I would not recommend ProActiv for anyone. I have tried it two times, once when I was 13 and again when I was 15. My acne at 13 was not terrible but no way was my skin clear ever. I always had a breakout. When I tried it, I only used a little bit of the face wash and toner and a lot of moisturizer. The next day, I woke up with my acne gone but my skin was completely red and burned so bad. My eyes were swollen almost shut. I didn't try it the next day or after and then just used the face wash and toner and my own moisturizer until my skin got used to the benzoyle peroxide. Once it did and I could use all 3 steps my skin looked good for a few weeks, but I peeled a lot. After a month, my skin had built a resistance against the product and my acne came back. My skin was left so dry and took a while to get back to normal. When I tried it again, I had the same reaction. I only used it for 2 weeks and my skin already built resistance to the product and my face was so dry and peeling and it burned. The texture of my skin did not feel much better and the results were only temporary. Way too many chemicals for your skin to handle.

Even though i do have dry skin, i do still have acne (forehead, chin and nose), and discolouration on my cheeks. I have used Proactive for 4 years, and it has worked wonders on my skin. Any pimples and scarring have disappeared, my red cheeks are a lot calmer and my under-eye bags are completely gone. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has acne problems or discolouration.

I have been using Proactiv for a couple of weeks now, doing it twice daily, and so far, I am fairly happy with the results. It gets my face really clean, and I can tell it is bringing all the dirt out of my skin and stuff. However, it will dry you out if you use too much and my cheeks are horribly and uncomfortably dry right now. But as for acne, it is clearing it up quickly. So I recommend only using the size of a pea for the cleanser and moisturizer, and for the toner, I use a small amount on a cotton ball. The price is affordable, and the packaging is good, too.

I would never recommend this line. I bought an unused month supply from a friend and I know why she stopped using it. It does get rid of acne, but boy, it really dries the rest of your face. The only good feature are the spot pads. I use them on the area I feel a zit coming on and it does the trick. Due to the harshness of the products, though I disposed of all but the pads. I may be wrong, but I believe you can not buy the pads alone. Try Oxy deep cleaning pads and creams instead. These control my "stress acne" outbreaks nicely, and they are not nearly as toxic as the Proactiv.

Those looking to treat combination dry and acne-prone skin can have a difficult time finding products which will act in compliment to one another. The Proactiv+ Skin Smoothing Exfoliator boasts 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, linoleic acid and glycolic to both treat acne and exfoliate the skin. While benzoyl peroxide is good at treating acne, it also can be drying and irritating to those with already sensitive or dry skin. Even though Proactiv uses benzoyl peroxide in a low concentration, this exfoliator is meant to be used twice a day, which could be far too drying for even most normal and oily skin types, let alone those suffering from combination dry and acne-prone skin. Even though it includes both glycolic acid and glycerin as moisturizers, the Proactiv+ Skin Smoothing Exfoliator fails to offer more than simple exfoliation and mild hydration for the skin.Read more on our blog!http://www.keradigm.com/raclarx-vs-proactiv/

I first started using this 3 step system when I was a teenager. It worked but their auto shipping was ridiculous. The kits last longer than 90 days so I had a bunch of unopened ones and my parents got tired of paying for them so I switched to different products. Fast forward to now I am 26 years old and using it again. I have acne prone skin and probably will all of my life. I have tried various products and was even on Accutane when my acne was really bad (cystic). I recently went off bcp so my skin was always broken out with a few pimples. I tried the acne.org system and it did not work for me. I decided to try proactive again and bought it from one of those kiosks at the mall. It's been about 2 months and my skin is looking great! No more breakouts and its so smooth and more even toned. This may be too harsh for some people but my skin really likes it. I don't really think its that expensive; I bought the 30 day kit for around $30 and its lasted me well over 2 months. It also came with a mask but I don't use it very often. I will continue to use this as long as my skin keeps looking good. Keep in mind this is not a "cure" for acne. If you stop using it your acne will most likely return if you're like me and have acne prone skin or haven't figured out what is causing your acne. Also use a moisturizer with SPF during the day as this will make your skin more sensitive to the sun. I recommend buying this at the mall to avoid their auto shipping.

If you have very oily skin with cystic breakouts this is the product for you, if you have occasional little bumps and combination skin then this is probably too strong. I never had breakouts as a teen but started having problems in my 30s when I was pregnant and it never went away, I also live in a very hot and humid climate which is awful for my skin. This product after about 3 weeks really cleared me up, I still get some breakouts but nothing like I was before. I have tried every department store brand of skincare, even extremely expensive skincare from day spas and had facials every other week , this is the only thing I've ever seen lasting results with

I have been on proactive for exactly two years now. I've never had that bad of acne, a couple pimples here and there, a couple hormonal breakouts, but mostly stress breakouts. Proactive is good, but your skin will become dependent on it. When I started proactive I had the worst acne I've ever had in my life. It went away within a couple weeks which was great, so I tried to ease myself off of it since it is such a harsh set of products and that horrible acne came back. I only get acne now when I don't use it religiously. Somethings to keep in mind, the toner bleached my eyebrows. I have pitch black eyelashes and eyebrows and when I was in the midst of my bad acne and would be using the products like crazy about every other strand in my eyebrows turned orange. If you get sunburned DO NOT use this product. When I first started proactive I started in August, went to the pool with my cousins for the day and came home a little red and this stuff BURNED! So during summer I really don't like using this. I was in water polo In high school and the chlorine would dry out my oily skin when I was in season and proactive again would burn my skin. It bleaches clothing and honestly I'm convinced it has lightened my face as well. IM currently trying to slowly get my skin off this bc I feel this is just to harsh of a treatment since I have not had a terrible break out like when I first started

I'm in my late 30's, and I started breaking out badly a few months ago. Using the Proactiv 3-Step System completely cleared my acne within 5 to 6 weeks. I use all three steps at night plus a light moisturizer. I only use the cleanser in the morning along with a sunscreen. I tried using the system twice a day, but it made me too dry. The dryness subsided once I switched to a once-a-day treatment. I also experienced some itching in the beginning, but eventually that went away too. I buy my kits at a mall kiosk to avoid club memberships and unauthorized credit card charges. Overall, my skin looks better than it ever has. Proactiv is pricey, but it's worth it, because it works.
