WARNING: Super long review, featuring an experiment I did with this scrub.

Ocean salt is such a huge cult classic for LUSH, and I have to say I do like it but only for my body. I did a bit of an experiment after I had some suspicions about this scrub. I was pretty sure this was putting my skin through hell and back but I just couldn't come to terms with it. Let's go back to the first time I used it on my face. It smelled amazing in the shower and was really fun to use. I was so intrigued by the large chunks of salt. I got out and my face was pretty freaking red, which it usually only gets that way when a product is too harsh for my skin, but usually goes away. I tried to be optimistic and assumed it would tone down like others harsh face washes I've used in the past. I like how bright and polished my face looked so I tried to focus on that. Hours later my nose started to form small little white heads on my nose and my jaw line was starting to show a red, bumpy rash. Also, the redness everywhere else in my face? Didn't go away. I just blamed it on hormones from being on my "time of the month" even though I don't ever get break outs or get rashes even during that time. My skin still didn't really recover from it all week either. I had cake face foundation all week to conceal my bumpy, unbalanced, tomato colored face. I used it again next week. Same thing. Must be my new makeup remover wipes I just got, right? Can't be this expensive, fancy, organic face scrub, right? I decided I should just stop using it for a while and just use Angels on Bare Skin just to see if it might be the culprit. My skin cleared up in a few weeks and I was back to my normal skin with no redness and no breakouts. Now we're back to current time. Last night, I decided to do an experiment to see if this really was the problem for my horrible skin issues that I had about a month ago. I washed half of my face with AOBS on the right side and the other half with Ocean Salt on the left. Guys, I'm not kidding. I'm sitting here pissed off, writing this review because the left side of my face has already formed a white head and the bright red jaw line rash is back... The right side? It looks perfect. So basically, I'll just be using this to exfoliate before shave my legs for now on and keeping it far away from my face. It does an okay job for the body but if you are prone to redness or have sensitive skin, don't put this on your face. I won't be repurchasing this because it just isn't amazing enough on the body to forgot the cruel and mean damage it did to my poor face. Oh, and it's pretty pricey. I'll stick with my Mango Tree Hut sugar scrub that cost less than half the price of Ocean Salt.

i use this about twice a week when i need to feel physically and mentally and emotionally clean. it exfoliates good but it mostly makes me feel like i'm sloughing the build up of awfulness off of my face and starting again. it's amazing for a hangover when you're ready to face the shower.

I love this product so much.
I have acne-prone, oily skin. Within just a few uses, the little bumps on my skin have already started to clear up. Not only that, my skin tone also looks more even now.

Would def. repurchase again. Both my sister and I love this stuff. Plus it smells really good.

Love love love Ocean Salt!

I only use this product on my face and it works wonders for my skin.
I have a combination of oily and dry skin but it isn't too bad so even though this product is quite grainy I find it isn't too rough on my face.

When I pair up ocean salt with angels on bare skin ( I use one in the morning one at night ) my skin just feels so much better and cleaner than when I use a regular face wash.

This scrub is in a hefty price but I would still repurchase it. I bought the 250 g for over $30 CAN. It's a big jar and I only use a Lonnie size and can cover my face. This product can be used for face and body. But I would only use this just for the face most of the time due to price. I would just use it for body as my treat.

The product does make my skin softened and smooth without drying not like any other scrub products I had used. I have quite sensitive skin but so far I'm okay with this product. If you have any wound on your face, stay away as the sea salt as one of the ingredients will sting

I would repurchase as I do think that it does its purpose -exfoliating the full dead skin to make my face look clean, smooth and soft. The natural ingredients also a selling point to me as I grow older I'm concern what stuff put on my face. I'm in my late 30 and have combination skin, tend to dehydrated side.

I bought this product for my 17 y/o daughter who has combination skin. I have normal skin, little to zero blemishes. I used it last night without a problem. After putting on and wearing makeup for most of the day today, I decided to use Ocean Salt again. Big Mistake!! As soon as I put it on, my skin started to burn. I now have reddish patches on my cheeks and they feel as if they've been burned. It's as if I took a scouring pad and rubbed it into my skin. Ouch!

Be very careful when using this product, even if you have oily or combination skin. I definitely would not use it on consecutive days and no more than 2x/week. It is very harsh.

I really like this scrub. My skin is very oily, but also dehydrated. This makes my skin feel kind of yucky and it also keeps products from actually sinking into my skin properly. This scrub exfoliates without irritating my skin, and afterwards my moisturizing night cream actually sinks into my skin instead of just lying on top of it and feeling greasy. Will repurchase.

This is an excellent product provided you dont have much acne, cuts, wounds etc on your face because of the sea salt and lemon in the product (duh)

the smell is great and it helps to really exfoliate and scrub ur skin well. only u will most likely get a taste of this product (cant say its a yucky taste.. but yes.. quite a strange one) when you are rinsing your face.

This scrub doesn't really do the job for me. I bought it in the hopes of clearing up my acne. However, it made it slightly aggravated and worse. Whilst keeping my skin exfoliated and pure, it was a harsh scrub that scratched my face and pimples.

I would suggest that sensitive skinned people and people with acne avoid this product.

It is extremely pricey, but actually lasts quite a while. The is such a good idea, and whilst I realise that many people hate having to dip their whole hand in the pot, I am such a fan. You can easily pick out a little amount. Just be sure to keep the pot dry.

The smell is amazing, it literally smells like a fresh, juicy pina colada or lime mocktail.

It has very harsh but good exfoliation, if that's what you're looking for.

This product is amazing! I have normal / oily t zone so combination skin but I found that this product really balanced that out. Great during winter when my skin is dryer as it leaves you with a bit of a glow. However do not use it too often as it can be a tad harsh but if I'm going through a rough patch with my skin and feel I need it everyday I will mix it in with my st Ives scrub which is more creamy and that allows me to use it daily over about a week or two.
