This is a comparison review of Chanel Eclat Lumiere to YSL Touche Eclat.
Essentially, products like these are illuminating concealers. Since their illuminating aspect is their main feature, they're not meant to be used on lieu of a proper concealer, hence their coverage isn't up to par with other concealers.
Eclat Lumiere has more coverage than Touche Eclat, which I actually dislike since my dark circles aren't very prominent in the first place, hence I prefer lighter coverage products on my under eyes. Touche Eclat provides just that. I recommend Eclat Lumiere for those with darker, more prominent dark circles.
Because Eclat Lumiere has slightly heavier coverage, it looks less natural, and it's not even the slightest bit brightening. Touche Eclat, on the other hand, is more natural-looking and somewhat brightening.
Also, both products are said to be able to be used as a highlighter. I strongly disagree. Highlighters have sheer to no coverage (only the light-reflecting particles should show--there shouldn't be any pigments), and these have enough pigment to be labeled as a concealer, and too much pigment to be labeled as a highlighter. I tried using it on my nose bridge and it simply ended up looking like I, well, put concealer on my nose.
Eclat Lumiere lasts for 4 hours; Touche Eclat lasts for 7 hours on me.
Both have a smooth, creamy, blendable consistency, but I prefer YSL's simply because it doesn't take forever to dry and set like Eclat Lumiere's does. I also prefer YSL's iconic luxurious gold packaging. :b
Both feature a click pen with a silicone brush tip.
For some reason, the Chanel associate matched me to 50 Medium Deep, the darkest shade. I'm NC35 (well, NC30 now, since for some reason I'm unbelievably pale this winter) and it's too dark! 35 Medium is probably my match. In Touche Eclat, 5.0 is too dark and 3.5 matches well.
My biggest complaint of Eclat Lumiere is its price. I'm well accustomed to high-end prices, but this is way too overpriced--$40 for only 0.04 oz., which is no more than two months' worth of product. Touche Eclat also costs $40, but it has 0.1 oz.--more than double the amount!
Would I repurchase? No.

I own the Chanel Eclat Lumiere in "20 beige clair." I bought it in Germany, where it costs 33€ for 1.2ml of product.
First of all, while this is not unique to Chanel, in general I abhor highlighting pen applicators with brushes attached. The brushes waste product - something you can't really afford to do when you have less than 2ml of product to begin with - and it's unhygenic and practically uncleanable. I solve this problem by simply cutting the brush attachment off right from the start, whether on a high-end or low-end concealer, but since I have to modify the product casing at all, I knock a point off for that.
The second negative point here is the price. As said, 33 euros for 1.2ml is bad; not only that, the tube is opaque black so you can't even judge how much product you've used. Additionally, most highlighter pens come with at least 1.5ml, but I actually hunted the amount included down, and it really does come with less than the "standard" despite costing more. To be expected from high-end brands, but still a little disappointment that they couldn't include that extra .3ml for us plebeians. ;-)
That's the only negative things I have to say about this highlighting pen. In every other aspect, it outperforms every other highlighting pen concealer I have ever tried to date. It illuminates, but doesn't sparkle too much; it conceals, but it's not cakey. I do find I have to blend it twice to keep it from settling into the fine lines under my eyes, but once I've patted it down for the second time, it stays on for roughly 6 hours. This staying power without touchups beats all other highlighting pen concealers I've tried hands down. It could potentially last even longer if I were to powder it down, but I like the illuminating effect that keeping it free of powder creates, and I have dry skin, so I try to avoid powder when I can. Most importantly, in Germany - the land of drastically reduced colour choices for the darker-skinned - this came in a good match for my skin tone.
If the price-to-product amount were anything better than what it actually is, I would stick with this product for concealing my undereye rings. Alas, being what it is, this is something I'd save up to buy for a special occasion - weddings, anniversaries or the like - rather purchasing it for my everyday consumption. Even if I'm not on a tight budget, 33 Euros for a month or two of product just won't cut it for me.

The product is fantastic, but it runs out extremely quickly. In only 6 weeks it is already gone!

Beautiful highlighting pen and doubles well as a concealer (if you're only hiding minor flaws) - amazing under eyes and around nose and mouth, but VERY expensive here in Australia and it doesn't last that long (i.e. I'll have to buy another one soon unless I find something as good that's cheaper!). Pretty sheer but I think the advantage of that is that you'll find a colour for your skin tone (unlike the limited colour range of their mat lumiere foundations) and it dries nicely. It did crease a little under my eye but it could be because I have quite oily skin/lids. Great product, except for the price, but it is Chanel I guess!

