Packaging is terrible. So so so hard to squirt out the appropriate amount when you're wet in the shower.
I go through like a bottle of this every two weeks and it's expensive.
However it is a MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it was $40 for 2oz I'd probably still buy it.
:)

I noticed that my hair has not grown in years due to breakage. For a while I thought I just couldn't have long hair. Then I remembered my long, thick mane of hair from about 8 years ago. I realized that I was using Redken Cat religiously back then, on my stylists suggestion. So I thought I would try it again. Flash forward 5 weeks later and I swear my hair is longer than it's been in years. It feels healthy and strong and I am so mad at myself for not continuing to use Cat for all these years. This stuff is like a miracle in a bottle. I have very fine hair and is a bit damaged from over processing, but I can definitely feel the difference in the structure of my hair since getting back on the Cat treatment. I use it every time I wash my hair (every 2-4 days) and follow up with a deep conditioner that I leave on for at least an hour. This product really works and I am a very skeptical person.

Love, love, love this stuff. Redken CAT has literally saved my hair. After reading about this in so many product reviews (which people would use it in conjunction with) and seeing raves on blogger I decided to pick it up. CAT had made my hair stronger and more resilient. It is less frizzy and much less susceptible to breaking. As many have said, it will not moisturise your hair, so be sure to follow with a good conditioner.

With all my hair color changes and all the glop I do put on my hair it needs a good clarification every once in a while and before coloring.
When I do this, I will use my CAT and leave it on as directed followed by the conditioner which my hands land on at the moment. I do believe this product has made my hair behave and look good despite the chemical treatments.
The bottle could use some work, but it is my little blue miracle worker and I will always have it in stock.

I really like this product! I use it once a week on my fine 4a/b hair and each time I use it, I notice my hair getting stronger and stronger. It's a great protein treatment to me, because it doesn't make your hair too hard like Aphogee and you only have to leave it in for 5 minutes. This has become a staple in my regimen since I need protein for my fine hair. The only thing I dislike is the spray bottle, which is awkward and difficult to handle in the shower.

The last time I bleached it was, I think, 5 months ago. I've just chopped off like 5cm of my ends so I'm only applying the Redken CAT onto the processed part of my hair (10cm from the scalp down) in order to grow my hair without having oftem trims. This really infuses my hair with protein & you can defenitely notice the difference in strength. My hair can be tugged without ripping & split ends are formed as easily.
Used in conjunction with Redken ALL SOFT HEAVY CREAM, my hair is left feeling as soft as it was if I only dyed it once (i'm not expecting miracles - after all I've bleached my hair like twice & tinted it twice). My hair is noticably softer & stronger, therefore, less breakage & hair fall due to the tangles I previouly endured.
My only triped is the consistency & packaging, it's so watery so when i spray it with my wet hands, it's quite awkward & my hands keep & slipping off. I'd prefer it to be a light cream where you can just squeeze onto your palm & run down your hair. Instead, I'm standing there spraying & not sure if I've covered all the areas since the consistency is like water. So I spray heaps to ensure I have all the areas covered. One bottle will probably last my like 3 months.

I don't know exactly how well this works, because I've always used it in conjunction with other products. However, I've been using it a few times a week for about 2 weeks now, and I've noticed a significant change in my hair. It feels very healthy, it's shinier, and the ends look better than they did before. I've also read other reviews on other sites saying that this "saved" people's overprocessed or even overbleached hair. So needless to say, I have great faith in this product. It's a bit pricey (I got it for 16.99 at Ricky's) but it's still worth it if you want to repair your hair.

I really wasn't expecting anyhing much from this, especially because the consistency is so wet, it doesn't feel like anything but water. well anyway.. i washed with shampoo, rinsed, sueezed out access water then sprayed this on with both hands griping that awful bottle trying to spray enough product everywhere, rinsed after 5. after rinsing, I really hated the way my hair felt so rough, well most protein products do that to me anyway but i proceeded with the conditioner and rinsed. Only after styling do I realise how this has strengthened my hair, there was hardly any breakage. Just before using this my hair was realling breaking off whenever i brushed it, now nothing. wow.
I will most definetly keep repurchasing.
EDIT 4/12/11: this is not the best protein treatment that you could use for your hair. I was new to using protein on my hair and this seemed to work at the time but after undergoing more chemical treatments to my hair, my hair was more damaged and this just didn't do anything anymore. Joico K.pak, nexxus and Aphogee protein treatments work more intensly than this if you're looking to add strengthening proteins into your hair.
I know that the product has been reformulated and I can't comment on how the new formula differs from the old but this review is for the old formula.

Used this product about 10 years when I had a bleaching disaster in a salon and most of long, long hair broke off all around the crown about 3 inches from my scalp! Devastated. I have very thin, highly-processed hair but love it long and blonde. Anyway, years later, I was just single-process dying it blonde but decided to do some foils again & again and suddenly I have thin, lifeless broken-off hair! Freaking out, had hairdresser put shades on it, then darker shades & cut it. Very sad. Remembered CAT from years ago & started using it abot 1-2 weeks ago & already it is sooo much better! Here's what I do: wash hair with Extreme or another High-End shampoo from Redken, apply Extreme Rescue Force Condutioner, towel dry. Apply about 10-15 pumps of CAY (yes, it's alot) all over hair and scrunch it up until it's foamy, wait 5 mins, rinse and repeat 3 tines. I bought 4 bottles already and my hairdresser says it's overuse but it's not! My hair was so damaged and now it's soft, the ends are fuller, not so stringy & spaghetti-like. I will get more bottles and use it extensively for a month. I also use Bumble & Bumble Deep Conditionerer, ABBA Color Pure, Joico, Dumb Blonde, etc. It;s not like I wasn't conditioning my hair. But you really need to use CAT in conjunction with deep conditioner so that you rebuild thye protein & then add m,oiusture. And no foils! I wasn't even bleach-blonde, just very golden. I just wish I wouldn't have cut it!

