It is an ok shampoo. It is gentle, coconut scented and nicely leathering shampoo, but that's about it. I wanted my hair to look healthier and smoother, but this didn't provide any of that. It somewhat thinned out my hair and made it more tangly. But it is gentle though. And if you like coconut scent, you might like this.

I love the Amino Acid Conditioner and I really wanted to love the shampoo as well but it's just too drying for my curly hair :(
The scent is amazing though.

I got to try this at my husband's gym when I used a guest pass, and luckily the trip coincided with when it was time to wash my hair (I wash 2-3x/week). Normally I wash with a drugstore shampoo, like Herbal Essences (blue bottle) or Aussie Moist, but I dislike them because I suspect they are too stripping--my cuticles sting repeated washings. Kiehl's Amino Acid shampoo did not give my cuticles a peeling back feeling, and seemed to leave my hair clean without overstripping. The mild coconut scent was a bonus, but the extremely high price (remember, I typically use drugstore brands so this price difference is HUGE for me!) puts me off. I may buy in the future, but it's a tentative yes. I'm not one of those hair mavens on here who knows about every product, but I don't know of a cheaper DS product that might work the same way, which is a shame for me and my wallet.

I'm really enjoying the Kiehl's Amino Acid Shampoo. It has a lovely coconut scent and cleans without over-stripping my hair of its vital oils. This shampoo is definitely on the pricier end of the spectrum so be prepared for a little sticker shock. I received this product as a gift, but I would consider buying it in the future with my own money.

Hands down, this is my favorite shampoo. I've been using it for years and never tire of the scent or the way my hair looks and feels after using it. I have stopped using it and tried other shampoos, but they never come close to the results I get with the Amino Acid shampoo. I've found that if I put the shampoo on my hair and leave it while I do the rest of my showering, that after rinsing I don't need a conditioner. My hair is shiny and smooth after drying and I think the nice scent lingers all day. In the past, I had the problem of a super itchy patch at the nape of my neck after a few uses of many shampoos, but Amino Acid shampoo doesn't cause that reaction. The condition is good too, but I just don't use it as often.

I love the smell of this shampoo- it is a very mild coconut scent that unfortunately doesnt really linger that much after you get out of the shower.
This makes my hair feel very soft but thinner than my other shampoos. My hair (described by my hairdressers as thick and wavy) feels thinner and flatter when I use this shampoo and conditioner. Almost like when I tried Paul Mitchell's skinny combination.
I would say that this is a gentle shampoo and conditioner as well, not too harsh.
I will not repurchase just because I dont like the way it makes my hair feel thinner and because it is quite pricey and I have other pricy shampoos that I prefer.

Pros:
- The scent is absolutely divine -- coconut but not overly sweet. Arrgh!
- Made my hair shiny, soft and manageable.

Cons:
- $16/bottle is ridiculous -- felt I had to hide the receipt from my husband (who generally doesn't say anything about what I buy/spend)
- Activated my dormant SLS allergy to the point that I had huge, bright red peeling welts on and around both eyes. Now forced to use the aesthetically barren Free and Clear to address the flare-up.

So sad...when I got the free samples at 6 Columbus Hotel in NYC, I felt so posh and pampered. Guess I was destined to use $3/bottle shampoo after all! :-(

This was one of the toiletries at a hotel I stayed at in Paris, and it definitely does the job and leaves my hair clean but not stripped. The scent is nice and it works pretty well, but I'm not sure that it's exceptional in any way so I won't buy again.

I used a nice sample and I would definitely purchase a bottle. It's a simple shampoo that cleaned my non-colored, long, thick hair. Sometimes my hair goes through stages of being oily, but I could go two days without washing. It doesn't really lather, but it still cleans really well. It left my hair shiny and really clean. Only thing I wasn't too fond of was the scent. I can't remember what it reminds me of, but I did not et anything coconut from it which makes me disappointed. In the end, the shampoo is so good, I would repurchase regardless.

Best. Shampoo. Ever. I have been using this for years and it's still my favorite after trying many others. Do not buy it if you don't like the scent of coconut because it definitely smells strong. It reminds me of summertime and the beach. Makes my hair look healthy and shiny, enhances my natural waves. Of all of the Kiehl's products, this one is my favorite. My mother, who has always bought cheap shampoos and has never seen a need to use fancy shampoo tried this only once before being convinced that it makes her hair feel amazing! It comes in a smaller size, so you don't have to buy a big one if you're not sure you'll like it. I use it with the unscented conditioner from Kiehls, though they just came out with a new Amino Acid conditioner that I have yet to try.

I simply adore this shampoo. My children and I are using this shampoo. I thought it would make my oily scalp more oily because of the coconut oil ingredient, but it doesn't. It really works on my oily, thick strand hair. I'm planning to buy the conditioner next time.

Worse than a drugstore shampoo and three times as expensive. Made my fine hair lifeless and dull, and my roots would be greasy by the end of the day.

This shampoo made my hair so soft and shine and i no need to used conditioner anymore because this shampoo do all the tasks. Beside that, it's smell so amazing and last for days.Highly recommended especially for those who had dry and damage hair. It's gentle enough to use everyday.

Epic fail for my fine hair. Instead of leaving the hair clean, this shampoo added a layer of residue that could not be rinsed off. Very simply, it does not rinse clean. The conditioner is quite nice, and it's funny that it rinsed cleaner than the shampoo. My hair was almost matted down to my scalp after using this. Worse than average performance, for sure. I could get a better shampoo from the drugstore at a fraction of the price. So glad I only bought the small travel size. I'm going to chuck the shampoo and keep the conditioner.

Love! This is a great moisturizing shampoo that leaves my hair clean, not stripped, and makes it bouncy and full of volume. I seem to always come back to this product again and again, and am never disappointed when I do.
