This product has little 'slip', and I recommend applying either right after a serum or while the toner is still drying on the skin. It's kind of like diving onto a slip-and-slide and finding the hose has shut off and the plastic is now bringing your momentum to a halt.
Product leaves a shiny glow, so powder is needed to keep from looking oily. However, with powder in place this has a soft matte, bright appearance. Does not cause breakouts and does not irritate my skin, and this is why it gets 4 stars.

This is the nicest cream I've ever used. A friend recommended the Tourmaline charged cleanser to use as a 2x weekly scrub and I bought this at the same time, knowing that I'd need some heavy duty moisture after any scrub. It is expensive, but it is perfect for my super-dry skin and I've found that I don't need to use that much of it (compared to four plus pumps of thinner facial lotions). I especially love it under my eyes- the skin just seems to drink it up.
I'm not understanding some of the criticism about the texture, but I'm also happy using raw coconut oil or shea butter because my skin's so dry. This is far easier to use than those products.

I love la mer, but can't afford it any longer. This is what my asecthian suggested to me as a cheaper alternative. So far I really like it. But if your oily stay away. It's not for you

This is the worst moisturiser I've ever tried. I wanted to love it, because I love the smell of Aveda products but the person who said this was like the texture of cornflour in water was absolutely right. It's wet but firm and dry when you apply it. It left my skin feeling sticky and very itchy. I also tried the serum, but because I used them together I don;t know whether one was OK. I took both back. I really don't know why Aveda don't let you try a sample. It would have saved them the cost of my return. I'm not prepared to pay £30 for a bunch of samples from the same range, which is what was on offer.

I used to work for Aveda and I have to say, the Tourmaline Charged cream, (actually, the whole Tourmaline line) is definitely one of my favorites. It's MEANT for those with dry or dehydrated skin, so if you're more on the oily side, steer clear. This makes a perfect night and winter day cream. I know the texture is a bit odd/thick but there's a special way to apply it to maximize its potential: warm it up in your hands by rubbing them together so that it becomes clear and is no longer white, THEN apply it. If you apply it straight out of the jar, you'll have problems making it penetrate.
I always apply it before bed and yes, while it might feel heavy, who cares? The results are well worth it. I wake up in the morning with such glowing, dewy looking skin that I forgo any makeup. Pair this with the Tourmaline Radiance Serum and you've got yourself an A team.
The longer you use it, the better the results. I would only recommend not using it for daytime wear when it's warm/hot out. Definitely works better as night cream/cold months daytime cream for great protection.
It is a bit pricey but a little goes a long way and definitely worth it.

And, look, it's me, back again with another review of a moisturizer I didn't like! That leaves only two Aveda moisturizers without sunscreen that I haven't tried, and at this point, I give up. None of them have come even close to Green Science, for me, and this one was a particular failure.
The good:
The smell's okay. The graphic design professional in me rather likes the look of the jar.
The bad:
Thick, greasy, hard to spread.
Left me shiny.
Made my pores look all gaping and sad.
After not quite three weeks, starting causing breakouts on my cheek -- the unmistakeable sign of something my skin doesn't love.
I returned it and got my money back.

I found this cream a bit chunky (you have to try a sample to understand), it felt like there were bits of things in it when you apply it on your face. I don't have sensitive skin at all, my skin can put up with high levels of AHA and benzyl peroxide, but the tourmaline really irritated my face and my eyes stung/teared even though I didn't put any of the cream near my eyes.

Great for winter days but i just use this on the dry patches i get during the winter but its nothing special. It is thick and hard to apply, i had to use a lot more than expected. The jar is almost finished and haven't had it for a month, not worth the 34+ bucks i paid for.

