, my face has been so clear! I get breakouts here and there, especially at the time of the month. I have maybe been using this for a month now and *knock on wood* I am clear! I have noticed that it has helped me get less oily throughout the day, which is a huge plus for me! I only use it in the mornings, so I am not sure how it is at taking makeup off, I use another makeup remover, but I am sure it does the job because it cleans down deep. So far I am loving this cleanser...I might update this review after using the cleanser and not using a moisturizer right after to see if it is too drying.

My HG of facial cleansers. I have sensitive, normal to dryish skin, and this soap-free cleanser has been the best I've tried. It never clogs me up and it's always there for the rescue whenever I stray to another cleanser/foundation that breaks me out. I use mineral oil or Clinique's Take The Day Off Balm to remove makeup & sunscreen first, then wash with Basis to remove any residue. It doesn't leave my face dry or moisturized really, just perfectly clean. I will repurchase this forever.

I picked up this product at WalMart the other day when looking for a cheap cleanser to clean off my makeup prior to using my acne face wash. I was intrigued because it claims it has no soap in it which I liked because I'd rather not use soap on my face because it is so drying. I have found that this product claims to lather, but not anywhere near a foaming face wash. I'm curious as to how much it would lather if I used it on my Clarisonic. Ultimately, it does what it is supposed to and it smells quite pleasant, therefore for the price and what I'm looking for, I'd definitely purchase it again.

I absolutely, 100% LOVE this face wash. It takes all of my make-up off and it leaves me feeling so fresh and so clean! I originally bought it because my other face wash was out of stock at Wal*Mart at the time. I had no idea what I was in for whenever I picked it up. I have never heard of it before. It was dirt cheap, probably the cheapest face wash that was there. I brought it home and tried it out. It is amazing! It was love at first wash. It has helped me a lot with my acne. It takes all of my make-up off before I go to bed, and that alone has cleared my face up a ton. The only problem I have with it, (it's not a biggie because I love it so much) it does not foam very well. I also noticed one night after use and I forgot to put on my moisturizer and I got a little bit dry in some areas. But, again, it's not that big of a deal, and it wasn't that bad of a dryness. It also smells very pleasant. For the price, it is a spectacular face wash and I've bought a couple bottles the last time I was at the shops. I'm so relieved I've found this!

I felt that this was, as implied, a basic cleanser. I use it after workouts, for taking off skin makeup, and as a pre-cleanser for my actual acne cleanser. I felt that it was fine for these purposes, if not a tad bit drying (to be fair, I don't drink enough water nor do I moisturize).
I would compare it to Cetaphil's Daily Facial Cleanser, though that is perhaps a little less drying- but I get a more clean feeling with the Basis one. Does it actually clean better? Well, I doubt it, but it has that clean feeling. My comparison also stems from the fact that neither lather whatsoever, which doesn't matter to me but I find it worth mentioning.
The consistency of the Basis cleanser is rather liquid-y, I think, and a lot of it can come out at once if you're not careful. Other than that, the price is great and the cleanser works.

EDIT:
Actually, I've found that this cleanser DOES lather! Nix my previous statement. C:

Seems like a competition brand to Simple. But this works like any basic face wash should. It smells nice too. Nothing too special about it, but it is priced very well.

EDIT: I actually will not by this product again because I've found that it makes my skin feel dry, especially around my mouth and chin.

I figured this was going to be a gentle facial cleanser but boy was I wrong. It made my skin feel dry and not very clean at the same time. Trying to get this to lather is a joke, you might get 2 or 3 bubbles if you're lucky. This also irritated my eyes and burned the inside of my nose even when I was being extra careful around those areas.

I have sensitive and dry skin. Recently I have been getting break-outs on my forehead area and I was hoping that thing product would be a good face daily face wash and reduce my break-out without drying out my skin, but I was very disappointing with this product because the reviews were very good. Although this product is very cheap and smells good, it just didn't do any good. It just made my skin get more patchy dry spots and very irritated overall. Even on the first use, it was noticeable that my skin got irritated and red so I had to put on lots of moisturizer right away.

