My skin is very sensitive, acne prone, and dehydrated. No matter what cleanser I use my skin get dry and flaky. The HydraQuench Intensive Serum has been miraculous for my skin.
This is my absolute favorite product from Clarins. I use it after washing my face and every shower. The dryness, flakiness, and very fine lines around the eyes and on my forehead disappear right away.
I also enjoy the luxurious scent. Like many French skincare lines Clarins is heavily scented. Those allergic to fragrances should stay away from this product.

Clarins recently reformulated this product. It used be amazing! Now the serum is so watery that the ingredients don't even seem to mix well together. The new formula is even kind of oily so it is less of a serum and more like a liquid solution.
I was very sad about repurchasing this product. Now it does nothing for my skin and it just sits there....
Bad choice Clarins!!!!

I got a large sample of this as a GWP a few weeks ago, and thought I'd try it out. I am a bit of a Clarins girl, I tend to love their products and nearly always go for Clarins over other brands. BUT, not this time. It is a good serum, have used it daily since I got it, but I honestly can't say it is worth the money. It is still very cold here, and Hydra Quench is a line I like more in summer than winter, but when it comes to serums I don't see how temperature would make a difference, since I always use a moisturiser over it.
I'm glad to have tried it for free, but I will not be buying the serum. I think the no7 serum is so much better, when it comes to effectiveness, how it feels on my skin, and especially when it comes to the price. I normally don't mind paying more for high end products (as silly as it may seem, they make me happy), but this just isn't one for me.
I will finnish the bottle, but after that, I am getting back on the no7.

I love love love love love this product. However, I sometimes forget to shake the bottle before I pump it (so I am not in love with the packaging) I use it on its own in the morning before makeup and I use it under my moisturizer at night or when I go swimming.
Makes my skin so soft and hydrated but not oily!

There are many skin products that I've been recommended but none usually works. But this one did!! And this one almost works with any moisturizer. It's crucial that you use it under a moisturizer or a cream. If you find a suitable moisturizer, then this skin routine will keep you moistured all day!!!
By the way, i'm om my 2nd bottle!!

To be honest, I am a huge I heart clarins fan but this serum did hydrate but I had little bumps from it. So having sensitive skin, it did bother mine. That being said, all of my skin care products are from Clarins but not this one.
I do appreciate all the samples you can try at Clarins so you don't have to buy the large product to see if it is compatible with your skin.

I was in need of a serum and when I came across this, it worked great! It helped add moisture and hydration to my skin which I really needed since I have dry skin ): I use this after cleansing my face and it doesn't feel sticky when applied and absorbs within seconds! The mini pump makes it easy to dispense. I'm not sure about the price since I got it as a gift from my mum but I'm assuming its not cheap :P I know clarins products have those 'high end' prices. But the product really does work well~

As Autumn is coming on, I decided to add this to my skin care routine to prevent against dehydration.
It is a blue, bi phase serum and needs to be shaken well before use. It is from the Hydraquench line which is based on Katafray bark.
I use this in the AM under my Clarins day cream; I am working through a Clarins oil at night, so I skip the serum and just let the oil work.
Pros: my skin does feel hydrated. A little goes a long way so it isn't too dear for the price. It doesn't break me out. The packaging is nice; the pump means that it doesn't spill when it's in my bag and only a little comes out at a time.
Cons: it does feel 'siliconey' on my skin and I HATE the smell. To me, it smells like stale cigarettes. Weird, I know.
Honestly, it is okay. It does what it says it does. I just think that I could get the same results with a basic oil under my day cream. I am a minimalist, and there isn't enough results for me to go to the bother of adding another step to my routine.

I totally love this product. I have mature skin but is normal in summer and only ever slightly drier in winter. For the past summer, I decided to give my skin a break and just went for a hydrating based product. Bought both this serum and the gel-cream from the same range. Used only the serum for day along with my sunscreen and makeup if necessary and for night, this serum along with the gel-cream in this range. I'm on my 2nd bottle at the end of summer and am awfully satisfied with my skin. Blackheads are rare these days and no whiteheads so far. I have decided that my skin is now ready for another treatment course (will try Clarins' Capital Lumiere next) and will definitely repurchase their Hydra Quench when my skin needs a break again.

A bit about my skin: Very acne-prone, dehydrated but oily, sensitive. Also quite scarred with some hyper pigmentation from spots as well. And though I'm 19, I have some scary fine lines!
I bought this a while ago when suffering from acute dryness. I found it worsened my breakouts, and put it aside. Recently, my skin has been very dehydrated again. I tried this again, and absolutely loved it. I think the problem might have been that I (stupidly) wasn't shaking the bottle. You must, since it's bi-phase, or you won't really be using the serum! I use this every morning and find it hydrates but doesn't leave me greasy, and I don't have to wait too long before applying makeup. It also does really help with oiliness--my skin, when hydrated, produces less oil throughout the day.
The reason I would not repurchase this is because though it is a really lovely serum that works quite well for me, it feels extremely sillicone-y, which makes me thing that though it is improving my skin in the short term it's only superficial, and I'd like to find something that is not. I think I will try Rosehip oil once this runs out.
Edit: I moved to a dryer (though still sort of humid) climate, and my skin became very sensitive, dry, and inflamed due to a number of factors--stress being a major one. This really aggravated my skin. I chucked it.

This clearly has fragrance in it (and boy, is that a long ingredient list) It's been a year since I last used it, I think, but as I recall, there's nothing to write home about. I didn't have any bad reaction to it, but I didn't see any kind of improvement either. I simply finished the bottle I had (let's face it, it's a lot of money for a little bottle) and moved on, never bought it again, and I don't think I ever will.