This product is a MUST for damaged/dry/color treated/permed hair! I used it for years when I bleached and saw okay improvement, but was not told how to use it properly for its best performance power. The secret to using this is like they do at the salon-.Shampoo hair, towel blot, and then spray all over from root to tip. Spray it so many times it makes your hair drip.. This product is thin and water like, but if you scrunch it into wet hair, the water like liquid will foam up with lots of suds. This is hands down the best way to use this product. Once the product is lathered all over the hair, let it sit for 5 minutes, rinse out, and repeat until you have done this 3 times, remembering to scrunch it up until it foams as if you were trying to scrunch curl your hair. This3 step treatment is a popular "deep protein repair treatment" salons charge $30-50 for. Even salons that dont carry Redken, usually have some of this in the back for emergencies. A bottle runs about $15, and each 3 step treatment takes about half an inch to an inch worth or product, so you could get 10+ treatments per bottle so it def pays for itself in one use. If your hair isnt extremely damaged or processed, then you could get tons of uses a bottle, but remember to spray a super generous amount and scrunch it up into suds for results. I had a horrible experience where a salon double processed my blonde and 6+ inches fell out, and it melted off! This product combined with joico kpak literally saved my hair. I have a review for redken extreme deep fuel which is pretty much the same as this, so I alternated it with the cat treatment. If you dont like to do a lot of work yourself, I suggest get the extreme deep fuel. If you dont mind spray, and sudsing up your own hair, buy this, because you get so many uses per bottle, verses the individual packets of deep fuel. Something else I noticed with this, if your hair isnt badly damaged or dry, then you will need a deep conditioner after this, and may not see improvement right away, but it IS restoring your protein. Hair in bad shape soaks this stuff up, and this will make your hair feel like silk, and smooth the cuticle. Someone with hair that does not need as much protein, probably wouldnt see why this is so great, but its good for maintaining, and for deep treatments. It does work, it rescues distressed hair, and is a great product to use every 2 weeks to once a month. It has been proven that redken cat protein will stop 70% of damage instantly , and my hair is living proof of that. Highly recommend this, a good protein treatment like this is as important as your favorite shampoo and conditioner.

I love how soft this product makes my hair feel. It doesn't weigh it down at all, either. My only issue with it is that it is a little bit difficult to spray when your hands are wet. I bought it from the distributor so I'm not too sure about the price, but I'd say it's definitely worth a try! Love this.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My HG! Puts proteins back into your hair that were lost because of chemicals, weather, styling, heat, medications, etc... Make sure to use a good conditioner afterwords since protein only strengthens and doesn't moisturize!
It stops working after 5 minutes so leaving it on for more than 5 will not do a thing! I know, I'm a hairstylist!
What you can do is wash it out after 5 minutes, Towel dry hair, and apply the CAT again. You can do this 3x in a row and you'll notice a significant difference!

This has officially blown me away! My hair is weak and frizzy b/c it's so super fine and I dye it dark brown/natural black all the time. This is hands down the ONLY thing I've found that makes it loads fuller and thicker feeling!!!! And along with the added benefit of strengthening my sad little locks, it's a no-brainer. I've applied twice a week for 2 weeks now but I want to do it EVERYDAY. I know that is probably bad though and not very cost effective. So I'm trying to resist temptation and keep it to once a week. I follow up with Terax conditioner - love that stuff, it's a miracle too. Only peeve is that It is hard to use in the shower with wet hands. I end up using two hands for better grip. But I can live with that - this is a keeper for life. I think I'll try the "No snap" (? whatever it's called) too.

I have been using this off and on for 20 years. When I am "off" (foregetting to use it) my hair deteriorates, it's thin, fragile and I'm hypothyroid (hair Hell for anyone who's been there). When I use it, it's like I have different hair, strong, even texture roots to ends, fuller, shinier, more manageable, you name it. This stuff is phenomenal. If my hair is bad, I use it every day with deep fuel afterward for one week, then once a week, again useing deep fuel afterwards, thereafter. Absolutely the best, nothing does for my hair what the Redken Extreme line does. Anyone with fine, fragile, challenged hair must try these products! You'll be glad you did.

can't stress enough how big of a difference this makes in the stregnth of my hair as well as my clients... if you chemically process your hair, you need CAT!
It's different than most protein treatments because it targets the specific protein bond in the hair responsible for strength and 'toughness'... most protein treatments address the protein bonds responsible for the hairs moisture so the instant gratification they give is just a bandaide. With regular use, CAT will help your hair withstand brutal chemical abuse and keep breakage away.
the only flaw is the packaging. The bottle is triangular making it impossible to hold onto with one hand when your hands are wet.

CAT is great for super-bleached or over processed hair or for fine/limp hair. It puts protein back into the hair. The hair feels thicker and takes away that mushy feeling that superfried hair can have. Fine/limp (not processed) hair may not need a traditional conditioner afterward. All other types of hair should use a good moisturizing conditioner afterward.

Now this is a Redken Treatment I'm extremely happy with. I have chemically treated, waistlength hair and occasionally I feel like giving it an extra protein treatment aside from all the oiling and whatnot. This is the thing! I use a good amount on damp hair and leave it in for at least one hour. My hair feels really strong again afterwards, moisturized and it shines. Only downside: One bottle won't get you far if you have as long hair as I do. But then again, I only use it about twice a year ;)
Will definitely buy again!
