As other reviewers have stated, it takes forever for this product to get off your hair. So I suggest A. using it for special occasions or when you really need to, and B. Using it the first day you wash your hair and not wash your hair for a few days (you're not supposed to anyways).
The holding power is amazing. A little goes a very long way.

I'm sorry but I thought this stuff was rubbish. I had a few goes at using it and ended up throwing it in the bin. It was really difficult to distribute evenly and made my hair all sticky and grey in patches. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

I am using second bottle of this. Like it. But I agree with other reviewers that it has mattifying effect but also very sticky and hard to shampoo it away. The powder is very fine and I apply to the hair root to make the big and puffy hair effect. The effect can last till the next day but it is very difficult to comb through my hair or even run my fingers into it. I need to use a lot of shampoo to wash it away and the moment of shampooing, there is very little foam and I feel that the powder still stays on my hair :(. As a result, everytime I use it, I will have hair fall problem and the hair clogs at the drainage area. I will not use it that regularly unless I want my hair to have a great, puffy, non flat look. Conclusion, the price to pay for using this product, is to face hair fall problem during shampooing.

This product does what it says reasonably well, but at a cost. I have fine, silky, fairly thick hair. A little of this stuff carefully sprinkled at the roots of my dry hair does provide some lift, and I do love that it can be used on dry hair. (My favourite hair lifter, old formula Sebastian Grip, only works on damp hair.)
The 'cost' for this benefit is a really icky feeling. The volume it provides looks a bit like back-combing - sort of frizzy - and feels unpleasant to the touch. It is also, as it says, mattifying, so the natural shine of healthy hair is lost. It really just makes my hair feel dirty, and it looks a bit grubby too, so I find that I can't wait to wash it out!
Bottomline, it's useful to have in my arsenal of emergency hair-fixers and I don't regret buying it, but it will certainly not be something I use regularly.

Got as a sample. Yucky feeling on hair and hands, hard to wash off, and leaves hair looking greasy. Ingredients sound nasty .... Methacrylate copomyler.

I was so surprised the first time I used this. I thought it was going to be a non-aerosol dry shampoo, but this is a bona fide super styling product. Talk about volume... this stuff will make your hair stand up straight if you want it too.
Pro: It works instantly and all you need to do is mess it around with your fingers.
Con: It's sticky. It made my hands tingle too and I thought that was kinda weird, but I didn't care much because I couldn't believe how I was able to shape my hair.

yes this gives your volume but the texture of your hair is nasty! i had my hair cut and styled on saturday. i told him i have to wash my hair every night because i have super oily roots. he sprinkled this on top and it made my hair poufy for like, 5 minutes. then it got all matted and sticky feeling. i couldnt even run my fingers through my hair! who wants hair feeling like this? it was so hard to wash out too-i had to wash my hair twice to get the stuff out. for the price, the amount is not enough.

It is great for achieving loads of volume but it is very hard to wash off.
I use an oil /conditioner first on the areas that i applied osis and massage it well . Then I shampoo. This method works ok .
I don't find myself using this product daily because it hard to wash off later . I just use it whenever my hair needs extra oomph (partying, dinner etc).
Overall, it is a great product which is good for its price
Please be aware of fake osis. Here is a pic showing fake and real osis (not aff). Hope it helps you :

RIDICULOUSLY FINE HAIR???? THINK SOMETIMES YOU ARE BALDING?? FOLLOW THIS:
1. get your hair styled, short length preferable
2.shampoo with nick chavez plump n thick
3. blow dry, straighten, or curl, whatever it is that you do
4. sprinkle lightly at roots with osis. (i put tape on my bottles in the shape of an 'X' to control how much comes out.
5. clip top portion of hair up (a la pompadour) and apply your makeup
6. before leaving home, remove clip and shake out style, fix fly aways and you are thickened and volumized for the day!
*If you are in nyc, go to Flushing/Main St. and you will find this product at the local salons for $16-18 . While you're there get some lychee bubble tea from TenRen. lolol im obsessed!!

I can imagine that this proudct pretty much only works on short hair. Since my hair is down my chest long I have been experiencing it doesn't do the trick for me. Maybe I don't know how to use it properly but I put it in the root of my hair, and then combe the hair up (?) to make it have more volume. And then i spray it. The hair does stay in the same position for like an hour, but not for more than that. I thought it would give me more volume in the root of my hair because that is where I need it. However, I was disappointed.
The good thing is that it wasn't so expensive. But I will not be repurchasing.

AWESOME! Only products that actually makes my hair look bigger. Just sprinkle on your roots and rub the scab a bit and your hair has more volume/big. My hair dresser used it making my bump for an updue. Lasted alllllll night. I don't think it looks "greasy" later, but my hair feels more tanglely but nothing a brush or brushing with your fingers can't fix. I'm debating about buying on ebay after reading one person's review. On ebay it's only $5 and at Ulta or other saloons it's $25.

