If you keep your powder in your purse, do not purchase this item. The packaging is very odd and this will open and crumble in your purse. The powder broke me out and sat on top of my skin, which is not a good look.

Pros:

Cons:
*Horrible packaging
*Sits on top of skin
*Causes breakouts

This broke me out with cystic acne as well! I didn't want to drive to the nearest Bloomies or NM to get my La Prairie Cellular Treatment Foundation Powder Finish (I use beige dore-medium color) so I purchased this from Sephora in a pinch. I returned it after a few uses since I was breaking out. I love the Hourglasss Cream-to-powder Bronzer Duo though. It never breaks me out and I can even use it on t-zone area without a problem. For those of you looking for the perfect foundation powder go try La Prairie!!!!! I swear by this and I NEVER break out while using it. It can be used wet or dry. I buy one every six months and change out the sponge to help keep the powder from cracking and build-up of those oil spots from touching up my shiny face . Hope this review helps!

I bought this powder foundation as it appeared gorgeous when the sale assistant applied it to my face. It goes on nicely, the colour was perfect and matched my natural skin colour and the package was so cute with the twist mirror love!!! But the only problem I encountered and I wish I didnt was that it broke me out in sore cystic acne every time I applied it a new pimple came up. I refused to think it was the powder but unfortunately it was as it was the only thing in my skin regime that was added. I am not sure what ingredient was the cause to the break out but I am sad to return it and back on the track to find that perfect powder foundation. :(

Okay, so I tried BE when trying to switch to a more natural foundation, and that broke me out like crazy. When I went to look for the Laura Mercier mineral foundation, the SA talked me into purchasing the Hourglass Mineral Primer and this foundation. Honestly, this has an amazing and natural finish, I really like it. It however, does not cover blemishes AT ALL, so be prepared for concealer. When my skin behaves, this looks amazing on me. When it doesn't, I need concealer. Thankfully, I just went to my dermatologist today, so hopefully my skin starts clearing up. Also, I have to use a setting powder with this, or it gets oily within a few hours.

This is a great product, the bare minerals matte was not agreeing with my skin and looked so dry and chalky; this poweder looks fresh and clean.

I use this over their tinted moisturizer on weekend and by it self on week days for light coverage. It does exactly what it is soppose to do; it lets my skin breathe and lightly diminishes the appearance of imperfections.

This product is just OK. Nothing special at all, only cute packaging. I bought this in shade 3 and thought it was gonna be too light but in fact it was fine because I was planning o wearing it over liquid foundation and that usually darkens any powder I put on top. I will say that this does oxidize and the color did change darker. It kept me matte for just a short time and had to retouch a few times. All i all I prefer Lancome dual finish or MAC studio fix powder.

This is my go-to powder for daytime coverage. It's lightweight and looks really natural (no need for a heavy mask at the office!). Cool compact, too :)

This is not a mineral makeup. Although I suppose they can get away with it because it has soy. ? Anyway, regardless, this slid off my face and the colour did not match, leaving me with hardly any coverage, hours after applicatoin.
And I don't have oily skin, just the normal t-zone, slightly shiny by midday. It oxidized and went more orange. The amount of silicone ingredients, I think, kill it's staying and coverage power. Move on to LM minerals or BE Matte if you can find a colour match. Better coverage, staying power, cheaper....ugh...I hate when a product has all this marketing hype and no performance. Packaging sucks too because the powder could fall out really easily, so it's not portable and you would HAVE to retouch. I'm NC25

I am about two weeks into wearing Oxygen. I went into Sephora indecisive, and this looked really good when the SA applied it.

I have tried it so far alone, over primer (MAC Prep + Prime as well as Nars) and over tinted moisturizer.

I have combo fair skin. Some days the powder works, some days it does not and just sits there, accentuating dry patches even. I can't determine what the factors are that make it work or not. (Def needs primer either way.)

It generally looks good at first, but never lasts and looks dry by the end of the day even when it started out looking good.

In the end, the Nars powder was better and this isn't nearly good enough to require repurchasing at regular price, never mind how expensive it is.

Hourglass is one of my favorite brands, and while their pressed powder is not exceptional it has a nice finish and sweet packaging. Though my skin is pretty fair, shade No. 3 is a good match for me. The formula covers shine without being drying, and the included sponge is better than average. The compact itself is very sleek and pretty, though if I don't put it in a separate pocket of my bag it can swivel open.

I bought this powder solely for the packaging. Maybe useless, but the swivel mirror is the coolest little gadget. However, the powder is just disgusting. The makeup artist at Sephora (pretty sure she was a rep for the line) put it on me and added bronzer and concealer and it looked fine- in the store. However, when I applied it myself the next day it looked dirty, ruddy and it made my pores look huge. Actually it made my pores look like pock marks-and I don't have pock marks. I wouldn't have returned it, but the price tag was way too high to just throw away!

I think this is a great product, although pricey. I find bare escentuals loose powder to be too cakey looking and they do not make a pressed powder. This product provides great coverage while still looking natural.