I have a dehydrated acne-prone skin. This serum plumped my face but It broke me out heavily with cystic acne.
Now I am using it only on my eyelids cause I don't want to throw it away as I paid 65 € for it, not worth it, BAD, BAD purchase for oily skin...

Disgusting. First three ingredients are water, glycerin and mineral oil. This should not be so expensive, given its cheap ingredients. Feels like a coating that sits atop your skin (lube-y, like pure glycerin). I'd rather coat my face in Crisco.

There are a lot of reviews on here for this product making people break out, but I have had problems with acne in the past and I think if you have acne-prone but dehydrated skin then don't let the reviews shy you away from asking for a sample of the product. It's done me worlds of good.
Since starting my new job my skin just kept getting dryer and dryer because of the environment to the point where until I started using HydraQuench my skin was irritated and pink and flaking so that I couldn't even wear foundation and almost wanted to stay home so no one would see my face. I tried drinking more water, I tried using more moisturizer, I tried using a different exfoliator, I tried switching out my makeup incase it was an allergic reaction to something, but nothing worked.
Then my friend said that during the winter she uses this product. I talked to the girl at Clarins when I went to go buy my usual foundation and she gave me a 15ml sample. MAGIC. I swear, within a week, my skin was perfect again.
After I wash and tone my face I put it on then I put on my regular moisturizer.
I'm telling you, you may have oily skin, you may have dry skin, but if hydration is your issue you should definitely give it a shot. It's a bit expensive when you compare to a basic moisturizer, but for a serum it's a great deal, compared to most serums that can put you closer to 100$.
The 15ml bottle lasted me a long time, I just recently bought my first large bottle. Some people say it's hard to apply, and it's true in a sense because at first I was trying to apply it directly to my face and I'd get it in my hair and it would drive me nuts, but then I started putting on my hands and then on my face and the problem was solved.
Also, don't forget to shake it! Otherwise it feels oily on the skin and you'll have to wash it off and waste the product.
Overall, great product, it's too bad that so many people say it gives them acne. I think if you're wary about it, you should ask for a sample, Clarins is good for that. Then, see how your skin reacts. It really is like magic for me. I'd hate to see someone miss out on results just because they read a bad review. :/

I have combination skin, this broke me out on my forehead area. I had 5 pimples :( however its pretty good on my cheeks and mouth area which are dehydrated. But because of the nasty acne I got I wouldn't repurchase.

I am so glad that I purchased this product as it has really helped my skin a lot!!! I have combination to oily skin that is dehydrated so even though the surface of my face gets super shiny, I have cracked and flakey areas around my mouth, jawline, temples and hairline (more so during the winter months). I used to think that I just had very oily skin and I hated my face getting so shiny... so I used harsh alcohol toners, oil-free moisturizers and acne skincare lines (such as Proactiv and Clinique) in hopes of reducing the oil on my face. But none of them ever worked :( Then one day, after consulting with someone at the Clarins counter, I realized that I actually had "dehydrated skin". Therefore, stripping my skin of all the necessary oils was what was making my skin over-compensate by producing "double oil"... my skin was crying out for help! So I listened to the SA and purchased this serum and ever since, my skin is a lot happier: less shiny and flakey than it once used to be. I highly recommend and will definitely continue purchasing in the future :)

I absolutely love this product and it is my skin saviour especially during the winter. I have dry/combination skin, but where my skin is dry, its rough, flaky, tight and uncomfortable, and strangely where my skin is oily, it still is a little flaky. The reason for this is because my skin is really dehydrated and no matter how much water i drink, im still wholly dependant on a rich moisturiser.
A while back, i had a facial at Clarins spa and the lady recommended me this product. I bought it and now i am seriously addicted. I apply this serum after my toner and sometimes i feel that i dont even need any moisturiser as my skin feels so supple! If i do apply moisturiser on top then throughout the whole day my skin looks and feel soft and hydrated.
I use this product every day twice a day and i dont know what id do without it! Touch wood i havent noticed any side effects or any (negative) reaction. Love it anf highly recommend for anyone who has dry flaky skin....use it after you exfoliate, and your skin will stay smooth!
++Not sure if this is related, but on days where i have run out of the serum and cant apply moisturiser for what ever reason, my skin feels alot more comfortable (there is still a TINY bit of dryness) but nothing uncomfortable!

I was given a 15ml sample of this product after a Clarins facial. At the time my skin was really suffering due to stress and extreme weather. I seriously seemed to age 5 years overnight. Crazy.
Anyway I used this serum morning and night. for 3 weeks. It is a Bi-Phase serum, which means you shake the bottle to mix it up before applying. I was advised that with serums you should gently pat on rather than rub in. This does take slightly more time but really seems to help the product penetrate.
This has really helped my tired looking dehydrated skin. My skin is much more comfortable and has got it's mojo back.
I have switched now to just using this at night as it is slightly to rich for my oily/combo skin during the day.
Overall this is a really good product but I am unliely to repurchase it unless my skin has another rough patch.

I got two trial sizes (equal to a full size) in a summer promotion from Clarins - or the bi-phase serum. It feels amazing on my skin, and I haven't had the usual breakouts I've suffered in the summer before, which I am crediting to a mix of this plus Elemis Pro-Collegen Marine Cream. This makes my skin feel gloriously plumped up with moisture (my cheeks especially suffer from sensitivity given that I spend all day in an air conditioned office) and I even feel that the ruddiness that I have suffered from is much reduced. This has given me better results than the Dior Hydra-something serum I tried last year, despite being cheaper. It is still an expensive product but I've gotten to the point where I don't mind paying a little extra for something that really does give me the results I need - and given how little you need to use it does stretch a loooong way - the price (GBP 37.50 at June 2010) was the only reason I took off one lippie from my overall rating.

My dehydrated skin became smooth after using this for a short while. But I broke out badly. Don't use this if your skin is acne-prone.
