I have been on proactive for exactly two years now. I've never had that bad of acne, a couple pimples here and there, a couple hormonal breakouts, but mostly stress breakouts. Proactive is good, but your skin will become dependent on it. When I started proactive I had the worst acne I've ever had in my life. It went away within a couple weeks which was great, so I tried to ease myself off of it since it is such a harsh set of products and that horrible acne came back. I only get acne now when I don't use it religiously. Somethings to keep in mind, the toner bleached my eyebrows. I have pitch black eyelashes and eyebrows and when I was in the midst of my bad acne and would be using the products like crazy about every other strand in my eyebrows turned orange. If you get sunburned DO NOT use this product. When I first started proactive I started in August, went to the pool with my cousins for the day and came home a little red and this stuff BURNED! So during summer I really don't like using this. I was in water polo In high school and the chlorine would dry out my oily skin when I was in season and proactive again would burn my skin. It bleaches clothing and honestly I'm convinced it has lightened my face as well. IM currently trying to slowly get my skin off this bc I feel this is just to harsh of a treatment since I have not had a terrible break out like when I first started

I'm in my late 30's, and I started breaking out badly a few months ago. Using the Proactiv 3-Step System completely cleared my acne within 5 to 6 weeks. I use all three steps at night plus a light moisturizer. I only use the cleanser in the morning along with a sunscreen. I tried using the system twice a day, but it made me too dry. The dryness subsided once I switched to a once-a-day treatment. I also experienced some itching in the beginning, but eventually that went away too. I buy my kits at a mall kiosk to avoid club memberships and unauthorized credit card charges. Overall, my skin looks better than it ever has. Proactiv is pricey, but it's worth it, because it works.

I had to stop using this stuff because it was doing something crazy to my skin. I had an allergic reaction or something but either way it was bad

I used to use this product battling my acne problems and breakouts and it actually made my skin breakout more! I do not recommend this product at all!

Did absolutely nothing for my acne. I think this product line is too harsh. And WAY too expensive. I switched to Cerave cleanser, oil cleansing, and gentle plain moisturizer. I use AcneFree products from the drugstore and they work way better, not to mention they don't break the bank.

I would give this product a 0/5 if I could. This stuff is awful and it made my skin way worse and did so much damage. So happy I've been off this stuff for three years. I finally found another brand that works so much better and is a lot safer for my skin. I would not recommend this to anyone as this is the worst skin care product I think I have ever tried in my entire life. Truly awful.

I had a love affair with proactiv for about 10 years. Then one day my fiancÚ told me I shouldn't use anything with chemicals etc etc, and like the fool I was I tried to change. Because I hadn't had acne for 10 years, I forgot how bad it used to be. Well it was fine for about 4 months after I quit. I was washing my face with water and pure vegetable glycerin soap or whatever ridiculous thing it was. What a mistake. I broke out so bad I now have permanent scarring on both sides of my forhead. I still didn't want to go back to the chemicals so I'd try tea tree oil, apple cider etc. you name it, I tried it. For 2 years. Then I developed melasma and sun damage. So I did chemical peels, retin a, laser. Nothing worked and my skin looks older than ever.
I started proactiv again last week and my redness and acne are already going away. I've decided that being depressed and self conscious was basically ruining my life and who cares about the chemicals. Life is too short to hide in the house, or dread going to work with horrible painful acne.
I'm glad I'm back on it. Wish I'd never quit.
It just works for my oily, acne prone skin. I just use the 3 steps. I found the other side products is just too much to use. Although I do like the green tea moisturizer ALOT.
I want to tell people I see on the street with bad acne, to use it. But I know how embarrassing it is, so I don't.
I'm hoping the benzoyl peroxide will eventually fade my melasma too, and I now wear sunscreen which I never did in my 20's. You HAVE to wear sunscreen everyday with this product, or any product. Or no product. Just use sunscreen! Your 30 year old self will thank you.