This is an excellent moisturizer for dry skin, as we all know. Contains vitamins, plant derivatives, antioxidants, marine elements, and let's not forget the Tourmaline. I like to use this during winter and it gives me the moisture I need...just right! Also, that really nice glow :)

No offense....but some of you are idiots!!! This product is ment for dry skin!!! There is a reason why this is not working for people with oil and combination skin..it is thick because people with dry skin absorb moisturizers faster so this makes it long lasting. I mean really people!! If you have oily or combination skin please use Bontanical Kinectics Hyrdating Lotion... it's ment for you.. it's too light for people with dry skin...
I really like this moisturizer.. it's rivals my Yon-ka moisturizer which is twice the price... I also like how it is made with plants so I don't feel bad about the chemical's I'm putting on my face with other moisturizers. When I put this on my face it feels great and gives my face a nice glow.. and it seems to last all through the night which I found some other moisturizers can't accomplish.
The reason I gave this 4 stars is because the price might be a tad high for some people

This was a dud for me. I was using the Aveda moisturizer in the green bottle mixed with Vitamin E oil, and wanted a single step for the cold winter days. It's probably best used as a night time moisturizer, and I do like it for the winter. However, it takes too long to soak into my skin, and it requires the use of way too much product. Generally, with Aveda products, you need less than more. With this one, I use way more than I expected. When I first apply it on, it has a whitish tinge on my whole face. I also don't like how make up looks with this underneath (particularly blush). On the positive, it gets rid of dry patches, and my skin is soft and has a nice glow (after it's soaked in). However, I will probably just go back to the lighter Aveda moisturizer and jazz it up with Vitamin E oil in the winter. Wouldn't repurchase.

This moisturizer is AMAZING. Definitely HG. It is packed full of antioxidants and all natural plant oils. My skin is acne-prone (it has recently been pretty clear) and is a little dry in the winter...this moisturizer really helps with the dry patches and it gives my skin a gorgeous glow. I wish the packaging was in a tube but I'll give up tube packaging for what quite possibly is the best moisturizer I've ever used. Worth every penny. Go out and buy it!!!

The only product that truly calms my winter parched skin. I use it as a night moisturizer and my skin is plump and soft in the morning. I also use this under my eyes and on my laugh lines (for some reason my skin is always dry there in the winter) during the day. Gives a nice dewy finish...definitely NOT matte, sometimes I even pat a tiny amount of this over my undereye concealer...makes my eye area look smooth and glowy. Definitely for people with dry skin...far too thick for oily and probably even normal skin types. It does have a thick consistency, I find it is better to pat it into the skin rather than trying to spread it, it just melts in and leaves skin dewy and not greasy at all.
I always hate jar packaging but the cream is so thick I guess it is probably the best container. The jar itself, even in the new plastic packaging, is elegant looking on the bathroom counter and I love love love the light, fresh smell. This product is a staple in my skincare lineup. I just have to pray Aveda doesn't discontinue it like they seem to do with every product I love.

Yes, the creme is thick, but it makes my skin so happy! I started out just using it for more moisture at night, but now use it in the am as well. It does not irritate my skin or cause breakouts. I do wish it weren't as thick, because it seems to take a lot of product to cover my whole face (doesn't spead out easily). It does however soak in nicely and I don't feel greasy. Love the eye creme, too but I think they are discontinuing.

I've seen a lot of people say this has a glue type consistency. It's a bit thick and gooey but once it's soaked into your skin, it feels very moisturizing. I like using this at night and sometimes in the morning if my skin is feeling extra tight/dry. My pet peeve is having dry skin or seeing dry skin. If you put this on, wait 5 minutes, and apply some mineralized skin finish from MAC you have a nice flawless complexion. And it makes you glow from within, I highly recommend it! The smell is really nice aswell. I gave it -1 lipstick because of the price.

You know when you mix corn starch and water, you get a weird solidy- liquid type consistency? That's what this creme felt like. It felt strange and was hard to spread on your skin. It also made me break out into little bumps. Not recommended for people who don't want to feell like they have glue on their face.

I've been using Aveda recently, and thought this creme would be good for winter days. It has a thick rich consistency and feels slightly heavy on the skin. It takes a while to sink in, but my face is left very hydrated and shiny. It was difficult to apply powder or eye makeup because it felt slippery. I did get a reaction to this creme, it was probably too heavy for my skin. I think it would be wonderful for those with dry skin issues. Now i've been using it for body and hands. It seems to be working better for me that way. I won't be repurchasing this.

I'm not certain if the other reviewers are using this with the entire line or not. It is an ideal product, especially when used with the line, as it is hydrating and helps to exfoliate while it hydrates. Again, you need to hang in there for at least two weeks to see results.
Best skin care line I've used in my life bar none! I don't need to use foundation or concealor after using this line. Absolute perfection!