First of all, it should be known that this is a commonly faked product in internet sales. It is not recommended that you purchase it off eBay, as many have discovered the content was replaced with sugar by crafty vendors.
I got mine from Ulta after a stylist did an amazing job of poofing the hair around the crown of my head, without making me look like an extra on Jersey Shore. She did by sprinkling it on the roots like a salt shaker and teasing her fingers starting at the half way length down.
Then I tried it, and I couldn't get it right. Maybe it looked better when she did it, because she used about 8 different other products and techniques afterward (she has left the salon since and I can't track her down to ask). The big problem I have with this stuff is that it gets nasty oily after a few hours. I have an oily scalp, and it seems to react worse with the oils. It stays dry and messy (not really volumized, but messy) for about an hour, but then it turns to thick, stringy, greasy clumps of hair that make me look like Medusa (with or without hairspray to lock it in).
I'm sure this can work for some, since it looked good when my stylist used it. But since I'm not an expert nor do I have the time or patience to put that much effort into it, it was useless for me. I just stick to teasing combs. If you're a beginner or lazy with your hair, I'd skip this. It's too much work.

I have this in powder-ful volumizing powder which is in different packaging from osis, but same company, same ingredients and lower price (6 canadian dollars if u count tax). I thought i'd post it here in case anybody was looking for a cheaper and exact dupe. Really awesome for my fine curly hair. (The kind that seems flat at the top but really full at the bottom, resulting in a "triangle" shape...this evens it out). Thanks for all the reviews, i rarely go wrong when using them for preliminary shopping 'research'!

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. This is my HG product for volume. I have not found anything better - and I have tried a lot. This gives you awesome volume, and although it doesnt last all day, it is reworkable. I love it. I have several backups.

OSiS Dust It Mattifying Powder is the most fabulous styling product once you get used to using it. A little goes a long way! It definitely has an awkward feel to it; it’s a light powder with almost a sticky feel. It works wonders though to add volume to my fine, limp hair and keeps fly always in place. It works the best after blow drying, I sprinkle a small amount just on the top of my head and massage through the hair down to the scalp. The remaining product on my hands I pull through the ends of my hair. I get amazing volume; this keeps my hair from falling flat, and also from looking greasy. Love It!

THIS PRODUCT HAS EXACTLY THE SAME INGREDIENTS AS THE: Schwarzkopf Taft Full On Rough amp Tough Styling Powder.
The Osis one has been marketed as a salon product at about $25, while the Taft one, marketed at guys, you can get at the supermarket for about $5. Love this product for my fine, oily, straight hair, but the difference in prices due to marketing is ridiculous!

Oh, how I love this miracle in a tiny red shaker. I bought it at Ulta for $22, I think, because my friend raved about it. However, I didn't know how to use it (for my hair specifically). The first time, I just kinda massaged it into my roots and that was it. It did add some volume, but nothing spectacular. Finally, I tried back combing my hair after applying the Dust It. AAAAAAMAZING. Works far better than any hair spray I've tried. I am totally in love with this stuff. It does make your hair feel kinda weird... Almost like it's sticky. And yes, it does make your shampoo not foam up, which drives me crazy, but I'll live. :) If you have fine, thin, limp hair, I 100% recommend this!

This is an HG "hair-changing" product for me. There are some cons with this product but it doesn't detract from the fact that this is the best hair-styling product I have ever purchased. I have very long hair down to my mid-back that is medium-texture and stick straight. This product gives me incredible volume that I have always desired and was never able to achieve with any other volumizing product or styling technique. No volumizing mousse, tonic, heated hair clips, blow-drying my hair upside down or teasing/back-combing with copious amounts of hairspray can give me this type of volume and hold. Some Dust It with a little bit of back-combing allows me to create a great poof. I also use it with my hair down and I can re-activate the volume with my fingertips during the day. It also does mattify and it allows me to go another day without washing my otherwise greasy-the-next-morning hair.
The cons are that this does become tacky and leaves build-up in your hair but a good clarifying shampoo removes it. The packaging also makes it hard to control the amount of product you sprinkle on your hair but I usually pour some on my hand to apply. I was introduced to this at a salon and I thought they were just trying to sell me another expensive product but this stuff really works. If they ever discontinue this, I will stockpile it.

I, too, as other reviewers have stated, have baby-fine, very soft, thin, shoulder-length, extremely straight hair that never has any ability to hold volume for longer than it takes me to walk from the salon to my car. Mary, my beloved stylist, tried this on my roots last time I had my hair done. It is magic. What I really love about this product is that it allows me to go a day or two without washing and my hair still has volume, stays un-greasy, and finally has some texture. Mary showed me how to sprinkle some on the roots and rub it in a little then finger comb into place.
I have to admit that it makes my hair feel a bit like that foam that florists use to push stems into, but that is a very small price to pay for hair that looks so much thicker than it actually is and holds some shape without teasing. It does make my scalp itch just a little at first but again, totally worth the little bit of irritation.
Very happy with this and will buy it again and again. Very innovative product.