This was fantastic under my eyes- but I have gone through it in less than a month and am very disppointed given it cost roughly $65 here in Australia!! I want to buy it again but will not use as much as I did! Probaby get something else for everyday use.
Update... Looking for this to buy cheap online I have discovered how much product you are actually buying... 1.2mls! No wonder! Will not be buying again except for my wedding day makeup if I can't find anything as good

I'm left feeling a bit confused about this product. I use it under my eyes whenever I'm looking tired or pale, I don't use it as a highlighter per se. I love it because it cancels out my dark circles, illuminates and reflects to make my eye area brighter, adds a tiny bit of shimmer that really brightens my whole face. The applicator is easy and efficient, you just twist the bottom until product comes out the top through the brush and dot a bit under your eyes. Then I either pat on or buff in with a blending brush. Excellent results! However, I do find that it creases a little bit a few minutes after applying, so I have to remember to blend that in once again, where it will stay put for the rest of the day. Also, the shimmers looks fabulous in indoor lighting, but in natural light, it can look a bit too shimmery, almost as if you applied a shimmer eyeshadow and the fallout landed under your eyes. Overall, I haven't found another product like it. It's quick, easy, a bit expensive but works wonders! Just be careful to buff it out once it creases and try to use it when you'll be staying indoors. Will most likely repurchase unless I find a better quality product for under the eyes!

BEST highlighting pen. GREAT coverage. VERY moisturizing and MUCH cheaper than all the others...which is quite odd since it is Chanel! Only 45$ compared to 57$ for YSL and Dior. This is perfect and you need ti use much less so it lasts much longer. If I needed to repurchase I would buy the Chanel and pass on the others.

The trick with this item is knowing how to use this pen for the best results. I used to think it's to highlight your facial features, but there's so much more to this! I had a makeup session with a Chanel makeup artist and she used this to cover undereye circles. When she was done, omg, I looked like I had just woken up from a 10 hour restful sleep. And here we were on a Friday evening, after a long work week, and I looked so healthy and rested. She said that when people have extremely dark circles (like me), this pen is great for neutralizing undereye circles first, then applying concealer over it. I was so impressed with the results, that I bought this pen. I couldn't be happier, it offers good coverage without being sheer and is thicker than the Dior Skinflash or YSL, it has great consisency and easier to blend than the other brands I've tried. It's too bad we can't see how much product is left in the pen, however, this product lasts a long time. I have medium to very light olive skin, and I use the Rose Beige. I wouldn't use it on its own, since it's not concealing enough for my very dark circles, but as a neutralizer under my concealer, it's a home run! I'm so glad I discovered the best way to use this product.

I got this in #10 (Beige Tendre).
At first glance: The packaging is nice, definitely doesn't look like cheap concealer. I have to admit, I bought this mainly because it's Chanel. =)) I like the gold band that separated the cap from the rest of the tube.
PROS:
*Beautiful consistency, glides on very smoothly even without moisturizers or primers. If you've tried Chanel's Aqualumiere gloss, the consistency is similar to that- except this time, it's on your face, not just your lips. :)
* It really gives your entire face an instant lift. (Take note: I didn't wear this alone. #10 is a little lighter than my natural skin color, so I wore it over Smashbox HD concealer in Medium.)
* The brush applicator is practical, if you end up with excess product, you can just put it back in and it'll stay there until the next time you need it.
*I've been obsessed with the "iridescent glow" effect, and this is perfect for that.
CONS:
*Quite pricey. I live in the Philippines and I bought it for around Php1950- That's around $ 44.
*I had to keep on turning the knob for the product to appear on the brush! And you never know how many times you have to turn it for it to come out.
* Because the packaging is black, you have NO idea how much product there is left.
* I've had it for two weeks and I have a feeling that I'm already running out.
* If you have really bad under eye circles, this won't do it for you. It could help, but you'll have to layer it over another concealer.
OVERALL: It still is CHANEL. <3 But I'd only buy it again if it went on sale. If you get this product, don't make it your main concealer. Try using a concealer that matches your skin color, then layer this over. :) It's a great highlighter concealer, just really pricey. If it were cheaper, I'd make it a staple in my makeup kit.

This product is WAY overpriced. I am a Chanel girl & I would repurchase all of their stuff I have tried so far - except for this. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a bad product (hence I'm giving it 3 lippies), but it isn't anything special either and it certainly does not justify the hefty price tag.
I'd say the coverage of this is light to medium. It isn't enough to cover my dark circles. If you have 'light' dark circles then this might work, but if you have just plain dark circles then this won't cut it. For redness in the face it is okay.
I do like the consistency. It doesn't cake or settle into lines and it looks natural.
The packaging is pretty, but a downside to it is that you can't tell how much is left.
The price is ridiculous, especially considering that the amount of product you get is miniscule.
The bottom line is that this is a nice product, but I can get something to do exactly the same for less than a third of the price. I like the bourjois brush concealer just as much and I like my Gosh concealer even better.
Will not repurchase.