THE PRODUCT: (3/5)

Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash is a pleasant, cooling gel that is gentle, fragrance-free, and excellent for "targeted" cleansing or "spot" cleansing, if you will. Best used in the shower, as it needs to be rinsed off to avoid over-drying. This cleanser leaves a "squeaky clean," tight feeling, so avoid this if you (like me) do not like this sensation. Otherwise, it may be worth a shot for you. I have sensitive, combination skin, with an oily, acne-prone T-zone and normal/dry cheeks. I use all of my skincare products with a light touch, and I found that this cleanser worked very well on my T-zone, but made my cheeks flake. Because of this, I isolated its use to my forehead, nose, and chin. But if it was massaged or left on for too long on my T-zone, it would even make the skin on my nose or chin flake. In any case, I saw results (a.k.a. a completely clear forehead) after a week. This product yielded good results as my first cleanser and worked very well at keeping breakouts at bay for a few months, so I put up with any inconvenience. Soon after however, my skin's rate of improvement quickly plateau-ed, and cleansing no longer appeared to make any difference anymore. I decided to move on.

THE PRICE: (5/5)

Basis is a HUGE bang for your buck, and therein lies its appeal. You can find it at $5 for 6 ounces, and the product lasted 6 months for me with daily use.

THE PACKAGING: (1/5)

Basis comes in a squeezable tube with a cap that is very cheaply made. My first month into using this cleanser, I dropped it in the shower, and the cap broke in half. About 4 months in, after several incidents of knocking it off the shelf in my shower, the cap was all but shattered, and the tube simply kept oozing out product (and yet it still lasted 6 months).

SIDE-NOTE:

The description on the package is slightly misleading as it states that it "foams away" makeup, dirt, and grime, but it is not a foaming cleanser. I do not wear makeup, so I do not know how well it works at removing makeup.

BOTTOM LINE:

I do not regret buying, but I will not buy again.

This is really great face wash for my sensitive, acne-prone skin. I had been using Cetaphil before this, and while I liked the heavier, lather-free feeling of that cleanser, it always made my face red and a little irritated for a while after washing. Basis, however, does not irritate me at all--even with the fragrance(!). It feels fresh and clean, and I can feel my pores tightening right after use. It doesn't make me have 100% perfect clear skin, but nothing ever has. It's the best face wash I've ever used, as far as I can recall.

Age: 19-24   Skin: Very Oily, Olive, Warm   Hair: Brunette, Wavy, Medium   Eyes: Green

I bought this to compare to my beloved Neutrogena Rapid Clear foaming cleanser (since that one is $7 and that's too much in my opinion to spend on a cleanser you go through quickly). This only cost me $3.97 or so vs the $6.97 I pay for the Neutrogena cleanser, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I love the Neutrogena one because it foams into a very thick, creamy lather that I've not been able to find with any other drugstore cleansers. All the other foaming cleansers, especially gel ones, foam a very small amount and don't really work up into a lather. The foaming of this one is no exception as it is a gel consistency--it does not lather, it just foams a little bit. That being said, I have a harder time using with with my Clarisonic because without that lather in between the brush head and my skin, the Clarisonic can be a bit harsh for me considering I use it 2-3 times a day. The product foams ok but does not lather much beyond sparse suds. It left my skin feeling somewhat tight after the first use, but it felt clean. I'd be scared to put this around my eyes since the packaging does say keep away from the eyes somewhere I believe. Also, the name deceives--my Neutrogena Rapid Clear Foaming Cleanser has half the ingredients of this product! I feel like I am putting excessive amounts of chemicals on my face using this product, drying it out. Ironic as it's called "basis" and has double the non-natural, chemical ingredients of the Neutrogena cleanser. I will use it up for now, but I don't see myself repurchasing.

I purchased this cleanser during the winter, and the very first time I used it, I LOVED it! It made my skin feel so clean, and it just takes all of the makeup off of your face! But, then I noticed that it was really drying on my skin, especially around my cheeks, so I stopped using it for awhile. However, I recently started using it again in the summer, when it's more humid, and it's perfect! It makes my skin feel so clean, and it makes my acne go away so fast! Love this stuff! Just make sure to use a really good moisturizer if you live in a less-humid place!