Sephora carried this in Singapore and it is one of the interesting brands that they carry here other tham Too Faced. All other brands are your garden variety lancome, dior.. ughh

Anyhow, I was sold by the mineral and oxygen claims. The packaging is great but I think they should have a firm clasp on the compact so it stays shut i/o of swiveling out in your handbag. So far, it is the only foundation that sits so naturally and for once, does not feel like foundation.
The colour is ok for my pale beige Asian complexion without turning pink or orange at the end of the day.

Looks like a promising alternative to my Jane Iredale and Bare Minerals ... I will test it out more over the next few weeks and see how it goes.

I had been using bare minerals and noticed my skinwas starting to look ashy and i was breaking out.. i tried changing my skin care regimen thinking it was that but when it came down to it it was actually the makeup.. so i went to sephora to see what i could find.. as much as i love the look of a liquid foundation my skin just cant handle it.. everything slides off my face in a couple of hours. the SA told me about this product so i decided to give it a try even though i was scared about it still being a mineral make-up.. I LOVE IT! Looks natural and stays on my face all day. doesnt get cakey at all. i have read alot about bismuth in mineral makeup causing cosmetic acne(which bare minerals has) but as far as the ingredients list goes on the sephora website this product is bismuth free! and my skin can tell.. In the week of me using this product i am amazed at the change already in my skin! I agree with others that the price is was too expensive for the little amount that you get in the pan but if thats the price for nice skin i'll pay it! Will def repurchase!

I test drove this product for about a week a while back, and returned it due to the price and its similarity to my dior that I had bought at about the same time...I didn't feel like i needed two foundations. However, after 3 months, I find myself greatly wishing that I had not returned this and am looking towards buying this again.
Pros:
-compact is really cute and has a nice mirror...there is a separate slot for the sponge, so you know your sponge isn't sitting on top of your foundation breeding bacteria
-I found a perfect shade match in #3
-doesn't seem to accentuate any dry patches on my skin
-slightly luminous look on my skin without looking greasy.
-mattifies enough to keep me relatively nonshiny for 2-3 hours...which i feel is decent for a foundation powder
-minimizes the appearance of pores
Cons:
-expensive for the amount of product to price ratio
-swivel mirror doesn't feel practical for travel

Overall...decent foundation, but the price really needs to drap

I think this is a powder foundation that I will continue to buy because of it's superior quality. I especially love the fact that they do NOT test on animals and also the packaging of this product is so unique. I use this in No. 2 and it's a good match for my skintone NC 25ish with more yellow undertones. This is a very yellow toned foundation so not alot of ppl will like that. I tend to use it with a kabuki brush and it gives me a nice smooth, soft, and natural look. Upon using this I believe my skin's texture has actually improved and am breaking out much less. The pricetag is very steep at Cdn $50 (before taxes) but given the fact that this doesn't break me out and also, the ease of application, plus my numerous years of attempts to find a powder foundation that my skin will like, I will repurchase it. EDIT (Nov 2008): This has really helped with improving the texture of my skin. It doesn't aggravate my acne and has helped subside them. Because of the fact that my skin likes this foundation, I will continue to dish out the steep $$. Love it! EDIT 2: Switched to MAC Studio Fix and it's superb. Much economical too!! Not repurchasing Hourglass foundation anymore.

I always want to love Hourglass products because there is something about the brand that just makes me want to love it. I really want to love this powder, but I do not. It's just so dry and I want it to feel soft and smooth when I apply it. It sort of sits on my face and only starts to look smooth over time because of the oil that produces in my skin. When I was a pale olive I could use no. 1, but now that I'm more tan it was hard to find a match because no. 3 and 4 were a little too orange for me. However, I love the case and revolving mirror and am a sucker for pretty packaging. Instead of returning this, which I should have, I kept it because I loved using the mirror.

I really, really wanted to like this foundation, and after reading the reviews I thought I would give it a try and order it...but unfortunately even the lightest shade, which I ordered, is too dark for me and makes me look orange. I do not even have super light skin, so I was sure that the lightest color would be fine, but now I can't wear it without looking made-up, orange, and powdery. However, the packaging is convenient and nice and I'm sure it works if you find the right match, but there doesn't seem to be a color light enough, at least for me.

I bought this at Barneys after the SA tried it on me. At first, I was impressed with the matt & flawless look that was achieved. However, after 2 months of using this, I got tired of how it looked on me. My biggest complaint is that there is so little in the pan! The swiveling mirror is cool, but totally pointless. It actually could be a drawback because when I put it in my purse, the cover swivels easily, meaning that it could open without my knowledge. This compact powder does not have a tight shut, giving chances of bacteria to get in! Secondly, the matt look was boring after awhile as it didn't provide any luminosity whatsoever, leaving my face looking very dull. With that said, it's not worth the price!

Here is my take on this. Cool packaging. For those who have everything. As for product. Too little in the pan for the $$. Coverage is not full. It is med. to full. And that is after three applications. Waiting a few min. before each application.
I am forty something. And although it is a powder it looks more like a cream to powder on the face. I think if you have combo skin this is perfect. And keep dry spots well moisturized. A primer helped me., I LIKE the pore minimizing look this gives. And I do hope this is indeed minerals. If so I love this. If I want a more luminous look I add Bare minerals radiance over top. A keeper, but not HG.