I gave it a "2" because I am outraged at how little time it lasted! I used it sparingly and the result were ok but I just can't get over that the pen ran out so fast and there was no warning either.
I feel like I should state that I love, love, love Chanel and have amassed a huge collection over the years - this is the first time I have ever given a low rating to one of their products.
I just can't justfy the price for the longevity of the pen.

PROS: Very good at subtle illumination. Wonderful, super-light texture, but buildable. Great as a highlighter. I am a N10-15 (leaning toward NC) & I needed the "2". (The "1" was just a bit too light.)
CONS: Might not be enough for those with very dark circles. May be drying on dry eyes/wrinkles.
ALTERNATES: HE alternate, YSL Touche Eclat (although I prefer the Chanel.) For a bit of subtle shimmer, Laura Mercier's Secret Brightener.
REMOVAL TIPS: If using this for more than the eyes and If using this for more than the eyes and you are prone to clogging, you may want to remove this with a cleansing oil before using your regular cleanser.

I've been using this product for about a month. Hands down, it is the best concealer I've ever tried.
I've been through Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, and Stila, to name a few. What sets this concealer apart from all of the others I've tried is that it provides outstanding coverage without looking heavy and it doesn't settle into the fine lines under my eyes. It matches my skin tone perfectly (I use the lightest shade) and is incredibly easy to blend. It lasts all day.
I have minor dark circles under my eyes and some degree of puffiness. If you have darker circles, you may want something a bit more substantial, but I would still stop by the Chanel counter to see if this works.
There are two drawbacks to this product, one of which is rather substantial. First, it's impossible to tell if you're running out of product; it comes in a black tube and there's really no warning when you're running low.
Second, I'm reading other reviews which state that this product ran out after THREE OR FOUR WEEKS. Which may explain why I was having trouble getting enough out of the tube this morning. $40/tube is a fair price, but for a product that's going to last three months at the very least. I can't justify adding $40 to my monthly budget for "concealer expense," however heavenly this is, so sadly, I'm still on my quest for the perfect concealer...sigh.

Very good coverage (unlike skinflash by Dior), it melts into my skin. It is very natural and it is easy to retouch during the day. The colour is very credible (not too yellow) and helps reducing dark shades. I replaced the Bobbi Brown concealer, which after a while looked far too heavy. I am very happy with the resullts this product delivers. It does not cake and it does not create that awful "white" effect I expereinced with YSL.

Truly the best concealer/highlighter created by Man. I bought Rose Beige, and under my eyes, it's a miracle worker. (Deep breath and moment of silence) I will go so far as to call it an HG -- the only thing I've ever called that, btw. It's also wonderful to highlight around your lips a bit if you want your lip color to look super vibrant. I don't know how long it will last yet. Based on what everyone is saying here, I'm going sparingly and saving it for when I truly want to look dewily gorgeous. As for the color, thought the name doesn't really sound it, Rose Beige is a light color, and great for cool toned skin. My SA said it's kind of a tricky color that a lot of people can't wear, but if you can, it's magic. My ultimate advice -- walk away -- don't try it. Seriously, better not to ever know how fabulous it is, than to realize you're addicted to it and will be shelling out a fortune for small amounts for the rest of your life!

i didn't expect chanel to have a matchable shade for my skin tone, but i have worn they're foundations before and so i asked for a concealor to match mat lumiere finish. The first concealor from their line the SA tried on me was the corrector perfection, but they were all sold out in my shade, so i bought the pen style one instead. And i think i actually like the pen style better because i think that the tube style of the other concealor might get all over my purse and whatever, and with the pen i can control the coverage. i did take a lipstick point off for the price, its really expensive, but i think its worth it.

I was trying to buy the Pro lumiere concealer, which is I haven't been able to find. I saw it on a department store website, and ordered it. However when I got my package instead of pro lumiere in light I got this beige tendre light eclat lumiere. Needless to say I was ticked off, but I didn't want to go through the agrivation of trying to return it. First of all this color is very yellow. I feel I would rather put something more pink under my eyes though-to brighten. However this sufices. The first time I used this product on my face I hated it! I felt like I had put mustard on my blemishes. However, the next time I used it I used a tiny bit and then put my powder foundation over and it looked nice. Still I don't feel like this products price tag is worth it. This is a pretty basic concealer. While it isn't drying and its slightly illuminating, it lacks impressive ingredients or something else unique to make it worth choosing over something cheaper. I personally haven't had irritation or clogged pores from this-but I would only recommend using a tiny bit-which is all you need anyway.