Exactly what it says it is - basic. It's a good, basic gel cleanser, which cleans my face thoroughly and not harshly. It doesn't leave my skin soft (I just use moisturizer afterward) or my pores smaller, but it also doesn't overly dry out my skin or leave it feeling too tight. I doubt I'd buy again, even though it's really inexpensive (one of the cheapest, decent cleansers out there) but, on the other hand, it'll last me a long time since I rotate it with another three or four cleansers and scrubs. No bells and whistles, but it gets the job done.

I had previously reviewed this cleanser before purchasing and the results others said they had seemed pretty promising. I normally use Clinique Liquid Facial Soap for oily skin along with the Dry Combination Clarifying Lotion (the one for oily combination was starting to dry my skin out), and the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. However, I was about to leave town and didn't have time to make a trip to Sephora. So I went to my local drugstore to find something that I hoped wouldn't break/dry me out. I saw Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash and thought I would give it a shot. After all, I was only going to have to use it for a couple of days so even if I didn't love it, it couldn't do too much damage right? WRONG. I have clear skin with the occasional breakout, so you can imagine the unpleasant surprise I had the next morning when I woke up and could feel painful breakouts along with some dry places. I figured it was just my skin adapting to the new cleanser and that it would clear up in a couple of days. However, I was sorely disappointed. The breakouts from the first day had not diminished at all and I was starting to get new ones. To make it worse, this cleanser irritated my eyes. My eye lids were red and puffy and it gave me little painful bumps along my lash line. I should've gotten the hint that it would irritate my skin from the first time I opened the bottle and smelled the glue like cleanser. I realized it had a familiar scent of chlorine. I'm not trying to be dramatic and persuade anyone not to buy this product, but I am just trying to inform others of my experience with this cleanser. I will definitely be sticking with my Clinique 3 step skin care regimine, even though it is pricey. It has worked well for me and has lasted longer than any other products I have tried. Although Basis products are so affordable, I will not be repurchasing this cleanser.

This is a pretty decent cleaner. It does a very good job removing all my makeup (foundation, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, etc.).

I've used Cetaphil and Purpose in the past and I think this is comparable to those. I like the packaging design vs. a pump. I've had problems with pump cleansers that get full of water from the shower. This package is shower friendly.

I would recommend this product to others, but for myself I probably won't be buying this again. This has something in it that sort of irritates my eyes sometimes. I don't think the product is harsh at all. I think it is just a weird sensitivity I have to certain cleansers unknown. I am like that with Bath and Body Works Shower Gels.

Overall this is a great product. If you are thinking about trying it I would recommend it. :)

i loved this at first because it really does break down the makeup, the only problem is one of the main ingredients in this product is sodium laureth sulfate which can kind of strip the skin. i noticed that it doesn't help get rid of whiteheads either, it sort of contributes to them. it's a good basic cleanser if you don't have these issues though.

I am in love with pretty much the ENTIRE Basis skin care line, its the only thing I use anymore. I use the sensitive skin bar in the morning with my clarisonic, and use this cleanser at night to remove my makeup from the day. I find that it does its job without super drying out my skin. I have super sensitive skin, and I try to use soap-free products and I have no complaints at all with this product.

I agree with Momoro...I really like this for the first couple of weeks but then I started breaking out really bad...and I NEVER break out...they are so bad, they are under the skin and it's taking a good while for them to go away! I'll stick to my Clinique foaming cleanser...it's more expensive but it doesn't make me break out!

I love this facewash. I have normal skin that is somewhat dry at times. I was so tired of having to get facewashes that were for acne or antiaging and had all kinds of crap in them that i really didnt need to get the makeup off of my face. I found this product and fell in love with it because it is simply just a face wash which is exactly what i wanted. It foams up and bubbles which i love too and gets all of my makeup off without stinging my eyes! it also smells nice. My friends all love it too but unfortunately i can not find it in any stores around me so i have to buy it online. Overall i would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a basic facewash for the simple purpose of cleaning their face at the end of the day.
