I've been using this shampoo and conditioner for about a year now.
I'll give you a brief history on what I did to my hair. You can skip this if you want, but if you have the same symptoms that I describe then you may want to keep reading. I am of Middle Eastern descent and so I have wavy black hair that can sometimes get frizzy. I had bleached a good portion of my hair and so my ends were dry and frizzled even though I used treatments. I had then dyed my hair black twice to get my original hair colour. My hair did not like this at all. My ends were super dry even with product and my hair was breaking. A lot of it fell out. I then tried an organic shampoo because I figured my hair had enough of the chemicals. Bad idea. I tried the organix shampoo and I think my scalp had an allergic reaction to it. It was so itchy. So on top of all the other things, my scalp felt like it had fire ants in it whenever I washed it.
Then my friend recommended the nourishing properties of olive oil.
I purchased the Palmers brand at first (thank God because I tried the Organix olive oil conditioner later on and I found it lacking).
I didn't notice much of a change initially except that my scalp didn't burn, which was probably because I stopped using the other shampoo. I got a hair cut and using this shampoo over time made my hair look so much better than it did before I bleached it. It was light, shiny, and a little more voluminous. I don't have thin hair but it didn't weigh it down nor make it poofy. Of course I used this in conjunction with the conditioner, but I also deep conditioned my hair about 1x every 1-2 weeks.
I love this shampoo. It makes my hair look healthy, lathers well, and actually cleans my hair. I wash my hair about every 3 or 4 days. I've tried other shampoos wherein I've had to wash my hair the next day - such a bother.
Because I don't wash my hair that often, the shampoo ended up lasting me quite a while. Even so, at $10 a bottle, I wouldn't say it's the cheapest. Also, a note for Canadian guys and gals is that I can only find this at Walmart and haven't seen it on sale or else I'd stock up. I've checked Shoppers, grocery stores, beauty supply outlet, Rexall and none of them carry this brand.
The packaging is green and although it's not the cutest, it doesn't really matter to me as long as I'm not wasting product.
One thing that people might consider a con is the smell. I personally don't mind it. It smells like a clean plant. However, when my sister smells my hair she can't stand it. My advice is to open the lid and take a whiff before you purchase it, in case it's something that really bothers you.
Overall, I'm super happy with this product and will continue repurchasing because it hasn't failed me.

I was looking for a shampoo that was gentle, had some good oil in it (my discontinued favorite had avocado oil), and was free of sulfates and silicones. I have Caucasian hair that is wavy and very frizzy. Sulfates = poofy-fried-witchy-poo hair. Silicones = greasy hair and scalp zits. This is working out well. The first day I noticed some improvement, and my hair is softer, shinier, and stronger than it was a month ago. At first I thought it left my scalp too oily, but so far, no zits--my scalp feels healthy. Not loving the scent, but it is light and clean, and doesn't linger much.

Pretty decent shampoo for dry hair. Foams very well and the scent is not so chemical. Not sure if it is organic or not, I am almost through a bottle and my hair seems to like it. But I won't repurchase for a while because the olive oil formula may be too oily for higher temperature

I love this shampoo. Finally a product that is actually moisturizing my hair, instead of drying it out while claiming to be "hydrating." After just one wash my hair came out more smooth and more manageable.
The packaging isn't as "cool" looking as bigger brands, but it isn't bad and I have no complaints about the functionality of the design. I do get some odd looks when I am buying it, as in the stores around me it is sold in the "Ethnic Hair Care" section, even though it is definitely good for more than just ethnic hair types.

Omg i love this thing over here! i recently bleached the hell out of my hair ends, and was on the verge of snipping them away until I chanced upon this at my local drugstore.
Smells amazing, and my hair feels softer and smoother instantly after a wash! Definitely has made it much more manageable and when I run my hands through my hair, I can't really differentiate between the bleached ends and my normal hair. MAD LOVE. so recommending to people, and so getting this over and over again

PALMER'S OLIVE OIL SHAMPOO/CONDITONER, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE! I need to add the disclaimer that I just quit working at Sephora and had been there almost a year, and been accustomed to using Bumble and Carol's Daughter for cleansing /conditioning. I was on my rare trip to Wal-Mart (target was closed) and I spotted this stuff on the middle of a big main aisle. The green color drew me in, as well as the fact that I love palmer's coco butter. I got a HUGE bottle of the shampoo and conditioner for under 5 bucks a piece... Used it today... Love the scent... Lathered well and I felt like my thick mane lost less hair than normal when 'poo-ing. For reference, I don't have ethnic hair, I'm as pale and scandanavian as they come but somehow managed to get a moderately thick, wavy yet dry-coarse mane. I even decided to blow out and straighten my hair and I am super impressed. A drug-store gem.

ok theres a little story w/ this but i'll get to the point: i love it.
ok story time: so for the last month or so ive been trying to be really "nice" to my hair. I do a natural home made deep conditioner every week (with 100% natural lavender oil and olive oil added) i always use thermal proctectants and i use heat(ie flat iron) less than 2 times a week. i also wrap my hair and try to wrap it wet after shampooing/conditioning to get rid of blow drying too. it definitely is healthier and stronger^__^
I'm very aware that olive oil is a must for growing nice hair and alot of people rave about coconut oil too. so i went to walmart today intent on buying ORGANICS OLlVE OIL shampoo. but after getting there the frugal girl inside me wanted to look around 1st. i picked up dr. Miracles version of this and as always looked up the reviews on my phone it got 3.1 out fo 5 on this site and apparently had harsh chemicals so i looked some more.
i laid my eyes upon PALMERS OLIVE OIL shampoo and then researched it and it got 3.7 out of 5 here and higher ratings other places and it was only $4.77 compared to dr. M's $.28 and Olive Oil's $7.84. then beside it was PALMERS COCONUT OIL repairing conditioner so i got that too, it got even better reviews!
i came home washed my hair- except when i use my Nexxus shampoo, usually my hair feels brittle after poo'ing (but for almost$30 it better not!) but this left my hair feeling soft!
Conditioned- i put in maybe 2 quarter sized dollops and put a shower cap over it for 20 minutes then i rinsed it out and put a dime sized amount in again to leave in.
after blow dry- it feels great its light weight bouncy smells nice and feels healthy DEFINITELY A BUY.

I am Latina and I wash my hair every day but don't like the dryness my ends have. I don't like this don't wash your hair and let it get greasy business! I have been going crazy with my Staticky hair. I made it grow by putting Monistat 7 and Olive Oil. It works! Now I needed something for shine and moisture. I found this Palmers Olive Oil Shampoo at Walmart for 4.96. It makes sense. I did not buy the conditioner because I like to try one thing at a time to see results. The first day I used it I couldn't believe the shine in my hair and the moisture. I don't think I even need conditioner. But I will buy it anyway. I used it on my 10 yr old daughter too and her hair is the shinniest I have ever seen it. We couldn't believe it. I will keep using it and I will buy the conditioner too. I forgot to mention it has a real intresting attractive scent..mmmmmmmmm

this product is a moisturizing shampoo with olive oil ingredients and natural organic ingredients to moisturize, and replenish the health of the hair. I am a woman of color, so my hair has a texture to it. I wash my hair once a week, and what I'll do is i'll wet my hair, use a small amount of this, what would be about 1-2 tablespoons approximately, (my hair is long and full), i massage and wash my scalp, and then once i'm done massaging my scalp with the shampoo, i'll rinse the shampoo out through the strands of my hair to get the body of my hair clean by rinsing the shampoo from my scalp. The feeling of this in my hair is like pure heaven. It makes my hair feel extremely thick, soft, and smooth all at the same time. Once my hair is almost completely rinsed, (i like to leave a little shampoo in it), i'll use about a quarter size of the replenishing conditioner (olive oil with vitamin E). I leave the conditioner in for about a few seconds, and then I rinse. I'll rinse the strands of my hair out almost completely. The conditioner is very creamy and has a very nice fruit smell to it. Both the s/c help my hair maintain its softness through the blow drying process, and it smells really good afterwards too, although the heat from my flat iron overpowers the scent of the shampoo a littlte i would guess. It seems to anyway.
Due to the creaminess of this shampoo and conditioner, i would not recommend this product to a non-ethnic hair type, b/c a non-ethnic hair type does not have the natural curl/natural wave that is needed to absorb the moisture within this shampoo.

It's not the best shampoo for my hair, except when used with the matching conditioner, which works great, thank God, but I'm shocked nobody's mentioned the scent --IT SMELLS SO GOOD I AM GOING TO START BATHING IN IT!!! Really, go find some right now and smell of it.

This works well for dry, damaged hair, and thick hair. I like this when I've been swimming a lot. It does help quite a bit.

I thought this shampoo would be awesome for my color treated stressed out hair.
Maybe it could be but i'll NEVER use it again. I have color treated red hair and it stripped the hell out of it in one wash! My color was so faded i had to call my stylist for a solution.

Reviews said this is good on coarse/thick hair. In fact, it wld work wonders. My hair is straight & flat. Same as the Coconut Oil version, it doesn't lather much. Has a weak smell which can be improvised on. Meant to use with the conditioner for full effects/

LOVE.My hair has been so coarse and just weird recently; not sure what is going on with it. I'd tried everything I could think of but to no avail, so I visited the ethnic section of Wal Mart to see what was available. I'm not of ethnic descent, but when my hair has been impossible in the past I have gravitated to these lines of hair care.
The olive oil shampoo makes my hair so much smoother, shiny and manageable. I'm going to go and get the conditioner next-I can see this being my saving grace this summer!
I agree with a previous reviewer; this is probably not for someone with fine/straight hair as it would be too moisturizing (greasy.) Right now my hair-while very fine-is dry and coarse and this has been wonderful for it.

I bought this shampoo for my 4 year old daughter but I use it from time to time if I decide to wash my hair and pull it back in a ponytail. This shampoo does get her hair clean and it smells really good. Her hair is very manageable after using the shampoo and very clean. The shampoo helps with frizzies, restores moisture and removes product buildup. This is a good line by Palmer's. I also use the Olive Oil Hair Lotion for styling her hair.

5 STARS!!! I have dry, relaxed, fine hair that is very thick and I have used this product exclusively for 1 year now, along with the matching conditioner. I just had to write a review of this great product...It thoroughly cleans my hair without stripping it, removes product build-up, AND it really does make my hair smoother and easier to comb.
This is made with certified Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Vitamin E...As long as this product meets the needs of my hair, I will continue to use it! :-D
~I forgot to add that I only wash & condition my hair 1x/week, since it's curly to preserve the natural oils.
EDIT: The scent is just too much now for my allergies, I rarely ever use this because of it!!! I took off a lippie for extra strong scent.
